Amana Defrost Thermostat 10442411

Amana Defrost Thermostat 10442411I bought this unit to replace the one on my Amana Model SRD21VW-P1315501WW. The refridgerator called out for a Defrost Thermostat R0161088 which is the same sensor unit with a large harness and several connectors which cost $34 and required running wires through the back wall of the freezer compartment.

My freezer kept getting stuck in a defrost cycle (ice cubes melt and then freezing back into a big chunk). To test, I cut the old one out of the existing harness, leaving about 4" inches on the thermostat. I then put the T-Stat in ice water to check for continuity and removed it to if it opened at around 40-50 degrees. The thermostat failed so I ordered this one as a replacement. Crimped on male and female connectors to the harness and the new thermostat and voila! My refridgerator was back in business.

This replaced the original amana defrost thermostat, 1/3 of the price sears wanted, it was very easy the replacedplug and play

Vinotemp VT-BEER 5-Liter CO2-Powered Tabletop Beer Dispenser, Silver and Black

Vinotemp VT-BEER 5-Liter CO2-Powered Tabletop Beer Dispenser, Silver and Black
  • Co2-powered tabletop beer dispenser for perfectly poured beer
  • Holds standard-size mini kegs up to 5 liters; digital temperature controls
  • Ultra-quiet, energy-efficient thermo-electric technology
  • Removable spill tray for easy cleanup; 3 Co2 cartridges included
  • Measures 21 by 10-1/2 by 17-1/4 inches; 1-year limited warranty

I have had this dispenser for six months, and it does dispense beer as advertised. The problem is, the CO2 system desperately needs improvement. I have been through two regulators and three sets of regulator adaptor/cartridge holder pairs, because they are made of cheap plastic and crack over time. I have lost two kegs of beer and have wasted six CO2 cartidges needlessly. I did speak with their technical staff and told them I would have made these parts using brass, bronze, or stainless steel, and if they wanted to stay with plastic, at least use a thermopolymer that could take the stress off a pressurized environment. They seemed to listen; time will tell. So, bottom line: It does work, it work well when it's working....but be prepared to call their customer service department along the way for replacement parts.

Wasted two keg of Heineken, only foam coming out.

Side cover hold by two tiny plastic clamps(one broke right off).

  • Reversible door with slide out wire shelf for storage versatility
  • Estimated yearly operating cost: $28 based on 10.65 cent per kwh 2007
  • Transparent begetable storage drawer with glass shelf

I've had this fridge for about two weeks now and it's been really great. I bought it for my office and mostly to prevent me from eating out, so I had a few criteria. First, it had to be fairly small footprint, but large enough to store a good amount of real food, such as leftovers, some fruit & veg, and materials to make snacks with such as PB&J. Second, it had to have a real compressor, one that will cool well below the ambient temperature as the office building gets quite warm in the summer and I really hate when food goes bad. Third, I didn't want the unit to give up a bunch of space to a can delivery system, since I don't drink usually have canned drinks around. So, that's how I ended up at the SPT, it's the only one I found that fits all these criteria. I'd never heard of SPT before buying this fridge and quite honestly, if it had the same features as all the other fridges I'd seen (researched for two weeks), I probably wouldn't have bought it. However, given that it had everything I was looking for, I decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did.

First, the aesthetics; it's a vertical rectangular shape, modestly attractive looking, basically it looks like a small black fridge with a stainless door. I was a bit surprised at the size, it's quite a bit taller than I was expecting and the black does makes it look a little monolithic. The unit actually looks bigger than it really is, I was shocked to find that it fits nicely under my desk. The Stainless Steel finish on the door isn't quite as polished as the vastly more expensive full-size GE fridge I've got at home, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked, especially considering the price! This unit is solidly built and is surprisingly lightweight, which was great for moving it around the first day, figuring out where it should go. The door, as shipped, opens on the left, but it looked like a fairly simple job to switch sides (haven't needed to) and SPT included extra plastic inserts for covering up the holes should this be required, a nice touch. Door was protected with plastic film and all three shelves and the ice maker were taped down to prevent them sliding around.

On to functionality; the fridge works! It got the four iced teas I put in it ice cold within only a few hours of being plugged in and I've got the unit set at 4, the factory preset median setting and it works great. Stuff down low in the fridge was kept nicely cold, the ham I put up near the icemaker had frost in the package, but the meat wasn't frozen. Note to self, meat goes lower in the fridge. The lower door shelf holds four Honest Tea bottles, but the wire holder swings out to hold bigger items. The top door shelf is a little shorter and has a fixed bar, so PB & J go up there. Inside shelves are made of white plastic-coated wire and well spaced. The freezer holds at least a trio of standard sized juice boxes; it's wide, but not very tall, so low items work best. One other extremely cool thing is, the energy consumption rating for this fridge is actually below the lowest range on the chart. This makes it extremely efficient, which isn't a factor for me, but I can see this being a plus for someone being challenged about its power consumption. Given how well it keeps my food cold, it must be very well insulated to achieve such low consumption.

Things of note:

1) This unit only has one leveling foot, at the front right corner. This is probably not a problem for most people, but my office floor is as flat as a Ruffles potato chip, so levelling the fridge required shims under the front left foot.

2) Power cord is only about 5Ft long, once again, not a problem in most offices, but I would really have liked a longer one. Extension cord to the rescue.

3) Unit isn't silent, but it's not loud either. Some people have complained about other fridges being loud, I don't find this one to be unpleasant, it's like low-level white noise in the background. If I get in early, I can hear the fridge, but once the office wakes up, it's inaudible.

4) Unit came very well packed in an enormous box, strapped and taped closed. I was impressed, but I did have to lie the fridge on its side to get it out of the box.

5) This hasn't been a problem, but the manual says that should the fridge lose power, it won't come back on automatically.

This turned out to be the perfect refrigerator and I'll try to answer some questions about posted concerns.

Noise when you first turn on the fridge and perhaps the first 24 hours, the refrigerator will cycle quite a bit and the compressor will make interesting noises. not bad, just different. once the refrigerator has had it's break in period, the compressor only turns on every 30 minutes or so for a very short time I don't notice it anymore and the compressor is not loud at all.

How soon after the item is turned on that you can place things inside within two hours the refrigerator will be cold however, placing warm items in there will require additional times for the refrigerator's temperature to level out it's been that way ever since they have been making refrigerators.

The stainless on the door is beautiful and we are delighted that we spent the extra money it looks great in our office see video.

Finally, it's by far the best unit for the money and we have no complaints.

The video will provide an idea about how much can be stored inside we have removed one of the shelves to leave more room for bottles and cans.

I bought this fridge a couple weeks ago and it looks nice in person, came very nicely packaged with no effort needed to put it together. The inside smelled a bit at first of plastic but I left the door open for a couple days and the smell went away. After I plugged it in, it got very cold after just a couple hours and keeps cold well. My biggest complaint is the noise. For the most part, it's quiet in the maintenance mode but when it is turning on to cool itself, it makes loud clanking sounds that I can hear from my second floor and I have the unit on the first floor. I researched other fridges and seems like noise is always an issue so I guess this is a decent fridge if you can put up with the noise.

Bought the first one but was DOA. Amazon quickly sent out another one before we shipped the defective one back (Great service Amazon!!!). Unfortunately, the compressor in this unit is very noisy (it is for a wet bar in our AV room). We have placed Styrofoam on the floor and placed this atop the Styrofoam. The noise lessened considerably but still quite present. I may try to find a way of mounting the compressor on some rubber standoffs if I cannot find a better solution.

I bought this to put under my desk at the office. It fits perfectly and cannot be seen by others. What I love the most is what I don't have... noise. Unlike my last minifridge the unit operates very quietly and keeps items appropriately cool. I was surprised to find that the freezer compartment actually keeps items frozen.

WF286 Aqua Fresh Refrigerator Water Filter

WF286 Aqua Fresh Refrigerator Water FilterWhile still in the "flushing the filter" stage, the water coming out of the dispenser was black. That eventually stopped and the water coming out was clear again. However, the water continued to have black and white "floaters" (possibly filaments of some kind?) even several gallons later. I even ran the dispenser without the filter for a few minutes to see if it was something in my water. The water was clear without the filter. When I reinstalled the filter, the floaters once again appeared in the water-even after flushing several more gallons through the filter.

I removed the filter and threw it away. I'm now running the dispenser without a filter.

No fault of the seller-just my bad luck to get a faulty item.

Koolatron WC08 Thermoelectric 8-Bottle Countertop Wine Cellar

Koolatron WC08 Thermoelectric 8-Bottle Countertop Wine Cellar
  • Freestanding countertop wine cellar chills up to 8 bottles of wine
  • Thermoelectric system for vibration- and noise-free cooling
  • Digital control panel with LCD display; adjustable temperature
  • Glass door; interior light; removable shelves; adjustable feet for leveling
  • Measures 10-1/5 by 19-2/3 by 19-1/2 inches

It appears that Koolatron did not measure current wine bottles: Forget about putting Sylvaner, Gewuerztraminer, Pinot Gris, Rieslings from France into it (bottles are too long); forget about Alban's (CA) Viognier etc. (bottle has too large a diameter); forget about some Loire Valley whites (again diameter). That's all I've tried before giving up.

This is a great size and runs quiet. It keeps the wine at perfect temperature. The inside light is not very bright and makes it hard to read the wine bottles so I have to turn on another light.

It should come with more settings to give more choices as how cold you want your wine. Some people like their wine colder than others. Than why bother with a wine cooler.

My Koolatron WC08 is only about 2 years old. When new, it performed just fine. If I set it to say 50F, it would stay within one degree of that setting. Later I noticed it couldn't keep up in the summer when the house might get up to 80F inside. Now it can't maintain proper temp at all....It always runs at least five degrees warmer than the setting. This unit is not durable.

After about one year the unit simply stopped cooling. We could hear a fan but no cooling. Since the warranty is only 90 days, we now have a piece of useless junk where we can store bottles at room temperature. Cannot recommend because of poor reliability.

Water Sentinel WSS-2 Refrigerator Replacement Filter

Water Sentinel WSS-2 Refrigerator Replacement FilterIn the 11 months we've owned our Samsung RF4287HARS 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door Refrigerator Stainless Steel I've now had the opportunity to replace several water filters. The first time around I choose the Samsung DA29-00020B which back in April ran almost $33 and as of today is running at $35. The Samsung replacement filter is pretty much a no-brainer as it is designed and manufactured by Samsung so there was no doubt of it's reliability and quality.

This time around I decided to take a chance on an aftermarket replacement filter manufactured by Water Sentinel which I purchased last month for $21.89 and today is selling for $22.38. Obviously >56% is a significant savings compared with the Samsung filter.

After removing the Water Sentinel WSS-2 filter from the box the first thing I noticed is it's size. It is definitely thinner (smaller diameter) than the Samsung (see my detailed pics above), however overall length is about the same. The connection port or fitting has the same physical design and O-ring appears the same as Samsung's too.

The smaller diameter body may be a manufacturing/marketing cost reduction strategy rather than product inferiority. By making a smaller housing this one unit may fit multiple refrigerator models which helps reduce costs that Water Sentinel chooses to pass onto their customers. Or, they deliberately make their filters smaller knowing it will trigger refrigerators to signal owners and replace filters more frequently. Since it's only a theory and haven't owned it long enough I'm unable to say with any certainty. The closest analogy is gasohol, you pay less for the product but buy more frequently due to reduced energy content (lower mpg).

The installation process for these filters is similar so I will skip this part and mention only relevant differences. While I didn't do a timed water flow comparison, flow rate through the door appears slightly faster with Water Sentinel WSS-2 filter compared with the Samsung. If water flowing through filtering media is faster, it may mean there is less filter media inside the cartridge. Or it might indicate the old Samsung filter may be saturated with dissolved solids and is no longer effectively filtering. Since our refrigerator is connected to a reverse osmosis system it's hard to believe the old filter has become unusable. At this point I'll call it a draw and give Water Sentinel the benefit of the doubt.

It's important to keep in mind these filters do not typically filter to ultra-fine levels. In fact, all refrigerator filters primarily contain compressed carbon which is designed "to remove and/or reduce impurities and sediment that may be present in your drinking water." The carbon filters absorb certain elements and allow others to pass through. It also has the ability to "chemically breakdown" some impurities but not to a very high degree.

So what does all this mean? If you are looking to filter out bad taste; chlorine and slight odors from your drinking water and ice cubes these should all work fine. But if your concern for water safety justifiably greater you need to look at a reverse osmosis system which not only reduces chlorine taste and odor but arsenic, lead, perchlorate, cysts, cryptosporidium, giardia, entamoeba and others. From my own personal experience owning an RO system for almost 20 years you would be amazed how visibly contaminated (brown) the filters including these Purenex 1M-4PK 1-Micron Sediment Water Filter Cartridge, 4-Pack become after only 6 months from a certified city municipal water supply. And that's from contaminants that are visible. But we'll leave that for another review...

Today many appliances, devices and products are sold at or near cost, think printers (toner & ink cartridges); razors (blades); even Amazon's Kindles (books, movies & products) in order to sell consumables. While refrigerators are definitely not inexpensive the same business model applies to water filters. The cost to manufacture these cartridges are really not high, but the profit potential is. So it's wise to understand where and how filter cost reduction (by manufacturers) may adversely affect you. For example, some non-OEM ink jet cartridges can detrimentally effect your printer if they leak by ruining the printer and voiding the warranty. To their credit Water Sentinel does provide an "unconditional 90 day money back guarantee" and is good for 6 months or 300 gallons.

While there is always the remote possibility a defective filter could leak and damage your refrigerator, I believe the probability is very low. What most of us are looking for is quality, reliability and value.

I wish I could say unequivocally the Water Sentinel WSS-2 is a vastly superior filter to the Samsung, it's not. That said, for the Water Sentinel WSS-2 to be a better filter, it need only perform equal to the Samsung and with an appreciable cost advantage... based on that criteria I believe it is a good filter.

BTW, I've read a number of reviews where ppl have complained about noises after replacing their filters. Naturally I can't say with certainty but one possible problem may be air in the line. After installing any new filter it's important to purge all air from the line. Simply run a few large glasses of water through the door's water dispenser until the flow is smooth (no air bubbles). It's also helpful in eliminating any course particles or carbon dust trapped inside during manufacture, for most this will take care of any noises...

works on ssmsung 0002b despite what other review says. much cheaper then Samsung branded filter and works just as good if not better. no reason to pay 36 or more for samsung. I got this filter quick shipping was fast. installed quick just like original. water goes through this thing fast! barely any slow down. tastes just as great as Samsung filter. tbere is no difference except price. I don't know why someone says it doesn't fit as it fits perfect. don't hesitate to buy save your money over the expensive Samsung filters

Buy Water Sentinel WSS-2 Refrigerator Replacement Filter Now

I purchased this Made in the USA filter for my nice new expensive Samsung fridge as the filter that came with it made the decent tasting tap water taste like plastic no matter how many gallons I ran through it. Enter this filter. I followed instructions. It fits where the old filter fit. However, the seal (or lack thereof) is absolute rubbish. Turned water back on and water gushed out all over the floor. Got mess cleaned up with a couple rolls of paper towels and pulled filter and examined the ring. It was loose, evidently providing for something other than a watertight seal. I looked at the old Samsung filterit was nice and snug, as such a ring should be... in order to create a water-tight seal. I just want a filter that fits and doesn't make my water taste like plastic or pour water everywhere out of a fridge that was over a thousand dollars! Is that too much to ask? Evidently so!

I hope they honor their 90 day unconditional money back guarantee. I will follow up.

Follow-up. 18 Oct 2012 The company that makes these wrote me back and said unfortunately it's a new product and a shipment of the filters went out before the problem was corrected. They are sending a new filter to me today. I added a star for their fast and responsive customer service. After the new filter gets here and installed, I'll update the review again. Hopefully they recall the filters from the distributors before anyone else winds up soaked. (if you'll pardon the pun).

Follow-up 30 Oct 2012 I forgot I had an additional filter on order with Amazon (as they were out of stock when I initially ordered from another seller). I figured when it shipped, I'd have a back-up. It arrived before the replacement and it too had a loose o-ring. I was hesitant to install it given that fact, so wrote the company. They were surprised to hear I got not 1, but 2 messed up filters. At that point I was ready to give upbut true to their word, the new filter arrived, and they sent me a spare o-ring. I haven't opened the new one yet, as I popped a snug o-ring on the filter. The water is great, and doesn't taste like plastic.

Because of the great customer service, the refreshing non-plastic flavored water, some faith in humanity has been restored, and thus they are getting a full 5 stars. Granted, they should have caught this before they shipped, and recalled them so no more faulty products went out, but we're only human, and they worked hard to fix the problemand now that it's right, I want them, a US business, to stick around selling more affordable and higher quality filters! I do not ever want to go back to a foreign plastic-tasting-water filter.

Electrolux E23CS78HP 36" Counter-Depth Refrigerator with PureAdvantage Filtration Systems and Theat

Electrolux E23CS78HP 36' Counter-Depth Refrigerator with PureAdvantage Filtration Systems and Theatre, Stainless SteelIn 2009 I remodeled my kitchen. I purchased all Electrolux appliances (full sized refrigerator, beverage refrigerator, dishwasher, dual fuel range and microwave). Thankfully I purchased a 5 year warranty for all appliances but the beverage refrigerator. Two and 1/2 years later... I have had to have my water/ice dispenser repaired, my dishwasher motor replaced, the control panel on the range fixed and now the control panel on the beverage refrigerator is not working.

I purchased Electrolux appliances b/c I was hoping to have reliable appliances for the next decade or so. I purchased the warranty b/c I thought occasionally there can be a problem with an appliance and I did't want to have to worry about it. I did not expect that all the appliances would be broken in some way or other in less than 3 years. I have taken mulitple days off from work in order for the repairs to be made. I have not even called to schedule a repair for the beverage refrigerator because I am too upset with Electrolux as it is to pay $500 for the repair.

I would not recommend Electrolux appliances and I would not purchase these appliances again. Very disappointing! The set looks so nice, I was so excited to have a special kitchen but now I wish I had bought something less expensive/less flashy but more reliable.
