Aqua Fresh WF289 Refrigerator Water Filter
Buy Aqua Fresh WF289 Refrigerator Water Filter Now
I purchased this item because I read the reviews stating that it is just as good as the OEM DA29-00003G. It left a very bad plastic-chemical aftertaste to the water. I followed the manufacturers directions to the tee. The bad aftertaste remained after several gallons of flushing the filter. I ended up returning them to be replaced by the Samsung OEM filter. I wish I would have had a good experience with this filter because it could have saved me a lot of money.Read Best Reviews of Aqua Fresh WF289 Refrigerator Water Filter Here
Bought 3 of these to use instead of the Aqua Pure filter and they DO NOT fit. Waste of moneyI've purchased this brand for many years from other websites without issues, but this filter did not install easily and squirted water all over the fridge, despite repeated attempts. Put old one back in and no problem. Thank goodness for amazon's return policy, but I will not buy this brand again.Sunday, June 29, 2014
Samsung RS263TDWP 26 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star
- 4 Glass Shelves
- LED Lighting
- Twin Cooling System
- Six Temperature Sensors
- Power Freeze/Cool Options
More frustrating is that we cannot buy the spare parts. One of the door bins is described as "not available from the manufacturer" across the internet, including Sears Parts. Our Sears sales man told us manufacturers were supposed to keep parts available for at least 10 years by law. Go figure.
I do like the fact that the refrigerate side is not nearly as dry as the old fridges, due to the so called twin-cooing, or dual evaporator system.

This review is being written as a warning to consumers considering buying a Samsung refrigerator.Prior to this (over a 36 year period) we've owned 2 Kenmore fridges which were reliable and durable, and gave us long service. We bought our SAUMSUNG at a Sears scratch and dent outlet. Various manufacturer's refrigerators were available for us to choose from we chose the Samsung based on price, features and design without researching the product since we had to replace our failing fridge quickly. Of course, buying in a hurry is always a gamble, and the house has the odds. We got a good price, but was it a good value? Read on and judge for yourself.
Recently our Samsung RS263TDWP circulating fan started making a noise which sounded like it was coming in contact with something. After investigating online for known issues I was disappointed to find a class action lawsuit dated October 2010 () where the plantiff complaints describe the fan noise as a precurser to complete failure of the circulating fan, heater element and cooling coils.
Specific to SAMSUNG refrigerators: the cooling coils have a heater element designed to de-ice the cooling coils from time to time. When the heater element fails the cooling coil builds up ice. If enough ice builds up it will impede the circulating fan. Once the circulating fan can no longer circulate cool air within the refrigerator the temperature rises and your food spoils.
Some people had problems within weeks, others experienced problems one, two, or three years from date of purchase. I don't recall reading about anyone having the issue greater than 5 years after buying the fridge, so I would expect a life of LESS THAN 5 years for this product. According to the class action lawsuit, the average side-by-side is expected to live ~12 years, bottom freezer models ~17 years.
Despite the recent fan noise our Samsung fridge has been functioning adequately. The ice maker works like new, and cooling is still good, but we are keeping a close watch on it. If, in fact, the circulating fan is hitting an ice build up it won't be long before the inevitable happens and the fan stops moving altogether. As this review is being written the circulating fan just turned on again and the noise coming from the refrigerator is getting louder and deeper.
Based on the class action lawsuit and potential for serious monetary losses I would advise against buying ANY SAMSUNG fridge. You'll spend more on SAMSUNG in the long run and experience frustration along the way.
IF YOU RELY ON YOUR REFRIGERATOR TO COOL LIVE-SAVING MEDICINES DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG.
Pay your money up front for a better product and save yourself the hassle and risk.

This is the recommended water filter for my refrigerator. It is really easy to install. All you have to do is give it a little push, and click, it's done !How in the world does a filter that is supposed to remove so much introduce what looks like talcum powder floating around in the water I am supposed to drink. The old unit did not have this problem and water from the tap does not have this problem.Want Whirlpool PUR Deluxe Refrigerator Filter (4396841, T2RFWG2, P2RFWG2), 3-Pack Discount?

Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC
- Features full-range temperature control, soft interior light with on/off switch and auto defrost
- Tall bottle rack on door holds a 2-liter bottle
- Adjustable, removable shelf
- Stainless steel door has reversible swing
- Includes 5-ft. AC power cord and 6-ft. DC power cord
I put a remote temperature sensor in the fridge and let it cool to 32 degrees (cold as it will get on high) then put a 20 oz pop bottle in that was full of 80F degree water. It took 3 hours to cool to below 40 degrees and it actually warmed the air temp of the fridge up to 42 at one point. If you put a lot of room temp stuff in there I imagine it would take at least 24 hours to cool it all.
Pros:
-Lightweight (really easy to move it only weighs like 23 pounds)
-Efficient (pulls less than 100 watts and keeps stuff cold)
-AD/DC modes is nice
-No moving parts except for heatsink fan and coldsink fan.
-Lots of space, due to the lightweight frame/insulation and lack of compressor what you see is practically what you get.
Cons:
-Lightweight (don't drop it or you'll definitely add to the dents from shipping, also the insulation can't be that great at that thickness)
-Not very powerful, it will take quite a while to cool things down and cannot handle high air temps or direct sunlight.
-As other reviewers have mentioned you can count on it being damaged in shipping. Ours arrived with one of the back corners crushed and a couple good sized dents in the rear panel. It also had apparently jostled loose the internal AC connections.
-Made in china, and it feels like it too.
Summary: It works pretty well for its intended purpose and although it feels cheap and likely to breakdown luckily there really isn't that much that is likely to break since there is no compressor and the only moving parts are two small fans. If you can't accept cosmetic damage from shipping definitely don't bother. I intend to run it on DC to store products at a farmers market, I'll update the review if it craps out on me.
Update 7/6/2011: It's starting to get rather warm here in southern Idaho and the fridge has a hard time keeping up with air temperatures at/over 80s. As expected you certainly have to be careful to keep it out of direct sunlight or it'll turn into an easy bake oven. Somewhat disappointing because I intended to use it outdoors but if you're using it somewhere that is shaded and climate controlled you'll be fine.

I have used this fridge once in my new custom goat trailer with living quarters. Worked very well on DC power in the trailer and AC in the house for a test run. My only complaint is that the product was dented when shipped. We determined the dents would not effect operation and therefore not worth sending back to manufacturer. The unit runs fine, just the housing was dinged.Read Best Reviews of Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC Here
I bought this refrigerator with the Idea I would use it in a grid collapse for my insulin. I have solar panels and big batteries. If you are looking for a refrigerator for your insulin, don't buy this one it will quit on you, then you can wait two days and it will start working again after you unplugged it. It is a good party refrigerator used intermittently but it is not reliable temperature control. Buy a small unit with a compressor instead of this for medication temperature control.Want Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC Discount?
Just received our Avanti fridge for one of our truck drivers. Like everyone said, it came with some dented corners and beat up box but it seems to work fine in the house on an A/C test run. For the price, seems like a great little fridge. We'll see how it holds up to the highway miles.after reading the online info, I was excited to give this fridge a go in my small RV. It arrived with no dents or dings from shipping and looked great. Plugged it into the wall and worked great to cool off for a few days before moving it to the RV. When I tried to run it off DC, I got nothing. No power. I tried it with several different vehicles/batteries, but no power (despite reading power through the cord with a volt-meter). Called Avanti and they sent me a replacement fridge quickly--cool! Unfortunately the new one wouldn't run on DC either. I called Avanti again. They send out a new cord. Success! It worked for about a week before dying...no DC again. I'm in the middle of a refund request with amazon's seller.I think that this is a great fridge for those who want to run it on AC power. Maybe I just had bad luck with DC, but it seems odd that 2 units and 3 cords have all failed now (under 4 months from my original purchase). Even during the week it worked on DC, it drew 7 amps regularly, and ran for most of the day, which is a lot for most RV batteries. I'm not impressed for RV use.

It will work reasonably well for about 4 months to a year or so and then it will break and the company will do nothing to help you fix it, except offer to sell you an expensive replacement board that is just as defective as the one that just broke. Do a bit of research and do not buy this. I've had two of them after being able to return my first to Costco for a replacement. Second broke just like the first did. If you insist on buying this, you will be replacing it every year.Read Best Reviews of Vinotemp VT-12TEDi 12-Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler, Black Here
Received this wine cooler as a wedding gift within 2 years had same issues as others report and when contacted the company all they said was "you need to buy a replacement control board" and "we cannot guarantee this will solve the problem" which with shipping costs $45. I could purchase a better, more reliable unit for just over $100 and seems silly to replace a control board that is likely to once again break. I do not recommend this product.Want Vinotemp VT-12TEDi 12-Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler, Black Discount?
I've had this for a few years now, didn't get it from Amazon but still felt compelled to write a review.Like everyone else, my unit died on me about two years after I purchased it. I looked into options about fixing it and a new controller board (~$40) was one of them. However, on closer inspection of the controller board, it looked like one of the capacitors was busted (the end of it bubbles out). A little solder work and a new capacitor (~$2 total) and it was working as good as new! I've had it for a year and a half since then with no issues.
If you feel up to the task of fixing the unit and want to get it cheap, look for a broken one on craigslist.I, too, called service @ VinoTemp. Waited on hold for 25 minutes. Confirmed with service that a new board is $47 + $15 shipping = $62.00. I bought mid-2009 from Best Buy for $108.00, so clearly out of their 90-day service window.
Probably best to just ditch it.
However, for you do-it-yourselfers, if you want to fix it, there is a link on their site with instructions.
