Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap Guard

Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap GuardWorks great UNTIL you turn on your oven (FYI-I have a brand new "cool touch" MAYTAG gas range), the GLUE seperates from the magnet and now it looks like a Salvador Dali painting & the SELLER WILL NOT RESPOND to my EMAILS!!!

Save your money, buy something else.

I thought these were T-shaped, but they are L-shaped and didn't cover the gap between counter and stove. They are supposed to be magnetic, but I'm not sure they are. They didn't fit my situation well at all. I found T-shaped silicone extenders at Wal-Mart for about $6 each.

Buy Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap Guard Now

Even after seeing other reviews, that stated they melted and pulled away from the magnet, I had to try these because they were L shaped. I could not find an L shaped stainless steel. I loved the way the looked when I first got them. However, the first time I used a large pan, they melted. Very dissapointed that a product designed for a stove cannot handle the heat.

I really like this stovetop extender. I bought a set before this that cost less, but I got what I paid for! This fits so low and snugly against my stove that it is hardly noticeable, and others who have seen it have commented on how nice it looks.

A very satisfied customer!!

Apart from this being exactly what I needed it would have helped in the description to know, ordeing "1" means a set (2 pieces). I suppose logically that would be the case but I went with the literal description and ordered "2." Naturally I wound up with extra.

Whirlpool / KitchenAid / Kenmore Gasket Refrigerator 2188456A

Whirlpool / KitchenAid / Kenmore Gasket Refrigerator 2188456AI put this gasket on my refrigerator and it fits just right. The only issue I have it the gasket is a little compressed so the magnet does not make a good seal. I had hoped that after a couple of days it would relax a little but it has been over a week and I would say that it only just works. In many places there are gaps and if I were to do the dollar bill test for a good seal it would fail in every location. I have tried to adjust or stretch the gasket to loosen the magnet with hopes of it fitting better but nothing has made any improvements. I am sure it is just this one gasket and most of what this company sells is better then what I received but I don't know for sure.

After letting the gasket flatten out after after taken out of the box they fit great. Seals great and no issues.

Koolatron CVF18 10-Can-Capacity Vending Fridge

Koolatron CVF18 10-Can-Capacity Vending Fridge
  • Fridge holds up to 10 12-ounce cans (cans not included)
  • Tall window display; dispenses cans vending-machine style
  • Cools up to 32 degrees F below the ambient temperature
  • Thermoelectric system; runs on 110-volt AC or 12-volt DC power
  • Measures 18-2/3 by 12 by 28-1/2 inches

Don't be "tricked" into buying the AC adaptor since it shows you an upsell message saying the two items are purchased together the item comes with one. Regarding the item itself: Keep in mind this is a novelty item. It's not meant to be a fancy vending machine. There is also a pretty annoying design flaw. The way this thing dispenses is by dropping sodas from the various shelves where the corresponding buttons are. Sodas in the higher shelves have a higher drop and thus get shaken up a bit which isn't fun when opening up the can for consumption.

I bought this for my husband for his birthday to keep in his "man cave." He loves it! He has an ice-cold soda at his fingertips whenever he wants it. Plus it's a fun addition to his room.

This product is so neat. We were finishing our basement with a whole retro theme, and purchased it to sit on the bar as more of an ornamental item. When I opened it up and put drinks into it, I realized how well it worked, so now we're using it as it was meant to. Everyone who comes to visit remarks about how neat it is!

Nice item but it does not include any Coca-Cola sticker or labels to put on the door or sides. It is just a plain red fridge. Any chance to have some?

I use this to keep soda cool in an already air conditioned office and it does a fine job of keeping it quite chilled. I start the soda in our fridge and then out ti in this but it gets colder in this then it is in the fridge.

Yes it drops the soda to dispense but I havent had any shaking problems even from the top level.

It didn't come with the Coke stickers but its trivial to find them on the net and print them to clear sticky-back plastic in a laser printer.

The only remaining question is durability... I'll let you know in a year :)

I got it for half price open-box from the Amazon Warehouse. I'd definitely recommend checking there first.

46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine Cooler

46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine CoolerI bought this wine cooler (although not through Amazon) and am passing on my experience since I'm now looking for a replacement cooler. Purchased the cooler in Oct. 2011 from an on-line store with a 90-day labor, 1-year parts warranty. The cooler worked fine until June 2012 when it stopped cooling completely. I contacted the U.S. distributor (the cooler itself is made in China, of course) and was told I could get the unit repaired locally and that they would honor the parts warranty if it needed replacement parts. So I took the cooler to a local appliance repair shop and they inspected it, installed an in-line tap into the coolant line and recharged the refrigerant. They reported no visible leaks, but the possibility of leak in the internal tubing which they said would "not be repairable." After this repair the cooler worked fine from July 3 to August 14, 2012, and then stopped cooling altogether. Just to confirm that repairing an internal leak of coolant was no repairable, I got a repair estimate from another local appliance repair service which came back at $500+ with the recommendation to simply replace the unit. Wanting to cover all my options, I contacted Edgestar technical support and asked if it was worth crating and shipping the cooler to them from Santa Fe, NM to Austin, TX, for repair. You guessed it, they advised that these costs plus their labor to work on the cooler exceeded its value; I should replace it. Since this is the third wine cooler I have owned, and both of the other coolers are still running in other locations (after ten years for one and nine years for the other and both were made in the U.S.A), I could simply conclude that this Edgestar was a flawed product, but now there's nothing to do with the one I've got but to junk it. I won't buy another Edgestar product of course. I'll look for a replacement made in the U.S.A, which will be more expensive, but of better quality, and I'll also spring for a better warranty, which in this case, would probably prove to be cost effective.

We spent about $700 on this wine cooler. It was great until right after the 1 year warranty expired....it died, no warranty, and we have yet to find a repairman that works on Edgestar appliances...dont waste your money.

Buy 46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine Cooler Now

We bought the 46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine Cooler about 3 years ago. It stopped cooling and the cost of repair is beyond the cost of a new unit. I can not recommend this product to anyone. I will spend more and buy a USA built unit that at least can be repaired.

Fridge looks nice and seems to be working fine. I had none of the shipping damage or DOA problems I have seen in other reviews. Seems to be holding temperature on top and bottom sections.

Funny thing about these wine coolers in this price range at least. They are always overstating the number of bottles that fit in there. Kind of like how many people can fit in a volkswagon,... anecdotal. You could stuff it up to 46 I suppose but it would be a trick to use it comfortably. You lose a couple of bottle spots with the temperature control panel which is unfortunately designed. Also, most bottles scrape on the rack above it. But still, works fine for me.

Want 46-Bottle EdgeStar Built-In Dual-Zone Wine Cooler Discount?

I was shopping for quite awhile looking for the right cooler. We had a very restrictive area and this cooler fits well. After looking at several reviews of the EdgeStar vs. others, I narrowed my choice to the EdgeStar and one other brand. Price difference of a few hundred dollars led me to the EdgeStar. Reviews were similar. I could have saved a few hundred from what I paid for the EdgeStar on other brands I researched, but reviews were horrible. I have had it for about a month now, and so far, so good.

The only negative is that the spacing of the shelves is tight and I am not sure how you really can get 46 bottles inside, but I have not really spent a lot of time trying to focus on it. Maybe after the holidays I will figure it out.

Whirlpool Stainless Steel Side-by-side Refrigerator

Whirlpool 25 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - ED5FVGXWSWe've had this fridge about 1 month and it is very quiet and has presented no problems. It has cold water and ice in either crushed or cubed form. My son loves the crushed ice feature since it cools drinks down fast. My main beef about this refrigerator is that there is a lot of wasted space. It uses traditional light bulbs including bulbs behind the food (why???). The bulbs and their guards waste nearly 1 cu ft of space. The water is kept in a resivoir in the back of the refrigerator that prevents the shelves from going all the way to the backs: another cubic foot of space lost. The shelves have too wide reinforcement on the shelves that cause items to tip over and have a fancy curved front: I'd rather just have the shelves made to maximize storage! Anyway, they need to more efficiently make use of the interior space of the frige including using small, energy efficient leds.

I've had this for more than a year now and it's been running like a champ. I was skeptical when I wanted to buy it coz it was so damn cheap. It gets the job done and all the bells and whistles work fine. The black plastic on the ice and water dispenser is a bit cheap looking but it is OK otherwise. I've been very happy with this fridge and I am just wondering why other brands go for double this price on a stainless steel side by side.

Extremely disappointed at the cheap materials used for shelving.

After getting my first real job after college, I bought my parents this fridge for Christmas after their freezer quit on them. Was looking forward to giving them a good 10 years or so with this new fridge (parents' previous fridge lasted 10+ years), but was sorely disappointed when after just 2 years, the plastic edges around the shelves began to crack. First, the shelves inside the door, then the rest of the shelves. Never have we had this problem with our previous refrigerators. Extremely disappointing. Warranty is only good for one year, so I guess it's too bad for us.

Don't be fooled by the nice-looking exterior and expensive price tag. This will be the last time I buy a Whirlpool anything.

The product works great. I dont have the water plugged in. On the first day it made

lot of noise. Its fine now and havent done that.

Plenty of room.

Shipment is bad so be careful. It took a month to deliver the fridge. I am in west coast

and the fridge came all the way from east coast. The shippers didnt do a good job

coordinating the shipment. THey would bring the fridge to my door without calling me

first.

One con is its too high so make sure you check the measurements before you buy

which i forgot to do :) and ended up having to move it.

I bought a similar model to this, the ED5PVEXW model, the side by side with the ice and water dispenser. ONE WEEK after the year warranty they give you it stopped cooling. We had a repairman come out and he said that Whirlpool and Maytag refrigerators were notorious for burning out the compressors due to a defective component and that our compressor was extremely hot. He said many have even caught fire and ruined houses! Maytag, Whirlpool's sister company, has recalled many of their models for these fire hazards, but Whirlpool has ignored the issue for the most part, only recalling a few models. I called Lowe's, where I bought my refrigerator (and where a suprisingly large amount of the failed refrigerators were purchased, check consumeraffairs.com) and they said they couldn't help me, to call Whirlpool. Well, Whirlpool said they couldn't do anything because the warranty had expired. Before you buy a Whirlpool refrigerator be sure to check the internet review sites and read the horror stories! I will never buy another Whirlpool/Maytag/Kenmore appliance, and I will never again shop at Lowe's.

When I heard the dreaded word that our refrigerator was getting warmer I thought first of the defrost timer which in my experience is prone to failure. Unlike the old days this one is mounted in the refrigerator next to the light rather than the usual spot under the refrigerator where it is exposed to heat and dust. It turned out the timer was OK and the defrost heaters were defective. Since I saved at least $35.00 buying this from Amazon I'm glad to have it as a spare. I will probably need it eventually. I installed the new one and kept the original as a spare. It's working fine. Easy do-it-yourself project. Takes about 5 minutes and saves big bucks over a service call. All you need is a Phillips screw driver. If you have never done it before you should probably unplug the refrigerator while you change the timer.

Set of 4 Magnetic Shopping List Memo Pads - Fun Produce Shapes
  • The original & reliable 'low-tech' method of keeping kitchen, home & family organized
  • Four fun & colorful die-cut shapes: Watermelon, Pineapple, Grocery Bag and Milk Carton
  • Each pad has 60 sheets, 4.5 x 8.5" for grocery list, menu plans, appointment reminders & family note
  • Multiple magnets on back attach firmly to any ferrous metal surface

The paper quality was so poor it curled up. Don't think for a second you will hang this from your refrigerator or be able to use the magnets on the back. They are cute but a waste. When you rip off the first page the entire pad rips from the magnetic back and falls to the floor.

Frigidaire Ice Maker / Icemaker 5303918277, 218699501, M1

I bought this icemaker to replace the icemaker that wasn't working in my 2003 side-by-side Frigidaire fridge. It looked the same as the one I had, but it wasn't the same part #, so I took a chance and bought it. IT WORKS GREAT! It took me 2 minutes to remove the old icemaker and install this one (literally). All you have to do is loosen the two screws on the side, lift the icemaker off the screws (brackets on the side) and then unplug the wiring adapter. It really is that simple. This price was a third of what I found elsewhere. If you need a new icemaker...this is one Do It Yourself that you really can do!

We've got a 20+ year old refrigerator/freezer and the ice maker has gone kaput. After much research, Frigidaire told me that this was the model I needed; but, after buying it, it was clear the connectors are different. Wasn't sure if it could be wired by an electrician, but going deeper into the Frigidaire ranks of technicians, I was told that the differing power requirements could start a fire, so I, unfortunately, had to return it. Note to others: if you have a really old refrigerator, ask Frigidaire to send you a picture of the connector before you buy so you can see if you have a chance of getting them to match. I wish I had.

Westinghouse Refrigerator Water Valve 241734301 240531101

Westinghouse Refrigerator Water Valve 241734301 240531101This item is a direct OEM replacement. There no difference between the old one and this new one. It plugs in fine and all hoses disconnect and re connect easily. As for the functionality of the item, it works fine, no issues yet. Time to replace is about 15-30 min based on your skill set. The seller was quick and the piece was in hand shortly after placing the order, which was nice. It came in OEM packaging, not repack, so you can tell it was a new item. No issues with it or the seller, so I would purchase from them again if need to.

The only difference between between this one and the original one is the original one used plastic nuts. This one used push-lock, you just cut the plastic nuts off.

Water Sentinel WSA-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3 Pack, Fits Amana Clean 'N Clear Wf40, Wf401

Water Sentinel WSA-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3 Pack, Fits Amana Clean 'N Clear Wf40, Wf401
  • Fridge filter to replace Amana Clean 'N Clear

I knew this was a generic, so that didn't bother me. The filters were shipped out quickly and received promptly. The description says these are a match for the Amana 46-9904 filter, which is the one we use in our fridge. However, when we got them, they didn't fit properly and water was spraying everywhere. On the plus side the company gave us no hassle about returning them (except we had to pay shipping back). The company was very responsive and good to work with. So the one star is for the product, not the company.

Buy Water Sentinel WSA-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3 Pack, Fits Amana Clean 'N Clear Wf40, Wf401 Now

I purchased these as a replacement for an Amana WF40 filter. This filter WILL fit but it is not easy to install. First of all when you remove the old filter take a look at the top and notice that there are 2 lips that work to hold/tighten the filter into place. Orient the new filters lips in the same way as the old filter when removed. The new filter will require MUCH MORE upward force to catch both lips while installing. Use both hands if you can and force the filter up and turn clockwise simultaneously. If both lips catch, the filter will screw on evenly. If the new filter is going on crooked, STOP, turn it back and try again. It took me 4-5 tries before I could get both lips to catch and get the filter on. I'm a guy with big strong hands and I can see how many folks would not have the patience or the hand strength to install this filter. If you can, it's a great bargain and I will be buying these in the future. I would also note that there is about a 25% reduction in water flow speed with these filters. Not a major issue for me. I flushed the system with 2 gallons before drinking and the taste is now resorted.

Read Best Reviews of Water Sentinel WSA-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3 Pack, Fits Amana Clean 'N Clear Wf40, Wf401 Here

These filters are a recent answer to the expense of replacement filters, and they are NOT the answer. My Kenmore takes filter #46-9014, a number clearly marked on the package of the Water Sentinel. And it does not fit. I trued screwing it in for 15 minutes, finally got what I thought was the "sweet spot", and then screwed it in. Upon trying to get water out of the fridge, water sprayed everywhere and did not come out of the spigot. Bad product.

Want Water Sentinel WSA-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 3 Pack, Fits Amana Clean 'N Clear Wf40, Wf401 Discount?

Everyone please note that these are Water Sentinel filters and NOT AMANA as the title suggests. This is very misleading as this is not the Amana brand name replacement as the title implies , but a generic replacement. I did not notice this until I received the product. The picture shows it, but I do not think they should be able to say it in their title and I am going to let Amazon know about this.

1 1/2 Inch Spin-Down Sand Separator Replacement Filter Screen FS1-1/2-RE by Rusco

1 1/2 Inch Spin-Down Sand Separator Replacement Filter Screen FS1-1/2-RE by RuscoIt works very well. I'm using the Rusco FS1-1/2-250 for heavy sand filtration. I probably need/should clean it every month, but usually clean it every 2 months. It's a good idea to replace with a new filter every year, depending on use (ours is a family of 4).

Works great as it is, but these filters are available in different meshes from coarse (60) to very fine (250) on the open market. It would be helpful if the vendors specified what they are shipping or better yet, had a drop-down tab to choose which mesh you prefer.

Samsung DMT400RHS 400 24" Stainless Steel Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star</nosc

Samsung DMT400RHS 400 24' Stainless Steel Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star
  • Virtually Noiseless
  • Unique Leakage Sensor
  • Adjustable Upper Rack
  • Dimensions (WHD): 23 7/8" X 33 7/8" - 35 7/8" X 25"

Guess I'm the first here to review the Samsung DMT400RHS. Some background first. We purchased our house new about 10 years ago. The original appliances (dishwasher and stove) were low end Kenmore. REALLY low end Kenmore. Although both the electric range and dishwasher were still functional we decided it would be nice to upgrade with new equipment. I began searching for a new dishwasher about a year ago. Almost pulled the trigger on a high end LG but was reluctant as it was expensive (on sale at $799) and the reviews were all over the place. They ranged from it being the greatest dishwasher ever to being junk. I passed and kept looking. Well, President's Day sales came along and there were some good deals out there especially at the big box stores. (NOTE: I did not purchase the Samsung from Amazon. I love Amazon but the price at the box store was just too good to pass up.) I kept searching the net and reading reviews, lots of reviews. Talked to my wife and she said, "ok, but just don't buy the most expensive one as we think we'll be moving in another 4 yrs. Just get a good middle of the road model." I narrowed my search down to two brands, Bosch and Samsung. Both had good products with low noise levels (51db for the Samsung), stainless steel interiors, food disposer, energy efficient, leakage detection, and low water consumption (4.7 gal/load I believe). Both brands were good looking and seemed to be solidly built and both had units that were stainless steel exteriors. One other feature that I thought I wanted was a delayed start. How many times have I started the old noisy dishwasher right before going to bed and had to listen to the whoooossssh and clank as it ran through its motions right next to our bedroom. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggh! After reading a bunch of reviews I decided on the Samsung DMT400RHS. It was a notch down from the top of the line which meant it was a bit easier on the wallet but it didn't have the time delay feature. Hey, it's supposed to be quiet. At least all the reviews I read said so. Well, that home improvement store that sponsors Jimmy Johnson had it in stock but another big box had it too and was considerably cheaper. Called Big Box #1 and asked if they priced matched and they said yes. Off to the store with printed documentation of the cheaper price at Big Box #2 (S**rs). They said that they only priced matched if it was in stock and it was and they gave me that price and an additional 10% off. I also purchased a Samsung Electric Range FTQ353IWUX (review later when we've had some time with the range)with the same documentation. THEN, they had a deal where if you purchased a "tax gift card" they would credit you back 10% of the amount on the gift card on 18 Mar 11. Got the total price for the two plus installation on the dishwasher and bought a gift card for that amount and used it for the purchase. On Mar 18 I'll get a credit and probably go buy a new weedeater. Ok, back to the dishwasher. I wasn't home for the install but my wife noticed the difference between the old and the new immediately. The old Kenmore was cheap. There's just no other way to describe it. When the plumber was pulling the old one out she noted that it was just a shell with some hoses and weighed practically nothing. The Samsung was a different story. First, it was heavy, second it was enclosed. Score 1 for the Samsung. The unit comes with some side plates and a kick plate and when installed looks great. Score 2 for the Samsung. This thing is solid. You open the door and it doesn't fall down like the old one, you have to lower it down. It closes with a solid feeling something like closing the door of a good car. No latches to slide you just close it. The controls (hidden) are on the top edge of the door and I thought that might be a problem as there isn't any room to get to them with the door closed. Not a problem, before closing the door you set the controls. Power button (all are touch sensitive) press and wait for the chimes and the other buttons to light up. Select the wash setting (I've be using automatic but you have the option of normal, heavy or delicate), and then select "sanitize" (heats up the rinse water to 162F) if you wish. Close the door and the three blue progress lights on the front of the door light up and then just the first stays illuminated indication "washing". Light #2 indicates dry and light # 3 indicates clean. So, how does it clean? AWESOME! Glasses, dishes and dinnerware come out great. This dishwasher is so cooooooooool, I just want to find stuff to put in it so I can run the darn thing.

A couple of things to note. First, there is a bit of learning curve to loading this thing. The racks are laid out a bit differently than our old washer so I have to think about how I'm putting stuff in. No real problem as there is a lot of room. The upper rack is a bit different as it is "tiered", has four rows and each is a bit different in height. Short glasses on the left and progressively taller ones to the right. The top rack also has some plastic holders for stemware. Nice touch there. Hmmm, is it Score 3 for Samsung? The dinnerware holders are a bit different too. They have lids with cutouts so you place your knives and forks in them or not. You can flip the top up for stuff that won't fit the holes. Another thing that takes some getting accustomed to is the wash times. I think all these new dishwashers take a long time to go through their cycles. I believe that it's due to their low water consumption. Whatever, don't expect to put your dishes in and turn it on and be ready in an hour. Think the was times are closer to 2 or 2.5 hrs. Doesn't really matter as we usually run it before bed time. Something that will also take some getting used to is the rinse aid bin. Now we've always used the 3-in-1 dishwashing tabs (yes, they fit in the detergent bin) that include the rinse aid but the Samsung has a separate bin to put liquid rinse aid in. I've used the same tabs and they seem to work fine but the indicators on the top lid show a "low rinse aid" if the bin is empty. Hmmmm, don't want to burn out the light but do I really need to add a liquid rinse aid if I'm using the 3-in-1 tabs?????? Lastly, my concern about not getting the delay start......no problem. This thing is quiet, I mean really quiet. There is no "whoooooooooossssssssh" or "clank" or "bonk". Used to be you couldn't have a normal conversation in the kitchen with the old dishwasher now you could put a sleeping baby in crib next to the Samsung and not wake'em up. Sweet.

As you can tell, I heartily recommend the Samsung DMT400RHS. It looks great (buy some stainless steel wipes to keep it that way), it's super quiet, it cleans great, good feature set, and it was at the right price. There are two more Samsung dishwashers, one above this one (DMT 800) and one below (DMT 300) that you might consider depending on features and price. Additionally, the DMT400 comes in black or white and both are a bit cheaper than the stainless steel. You won't go wrong with this one. Cheers

Update. Everything is working great. The Samsung is still quiet and we are learning a bit more about loading. One thing I have learned is not to load large plates on the bottom rack below the detergent dispenser. We have a set of plates that are square and quiet large. Made the mistake of loading them on the lower left side front right below the detergent dispenser. After the wash was finished I opened the door and the dispenser flap popped open and out came a slightly used washing tab. The large plate had interfered with the dispenser opening properly. Oh well, adjusted the load so that smaller plates were left front and ran the wash again. Problem solved. Other than that, everything is fine. The Samsung still is very quiet, especially when running a full load. A bit more noise when half full or loaded with some large glass bowls. Funny, but when I first started looking for a new dishwasher I thought that Bosch was great. You know how when you go back to the Amazon page they list all kinds of stuff in the same category that you have been looking at and they listed a couple of Bosch dishwashers. Well, just checked them out and was surprised when I checked some reviews of similarly priced models to the Samsung and there were complaints regarding build quality ie the stainless steel interior being flimsy. No complaints here. The Samsung has a great build both inside and out. I haven't tried any of the wash cycles other than auto and sanitize so I can't comment on that. Might have to check them out. Anyway, I'm loving the Samsung. I'll turn it on at night and head to bed and TELL my wife that the dishwasher is on :).

One of the things I love about Amazon are the reviews so I try and add to them hoping that it will help someone else make a good decision. If anyone has any questions/comments, send 'em and I'll answer. Kind of surprised that nobody else has reviewed this model. Kinda lonely being the "one".

UPDATE: 10 months after purchase, the dishwasher stopped working. After waiting two weeks for a Samsung technician, he was unable to fix it, claiming he had the wrong part. To Samsung's credit, they called me the next day and offered to refund me my total purchase price for the appliance, which I accepted. I guess the moral is that this isn't the most reliable dishwasher on the market, but Samsung stood by their product, at least during the warranty period, and made me whole for my purchase.

We researched dishwashers to replace a Bosch dishwasher that had recently gone to dishwasher heaven. We had consistent trouble with the Bosch electronics which kept going bad, so we avoided them even though they are recommended in many reviews as the best, including Consumer Reports. We kept coming back to the Samsung DMT800 and 400 and finally settled on the 400. The biggest difference we could see was that the 800 had a delayed start feature which we knew we'd never use.

This dishwasher gets everything squeaky clean, and we do absolutely no pre-rinsing of our dishes. The Samsung is so quiet that you honestly can't tell that it's running! The ergonomics of the unit are beautiful, with the controls on top of the door so the lines on the front of the dishwasher are only broken by the curved handle and three inconspicuous blue LEDs that track the progress of the wash.

I have only one minor complaint and one warning. The complaint is that there is no indicator to show that the dishwasher is finished and contains clean dishes. Consider this scenario. I turn the dishwasher on before I leave the house. My wife comes home later in the afternoon and has no way of knowing that the wash inside the unit contains clean dishes. Not a biggee, but it would be nice to have something that showed the cycle has completed.

The warning is that this dishwasher is just a tad deeper than other dishwashers. Be careful that you measure accurately and that you have sufficient depth for the Samsung. We needed to take down the sheetrock behind the unit to gain the extra quarter inch we needed.

All in all, it looks like we made a wise choice. I wouldn't recommend Bosch due to our experience with repairs, and after the first 3 weeks, the Samsung seems to have been a wise choice.

UPDATE: We've owned this dishwasher now for a few months and still love it. One correction to the lack of a completion indicator I made above. If you choose "Sanitize", that light will remain on after the cycle to show that the dishes inside are clean. The right-most blue indicator on the front of the door that is actually is programmed to show that the load is completed goes off after 20 minutes. We choose Sanitize for all of our wash loads and it is how we tell whether the dishes inside are clean. The light will go off once the door is opened to empty the dishwasher and not come on again until the next cycle.

I'm assuming mine is an earlier version of this one. It looks just like it except I don't have the pretty lights on the front (bummer). It certainly looks beautiful but it does have pluses & minuses.

Pluses: love the adjustable racks and open spaces for large items; like the "bins" on the silverware holder so I can put small items in it & close the lid and not have them end up on the floor of the unit (to credit it I've never had a single item end up on the floor of the machine); nice heavy duty stainless interior; quiet operation (although it seems louder now than when I purchased it about 1.5 yrs ago, this may just be because the transition from my old machine was so noticeable, whereas, now I'm used to this one); unlike others, I love the way it dries, nothing warps or melts, it's great; and it generally cleans well.

Minuses: I don't know if it is the way my Pfaltzgraf dishes are made but they don't fit in the unit as well as in my old GE, the plates and bowls only stand up well on the rear rack/row of the machine, on the front side they roll out of position and then lean forward; similar problem with the glasses & cups, they only fit well on the first/outside rack, when I put them on the second row I have to hook them on prongs to fit them at all and then they are sort of staggered so it doesn't hold as many as it could; I have had issues with the silverware not always looking pristine (albeit, I do not load them the way they showed in the owner's manual, that would have required a lot of memorization or getting out the diagram every time I wanted to load the dishwasher since the order was not intuitive), when it happens it's only a couple of pieces and I'm guessing it's because of the way it was loaded so pilot error; I have also had where the soap did not dispense correctly on a couple of occasions I opened the door and the soap was globbed all around the dispenser, I do not know what caused this issue, I guessed maybe putting too much soap in, but I really don't know, I cleaned it up (the stainless interior cleans beautifully, btw) and re-ran it, a little aggravating, but again, I'm guessing it was something I did, not the machine.

Overall, it looks great and cleans well enough but I'm not happy with how the dishes fit. My recommendation is to take your dishes into a showroom and test fit them before you make a purchase (hard to do on Amazon, lol), that's what I'm going to do if I ever have to buy another dishwasher. The salesman may think you're crazy but if it causes you to switch choices you will be glad you did.

Update Sep 2012 I've downgraded from 3 to 2 stars. I had some weird sensor message like E9 and the machine wouldn't work at all. I had to get a tech out, who then had to order a part and come back and install it. I had my old cheapy GE for almost 25 years and it never broke down. It even still worked when we replaced it so I'm extremely disappointed to have this one break down after less than 2 years.

Update March 2013 I'm downgrading this again. I'm sick and tired of having to rewash dishes that this machine doesn't clean. I realize rings dried on my mugs from tea are more difficult to clean but my old cheap dishwasher managed, this one doesn't. I went without this machine for months while I waited for it to be fixed, and truthfully handwashing the dishes wasn't much different than using this dishwasher because I have so much prewash prep to do. I have to make sure there are no rings or debris on anything before I put it in or I have to do it by hand afterwards anyway. I've made certain all of my silverware had a space between it and the next piece for a long time, and even then, if it had been used to slice a banana or for peanut butter the chances were it would need to be rewashed, and this was after washing for 3 hrs and 2 mins (I rarely ever use the regular wash which is 2 hrs 14 mins because it washes so poorly I figure it needs all the help it can get), so now I wipe my silverware before I put it in as well!

Want

I told myself that I would take the time to write a review since I rely on them so heavily in my own decision making process. I am slowly becoming a fan of all things Samsung, TVs, washer and dryer and now dishwasher! This machine is sleek looking and VERY quiet. I like the hidden buttons and the blue lights. It seems to have enough space and the 'normal' wash cycle only takes 2 hours start-to-finish (our old Kenmore took 3). I am, though, still trying to figure-out the best way to load the dishes as the rack and prongs are different than our old machine.

Bottom Line: A solid machine for the $!

We've tried everything. We've loaded it differently. We've loaded it with plenty of space between the dishes and utensils. We've loaded it with an OCD meticulousness such that each plate was equidistant from the next. We've used more detergent, less detergent, different detergent -liquids, solids, gels, capsules. We tried different cycles (NORMAL, HEAVY, SMART AUTO)...

So what did we finally try that actually got the dishes clean?

I washed them by hand in very hot soapy water, then carefully placed them into this Samsung to let them drip dry.

Bottom line: This machine doesn't clean dishes very well. Which is unfortunate, see, because my wife and I were hoping it would be a *dishwasher.* In much the same way that we expect our toaster to, you know, TOAST. We assumed that a machine called a DISH-WASHER would do something like WASH DISHES. This machine *does* do an excellent job of baking tiny bits of food and grit into all the surfaces of dishes and glasses. (Can you sense my hostility? That's because when the *brand new* machine didn't get dishes spotlessly clean, I assumed it was because my wife had let our 4-year-old load it or something. Nope. This thing is flat-out terrible.)

Buy something else.

Kalorik 21-Bottle Wine Bar, Black/Silver

Kalorik 21-Bottle Wine Bar, Black/Silver
  • 21 Bottles, 3 bottle per shelf, Dual zones
  • Upper zone for white wine (adjustable from 44 to 54-DegreeF)
  • Lower zone for red wine (adjustable from 54 to 64-Degree F)
  • Unique state-of-the-art thermoelectric technology
  • Adjustable thermostat for ideal temperature control

I was a little hesitant to buy this fridge since it had no reviews, but I'm glad I did. The fridge looks great and so far has performed excellently. This is my third wine fridge (the other two just stopped working) and so far it has been the best. It keeps it's temperatures constant and is very quick at getting to the correct temperature. The handle was kind of a pain to install, but that's no real reason not to buy the thing. It holds 21 bottles (three to a shelf) with the ability to store a few larger bottles on the bottom shelf. Otherwise, it is a bit of a pain to house the larger bottles, but it seems that's the case with most of the products on the market (especially ones that are made to have a compact profile). The shelves pull out to access the bottles . I'm not a big white drinker so there are a few more slots in the white section then I really need. The top part does go up to 54 degrees so it's not that big of a deal to store reds up top as well. For those wondering, it has two fans and is completely silent and vibration free.

I had a similar experience as the user above. This unit does not cool.when I contacted customer service they were little to no help and told me to ship the cooler back to them... I live in CA so it cost me $120 in shipping fees. When my unit was returned to me the unit was in terrible shape. The unit was dented, scratched, and the door fell off. I called customer service and there response was to blame FedEx although the box and shipping material were in fine shape. When I put the unit back together and plugged it in to my surprise it did not cool. I can go on and on about the poor quality of this unit and the rude experience with their customer service team..... Long story short us you get what you pay for. Pass and keep looking!!!

I wanted to upgrade from a small but excellent working 6-bottle cooler by Cuisinart to one with two zones for both red and white wines. The Kaloric WCL 32964 21 appears to be of good workmanship and arrived safely in a well designed package. After assembling it I placed it in a well ventilated area and set the controls to 48 deg.for the white wine (upper section) and 63 deg for the red. Although the room temperature never has exceeded 75 deg F. the upper section has never been able to get below 56 deg. The lower section keeps switching between 62 and 63 deg, which I suppose is normal. The User's guide claims that the unit can cool to 30 deg. below room temperature. This unit has only managed 19 deg. Disappointing.

Product arrived broken/damaged and upon closer inspection I noticed the door would not fasten properly, even after closely reading the directions. The bolt was simply misaligned.

Water Sentinel WSS-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 12 Pack, Fits Samsung DA29-00003B

Water Sentinel WSS-1 Replacement Fridge Filter, 12 Pack, Fits Samsung DA29-00003BI bought a dozen of these to save the most money possible. REading the previous reviews, I was a bit worried about a percieved plastic taste to the water, but was pleasantly surprised that after running them for 5 minutes like instructed, they provided very good tasting water. Maybe because I was expecting it, I tasted a lil bit of an aftertaste the first week, but anyone I polled about it (wife, friends) said the water was great. Also, plenty of comments on how fast the water was coming out...maybe I let that old filter overstay it's welcome.

Did not have any problem fitting them in my Samsung fridge (29cu ft model). No leaking or other issues. Great solution and hopefully these are still available 5 years from know when i run out of filters again;)

In local big box stores, the price for a single filter ranged from $42 to $49. Instead, I bought 12 filters on line which reduced the price drastically to less than $10 each. I could do this confidently, because I have purchased this filter on line before and my regrigerator is fairly new, so I expect it to last for the six years these filters should cover. It's a better return on my money than the money market these days, and the product is really top notch.
