I know the kitchen is the most probable place for this unit but I had a better idea. I wanted to be able to have a freezer that was unique for my media room upstairs. I have a 1 and 1/2 story home and the media room plus a bathroom is the only room upstairs. in the bathroom was a door to the attic where I have a 28 can soda and beverage freezer, but what if someone was actually using the bathroom when people wanted something to drink? I'd have to go downstairs into the kitchen, which is not something you want to do in the middle of a nice movie or something. So I installed this unit on one of my walls and it's just great! Aside from the fact that you can store 6 bottles of wine, I also have (from time to time) placed 12 bottles (2 on each shelf) of beer or 12 cans of beer instead! Love this thing and yes it sticks out about 8 inches from the wall but you don't even think about that when it comes to it's effectiveness because even with only 8 inches from the wall the unit seems like it's a part of the wall! Awesome and I'm glad I found it. Here on Amazon.com it costs way less than elsewhere, I'm loving this thing!

We've had this refrigerator for 18 months and our ice/water dispenser are doing the exact same thing as the previous reviewer described. Flapping, flashing lights, buttons don't work...piece of junk!

I like the general design and features of the Ice2O, but after owning one for a little more than a year I would not recommend it to anyone.

The ice dispenser flap started opening and closing in the middle of the night. It woke the whole family up and then we saw that the lights on the front were flashing and none of the buttons would do anything. Now, I understand that stuff happens and things can fail under normal use but we had taken very good care of this appliance and this was clearly a design flaw. I searched online and found that many, many people were having the exact same trouble. When I contacted Maytag and explained the situation they responded (several days later) with an email stating "Based on the information given, it appears your appliance requires service" (Really?), and then "We regret that due to the age of the product, we will be unable to assist with the cost of the repair." The AGE? It's barely over a year old! It was built with defective parts! I was also upset that they responded by email. On their online form they make a point to ask how you would like to be responded to email or telephone. I asked for a phone call.

When I emailed back regarding my disappointment they replied back (again, several days later) with "You are a valued Maytag customer and we appreciate your support of the Maytag brand. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist you today." Of course the response was by email after I had again specifically requested a phone call in my response. WTF?

In addition to the Ice2O I also own their top of the line washer and dryer and have purchased several Maytag appliances for rental properties. Not anymore.

Before buying, do a quick search online and you'll find that it's quite common for this same thing to happen. It will happen to you too. Don't purchase this refrigerator, or any Maytag appliance for that matter.

I purchased this refrigerator back in October of 2006 when we remodeled our kitchen. The counter depth works great for us, look awesome too. We have only had one minor issue which was the ice maker would not dispense ice roughly a year after purchasing it. The tech walked in and knew exactly what to adjust. The little flap that pushes the ice out of the forming tray into the ice bin had some play in it and it was getting caught on the ice form. Quick adjustment, all fixed. Since then, no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this refrigerator.

Do keep in mind that this is a counter depth model. It is smaller inside, and the ice maker does not hold much ice. We always have plenty of ice for our family of four but if we are going to have a party we definitely have to buy more.

I puchased the Maytag Ice2O counter depth a little over a year ago because I had just remodeled my kitchen and needed something not so deep to fit in the spot I had planned for it. It is a very nice fridge and have not had any problems with it so far. The only thing I don't like about it is that the ice maker in the door will make enough ice for 2 1/2 glasses full and that's it. No more ice! Also, if you need a fridge with lots of room, this is not the one to get since it is very limited in what you can put in there. I knew that by getting the counter depth that I would be loosing space but the design could have been better to accomodate more shelving instead of the large bin at the bottom of the fridge that is a hassle to get into quickly.

We bought ours from a local dealer. Shortly after delivery it began making loud knocking noises. Turns out the ice maker had a design flaw and stopped making ice. The repairmen came out seven times over 11 months, but even after talking to Electrolux technical support the problem persisted. The culprit was a faulty computer program. The manufacturer didn't get it right the first time, so they were now on the 6th revision. Meanwhile the incessant rattling could be heard throughout the house even when the icemaker was turned off.

Be aware that the manufacturer warranty only covers parts and labor, but if it's beyond repair ----you'll be offered a replacement. Question: If the replacement is no better than the one before, what's the point? Best to ask about the store's refund policy up front. In our experience, Electrolux suffers from poor quality control, and releases refrigerators into the marketplace with serious design flaws. Corporations ought to take responsibility for their mistakes and not pass the risk on to small businesses. We are grateful our local dealer gave us a refund.

Stay away from this brand. The first 2 I received did not work, The third one did but things are starting to break. Customer Service is a night mare. I have been trying to get a part under warranty for over a month now and keep on getting the run around. Oh and did I mention this dishwasher is under a year old. My advice is stay away from this brand. My next dishwasher will be a Sears Kenmore as I had in the past. They run for a good 10 years and never had any major problems with them. This is just my experience with this brand and I will never buy this product again.

SquareTrade 4-Year Appliance Protection Plan ($1500-2000)

After viewing a stainless steel fridge in the $1600 range, I had to stop and write a review for Square Trade after seeing the warranty's lack of ratings. I initially found Square Trade on ebay when purchasing used electronics, Square Trade offers warranties on used items purchased on that site. The warranties sounded too good to be true so I spent some time and did some research, after which I realized that I had been wasting my money purchasing warranties at Best Buy and other retailers. Square Trade offers the same or better serviced warranties for a fraction of the cost of box stores and the company has been rated across the board as excellent, recently winning a 2011 customer service award. I am now a Square Trade customer for everything that I need a warranty for and I list it in my ad if I am selling used electronics (I sold my kids Wii and all games and accessories listing Square Trade as a warranty provider).

Items in my home that are currently under warranty with Square Trade; Breville Juice and Blend, 2 flat screens, 1 laptop, Kitchenaid stand mixer, 3 Kindle Fires and a bunch of smaller ticket items. I have had one occasion to contact Square Trade for an item under warranty and received excellent customer service throughout speaking with a real person without having to hang around on hold for an hour or more. My experience with Square Trade is that the company is over accommodating to achieve customer satisfaction (one time I called for a warranty quote and had a code for a discount not realizing that it had expired a few days before, Square Trade allowed me to receive the discount on my warranty purchase).

I recommend Square Trade to family, friends and acquaintances all the time. I believe in the service/company and based on my experience know that if I did have a problem that it would be resolved to my satisfaction. Square Trade is slowly becoming the standard in warranty providers with even Costco now offering Square Trade extended warranties for their tvs.

WF286 Aqua Fresh Refrigerator Water Filter

While still in the "flushing the filter" stage, the water coming out of the dispenser was black. That eventually stopped and the water coming out was clear again. However, the water continued to have black and white "floaters" (possibly filaments of some kind?) even several gallons later. I even ran the dispenser without the filter for a few minutes to see if it was something in my water. The water was clear without the filter. When I reinstalled the filter, the floaters once again appeared in the water-even after flushing several more gallons through the filter.

I removed the filter and threw it away. I'm now running the dispenser without a filter.

No fault of the seller-just my bad luck to get a faulty item.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

This model does not feature UV protection on the glass door so it's useless for storing wine long term except in a garage or basement. If you plan on installing in your kitchen, get something else with UV protection. Haier has a higher end model that does feature UV glass. Too bad because I think it's very stylish and understated and actually nicer looking than the higher end model.

The main thing to remember here is that you need to either situate this in a dark place (a basement would be better than a garage since your electric bill will be less) or you need to plan on using it only for short-term wine storage -very important fact to remember in deciding on models to purchase.

This is a great wine cooler. I purchased this unit about four months ago and have loved it ever since. Living in the northeast where the weather changes from cool to hot it was not very appealing to keep wine at home for more than a period of ~2 months. This unit allows me to store wine with the confidence that they won't be adversely afffected by the changing temperatures or extreme heat. Besides the functional aspects the unit is also well designed and not an eyesore. It melds into a room and is almost always a topic of discussion. The only complaint that I would have about the unit is that does make some noise, but no more than any small refrigerator would.

In spite of previous reviewer who obviously can't fit the bottles in right, I managed to store 47 (yes, 47) standard 750ml bottles. All you have to do is alternate the direction the necks point on the bottom two shelves, holding 4 each. I fit 9 on the top shelf alone, but it has to be the right bottle shape. The other five shelves will hold 6 bottles each 5 in a row, plus a sixth at a right angle so you can see the label thru the door. It's a snug fit, but it can work...

I use this to store red wines, and it does a great job for my needs. I have a small apartment, and this unit's size was perfect. It keeps the wines at the proper temp, and yes there's a faint bit of gurgling noise when the compressor is operating, but no more noticeable that your household fridge.

For the money, this is really a great deal, esp. with the 5-year warranty. ...

I ordered this from Amazon as a gift. It arrived FedEx 3 business days after I placed my order, in great condition. The box was a little mangled but there were no problems with breakage or malfunctioning once I plugged it in.

The temperature controls are easy to set, and although the temp does range approx 5 degrees between cycles of turning on/off, a variance this small will not affect how wine ages. Overall, a very good gift for someone who loves to store wine.

I new this product was a great item. My best friend bought one about 2 years ago and has been so pleased. I was anxious to buy one for my husbands birthday. I shopped around and the prices for other Wine Cellers was outragious. They were not as attractive. The only noise you hear is a slight murmur when the celler turns on. I really think it is great. I hope to get many years of enjoyment from it.

Samsung DA29-00020B Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack

Late last year I bought a fancy Samsung refrigerator the model RF4289HARS. It is the one with the 4 doors (actually two French doors on top, a middle drawer, and a bottom freezer drawer. It has the water and ice dispenser on the left French door just under the snazzy blue led lighted touch control panel. Anyway, the change filter light came on and so I removed the filter (it is really easy, just unscrew it a half turn and it comes right out) so I could see what the replacement part number on it said. It was DA-29-00020A. After looking around the internet, and looking on the Samsung website I found that there is no such part number the closest thing I found was almost the same number only ending with B instead of A. I called Samsung and after getting bounced to 3 different customer service people who had no idea whether part DA-29-00020A was the correct replacement for part DA-29-00020B and one customer service person who did not know that the filters are supposed to be changed after a while, I found a person who was able to tell me that DA-29-00020B is in fact the correct replacement filter for refrigerator model RF4289HARS. I bought two of these filters one to install now and one for a spare. I put one in (it takes about 5 seconds to insert it and give it a half twist to the right to install it, and then I followed the instructions of running about a gallon of water through it. You really do need to run this amount of water through it so get all of the air out of it so you get a smooth stream of filered water coming out. I then reset the change filter light you have to do this manually but all it takes is pressing and holding for 5 seconds (not the 3 seconds they tell you) the child lock/filter reset spot on the bottom left corner of the touch control screen just above the water/ice dispenser. It works great now tasty filtered water and flavorless crushed ice from my fancy refrigerator any time I want it.

I was a little worried about ordering the right filter for our fridge. But I called Samsung, as my filter was previously a 20A and this is a 20B. She explained, they are the same thing just a different batch. Soooo, thankfully it works! We love having the filtered water as where we live, there's a really bad sulfur problem!

I have a subzero refrigerator with the ice maker but no water dispenser. I didn't want to buy a generic filter. I tried to order it from the subzero website, but there was a problem with the site. Subzero suggested I contact a supplier whose number they gave me. Instead I went to my "go to" seller, Amazon. Sure enough, the had the filter and it was delivered free and very quickly. We were delighted with Amazon.

Installation was a breeze. I might add that the subzero literature notes how long the filter should last. I found it did not last quite as long as stated.

The additional cost to make it fit was another $128 which they refused to pay! the warranty on this new compressor is only one year now! not the remainder of 5! Wow ! will not buy another Master Build.

The description does not tell you that you still have to add water to unit in addition to the gel packs. I chilled my chardonnay for seven minutes and it was still warm. I had to chill it for 20 minutes to get it cold enough to drink. Gel packs don't allow you to chill several bottles without having to refreeze them or add ice to the machine.

The product works ok, but then we don't like our Chardonnay super cold either. I'm not so sure that an ice bucket filled with ice and water wouldn't do the same thing in just slightly more time. (You might want to try that before buying this chiller.) My primary reason for writing this review is to say that after about 3-4 months of intermittent use, the chill cells are oozing out freezer gel. They say it's "food safe", but nonetheless, that shouldn't happen. I'll contact Brevelle & hopefully, they'll make it right.

I tried to chill my white wine in seven minutes and it was still warm. They say chill, but what does that really mean? They should say what temperature it chills to in 7 minutes. I guess that is why they have a 15 minute timer. Also the description does not state that you have to add water so it is just as messy as an ice bucket and as much work.

I bought this on a whim, as a gift. It's certainly not all it claims to be; neither is it a total failure. Ten minutes gives you reasonably cool wine.

In my book, three stars is a typical, average product. This gizmo loses a point for being $50 instead of $15.

I received this item as a gift last christmas. We loved it. We are avid wine drinkers and collectors, mostly reds though, so I did not have alot of space in my wine fridge for whites (and the temp is set for my reds). This was a great gift for us, I find it gets VERY cold VERY fast. It even puts a little more chill on my wine than suits my palate, however, my husband does like his colder than I do, so I pour first and replace to chill a little longer for him. I too am very shocked at the low stars for this product. I am trying to find more to give as gifts this year.
