Replacement for Whirlpool Refrigerator Cold Control Thermostat 2198202

I bought this thinking it was an "exact" replacement for my thermostat, but it is not. It looks the same but the part number is different. I wish they had stated it was a generic part on their description. I don't mind generic parts as long as I know that's what I'm getting and they work correctly.

The one I received froze everything in my refrigerator. I turned the dial as warm as it would go to no avail. I started adjusting the little adjustment screw to see if it had been set wrong at the factory, but that didn't help either. The thermostat either let things get too hot and wouldn't turn the fridge on or would continue to freeze everything.

I sent them an email through Amazon explaining my problem, but have received no response after five days. I sent the unit back to them and hope to get a full refund.

the thermostat temperature gradations do not match that of the refrigerator, so it took some time to get accurate temperature settings for the fridge. The installation was pretty straightforward.

I have a newer kenmore coldspot sided by side. It started freezing fresh food and then totally went out altogether. I called sears and repairman and was told it would cost about $300 or more to fix and that is was prob. the compressor. Wrong!! I just had a feeling that is was the thermostat. I looked everywhere and this one was half the price than anywhere else and free shipping. So happy to have found it. Frige is working like new.

This is the worst refrigerator I've ever purchased -and it's all because of the icemaker. It's been repaired 7 times in the last 2 years thanks to having purchased an extended warranty. Predictably every 6 months, the icemaker stops functioning. There's a piece that jams. The repairmen are at a loss. I give up -this weekend, I'm headed to my appliance shop and buying something different. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk.

This model is similar to one we purchased two years ago. We had problems with water leaking from the door from the start, but an independant repairman was able to fix that with teflon tape. Maytag told us to just flush the system again and again. Now the fridge runs, but does not cool. The repairman says it will be $700 to fix, but that no Maytag is worth that. He says it will be nothing but trouble and we're better off buying a Kitchenaide and accepting our losses. Over 2000 down the tubes! But at least were free of the repair bills.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in July of 2012. It quit working in October. Maytag repairman did not have the replacement compressor that was needed. Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 10 days later. That refrigerator worked until the beginning of May 2013 (7 months later). Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 7 days later. We contacted Maytag after we received the new refrigerator and they were not willing to send us any compensation for aggravation or loss of food. Their customer service to say the least is non-responsive. We will never buy another Maytag refrigerator and we tell everyone we know not buy a Maytag refrigerator. Maytag had to know these refrigerators were defective and they should have recalled them. Home Depot Appliance manager told us there were multiple customers who had issues with these refrigerators.

There are many manufactures of appliances and our advice would be not to buy maytag!

Other than the size of the ice maker on the interior, this is a wonderful fridge! Quiet, plenty of interior adjustment, the freezer has remarkable space. Works well for a family of 4, and we do alot of cooking! I did find the beverage chiller took up space, but ordered two shelves for 10 bucks and have twice the door space! Love it!

Purchased one of these 7 years ago, wasted $800 on two repairs in the last 15 months, broken again today. Recurrent problem, fan stops pumping air into fridge although coils are still cooling. Wholly apart from asking its NBC broadcast division to cover up every legitimate question ever asked on the current White House Occupant so as to elect him (and continuing to pander to the occupant's every desire, like a dutiful lapdog) --GE's current business model apparently requires peddling appliances that don't work well, in order to sell unwary consumers ever more costly repair contracts.

We bought one of these GE models some six years ago, and like the previous reviewer were quite disappointed.

First off, the mother board went kaflooey within the first 13 months --naturally, right after the fridge warranty ran out.

That added a $380 repair bill to the $1,200 cost of the fridge.

We then bought a three-year GE repair contract --just in case. That ran another $400 for the next few years, but it was a good thing we had it.

For lo and behold, the mother board went bust again --this time along with the computer on the refrigerator rear. Two computers down, at once.

Additionally, we required a new door magnet.

Finally, when the repairman came out because the door was not closing and bent, he said the door can't withstand the weight of soft drink bottles. Meaning, the fridge door --where many many people store their bottled beverages --is built with material too weak to hold them.

Um, excuse me. A product with shelves ought to be able to hold stuff on them. If there is a weight limit, post a warning sign on the shelves of the new item. GE posted no such warning.

So we have a bent door and can do nothing about it.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. The door paint chips very easily, too, thanks to the slightly ridged surface "look."

Last year, GE called to again renew our repair contract, and now wanted another $500 or so to cover three more years. This time, we told them to go fly a kite.

If and when this fridge again breaks down, we'll be in the market for a new, reliable fridge. Definitely not a General Electric model.

We were reluctant to consider GE for our washer when the old one broke; Only advice from a happy parent convinced us. The washer works, at least.

As for fridges, and pretty much every other GE appliance, we will definitely not include them on our shopping list next time around. As to GE broadcast news, you can bet, we do not watch that trash, either.

We have had several beverage centers at various houses but they did not keep pop and beer as cold as we prefer. I have been KX filters for years. When I changed filters the old ones are still solid in one piece. That's why I use them. This is the work horse carbon filter for reverse osmosis. The main object is to filter out chlorine that degrades the membrane.

According to the specifications, this filter has one of the highest chlorine capacity, meaning that you don't need to change filter that often. It also have VOC filter capacity. I use it after the sediment filter the finest filters goes last.

Now the filters come with individual labels and packing, with the KX mark moulded into the filter.

The spec are tested by the manufacturer. Though I trust my TDS meter. If the readings are consistently good, that means everything is working fine.

I'm a little puzzled. This cartridge works so much better in my GE filter than the GE ones I wonder why this is not claimed in the product description. My filter is hooked to a pantry faucet, not one of those piddly little filtered water taps. But flow is as if there is no restriction from the filter. With a GE cartridge it just dribbles out at perhaps 0.25 gallons per minute. The water taste is excellent,and our raw water has a strong chlorine and organic debris taste and odor, I even have filters on the showers. I could find no specs on the filter. I wonder why.

Tupperware 2.25c MICROWAVE Rice Quick COOKER STEAMER NEW

I bought this because I was just tired of having to use the stovetop and dirty a pot to make rice. It's perfect for one or two people, and produces about 1 1/2 cups of rice. The max capacity is 1/2 cup rice and 1 cup water.

I just used it for the first time and expected some trial and error. The insert says to cook jasmine rice for 8 minutes if your microwave is 900 watts. Mine is 1100 watts, so keep this in mind.

The insert specifically says to use 1 cup of water with 1/2 cup rice, but my Jasmine rice package says it's 3/4 cup water to 1/2 cup rice. I followed the tupperware instructions instead of the rice package.

1/2 jasmine rice, 1 cup cold water. Microwaved for 7 min in an effort to account for a higher wattage microwave. After 7 min, the water was gone, but the rice was a little too chewy. I added about 1/4 cup cold water, and another minute in the microwave, then let it rest for about 5 minutes. It came out perfect.

So, the lesson was that the rice takes more water in the microwave. Mine took 1 1/4 cup cold water to 1/2 cup rice for 8 minutes. Pretty cool to get it perfect on the first try!

I'm going to enjoy using this!

Received today -way ahead of schedule. Looks great and I am anxious to try it out . . . will need to go and purchase rice first!

Just what I was looking for, but these are expensive and break constantly. I bought one in 2006 after 3 years of it being broken more often than it worked and much complaining from me (this is a $4,000 tiny refrigerator!!), U-Line replaced it... And the replacement is even more of a lemon.

Product is awful and U-Line's service is even worse. We live in a major metropolitan area and I think U-Line has been through contracts with 8 local service companies duing that time the local people report they just cnt get the parts or the prduct support necessary.

Seems to be working out great on our Whirlpool Gold side-by-side. It seems to be the exact filter that the fridge came with, but it also came with a vinyl removable sticker that has the month you bought it and the month it needs to be replaced. Very helpful!

I live in Tucson Arizona where the water is cruddy. Very cruddy. I used to have a GE refrigerator with a GE filter system. Filters were about the same price as this one. But having replaced refrigerators and after about a year of using this filter in my Whirlpool refrigerator I can confidently tell you this filter produces a much cleaner taste when drank at room temperature. The temperature where a true taste test should be conducted because even pretty bad water has very little taste when ice cold as you probably have notices. Oh, and replacing this filter in the frig is a snap also.

This part is easily installed into the refrigerator, it lasts a very long time. It needs to be replaced approximately once every 6 months which is perfectly fine with me, better than the one I used to own which needed to be replaced within 3 months. This item is listed all over the internet as a dual zone wine cooler but it is not. We have one (which we ordered from another site unbeatablesale.com and which arrived previously opened and damaged, but that's another story). But, not only did we receive a product with a cracked door, it isn't even dual zone which is the entire reason we purchased it. Nowhere in the instruction manual is it described as dual zone and there is only one temperature control. Don't waste your money on this product. Attempts to contact the manufacturer have been ignored. I totally regret my purchase.

The description does not tell you that you still have to add water to unit in addition to the gel packs. I chilled my chardonnay for seven minutes and it was still warm. I had to chill it for 20 minutes to get it cold enough to drink. Gel packs don't allow you to chill several bottles without having to refreeze them or add ice to the machine.

The product works ok, but then we don't like our Chardonnay super cold either. I'm not so sure that an ice bucket filled with ice and water wouldn't do the same thing in just slightly more time. (You might want to try that before buying this chiller.) My primary reason for writing this review is to say that after about 3-4 months of intermittent use, the chill cells are oozing out freezer gel. They say it's "food safe", but nonetheless, that shouldn't happen. I'll contact Brevelle & hopefully, they'll make it right.

I tried to chill my white wine in seven minutes and it was still warm. They say chill, but what does that really mean? They should say what temperature it chills to in 7 minutes. I guess that is why they have a 15 minute timer. Also the description does not state that you have to add water so it is just as messy as an ice bucket and as much work.

I bought this on a whim, as a gift. It's certainly not all it claims to be; neither is it a total failure. Ten minutes gives you reasonably cool wine.

In my book, three stars is a typical, average product. This gizmo loses a point for being $50 instead of $15.

I received this item as a gift last christmas. We loved it. We are avid wine drinkers and collectors, mostly reds though, so I did not have alot of space in my wine fridge for whites (and the temp is set for my reds). This was a great gift for us, I find it gets VERY cold VERY fast. It even puts a little more chill on my wine than suits my palate, however, my husband does like his colder than I do, so I pour first and replace to chill a little longer for him. I too am very shocked at the low stars for this product. I am trying to find more to give as gifts this year.
