LG 4.2 CF WASHER FRONT CONTROL WHITE

LG 4.2 CF WASHER FRONT CONTROL WHITE
  • Electronic Control Panel With Dial-A-Cycle
  • LoDecibel Quiet System
  • Intelligent Electronic Controls With LED Display
  • Dimensions (WHD): 27 X 38 11/16 X 29 3/4 In.

Our old washing machine broke a couple of months ago; and, even though we could have fixed it, we decided it was time to go with a new front loader instead. The main reason we wanted front loading machines was because of the space savings when stacked. After a week of research, we settled on either this LG model or the comparable Samsung, based on reading pretty much every review we could find we settled on the LG because of price.

Aside from the fact that these are extremely heavy compared to our old top loaders, the installation was fairly straight forward. The water hoses are a couple of feet longer than a typical washer hose (even other front loaders), which was great for us since we ended up stacking them a few feet from the water inputs. They are also very easy to setup and use.

At first we were a bit nervous about the height of the machines when stacked, but those fears were completely unfounded. I'm 5'9" and I can access both the washer and dryer with ease. The washer tub is actually tilted upward to make it easier to access when it's sitting on the floor instead of a stand. As a quick reference, if you're worried about the height, the bottom of the dryer opening sits at 54" when stacked, the center of the dryer control knob sits at 76", and the top of the dryer is at 79".

Aside from the obvious space savings, here are the things we've really liked about this washer:

1) It runs very quietly with no noticeable vibration. I was worried about this after reading reviews for other front loaders, but it hasn't been a problem at all even with both the washer & dryer stacked and running at the same time.

2) It gets our clothes at least as clean as our old washer ever did; but it uses a lot less water to do it. (It's supposed to be easier on the clothes too, but I have no way to verify that.)

3) The controls are intuitive and easy to use.

4) We can fit an amazing amount in each load. Our old washer was a high capacity top loader, but this thing can probably clean almost twice as many clothes in each load. It is especially nice when it comes time to clean bedding that didn't even fit in the old washer.

5) I love the load sense feature. This is one of the things you should read the manual to figure out how to use; but it is definitely worth the effort. Basically, it tells you how much detergent you need to add in order to get the clothes clean for that particular load I use it to tell me when the load is full by just adding clothes until it says I need the full amount of deterget:). It really does eliminate a lot of guess-work.

As usual, there are some things I wish I could change:

1) You can't use powder detergent with liquid bleach in the same load. You need to have either powder or liquid for both.

2) The controls don't remember settings, which can be a bit irritating since we use the same settings 95% of the time. Luckily they are easy to set, but you do need to reprogram it every time you turn it on.

3) The washer door only opens one way (the hinge is on the left), which is great if that's the way you need it to open. In our case, it opened the wrong way so we had to rearrange the room a bit. Fortunately, the long hoses made it possible to rearrange everything without a lot of extra effort or expense.

Another thing I had read about the front loaders was that the door needs to be left open between loads. I thought this would be a pain, but it really hasn't been a big deal at all. The manual doesn't actually recommend doing that; but says to periodically run a tub clean cycle (I think it says to do it every month) to eliminate any odor. I figure I'll leave the door open as well just to be safe.

Overall we are extremely pleased with these. I guess time will tell if they hold up as well as our old top loader did, but so far I'm pretty confident that they will. I highly recommend these if you're looking for a new washer and dryer.

I have had this LG front loader WM2301HW for 2 weeks. It replaced a Frigidaire front loader that was 3 years old and was a lemon. I read several internet postings about my new LG WM2301HW that have turned out to be false. The machine works great. It does not collect a puddle of water in the rubber seal around the door like the old one did and does not have a musty smell after each wash. The clothes come out very clean. They come out less wrinkled that the Frigidaire machine. I love the extra rinse cycle because it gets out the excess detergent that breaks down fabrics and leaves them stiff. My clothes are softer than ever and I can use less fabric softener. Consumer Reports said the machine was noisy but I have not found that to be so. My machine is in an upstairs clostet and I don't have any noise problem. There are also no vibration problems.I really like the little tune it plays instead of a buzz a the end of it's cycle. Controls are easy to use and understand. Some sites commented about the lint trap spewing water but I did not have that problem. I emptied the water with the rubber drain as suggested and then removed the lint trap without problems. Others complaied it couldn't take large bulky loads but I have done several large/bulky loads without trouble.

My only complaint is that you cannot set the machine to the highest spin cycle when you use the large/bulky wash cycle. Customer service informs me this is part of the design and not just an error with my machine. I believe the bulky/large load is when you need the highest spin cycle the most and that this is a major design flaw that LG must correct. However I have used the high spin with the normal wash load and it has worked OK so far for towels and blankets etc.. I would definatly recommend this washer

Easy to run., very quiet, almost too quiet. Says if you have a loud machine it's not balanced right. Use a level!! Only thing I hate is the cycle end alarm music. Too soft to hear if in another room. Thought my kenmore used just a touch of detergent but this is even better. Do 12-15 loads a week and so far after 4 weeks it still runs like day one. If you do alot of laundry no reason to leave the door open or use tub wash. Model LG WM2301hw. Check around for pricing. Huge swing over $500 diffence between sellers.

I have owned this machine for about 1 year. The clothes just haven't been getting clean. It was just horrible. I could not tell the tub had any water during the wash cycle and I wondered if this was the cause of my troubles.

I raised the lid and I found the water level sensor. I got a phillips screwdriver and turned the set screw and started the machine. Good Lord, the machine filled up to just under the gray door seal. I was shocked!

For one year I put up with smelling my scent in the clothing after a cycle was completed. My towels came out stinking and when I put them to my face to dry off in the shower they stunk horribly.

This procedure took less than 20 minutes for me to do. I was ready to purchase a different machine but I love mine now. It does use more water but at least it works!

We have owned this machine for 10 months and have had nothing but trouble.

Further more we cannot get LG to stand behind this product.

They now think it is a bearing problem, but we have been 7 days trying to get someone to come out and service it.

I love crushed Ice. After about 10 years this fitting exploded on my Kitchenaid Refrigerator/Freezers Ice Maker. I got this replacement cheap and fast and I'm back in business. It's been in about a month now and seems to be working fine.

Not much to say -it's the correct replacement part for certain Whirlpool and Kenmore brand refrigerators made by Whirlpool. The original part broke on my Kenmore, I got this one to replace it, and now my ice dispenser works again.

SAMSUNG OEM DC47-00015A Thermostat;B-2,-,250

SAMSUNG OEM DC47-00015A Thermostat;B-2,-,250First, I dont like to pay repairman for jobs I can do. There are lots of places/forums which you can ask the experts for the parts and help. Just take proper precautions while working with electrical items. That being said, replacing thermostats, limit switches and coils are very easy to replace for the relative handy person. These parts can easily be tested using a the cheapest basic multi-meter for continuity. My coil and thermostat went on my Maytag Neptune front loader. The packaging and shipping great as usual. I tested the thermostat for continuity prior to installing. While i was in there i ordered the other thermostat, limit switch and heating element(coil) and replaced them all (less than$100 for all of them) The dryer now has all new parts and works like a charm (changing the heating element certainly makes drying times faster!)

I bought thinking this was a different thermostat but this will be a spare. good price and nice to have on hand.

  • Brand new original replacement part.

I was a bit concerned that the part number did not match the part number on the crisper tray door that broke off of my LG fridge. The dimensions matched and it turned out to be an absolute match.

The original door was cheaply made and subject to to break and the replacement is exactly the same. You would think LG would make a more substantial door in what is supposed to be one of their top of the line products.

The seller sent exactly the part ordered and it arrived quickley. It's the LG design for this drawer that is flimsy. This is the ONLY thing about my LG that I'm not happy with so I guess it's not that bad!

The LG line of fridge/freezers is a well-thought out design and takes advantage of inexpensive replacement parts for those pieces which are easily misused by their owners....too much stress or torque or inadvertent impact can destroy any makers 'innards'. I'm happy that LG provides easy to install, cost effective replacements.

The door was the same shape and function, but it had no labeling as the picture indicated. So it works, it just doesn't match.

GE GXRTQ Refrigerator Water Filter SmartWater In-Line Filter Kit

GE GXRTQ Refrigerator Water Filter SmartWater In-Line Filter KitIt's an inline water filter.

Be sure to make flat and not angular cuts on your tubing if that's the installation method you choose. My cut was not exactly square on the line coming from the fridge. When the water was turned on I heard a bit of air escape from the fridge end of the filter where my uneven cut was. By the time I could reach to that area the water pressure blew the connection out and I had black carbon filter water shooting around the kitchen. You have to laugh. Especially when it's my career to maintain complex hardware on a daily basis. Once I got the water turned off and the spill cleaned up I cut the tubing squarely and reinstalled. Been without issue since. It do what it do if I do my part.

I'm sure the filter itself is decent enough, but I never even got that far. The product comes with plastic quick-disconned fittings that get fastened to the copper tubing by compression. Problem is the compression nut is brass, and the fitting is plastic. If you dont' have the threads exactly lined up, it is extremely easy to strip the threads. Which I did... Haven't looked yet how available a replacement quick-disconnect fitting is, but my guess is not readily available. Recommend to GE that they make the quick disconnects out of brass or something more robust than plastic.

I have been happily using the GXRTQ aka GXRTQR filter for years but I am told it is being discontinued by GE. So I bought a Whirlpool WHKF-IMPLUS instead and it works fine as a replacement! Just be sure to transfer the screw-in quick connect adapters from the GXRTQ filter body to the Whirlpool filter, and you're good to go. Don't forget to use a bit of teflon tape on the threads.

Maytag MFF2558VEB 24.8 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator (Black)Maytag : MFF255

Maytag MFF2558VEB 24.8 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator
  • Electronic Dual Cool System
  • Sealed FreshLock Crispers With Humidity Control
  • QuietSeries 200 Sound Package
  • Dimensions: (WHD) 35 5/8 X 69 7/8 X 35 1/2 In.

TL;DR: Whirlpool/Maytag service is TERRIBLE. If you buy their products buy a backup fridge! You'll need it!

Let me be clear on this up front the fridge is nice, lots of space. This is NOT at all a review of the seller (it was purchased brick and mortar store).

The service is another story. Customer service is courteous BUT getting anything done is a HUGE pain in the rear. My wife and I bought this fridge from Home Depot in January this year (2011). We got it home let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it in. One week later we noticed ice cream not being very firm, few days later everything was thawed out.

I contacted Maytag service and began the nightmare of service:

First service appointment. Sears repair comes out to troubleshoot the fridge tells me the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced. The earliest they can get me in is 7 DAYS later, mind you I'm already 3 DAYS without a fridge.

Second service appointment. Return of Sears repairman. The compressor is replaced, dye dryer is installed (this is an important detail it allows other techs to use a UV light to spot any leaks). Fridge runs great, nice and cold, case closed....

Not so fast!

About 3 months go by and the same problem crops up we start to notice in the freezer. I contact Maytag service right away. I explain to them the situation, I ask for a replacement fridge at this point. They outright refuse to replace it and insist on having ANOTHER tech come out to troubleshoot the problem so they can get a "second opinion". The service rep conferences me in with the local Direct Maytag store. I specifically tell them to bring a UV light that the fridge has a dye dryer on it; to which I'm told "they'll make a note of it."

Third service appointment. Direct Maytag service shows up 4 days later. I kid you not, the tech comes ONLY WITH A MULTIMETER, no tools other than screwdriver!!! WTF?!?! Tells me that the compressor is bad no kidding. < sarcasm >I couldn't tell this by the fact my fridge was warmer than the outside air temp!< /sarcasm > He tells me they have to send someone else with the tools to look at it!

I'm going on 4 days of having to take off work now because they'll always be there between 8am 5pm!

Fourth service appointment. Direct Maytag shows up again this time within 2 days. Again, no UV light. Tech says he found a leak (not sure how) in the original work that Sears did he would like to "patch it". He refills the fridge with coolant (05/18/11).

Come yesterday (06/06/11) the fridge is warm again. I called Maytag AGAIN. Spoke with someone who told me they can't authorize a replacement fridge until they talk to Direct Maytag (who called them and spoke with them on the last repair in May while I stood there).

Be warned... Maytag was a acquired by Whirlpool!

I would recommend staying away from any of the following companies.. they all use the same parts and service teams:

Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht and Gladiator

I can imagine that the service would be right on par with this nightmare!

Buy Maytag : MFF255 Now

I did not purchase from Amazon I love Amazon but I HATE THIS REFRIGERATOR and I will never buy MAYTAG again. This is my 2nd MAYTAG refrigerator in the last 6 yrs I thought the 1st one was just a lemon but then I got this one and I think ALL MAYTAGs are lemons!!!! 2 yrs into the 2nd refrigerator it would not cool anymore sears repair service came and replaced the thermostat then one month later thermostat failed again repair service came back said defective part put another thermostat on then 6 months after that guess what yep bad thermostat so they put another one on. I am now in the process of shopping for a new NON-MAYTAG refrigerator since I no longer can trust this one or the service people.

Maybe I'm unreasonable, but I expected a $1000 refrigerator to last more than 2 years.

The warranty expired after one year, I am in the process of trying to get it repaired...

Want Maytag : MFF255 Discount?

I purchased the MFF2558VEW from HomeDepot August of 2011 and now I must call the HomeDepot because water (ice) pools at the bottom of the freezer. However before that, the complaints I keep seeing about the frost line where the Freezer closes has always been an issue. The inside of the refrigerator has a "humidity control" and the instructions tell you to use it when you see "extra" condensation building...worthless button. The temperature does fluctuate quite a bit and sometimes I just turn it off for 10 minutes and it seems to reset and maintain normal temperatures for 2-3 weeks before needing to do it again.

Thankfully, I bought the extended warranty from HomeDepot and will be contacting them; I wanted to wait for the regular warranty to expire since dealing with Home Depot is much better than Maytag. I wish anyone luck on finding a quality refrigerator from any manufacturer. I will follow-up after I have the Home Depot folks look at it.

Nothing but trouble. Replacement refrigerator needed new compressor. Can't get the old water filter out and so wasted $100.00 on buying replacements. Don't buy Maytag (actually whirlpool).

Avanti 1.7-Cubic Foot Superconductor Beverage Cooler W/Mirrored Finish Glass Door

Avanti 1.7-Cubic Foot Superconductor Beverage Cooler W/Mirrored Finish Glass Door
  • Glass Door
  • mirror finish
  • softtouch elect controls
  • digital display
  • led interior lighting

I put this in my home theater room. I love the look of it. It's styling fits well in my modern home theater room. It sits on top of this desk I use as a counter and is next to all the snacks. Looks great. I love the mirrored finish. I turn the light on when I want to see through to the contents. This Refrigerator works just like my outdoor one by GE. It has one of those fans not any coils. So the fan turns on and off to cool the unit. This can be noisy if no other noise is present. By noisy I mean a gentle humming sound. It's the presence of sound that is what is different. However, I guess I hear my kitchen fridge humming too. The racks could be sturdier. I do not know how you would get the number of cans they said on the description in this unless you possibly turned them to the side. It cools well and my drinks are cool on the medium setting. I would definitely recommend this unit. I think those who reviewed this badly used in areas where they were bound to have issues. This is not an outdoor unit. So do not expect great results outside or in a non regulated garage setting. This fridge will be great if you use indoors in a temperature controlled area.

I'm not sure why they sell it as a see through mirror front face. You can barely see through it. It works great! Keeps all my drinks ice cold and the best part is it is almost completely silent as it runs.

It's not what I expected. I was hoping to be able to use this for drinks and beverages.

Few minuses:

Doesn't cool, if is hot outside, the beverage is not cold.

Runs continuously (not high efficiency as advertised)

  • Measures 10-1/5 by 19-2/3 by 19-1/2 inches

It appears that Koolatron did not measure current wine bottles: Forget about putting Sylvaner, Gewuerztraminer, Pinot Gris, Rieslings from France into it (bottles are too long); forget about Alban's (CA) Viognier etc. (bottle has too large a diameter); forget about some Loire Valley whites (again diameter). That's all I've tried before giving up.

My Koolatron WC08 is only about 2 years old. When new, it performed just fine. If I set it to say 50F, it would stay within one degree of that setting. Later I noticed it couldn't keep up in the summer when the house might get up to 80F inside. Now it can't maintain proper temp at all....It always runs at least five degrees warmer than the setting. This unit is not durable.

After about one year the unit simply stopped cooling. We could hear a fan but no cooling. Since the warranty is only 90 days, we now have a piece of useless junk where we can store bottles at room temperature. Cannot recommend because of poor reliability.

GE GXRTDR In-Line Refrigerator/Icemaker Filter

GE GXRTDR In-Line Refrigerator/Icemaker FilterMy wife bought the GXRTDR in-line water filter because the GXRTQR filter was no longer available and the box said it would work as a replacement. As far as I can tell, it will only work if your old tubing is 1/4 in. Mine is 1/2 in. There were adapter fittings for the GXRTQR so I never had any problem with replacing it. I tried to do an install, thinking that the stub of a tube inside the fitting would marry, but it was too short, so I had to put the old filter back on. I have to either replace the tubes on fridge & at the faucet, or find another filter.

I bought the GXRTDR in-line water filter as a replacement to the GXRTQR filter. What a huge mistake! The old filter had a very secure connection. The new GXRTDR has a "quick-connect" style connector. (Ideally, you cut the tube and just stick it in the connector, and it automatically locks in-place. The connector is a little like a "Chinese Finger Trap" where you stick your fingers in a woven bamboo cylinder and your fingers won't come out until you compress the weave.) Anyway, I've used quick-connectors at my work for many years and never had a problem, but I had never used this brand. I pulled the fridge out of its niche and followed the directions. I cut out my old filter hardware and installed the new filter. I let the water run to clear the initial carbon particles, and then I checked for leakage and the connectors seemed to be sealed. I put the refrigerator back in the niche and sometime that night, it sprung a leak at the internal o-ring seal. My kitchen is on the second floor, so the water leaked through the floor soaking the drywall ceiling in the bedroom below. It was a huge expensive, time-wasting mess.

Buy GE GXRTDR In-Line Refrigerator/Icemaker Filter Now

Like the above poster I got this filter to replace my previous GXRTQR inline filter.

My only complaint is that the outlet port for the water tubing was a pain in the neck to get to go up flush against the area it is supposed to. which resulted in water spurting everywhere. however once I got that in it worked fine.

no leaks or antything of the sort

This is the only thing GE now makes for my old o/r system. It was cheaper than home depot, but the description didn't say I would need a new valve (only 4$) to modify it so it would fit. Not the biggest deal and once it was installed worked like a charm.

After years of buying those expensive GE filter cartridges $35 to $50, that the manufacturer hooks you into purchasing when they sell you their refrigerator, I put the blank plug that comes with the refrigerator in and installed this easy to install filter on the supply line in the rear of the refrigerator. Works great, and saves lots of money. I will definitely purchase more of these in the future. When initially installed the first gallon of water comes out black from the charcoal but once its flushed, it is a great filtration system.

Whirlpool Part Number 2197381: Evaporator Fan Motor

Whirlpool Part Number 2197381: Evaporator Fan Motor
  • REPAIR PART NUMBER 2197381
  • REPAIR PART FOR WHIRLPOOL, AMANA, MAYTAG, KENMORE AND MORE
  • PART MEETS ALL OEM QUALITY STANDARDS MANUFACTURED BY A THIRD PARTY

I have a cheap second refrigerator in my garage; it's branded "Costco by Whirlpool" and built in 1999 in Mexico.

Recently the refrigerator compartment wasn't cooling... spoiled milk was the first clue. This was in spite of the fact that the freezer compartment was fine.

I knew that if the compressor was bad it probably wouldn't be worth repairing this old fridge BUT it probably was OK since the freezer was working. Given the age of the refrigerator I was reluctant to call out a repairman when the meter is at $75-100 when they first show up. So I Googled "Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling" to see if I could get any hint as to whether or not it was liable to be a big problem.

MUCH to my surprise I found a lot of really useful information including several very helpful UTube tutorials. These videos provided trouble-shooting tips and detailed disassembly instructions.... once I opened up the freezer compartment (not at all difficult) it was clear from the hidden ice buildup that the defrost cycle wasn't working and that the ice was blocking cold air from the refrigerator compartment.

Several of these videos pointed to the automatic defrost system as the likely culprit and specifically to the bi-metal defrost thermostat. This thermostat is a simple on-off switch designed to keep the defrost heater from getting too warm and defrosting the food in the freezer compartment. One video even showed a test procedure to verify whether the defrost thermostat was faulty (involves a multi-meter and a glass of ice water, but a AA battery and a flashlight bulb would have worked). Sure enough it looked bad (and failed the test) so I went to the local supply houses to find one. They had generics in stock but those lack the clip-on feature. The delay for the clip-on part was four days and the cost was $35.... I could have gotten it just as fast and much cheaper through Amazon Whirlpool 2321799 Defrost Bimetal for Refrigerator. The only "skill" required to install the thermostat was stripping the wires and applying wire nuts and electricians' tape (see UTube if you want detailed how-to help with that).

While I was in there I noticed the fan motor was wobbly and somewhat sticky and thus seemed likely to fail soon. The fan motor is $65 from my local suppliers so I ordered this guy from Amazon. It was easy to install with my newly-found expertise at removing the freezer parts and fit perfectly... probably a 15-minute chore to replace. It works without wobbling and is very quiet and smooth turning. Everything good except my worrying.

Why worrying? The vendor delivered the part to UPS within 24 hours of my order but the UPS tracking system said it was going to take 16 DAYS to get here.... from CA to WA!! I kept checking and the UPS system kept reporting 16 days. It actually showed up in 5 days (three working days, which is normal UPS Ground from California), so it was all about faulty UPS reporting not any actual service problem. But if you were waiting for it to repair your main refrigerator it sure could cause some stress.
