Whynter BWR-281DZ Dual Zone Built-In Wine Refrigerator, 28-Bottle

Whynter BWR-281DZ Dual Zone Built-In Wine Refrigerator, 28-BottleAs a previous Viking wine fridge owner, I've been spoiled. I wasn't expecting anything close given the fraction of the cost. I was duly pleased by what I got in this dual zone wine fridge.

The wine fridge shipped via freight which was a nice surprise. I would not have enjoyed receiving this delivery if had to get beat up by UPS package delivery. Scheduling the delivery ahead of time was also way more convenient than getting that annoying door tag when you miss the delivery. So it was off to a good start.

Packaging was plain but sturdy enough for the item. Handle bar had to be installed and was easy enough. Nice handle bar actually. Easy to grip with no sharp corners. The shelving is very very nice. It's wood trimmed metal shelving, which actually gives it more space in the interior. The shelves are fully removeable and I'm actually no using the bottom most shelf. I store my larger bottle on the bottom. Storage0wise it fits 28 750ml bottles with no problems. I'm actually surprised I a 15" dual zone unit could fit that many bottles. If you want to put larger bottles, just remove the bottom most shelf on either

The actual installation was easy enough and I actually had this put into my library/bar room. Fits well and appears to be ADA compliant with the height, not something I was specifically looking for but was fine with me. The lighting is very sleek. Never realized white LED lighting could look this fancy. Each zone has it's one lighting to it's adequately illuminated. Controls are easy enough and the display is fairly true to actuals based on some basic comparison I did with an oven thermometer. Both zones are pretty distinct and good at keeping their own set temps. The unit itself also runs fairly quiet. I do use the room as a study at times and have not noticed it running in the background. I did catch it cycling once, but it's for the most part subtle. Forgot to mention that the lock on the unit itself was a plus especially with teenagers in the house! The one negative I had was the clarity of the temperature display, slightly difficult to read in lowlight situations.

This is actually a interestingly premium type wine refrigerator that may not have every single refinement of your top end fridges but is certainly not lacking in style and performance. Given the relative price, this is actually a really decent buy.

I like the look of the unit!!! The maple finish on the drawers matches our cabinets to a tee.

My only issues are that it will not hold 28 regular sized bottles. It seems to be running all the time. It is a little loud when it is running.

The drawers seem a little cheesy.

For the price I still fell it was a good buy.

They may say 28 bottles, but the fine print is that they must be skinny bottles. Stack 3 one way and 2 the other for 5 racks and three on the bottom. Forgetta about it. I took the bottles I already have and was able to get three per rack for 5 racks and 3 more on the bottom. Expect to fit 18 bottles. Plus it was cramped. Some of the bottles were fat on the bottom and they barely fit vertically. The dual zone has the higher temperature in the upper zone and the lower zone for lower temperatures. So if you want to store red wine, you'll get to store 6 bottles in the upper zone. I was hoping to store more red than white. I'm probably going to stay with the highest temperature on the lower zone and similar temperature on the upper zone so really the dual zone didn't work for me. I'm going to make it low end for red and high end for white so basically it will be a one zone cooler. I must say, Amazon said I would get it on such and such a day at such and such a time and it did. That was impressive to me. It does have a bit of a hum to it, but maybe it's just because it's getting to the correct temperature. I was hoping for more quiet.

Cooler was deliver at about 9am I unpacked the unit & read that it should sit up right for 2 or more hours, I let the unit set until about 4pm, plugged it in & set the temps to 54 & 48 degrees, When I started the unit the display showed 68 degrees for both the upper & lower sections. two hours later the readings were 78 degrees for both levels, an hour after that the readings were 84 degrees for both levels.Obviously the unit was defective.

I called customer support & left a message (after hours) with a return phone number. When I did not receive a return call by noon the next day I call customer service again, & was told I had to E-MAIL tech support with the problem. That is where the nightmare started.....After sending the model # the serial # & my contact info along with what the problem was, I received a reply with instructions of how to start trouble shooting the defective unit..The instructions completely dis rearguard all the info I had sent describing the problem..My guess is the reply was a computer generated generic e-mail; push this; set that, check for leaks, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Isn't it the manufacture's responsibility to provide a service person to troubleshoot & repair their product when it is ONLY A FEW DAYS OLD!!!

I have NEVER heard of E-MAIL troubleshooting;especially with the customer doing the troubleshooting..... So unless you are prepared to spend DAYS e-mailing Customer Service@

Whynter Innovations Group don't buy from this company. If you do, & you have a problem, brush up on your typing skills....

Whirlpool GSF26C4EXW Gold 26.4 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star

Whirlpool GSF26C4EXW Gold 26.4 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy StarWe've had this refrigerator for for about 4 months and it's driving me crazy! There is a loud fan/motor that comes on frequently to shuttle cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment and it makes quite a racket. We can hear the noise from more than 20 feet away even when watching TV. It's so loud we thought it was broken so had the Whirlpool tech come out for service. He said there's nothing wrong and that's just how it is supposed to work. We've had guests comment on the sound wondering if there was a problem with our "new" refrigerator!

There's also a loud buzzing noise made whenver you use the ice or water dispenser and the same noise happens when it automatically refills the icemaker or water reservoir. I would inquire about this desing on any of the Whirlpool models and definitely not buy this or any other model with similar design.

After 15 months, just outside of the one year warranty, the freezer stopped holding a freezing temp. The ice in the ice maker melted flooding the ice dispenser motor compartment, so it no longer dispenses ice. The items in the freezer will be thawed, but the water dispenser line will be frozen. Now I need to pay whirlpool to fix this defective product, I guess it is a profit deal. Whirlpool's customer service is horrible too, I will not buy from whirlpool again. Their customer service they have referred me to for repairs is a voice mail only number and the voice mail is full. I have been over two weeks trying to paid for service from this company.

This works great on our back patio by the pool. It holds plenty of beverages for the entire family. We have had it for nearly a year now and we have zero complaints.

I use this in my office, and I couldn't be much happier with it. It was inexpensive, and it performs far above my expectations. It is very quiet and seems to be efficient (runs for a short time and shuts off for a long time). There is plenty of space inside much more usable space than a conventional dorm-style mini fridge for not much more money. The door has a convenient holder for cans of soda, and the shelves are easily adjustable.

This was the best price I found on this item including delivery to my office so no hassles getting it into my car. I let it sit upright and unplugged for 48 hours as recommended for mini fridges. It is VERY QUIET which is why I bought it because my office is quiet. Black color is nice and quality seems good.

We upgraded from a 1.7 cubic foot Haier fridge that was several years old and giving us temperature control issues, freezing everything over and building up so much ice that the door wouldn't close. I was ready to go "Office Space" on its a#$ and take it into a field somewhere and beat it into little pieces.

After a lot of shopping around, we finally decided on this Danby for the upgrade.

First let me say that we purchased from an appliance store, not from Amazon, so did not have any of the shipping issues that some people have had.

However, I wanted to contribute my positive review, as I think the product deserves a few more.

Compared to the 1.7 cu ft. fridge, this is utterly roomy and delightful. I was pleased with how much I could fit in here.

It's a functional mini fridge that is silent, except when the compressor kicks in (which is every 30 minutes or so, or after the door has been open for a few minutes) and only runs for a little while. The compressor creates a low-frequency hum that is noticeable but not at all loud or obnoxious. Some noise is to be expected from an appliance, unless you're in the super-high-end ($$$) market, and, in my opinion, this is relatively quiet.

The adjustable shelves inside are glass, not wire, and seem sturdy and well-made. Maybe could have used one extra shelf, but not a big deal. There is a nice spot in the door where you can fit a bottle of wine, a big tray underneath the freezer box for collecting water during defrosting, a temperature adjust knob (which we left at the factory setting and has been perfect so far), a nice freezer (not tall enough to fit a pint of ice cream, but works for us), and it comes with a little ice cube tray...

The #1 problem we were having with the last fridge the freezer has not been an issue with this one.

Ice cubes freeze up in a reasonable amount of time, and things on the refrigerator shelf DIRECTLY below the freezer box do not get frozen. Can I get an amen.

The one reason we ALMOST didn't buy this fridge was that a good chunk of the door space is taken up by a soda can storage system we don't drink soda and were annoyed that this was going to be wasted space. However, we've found ways to make use of it. Because they are compartments for separate soda cans and not one big long "chute" where they are stacked and dispensed, you can stick things in the slots like apples, oranges, even bottles of beer.

The black finish is handsome and clean, the door is reversible, there is one touch automatic defrost overall, it's about as classy as you're going to get for a mini fridge in this price range.

We are VERY happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
