Recently I purchased this model refrigerator. DO NOT be fooled by the lovely exterior of this unit as I was. It looks beautiful with it's anti-finger print exterior & polished handles. BUT the interior is nothing but cheap plastic. The shelves are flimsy & poorly secured. Children's toys are made of higher quality plastic than the drawers in this "Refrigerator" from the "Gallery Collection". After 10 weeks the freezer door pops open when the refrigerator door is closed. A phenomenon the repair man calls "burping"....but it does not close after it "burps, resulting in defrosting of the food & ice crystals to build up inside. I am to get an energy star rebate at the end of the year but will have spent double that as it is extremely inefficient. Do not depend on the retailer to assist you. They refer you to a Frigidaire repair man and after that to the Frigidaire/Electrolux Company. They were unable to assist me in the return of this product. I will write to the CEO soon. Please beware when buying Frigidaire Products. They do not stand behind them and are of very poor quality.

Three months after purchase the freezer door pops open when you close the fridge. Bad design. I will contact the manufacturer. They need to make a fix.

GE : IM4A Ice Maker Kit

I ordered this unit to put in a GE refrigerator that did not contain an ice maker. The installation was not very difficult. It took me an hour or so to install (I was not rushing). It has been working great. It makes a great amount of ice in a short time. I am very happy with my purchase.

I ordered this model because it was the one listed in the Owner's Manual. lt turns out you can use the newer model (IM6, I believe) but it may or may not have some design/manufacturing flaws depending on what you read. Either way the unit works great and was easy to install. All of the parts I needed were included (even a few that I didn't need because they came with our refrigerator).

The only complaint I have is probably more a design flaw: the ice tends to overfill the bucket until it overflows. It could be an install error on my part I suppose but there isn't too much room for error.

When I first ordered this, I called GE because the directions weren't clear (they say to find a letter decal on the back of the fridge; we didn't have one). GE said this ice maker wouldn't work with my fridge. I called the manufacturer of the fridge and they said this ice maker wouldn't work. I ordered one from them. Thank goodness I hadn't returned this yet. That company sent me a used, broken ice maker...the same model as this! I returned the broken used one, which cost twice as much as the unit from Amazon, plus the unit from Amazon is complete with ALL necessary parts. I did have to call a handy man to install because of the directions issue. Maybe someone handy wouldn't need to. This ice maker is working perfectly! I definitely recommend this item.

When it is constantly running, it seems to work to reduce odors. But it must cycle on and off, because about half the time my refrigerator smells like garlic and onions. Baking soda worked much better. I just tried this to avoid changing the baking soda and in case it did actually help produce life. I saw it reviewed on the Today Show. I am no longer listening to ANY of their product reviews as they seem to do no testing themselves.

Ever since it was new, there's always been a "refrigerator smell" in my top-mounted freezer. Couldn't make edible ice cubes, and plastic bags absorbed the odors also. Since I've had this little gadget, the smell is GONE! Wish I'd found it sooner.

Some ozone emission, but acceptable. Most importantly it does emit a stream of electrons to ionize the air Oxygen! In a refrigerator this does wonders to precipitating malodorous gases in the refrigerator.

I bought as it was the ONLY battery powered Air cleaner I could find. It has two settings, there are NO directions as to what the settings are. It is terribly difficult to figure out if it is off or on?

Near as I can tell it does not clean that I can tell. Worthless!

GE Profile 259 Cu Ft Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Thru-the-Doo

I bought this refrigerator in January and had it delivered to my home in February. I've had it for almost 4 months now and haven't had any issues. The appliance itself is beautiful, inside and out. It's very large, so make sure you measure and have the space for it before you order it. I feel like this appliance and the other matching ones I ordered gave my kitchen an instant facelift!

The temperature controls on the front are handy. I don't mess with them much, but there is an option for extra cooling in the fridge section for when you go grocery shopping and put your items inside. It cools them down faster than normal to reduce bacteria. The ice maker works well. Occasionally I have issues with the ice clumping together and I have to reach in and shake it all around, but I've had that issue with many other icemakers. I haven't had an issue with the shelving the way the other reviewer mentioned, but occasionally I have trouble getting my cheese drawer to pull out. It seems to stick somewhat, but isn't a big deal. That's the only issues I've had at all with this.

I made sure to purchase my appliances from Lowe's when they were running a rebate through GE. I also sued a 10% off coupon to help lower the price even more. I'd definitely recommend trying to get the best deal possible because the Profile series from GE does run quite a bit higher than most other brands. I think you get a prettier product, but not necessarily a better one. Hope this helps you make your decision.

Have a 2 year old side by side GE profile, it started to get warmer and running constantly. Had the repairman come out to look at it, he said the condensing coil is leaking. The fix would be replace the compressor, condensing coil and evaporator coil the whole sealed unit. I asked the repairman isn't this unusual for a frig to be only 2 years old and have this type of problem. He said because I live by the ocean in an corrosive environment this is the reason this happened. I mentioned to him that I had a 15 year old Whirlpool refrigerator in the utility room that has been running just find all this time. The only good thing out of this is that problem in the sealed unit is covered under a 5 year warranty.

If you search on the Internet you will find lots of people, including myself who have purchased these side-by-side GE refrigerator/freezers and have problems with the shelving constantly collapsing and sending your food tumbling out of the unit when you open the door. This is clearly a design flaw. They made the shelves too narrow and they will fall in between the notches that are meant to hold them. AVOID!

Oster 4208 Inspire Electric Wine Opener with Wine Chiller

I was surprised as to how well this item actually worked when we opened and started using it. I purchased this as a 'filler' gift for my wife for Christmas. Knowing that it was a gadjety gift I did not have high expecations. We used this for fun and found out how easy it is to use and how cleanly it removes the cork. It opens many bottles on one charge, although we have not yet tried to prove the box statement correct that it opens 30 bottles on one charge.

Good for a person who struggles with conventional wine openers and breaking corks.

The bonus wine chiller is stylish and functional.

We actually originally bought just the wine opener at a department store. As is usual with Amazon, this online price is waaay better than what we paid for the wine opener ALONE...I was told at a dinner party that Amazon had the wine opener for less than what I paid so we went online to order several of these as gifts and found we could get the wine chiller too for less!

Not only do these two wine lovers love the opener, but every time we use it in front of someone they fall in love and want one so it's the perfect gift.

So...we ordered a few with the wine chiller and tried out the wine chiller as well and are equally as impressed! We had a dinner party and ran low on white wine. A fast chill provided by the wine chiller kept the dinner party flowing smoothly.

We had a $150 dollar wine opener that didn't work nearly as impressive and easily as this one did. In fact, a wine opener just like this is still in wine catalogs for over $100. It may even be the same one...that's the first place we saw it.

As for how it works...place it on the bottle, push the button, ZIP...it uncorks it for you.

TO REMOVE THE CORK: (totally easy) you just push the button in reverse and it pops it right out for you to remove it! Anyone who didn't know this trick may not have read that part of the instructions as I could see that trying to remove it otherwise would be difficult. but it's a cinch if you push that reverse button...even easier than removing it from a manual opener!

CONCLUSION: I love to drink wine but hate opening it and have broken enough corks in my day to realize I shouldn't. This is uncorkage 101 at it's finest whether you are a pro opener or as clumsy as me...looks impressive, is a major conversation piece once you use it, works in seconds with no brainpower needed, and the battery charge lasts so long that we even took it on a cruise and uncorked our wine during the whole trip perfectly and still came home and used it for a few weeks without having to recharge!

The wine chiller works just as well as the ones costing hundreds more. We are a lover of Oster and Amazon for this bargain set for our gift giving!! My parents, who have everything, are as hooked as we are on this and now gift it themselves to others.

And, more importantly, we've had it for a year now and it's as good as new. Some more expensive wine openers we've had had more fragile pieces that didn't hold up.

While it's the perfect gift, you'll want to keep it for yourself if you don't yet have one.

Ok. Perhaps I'm a bit unique in that I like---SCRATCH THAT!---I LOVE a certain Sangiovese/Syrah wine...so much that I buy it by the case and it is almost ALL I drink. Well, I thought this electric wine opener would make my life simpler and ordered it. To my dismay, I find that my beloved wine has a synthetic cork and this opener won't work AT ALL to open it. :-( Ok, I'm agreeable, so I decide I will save it to use on the nice little Torrontes that I like in warmer weather. Well, I recently had occasion to try the opener on that bottle and guess what??? Yep, it has a synthetic cork also and now I have a USELESS product occupying precious counter space because I didn't try on the white until months later (I bought it in the winter) and now it is too late to return it.

I wish the maker would state that it will NOT open bottles with synthetic corks. Check which type of cork you are likely to need opened before ordering this opener. I am a very unhappy customer.

Spoke with Oster CS and they told me that NONE of their electric wine openers work with the synthetic/plastic corks. NONE OF THEM! Also said that their product info doesn't state that they do and they are NOT responsible for the descriptions Amazon puts up. Of course this item is now outside of the return window. Fortunately it didn't cost an arm & a leg but I hate throwing away $$ regardless. Many, many, many wines now have the synthetic corks so even if I did broaden my tastes this wine opener has a GREAT chance of STILL being USELESS to me. SHAME ON YOU AMAZON for not EXPLICITLY stating this critical detail AND OSTER... SHAME ON YOU FOR MAKING A CORKSCREW THAT DOESN'T OPEN SO GREAT A PERCENTAGE OF WINE BOTTLES.

I received this as a gift last Christmas. I have used it consistently now and it never fails. It is almost too easy. The trick is to hold the bottle so that it does not move, preferably supported by the counter, and lightly press down with the opener. Once you get the trick it is like slicing a piece of cake. No messed up cork screws just a smooth opener. It takes up very little room on the counter and once charged works for quite a few openings.
