I had one of these mini-fridges when I was in school and I loved it. It broke on me recently, so I replaced it with this one. IT IS LOUSY!! I couldn't actually try it because it only came with the car charger. To use it anywhere besides the car, you need to special order the adaptor. It will cost $19.95 for the adaptor and $5.95 to ship it. And it would take 2 4 weeks to arrive! This is ridiculous! I am sending mine back. Don't be fooled. If you want to use a mini fridge in a dorm room or office, THIS IS NOT THE PRODUCT FOR YOU!!
I should have listened to the first review that said there was no adapter, instead of the second review that implied there was one. I figured that since the power supply was even shown in one of the pictures, surely it was included. I consider this ad to be extremely deceptive, and far below Amazon's standards.
I was getting this fridge to replace one a lot like it that my wife loved until it stopped working. When this one got here (with the 12V car cord only), I discovered that there was no 12V power supply with it, so it was useless to her in her office. Now I need to pay another $26 for the power supply. In the meantime, I have figured out (by using the 12V cord in the car) that both fridges work, and it was a bad power supply all along. If we still had the box, I'd return this fridge.

This is a very well designed and well thought out refrigerator. Without question, the nicest fridge I've ever owned.... with one problem. This unit was shipped from the factory with a non-functioning ice maker. After a month of trying to get it fixed, we're shipping it back to Mexico tomorrow. There's really no excuse for a company with a reputation like Electrolux to ship products that don't work. Too bad we really like the design. But we'll be looking elsewhere now.

I purchased my Allavino dual zone wine fridge about 7 or 8 weeks ago. I looked at quite a few and this one seemed to meet most of my requirements. It arrived by trucker about 10 days later. While the outside of the packaging looked fine, it was badly damaged on the inside. I immediately contacted Amazon, who in turn contacted the Beverage Factory (BV). After I forwarded a few pictures of the damage, I must say that BV was courteous, helpful and said they would ship a replacement unit right away. Right away took longer than expected (about 2 weeks) and I had to take another day off to wait for the truck (too big and heavy for standard carriers). This one was fine and thus far is working properly. Pros simple, clean design and maintains temperatures well in both zones. Cons a little noisy and the bottom shelf is junky. Other shelves have nice glides, but the bottom shelf just lies there and does not pull out well, at all. Overall I am satisfied with the unit and the Beverage Factory. A few minor changes and it would be "excellent".
We saw the Amana French-door bottom-freezer fridge about a year ago and fell in love with it. As it turns out, we have had a fairly mixed experience with it.
I'll say that there are quite a few things that we like about it. Overall, we like the layout and flexibility of this fridge a lot. All of the shelves are adjustable to allow for customizing the space for what we need. The layout makes the fridge feel bigger than the other 25 CF fridges we've used or looked at. The quality of the ice maker and water filtration is nice. I do find the bottom-freezer a nice feature for our family. The best feature of the French-doors for us is that they don't swing open as wide as conventional doors, which is good for energy usage and for not blocking passage through our tight kitchen. They're also convenient when you have to grab something quick out of the door.
That said, after using it a while, there are a few things that we don't like about this fridge:
1) After a few months of use, it started getting kind of loud. As it turns out, this was the sound of the cooling fan dying. When it finally died, we had no cold air in the fridge compartment. It was still under warranty, but I wasn't happy about replacing the fan after only about 7 months. (It's still occasionally louder than I'd prefer, but most of the time it is OK.)
2) The water filter dispenser is on the inside of the fridge compartment rather than on the outside of the unit. Combined with the fact that its flow is a little on the slow side, it seems to me that a lot of energy is wasted each time I have to leave the door open for 30 seconds to get a glass of water.
3) The top cover of the Chef's Pantry drawer is not the highest quality component. It pops off once every two weeks or so for me (though, in fairness, my wife doesn't report this problem, so it might just be me). It's easy to put back on, but something I don't feel that I should have to worry about with a $1600 fridge.
Overall, we probably would buy the same fridge again. I'd probably pass on the water filtration option until they figure out a way to get access from the outside of the fridge. I'd probably also want to make sure to get the extended warranty.
We have owned this fridge for less than 2 years and it recently broke down. We lost all the contents of the fridge ($100's) and the repair cost us over $200. The problem was the evaporator fan. I read the warrantee and it claimed to cover the evaporator. When I called Amana to get the repair covered they told me that they only cover the evaporator coil, not the fan. The manual and warrantee document did not make this distinction. Even so, this is not an inexpensive fridge and it should go more than 2 years without breaking down. Shame on Amana for not standing behind this product and shame on Amana for hiding behind shades of warrantee language.
I've had this unit for almost exactly two years and am disappointed in its performance. You have to open the French doors to get to the water dispenser. I think this feature wastes energy and creates the potential for problems. I found this review page because I was checking to see if there were recalls on this model. In two years, I have replaced the fan that delivers cool air from the freezer to the refrigerator twice. Stay away from this model.
How did I ever get along without a filtered water dispenser? And an ice maker?
This Amana refrigerator is simply the best. We have owned ours for about a year. In that time, its operation has been flawless. Its size and convenient features make for large capacity storage and easy use.
The pros:
An internal filtered water dispenser, which is hooked up to the house's water supply, provides for fresh cold water at any time (and the filter is easy to change).
An ice maker that works quickly. One day's ice production lasts me almost a week (I don't have kids). An added benefit: the ice maker is hooked up to the filtered water system.
The French doors, which provide lots of storage space. You get the convenience of a side-by-side, but without loosing all that space.
The chef's pantry drawer. A really nice feature. It has its own temperature control, and is normally colder than the rest of the fridge. Great for storing meats, cheeses, and eggs.
Easy-to-adjust temperature controls keep overall temperature consistent, both in the fridge and freezer.
The large capacity freezer, which pulls straight out. We have plenty of room to stock up, and it's convenient on the bottom. The top bin slides out for easy access. The bottom bin pulls out when you open the door.
Crisper drawers that really keep things crisp.
Four adjustable spill-saver shelves made of easy-to-clean tempered glass.
Five adjustable door bins that have lots of room. They have rubber bottoms that come out for easy cleaning.
The lonely, and only, little con:
The location of the on/off arm for the ice maker is a little inconvenient. It's on the left side in the back of the freezer. The premise is that when the ice bin is full, the arm will rise and snap to the off position. If I ever let the fridge make that much ice, it would last me a year. I find myself snapping it on/off manually, and it's a little awkward to reach.
Overall, this refrigerator is superior to any I have owned in the past. For me, it was like going from the smallest compact car to a large SUV (but it's still an energy saver!). Highly recommended.

We've had this refrigerator for just over 1-1/2 years. It has broken down once (right after the warranty expired) same issue as others had (the fan). Is is noisy. The freezer handle has broken off completely once, and has popped off again since being repaired. The interior drawer cover is worthless. The stainless steel is of poor quality and is easily dented (even dropping an ice cube on the top of the freezer drawer is enough to create a dent. One of the worst appliance decisions I've ever made.
We almost did not buy this product because the description lists one model of Frigidaire plus two other similar model numbers which will allegedly fit. We called Frigidaire, although our refrigerator is neither of the ones described, and were assured that the filter shown would fit almost any Frigidaire refrigerator. We ordered from Amazon and it did indeed fit although our unit was not of the type or model number listed!
Have you ever gone to your local hardware store to try to purchase one of these? What a hassle. They are on aisle so and so, sorry we are out of that filter, we can order it for you, it should take about three weeks.
Surprise here it is at Amazon.com. Ordered on line and received in three days complete with replacement instructions. Not only that but this company offers a follow up service that will remind you that your next refrigerator filter change is coming up.

I bought this because my last filter needed replacing, received this filter and installation was easy, however the water coming from this filter have a rotten smell to it, like sulfur...and taste was not the same as the previous filter. read up on many forums and even called Frigidaire to inquire about the smell and taste, they said I need to run the water atleast 5 gallons of water thru the filter before the smell and taste are "normal"....I never had this issues with other filters before. So after 5 gallons, still not good, I would say I ran 15+ gallons of water thru the filter...the smell and taste are near normal but not quite...after 1+ months of use, the smell is gone...but the taste are still not the same as the original filter.
All refrigerators that have water filters force you to replace filters or the ice maker will not operate. They should have water filters that can be cleaned and recycled by the consumer. Amazon's price was the best on the net that I could find. Manufactures of these filters have a captive matket. amazon's price alleviates some of the pain.
In the year we have had the refrigerator that uses these filters we have had to replace the filter four times. Only once was it because it was time to change the filter. The others leak profusely within 4-5 months. The last one didn't even make it to six weeks. I called Electrolux ( the actual manufacturerNOT Frigidaire) and they acknowledged that it had leaked prematurely but wouldn't replace nor compensate me because it wasn't purchased directly from them. If possible find a different brand and use that. I know I will.
I bought this refrigerator in January and had it delivered to my home in February. I've had it for almost 4 months now and haven't had any issues. The appliance itself is beautiful, inside and out. It's very large, so make sure you measure and have the space for it before you order it. I feel like this appliance and the other matching ones I ordered gave my kitchen an instant facelift!
The temperature controls on the front are handy. I don't mess with them much, but there is an option for extra cooling in the fridge section for when you go grocery shopping and put your items inside. It cools them down faster than normal to reduce bacteria. The ice maker works well. Occasionally I have issues with the ice clumping together and I have to reach in and shake it all around, but I've had that issue with many other icemakers. I haven't had an issue with the shelving the way the other reviewer mentioned, but occasionally I have trouble getting my cheese drawer to pull out. It seems to stick somewhat, but isn't a big deal. That's the only issues I've had at all with this.
I made sure to purchase my appliances from Lowe's when they were running a rebate through GE. I also sued a 10% off coupon to help lower the price even more. I'd definitely recommend trying to get the best deal possible because the Profile series from GE does run quite a bit higher than most other brands. I think you get a prettier product, but not necessarily a better one. Hope this helps you make your decision.
Have a 2 year old side by side GE profile, it started to get warmer and running constantly. Had the repairman come out to look at it, he said the condensing coil is leaking. The fix would be replace the compressor, condensing coil and evaporator coil the whole sealed unit. I asked the repairman isn't this unusual for a frig to be only 2 years old and have this type of problem. He said because I live by the ocean in an corrosive environment this is the reason this happened. I mentioned to him that I had a 15 year old Whirlpool refrigerator in the utility room that has been running just find all this time. The only good thing out of this is that problem in the sealed unit is covered under a 5 year warranty.
If you search on the Internet you will find lots of people, including myself who have purchased these side-by-side GE refrigerator/freezers and have problems with the shelving constantly collapsing and sending your food tumbling out of the unit when you open the door. This is clearly a design flaw. They made the shelves too narrow and they will fall in between the notches that are meant to hold them. AVOID!
TL;DR: Whirlpool/Maytag service is TERRIBLE. If you buy their products buy a backup fridge! You'll need it!
Let me be clear on this up front the fridge is nice, lots of space. This is NOT at all a review of the seller (it was purchased brick and mortar store).
The service is another story. Customer service is courteous BUT getting anything done is a HUGE pain in the rear. My wife and I bought this fridge from Home Depot in January this year (2011). We got it home let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it in. One week later we noticed ice cream not being very firm, few days later everything was thawed out.
I contacted Maytag service and began the nightmare of service:
First service appointment. Sears repair comes out to troubleshoot the fridge tells me the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced. The earliest they can get me in is 7 DAYS later, mind you I'm already 3 DAYS without a fridge.
Second service appointment. Return of Sears repairman. The compressor is replaced, dye dryer is installed (this is an important detail it allows other techs to use a UV light to spot any leaks). Fridge runs great, nice and cold, case closed....
Not so fast!
About 3 months go by and the same problem crops up we start to notice in the freezer. I contact Maytag service right away. I explain to them the situation, I ask for a replacement fridge at this point. They outright refuse to replace it and insist on having ANOTHER tech come out to troubleshoot the problem so they can get a "second opinion". The service rep conferences me in with the local Direct Maytag store. I specifically tell them to bring a UV light that the fridge has a dye dryer on it; to which I'm told "they'll make a note of it."
Third service appointment. Direct Maytag service shows up 4 days later. I kid you not, the tech comes ONLY WITH A MULTIMETER, no tools other than screwdriver!!! WTF?!?! Tells me that the compressor is bad no kidding. < sarcasm >I couldn't tell this by the fact my fridge was warmer than the outside air temp!< /sarcasm > He tells me they have to send someone else with the tools to look at it!
I'm going on 4 days of having to take off work now because they'll always be there between 8am 5pm!
Fourth service appointment. Direct Maytag shows up again this time within 2 days. Again, no UV light. Tech says he found a leak (not sure how) in the original work that Sears did he would like to "patch it". He refills the fridge with coolant (05/18/11).
Come yesterday (06/06/11) the fridge is warm again. I called Maytag AGAIN. Spoke with someone who told me they can't authorize a replacement fridge until they talk to Direct Maytag (who called them and spoke with them on the last repair in May while I stood there).
Be warned... Maytag was a acquired by Whirlpool!
I would recommend staying away from any of the following companies.. they all use the same parts and service teams:
Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht and Gladiator
I can imagine that the service would be right on par with this nightmare!
I did not purchase from Amazon I love Amazon but I HATE THIS REFRIGERATOR and I will never buy MAYTAG again. This is my 2nd MAYTAG refrigerator in the last 6 yrs I thought the 1st one was just a lemon but then I got this one and I think ALL MAYTAGs are lemons!!!! 2 yrs into the 2nd refrigerator it would not cool anymore sears repair service came and replaced the thermostat then one month later thermostat failed again repair service came back said defective part put another thermostat on then 6 months after that guess what yep bad thermostat so they put another one on. I am now in the process of shopping for a new NON-MAYTAG refrigerator since I no longer can trust this one or the service people.
I purchased the MFF2558VEW from HomeDepot August of 2011 and now I must call the HomeDepot because water (ice) pools at the bottom of the freezer. However before that, the complaints I keep seeing about the frost line where the Freezer closes has always been an issue. The inside of the refrigerator has a "humidity control" and the instructions tell you to use it when you see "extra" condensation building...worthless button. The temperature does fluctuate quite a bit and sometimes I just turn it off for 10 minutes and it seems to reset and maintain normal temperatures for 2-3 weeks before needing to do it again.
Thankfully, I bought the extended warranty from HomeDepot and will be contacting them; I wanted to wait for the regular warranty to expire since dealing with Home Depot is much better than Maytag. I wish anyone luck on finding a quality refrigerator from any manufacturer. I will follow-up after I have the Home Depot folks look at it.
Nothing but trouble. Replacement refrigerator needed new compressor. Can't get the old water filter out and so wasted $100.00 on buying replacements. Don't buy Maytag (actually whirlpool).
I am a a/c fridge tech. I do not like non OEM products as a rule for these items since they sometimes have a short life or can cause problems with units even if they fit. However, instead of paying up to $69.00 for LG's OEM LT 500 P, I read the reviews people posted who bought this filter. Other then it cycles less gallons then the OEM and may not have the additional micro filter as the OEM, I was able to purchased from this vendor a twin pack for $37.50 and free shipping. Less then $19.00 each. If both this filters lasted as long as the OEM, I still save $30.00. I took a chance and purchased these filters. They fit my fridge perfectly and no leaks. After bleeding the filter for 15 minutes, the water came out crystal clear. Since buying it in June, it has performed perfectly. I do have a 5 year line filter on my main water supply which I got from Home Depot twice and did last 5 years to catch the microbs smaller then any other filter and this cost $30.00. This filter origionally was for our drinking water and I just started the second one a few days ago after I installed the non OEM fridge filter. The water and ice from the WSL-1 came out as clear, odorless, and no bad taste for a month before I put the other line filter on as a backup. I could not tell the difference between this filter from WaterSentinel and the more expensive professional filter. I will check the fridge filter in 6 months and change it with the second one it came with just to cut it open and see what it caught the first six months and re-comment back here again. Bottome line I went over 300 words to say this is a good deal either way. Do not use any other vendor since some of them take forever to ship and no guarentee. I received the WaterSentinel in 7 days of ordering and they were new. Hope this helps.
I don't know what fridge we have but I know it's a Kenmore which is actually made by LG and I assume that because I needed LG filters that cost me my first child.
Thank the sweet lawd for these at like 1/2 the price. Fit perfectly and the water still tastes like water.
This is a great filter and is compatible to Sears Kenmore refrigerator, only much less expensive! I could instantly tell the water taste much better with using it.
I purchased this filter at the great price offered which is 1/3 of the cost of an OEM one at Sears. I know you aren't supposed to do this but mine is working great and has been in there for almost 2 YEARS!!! I haven't had a bit of trouble.
I bought and installed this in June, and I am now starting to taste a difference in the water from the fridge, so it is time to replace it. I expected it to last at least 6 months, but at the price, it's cheaper than most so I'll take it! It did do a great job at filtering the water while installed, so overall a solid thumbs up.
I purchased a 3 pack (not from Amazon) for use in my GE Profile refrigerator. The first one worked fine, but when it came time to replace it, the second one would not work. After installing the second filter I received no water through the dispenser.
First I thought something was wrong with the water line. I pulled out the fridge and checked water flow into the dispenser. Water flow was good. I then started thinking the water valve was broken, but it seemed curious to me that it failed exactly when I replaced the filter....so I tried putting the first Aqua Fresh filter back on. But again, no water.
Before I started replacing valves, I wanted to completely rule out the filter as potential cause so I put the bypass plug into the filter holder and water began to flow again.
At this point I'm thinking it must be the filter. I go to the local store plop down the the ridiculous sum of $43 for the GE brand filter, plug it in, and it works! I then compared the Aqua Fresh filter side by side with the GE brand and found that the diameter and construction of the socket inside the Aqua Fresh filter is different than the GE. The socket needs to be able to depress and hold a spring loaded valve underneath the filter holder in order for water to flow into the filter. However, the Aqua Fresh filter sometimes will not completely depress and hold the valve open when mounted. Some of them work, some of them don't.
Anyway, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm going to stick with the overpriced GE brand, seeking out the best deal I can get on Amazon.
This is an "after-market" product that costs about 1/3 less than the original name-brand replacement. When I received it, it seemed as if it could possibly be used. I suspected this b/c the label affixed to the filter had sort of "stretch" tears on it (the kind of tear from a twisting motion that might occur from torquing the product in or out). Besides that, there is a seal that goes on the very top which was present but not affixed, and the box seemed a bit dirty/smudged. I put the filter in after following the directions of filling it with water, etc., and I immediately noticed a strange taste in the water. I thought maybe I just needed to run it for a while, but the taste never went away. I kept it in for several weeks but both the water and the ice tasted weird. I contacted the company & they assured me it was brand new and offered to refund my money. I returned it to them & got a prompt refund, which was great (they were very responsive & pleasant to deal with). Then I purchased the name-brand part & the water tasted normal again (after running about a gallon through). I'm going to stick to the name-brand original part from now on.
I've purchased two of these now and both of them started giving the water a plastic taste after about a month. I'll gladly pay a bit more for a filter that actually lasts as long as it's supposed to. Definitely would not recommend purchasing these.
This is a generic water filter for different refrigerators, however, when we tried it in our GE side by side fridge the water dispenser stopped working. After getting a technician in to look at it we learned that for GE you really do need to get the GE specific water filter MWF. So don't waste your time with this one, spend the extra money on the specific filter to be on the safe side.
