The shelf if fine but the need to replace it and the high cost was the problem. I assume that I will need to replace it in a few years too. The quality of Whirlpool (and all the other brands) has suffered so much in the last few years. The old products we replaced (refrigerator, dish washer, range, microwave etc.) were so much better the new products that replaced them.

My shelf in my fridge broke due to too much weight. This replacement came and works great as if it where the original. I just wish it was not so expensive just for a glass shelf. There is really not much to dislike about this product since it works, its great.

I ordered this shelf to replace the one in my refrigerator that was broken. It was more expensive than I thought it would be but was the only one I could find. When the shelf came a few days later to my dismay it was not an exact fit. The drawer that is supposed to attach to this shelf will not attach as the shelf is a tad bit too small. It looks exactly the same as the one that was broken but is maybe half an inch smaller.

I purchased this extra shelf for my refrigerator-freezer in order to expand its capacity for party cooking. It arrived promptly and was an exact fit. You cannot tell it from the shelves that came with the unit. If I find that I need temporarily to store an extra-tall item, I can remove it.

I have been wanting a fridge with the pull out freezer. We have had this for just over a month now and are VERY happy with it. A lot of storage in the refridgerator area. We have a deep freezer so the smaller freezer on this doesn't affect us. All you hear with this is the ice maker dropping ice and filling back up. Don't be "tricked" into buying the AC adaptor since it shows you an upsell message saying the two items are purchased together the item comes with one. Regarding the item itself: Keep in mind this is a novelty item. It's not meant to be a fancy vending machine. There is also a pretty annoying design flaw. The way this thing dispenses is by dropping sodas from the various shelves where the corresponding buttons are. Sodas in the higher shelves have a higher drop and thus get shaken up a bit which isn't fun when opening up the can for consumption.

I use this to keep soda cool in an already air conditioned office and it does a fine job of keeping it quite chilled. I start the soda in our fridge and then out ti in this but it gets colder in this then it is in the fridge.

Yes it drops the soda to dispense but I havent had any shaking problems even from the top level.

It didn't come with the Coke stickers but its trivial to find them on the net and print them to clear sticky-back plastic in a laser printer.

The only remaining question is durability... I'll let you know in a year :)

I may be influenced by our terrible 10-year old Amana side by side refrigerator which died before we bought this one, but this one is a pleasure by comparison. Our choices were limited by our shallow cabinet height -even so, the cabinets needed a bit of trimming and the hinge covers on the box removed before it fit. But once settled into its spot, we turned it on and after 6 months we couldn't be happier. What we like: 1) temperatures remain rock solid in both refrigerator and freezer (and there are digital readouts to monitor; 2) Ice cream stays firm; 3) French door design is a dream -easy access to every part of the refrigerator; 4) water dispenser works great, has filter with a need-change indicator; 5) Icemaker is fast; 6) quiet operation, hardly know it's there; 7) flexible shelving; 8) counter depth makes a nice blend with our cabinets; 9) rollers (with brakes) makes it easy to move out for cleaning behind. The one negative, which is endemic to this particular design, is that the bottom freezer is basically a tub with a pull-out shelf, making some buried items difficult to find. But we open and use the refrigerator far more often than the freeze, so the compromise is well worth it. So far, Bravo.

Since you're paying a lot for a little fridge like this, it ought to work right. Unfortunately that is not what happens with this model. My advice is to avoid it if you have a better option, or be sure to get an extended service contract. These can be purchased at any time.

Poor Design:

* The doors typically pop back open a little when you close them with a push, and the door alarm will not sound if this happens.

* The water dispenser is in a terrible location, as is the icemaker. They get in the way, and both are more trouble than they are worth.

* The plastic cover for the deli tray attaches to plastic pegs to crate a hinge. These pegs get stressed and break pretty easily, just from regular use. The deli cover will start popping loose and then the pegs break.

Known Water/Ice problems:

* Food in the back of the fridge routinely freezes even with the internal thermostat set at 38 degrees F. I've found other Kitchenaid fridge owners mentioning this problem online. One suggested solution is to not use the icemaker, but that hasn't worked for me. Items at the back of the fridge tend to freeze.

* Worse, after a year of use the drain system clogged and iced up, which requires significant effort or a professional to fix. The condenser is constantly removing humidity to a drain that terminates in a pan under the fridge where an evaporator (heater) is supposed to disperse it into the outside/room air. If the drain line clogs it will ice up, and then the newly draining water will pool in the bottom of the freezer. You may not notice this until there is a large sheet of ice at the bottom of the freezer and incoming drain water is going over the ice and out the freezer door onto your floor. This isn't all that obvious, so like me the first thing you might notice is your wood floor warping and sinking under one of the front feet of the fridge. To clear the drain everything has to be removed and the fridge shut down to de-ice. Then you can snake the drain line or flush it with air or water. If the icing resumes, you probably have a broken evaporator.

I had this icing problem just as our 1 year warranty was expiring. Fortunately it still covered us, and we bought additional 5 year coverage. I'm adjusting my rating up to 3 stars since the problem was not too severe, but finding out it's a common problem -and in the first year -seems to indicate an engineering fault.

Conclusion:

After a year and a half of ownership requiring service for repairs, I'm revising my rating up to 2 stars. Repairs took care of everything but the tendency for food in the back of the fridge to freeze, although a certified Kitchenaid repairman hoped that adjusting the doors and seal would help. It's possible the front door seals are simply inadequate or there is another problem causing the freezing inside the fridge at a 38 degree temperature setting. Either way, it and the other things mentioned above seem to be engineering faults that are common to this model. It is serviceable with luck and care, but I do not like or recommend it.

I suppose it's too much to expect that a cross-referenced part number would actually be an exact replacement on a 15-yr-old refrigerator. As it turned out, I had to drill new holes in the old sheet metal to mount the thing because its footprint was slightly different. Once that was done, it worked fine and fixed the problem. I was impressed with the excellent service from the vendor.

I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting my icemaker before I finally concluded that the water valve was the problem. I searched a lot before buying this unit. The size is great and it cools just fine. I love the glass shelves and the light which is very bright. Be aware, and it says this in the manual so it is not a fault, that the sides get up to 30 degrees higher than room temperature. My previous mini which I had only a few months did (no manual) and I was afraid to continue using it. Probably all minis do the same. I'm glad because I like this so much better. Great refrigerator. Runs quiet and very little frost build up in the freezer.

But the "lock" is rather silly. Instead of a key, it is a hex head nut that slides a bar from the door into the frame. It certainly wouldn't keep a six year old out, let alone a teenager looking for beer.

After removing old filter and putting this one in the water developed a horrible strong chemical taste. Tap water tasted better. Also noticed that during initial installation while I was running 1 gallon of water through it, per installation directions, no bubbles seeped out of the water line... almost as if this filter had already been drained of air prior to being used... or maybe had already been used? this was totally unlike all other filters i put into my frige which always drains the air out of them during initial installation when your running a gallon of water through them to clean them out. But then again this is filtered water like no other filter ever... one that actually adds chemical odors and horrible taste instead of removing them....$32 in the trash and this is my first amazon review ever... i am being a nice guy and warning the public.

still tastes like chlorine. All I know is the one before tasted better. Hopefully it is doing it's job. Gotta put up with it.

I too have an issue with this filter. First off it is not exactly the same end as the original kenmore 46-9010 that I am replacing. I thought though that since it is advertised many places as compatible it would work. It states you MUST soak the filter in water 15 min before using. I had never seen that on any filter but did it anyway. When inserting the filter and twisting it into place there was no sound of water or pressure opening the valve. I ran 2-3 gallons of water through it and I also had no air pockets. I removed the filter and it has no water in the filter. The water is not running through it. It is just bypassing it as though there is no filter in it. I put the old kenmore back in and the pressure and water sound went through it. I then tried another new SGF-W01 and it does as the first. I do not think these filters are filtering ANY water at all. The difference in the ends must be the problem. I guess it's like the old saying, you get what you pay for. I wasted $50 on two of these filters. I will be going and paying the higher price for a 46-9010 that really works.

The glass was just the right size. I was afraid since when I measured the crisper cover they were slightly different. However my gut said this was the right one since the description says approximately 24 x 16. The real measurements are 23.83 x 15.5. Really satisfied with it and my crisper cover looks like new as if nothing ever happened.

I use this in my office, and I couldn't be much happier with it. It was inexpensive, and it performs far above my expectations. It is very quiet and seems to be efficient (runs for a short time and shuts off for a long time). There is plenty of space inside much more usable space than a conventional dorm-style mini fridge for not much more money. The door has a convenient holder for cans of soda, and the shelves are easily adjustable.

We upgraded from a 1.7 cubic foot Haier fridge that was several years old and giving us temperature control issues, freezing everything over and building up so much ice that the door wouldn't close. I was ready to go "Office Space" on its a#$ and take it into a field somewhere and beat it into little pieces.

After a lot of shopping around, we finally decided on this Danby for the upgrade.

First let me say that we purchased from an appliance store, not from Amazon, so did not have any of the shipping issues that some people have had.

However, I wanted to contribute my positive review, as I think the product deserves a few more.

Compared to the 1.7 cu ft. fridge, this is utterly roomy and delightful. I was pleased with how much I could fit in here.

It's a functional mini fridge that is silent, except when the compressor kicks in (which is every 30 minutes or so, or after the door has been open for a few minutes) and only runs for a little while. The compressor creates a low-frequency hum that is noticeable but not at all loud or obnoxious. Some noise is to be expected from an appliance, unless you're in the super-high-end ($$$) market, and, in my opinion, this is relatively quiet.

The adjustable shelves inside are glass, not wire, and seem sturdy and well-made. Maybe could have used one extra shelf, but not a big deal. There is a nice spot in the door where you can fit a bottle of wine, a big tray underneath the freezer box for collecting water during defrosting, a temperature adjust knob (which we left at the factory setting and has been perfect so far), a nice freezer (not tall enough to fit a pint of ice cream, but works for us), and it comes with a little ice cube tray...

The #1 problem we were having with the last fridge the freezer has not been an issue with this one.

Ice cubes freeze up in a reasonable amount of time, and things on the refrigerator shelf DIRECTLY below the freezer box do not get frozen. Can I get an amen.

The one reason we ALMOST didn't buy this fridge was that a good chunk of the door space is taken up by a soda can storage system we don't drink soda and were annoyed that this was going to be wasted space. However, we've found ways to make use of it. Because they are compartments for separate soda cans and not one big long "chute" where they are stacked and dispensed, you can stick things in the slots like apples, oranges, even bottles of beer.

The black finish is handsome and clean, the door is reversible, there is one touch automatic defrost overall, it's about as classy as you're going to get for a mini fridge in this price range.

We are VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
