Kitchen Aid 5.7 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Undercounter Refrigerator - KURS24RSBS

Kitchen Aid 5.7 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Undercounter Refrigerator - KURS24RSBSI received this as a gift something I've always wanted in my home theater room. Unlike most small refrigerators, this is no "toy"...don't expect something similar to what you might find in a dorm room. No, this is a top quality, high-end appliance that fits in with any decor a high-end full sized unit shrunk down to fit under your bar or in a corner of your favorite room. If you've always wanted a fridge for your theater room, your boat, RV or your outdoor kitchen, look no further.

Construction is right up there with the best of the full-size refrigerator brands. My kitchen has a built-in Sub Zero, and I'd have to say that the KitchenAid, though only one-tenth the size, is every bit as high quality. The outer stainless steel finish is superb, and the sides, top and back are finished nicely as well. Whether recessed into a cabinet or left free-standing, you won't be disappointed with the quality and appearance. It's also available with a see-through glass door if you like that style. No matter which you choose, it's built like a tank and will be providing you with cold beverages for many, many years.

Inside, there's a unique S-shaped wire shelf that gives you simultaneous storage for tall and short objects. There's a handy glass shelf at the bottom, as well as two door racks. I mostly store beverages in mine, and this 5.7 cubic foot unit manages to hold about two dozen compact pint-sized water bottles, two 12-packs of beer or soda, six tall sparkling water or wine bottles and two dozen small drinks. As you might guess, the unit is fairly large for a compact refrigerator, so be sure it fits whatever space you have in mind for it.

Cooling performance is also very good. You set the temperature you want using the dial on the bottom of the unit, and it very rapidly chills down to the temperature you set. Of particular importance to me was the sound level: being in my home theater, I didn't want a loud and distracting unit, and here the KitchenAid doesn't disappoint. First, it is very well insulated so that it cycles on fairly infrequently, and even when it is running, there's not much more than a modest hum. Built into cabinetry (don't forget some sort of ventilation!), it is barely audible. A small tip is to install it on Sorbothane pads this prevents transmission of the noise and vibration to the floor or cabinet.

Overall, I just can't say enough good about this unit...absolutely recommended if you need this sort of thing.

Electrolux EI27BS16JS IQ-Touch 26.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

Refrigerator has clean lines and is very quiet. My only complaint is that the freezer is smaller than I had anticipated. Even removing the ice maker we don't have room for our basic needs. Other that that, no complaints.

Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar

Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar
  • 6-bottle countertop wine cellar in an attractive stainless-steel design
  • Thermoelectric compressor-less cooling technology for quiet operation
  • Controls with 8 presets ensures ideal storing and serving temperatures
  • LED display; 3 removable chrome racks; interior lighting
  • Measures 21-1/2 by 11 by 16 inches; 3-year limited warranty

Good:

* Nice looking, well built

* Digital display with presets for easy temperature setting

* Interior light

Bad:

* Constantly powering on and off every 2 minutes for 20-30 seconds

* Noisy fan while powered on. Louder than a full-sized fridge.

* In the event of a power failure, the unit defaults to the coldest setting (45F) which is a more drastic temperature range than if I left my wine on the counter.

Update: My electric bill went up 157% after plugging in this unit. I would reduce this to zero stars, but Amazon won't let me change my rating.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!!!

Buy Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar Now

I purchased this unit and, contrary to the other reviewers, am relatively happy with it. The fan noise is louder than expected and you certainly wouldn't want this in a quiet area of the house, but its not objectionable in an already noisy area like the kitchen.

Also, I'd like to clear the air about some of the claims against this unit. Many people are complaining about the power usage, mostly because they hear the fan going off and on a lot. The problem is that people are equating this to a refrigerator which would use a ton of electricity if it cycled on and off this much. But a fridge uses a compressor, and this unit uses a thermoelectric cooling system. Its a VERY different system.

I have a power meter that measures the power usage of an appliance over time. This unit uses 15 watts when the fan is off and about 75 watts when its on. I have it set to 57 degrees F, and my house is at 74 degrees. The amount of cycling I get translates to a cost of about $35 a year to run the thing (at 10 cents a kilowatt hour). Seems pretty reasonable to me.

In a fridge, the ENTIRE system (compressor and fans) cycles on and off based on the interior temperature. Since the interior temperature is fairly stable, it doesn't have to turn on and on much.

I'm not an expert on thermoelectric cooling, but my limited knowledge leads me to believe that its a continuous and proportional cooling system. What that means is that its always electronically moving heat from the inside of the unit to a heat sink on the outside. The amount of heat moved depends on the interior temperature, the exterior temperature, and a voltage setting (you set the voltage when you select the temperature on the control panel).

So the fan on the outside is turned off and on just to cool the heat sink on the back. Since the heat sink heats up and cools down quickly, the fan turns off and on frequently to keep it cool. The fan will be on more if your house is warmer. The "cooling" is always happening whether the fan is on or not. That's why it uses 15 watts when the fan is off.

But, and this is the important part, the fan cycling on and off does NOT indicate a compressor or other cooling element turning off and on, so its not using a ton of electricity. Its just the fan.

Now don't get me wrong, the fan cycling on and off can be annoying depending on the location in the house. But don't mistake that for gobbling up electricity.

Other than the fan noise, its a nice little unit. I measured the temperature inside and compared it to the control panel setting and its spot-on. For most people, if you want to use the lowest setting, 45 degrees, you're better off just using your normal fridge since it should be set at around 40 degrees. But if you're really looking for cellar temperatures of 55 to 65 degrees, this does a great job.

Cuisinart claims this operates quietly. This is not true. The unit has a very noisy fan. The fan comes on every few seconds, runs for a few seconds and then shuts off for a few seconds. This cycle continuosly repeats and needless to say it is very noticeable and annoying. I've followed the directions and tried all the presets but it doesn't seem to matter. What a disappointment from what I thought was a reputable company.

Want Cuisinart CWC-600 Private Reserve 6-Bottle Stainless-Steel Countertop Wine Cellar Discount?

As many of the other reviews say, this unit is not a quality unit. Despite following all instructions the unit runs for 30sec, stops for 30sec and then repeats itself. This is very annoying and I would assume a big drain on electriciy. It has not mattered how cool the room is, where I position the unit, or even what setting I set it to. Even in a 67deg room, the unit runs constantly to keep the internal temp at 57deg. We got this as a gift from my parents, and I called the company to ask if it should be running so much. They asked me to send it back, which cost almost $60 because it had to be specially packaged by UPS to be sure it didn't break. We got a new unit and it still runs the same way. I haven't been able to get the company to refund the money I spent to ship the first unit back and they keep giving me the run around, acting like it is something that I am doing to make the unit run constantly. Very disappointed in a company that I thought was high quality.

This is my 2nd attempt at writing a review of this product. We were genuinely excited when we purchased this particular unit. That excitement quickly faded as we learned that it has serious design flaws.

1st: The troubleshooting section states:

The inside temperature does not seem correct The room may be too hot. Example: if the ambient temperature is 80*F or higher, the unit can have difficulty chilling adequately on the white wine setting.

The white wine setting should be about 45*F according to the users manual. Having said that, I took the temperature where the unit is. It is 78*F (I live in Southern AZ where it is hot for 8 months out of 12). I first tried to set the wine cooler temp to 52*F. No dice, the display continued to flash indicating that it was not reaching that temp.

I tried setting it to 58*F. No dice. The display continued to flash. I tried setting it to 65*F. Still no dice.

The other major problem is that as others have reported, the unit will build up quite a bit of condensation on the inside bottom of the unit. It built up so much that it spilled out onto the counter where we have the unit.

I emailed Cuisinart about the problems. I even took a picture of the unit with a digital thermometer on top of the unit clearly showing the room temp to be 78*F. The unit display was blank indicating that it was flashing meaning that it could not reach the set temperature. I had the unit set to 65*F.

I went back and forth with their customer service. They kept giving me canned nonsense answers, and did not read my original email at all. After many back and forth, they finally agreed to replace the unit.

However, after reading some of the other reviews, I am NOT confident that the replacement unit will be any better. If it has problems, I am going to demand a full refund. I doubt that I will get one, but I will demand it anyway.

It is a shame that the unit is so problematic. We have a Cuisinart knife set, and could not be happier with it. The same goes for my Cuisinart coffee maker.

GE GSHS6HGDSS 25.9 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy StarI have be all over the internet and town to look for a good refrigerator. the one i had for the last fourteen years is starting to leak and break down; my husband and i knew that we needed one but which one? i went to sears and we found some nice refrigerators but, they wanted alot for a warranty while the other appliance stores were cheaper. we ended up at home depot and it was on sale at a great price. i have always wanted to upgrade but did not know what features i wanted for instance i knew that i wanted an ice maker, and a water dispenser. with all the new technology i have trouble decideing especially at the different prices and now there are the french doors and the four doors with the $3000.00 price tags. it was like buying a house again. we found it at home depot for under $1200.00 with alot of the feature of the pricey ones. the second draw in the frigde is smaller than it looks check it out before you buy if that is a deal breaker. i love my refrigerator lots of room and storage at eye level and i am 5'7.

Supco RIM501 Replacement for Amana 1110702A and D7824706Q

Supco RIM501 Replacement for Amana 1110702A and D7824706QWith the exception thatthe wiring harness was about 1cm too short and I had to use the wiring harness from the old ice maker, this part worked perfectly the first time. My old ice maker was leaking and causing freeze buildup on the ice tray. Replaced with this part, and old wiring harness took about 15 minutes and a philips screw driver. Please note that you have to take the entire drawer of the freezer apart to conveniently get o the ice maker assembly, and it is critical to get the gears back inline with the notch on them for them to work perfectly. two thumbs up from me on this one.

Easy to install and has been working like a charm for a year now. I would certainly recommend purchasing this item.

Missed having ice cubes in our Amana. Fix great, had to use old connectors but...ice man cometh. My wife is happy.

This was the second replacement ice maker I've installed in this refrigerator. (Other than the ice maker, the refrigerator has worked great.) The first replacement I bought was an Amana from the dealer. It cost $116. You do the math.

I had trouble plugging in the wiring harness, but otherwise it was a simple installation. (Unlike other reviewers experiences, the wiring harness was a trifle too long and hung down below the unit.) After a day, it still wasn't producing ice. It could have simply been that it took an extra long time to cool down to operating temperature, but I decided to use the wiring harness from the unit I replaced. A few hours later it was pumping out ice.

This ice maker works better than the original. Periodically I have to shut it off because I have too much ice. Great performance at a cheaper price. Would that everything was this great of a deal.

TIP: I put the temperature control for the freezer unit between four and five. That seems to be the optimum for the ice maker. Cooler and it tends to freeze up. Warmer and it slows down.

I figure this unit will last two and a half to three years. Trays in ice makers used to be made of cast metal and would last the life of the refrigerator. Now the trays are made of plastic with some sort of coating which allows the ice to release easily. With the constant and heating and cooling the coating eventually breaks down. Prior to breaking down, you'll find bits of plastic in with your ice. The surface of the tray becomes pitted and will eventually be unable to release the ice. When you start seeing those plastic bits in with your ice, save yourself some time and buy a new replacement unit.

This was ordered as a replacement for an icemaker that has been trouble almost from the start. The only negative was that the wires that came with this replacement weren't quite as long as the ones with the old unit. Simply used the existing wires and the icemaker works now without leaking.

Beer Dispenser Kegerator Refrigerator - EdgeStar

Beer Dispenser Kegerator Refrigerator - EdgeStar
  • Store up to a full sized half shell Sankey standard keg
  • 5 lb. brewer preferred, upgraded aluminum CO2 cylinder included, supplied empty
  • 115 Volts / 60 Hertz, 100 Watts, 1.4 Amps, Temp Range: High 30's to Mid 40's
  • Warranty: 90 days labor, 1 year parts
  • Dimensions: 48 1/2 x 20 1/10 x 24 13/16 (height includes the draft tower)

Good:

-Relatively easy to assemble

-provides a CO2 canister

Bad:

-Metal siding feels cheap and loose

-the tap at the top of the kegerator is loose and flimsy. It feels cheap...almost like it will break after a few uses.

-keg does not sit properly inside the kegerator for some strange reason and does not allow the door to fully close. In other words...the kegerator does not do a very good job of keeping a keg closed (which to me is the main purpose of a kegerator)

Overall, this product is a huge (and expensive) disappointment. I advise looking at other products.

Buy Beer Dispenser Kegerator Refrigerator - EdgeStar Now

I bought this product for my fiance for Christmas. It was shiped promptly and received fine. I bought this particular product because it was highly rated for several reasons: customer service from the manufacturer as well as premium function. Unfortunately, these are the two main issues wrong with the product in my case. We opened it up and assembled it. The spring in the handle on the coupler was broken, so when my fiance went to push down on it after retracting it (a "metal" part on the inside should have retracted with the handle) the inside locking mechanism broke off. It was SOOO not made of premium materials. I think it must be some kind of composite metal (something with alluminum). When we contacted the company, they were agressive on the phone and said we would have to pay for a new coupler (with the same crap materials). We said no thank you... instead, the company from whom I bought it was willing to replace the part for free. THAT was good customer service.

Negatives:

-I would not buy this product and expect to be helped beyond having it delivered to your door (from Edgestar atleast).

-Expect really really really crappy materials.

-Directions are contradictory regarding use of CO2 tank and direction of valve handle.

-Not cold enough.

Positives:

-Fridge fits sixtills (spelling wrong) and half kegs perfectly.

-BEER!

This product has it all-incorrect instructions, insufficiently cold temperature, short (three year) life span, and truly horrific customer service! And don't forget the loose, unsecured tower.

When my wife assembled this to surprise me three years ago, she followed the directions to a tee, but the directions included a mistake that caused a leak. That led me to customer service, expecting that in a few minutes or so a knowledgeable technician would be able to diagnose the problem and guide me to fix it. Guess again! You can't ever get someone live on the phone when you call, and they may call back in a couple of days, when you're out or at work. Email was equally frustrating, with lengthy delays in responses and short, terse replies that consistently reflected no concern for either "customers" or "service". Of course, an easy solution to this would have been to schedule a time in advance when we might connect by phone, but Edge Star's customer service folks refused to do that. After SIX WEEKS of trying to get some diagnostic help to solve the leak, I gave up and figured it out myself.

The kegerator has never been cold enough (strange, isn't that the whole point?), but now, after only 3 years, the kegerator won't go beneath mid-40s even with adjustments to the thermostat. Predictably, customer service has been useless, blaming my keg! So now I am shopping for a replacement -ABE: Anyone But Edgestar!

Want Beer Dispenser Kegerator Refrigerator - EdgeStar Discount?

This kegerator says it holds full size kegs--it does not!! The interior is only 14.5 inches deep--from the condensor shelf in the back out to the front.

Any keg with a diameter larger than 14 inches will not fit!!

EdgeStar's "experts" say to just raise the keg above the condensor shelf with some cardboard and then it will fit! But there is a temperature gauge at the top inside, which limits the height. If you raised the keg up at all, all the hoses would be smashed against the top of the thing.

I think this would be perfect for someone who is brewing their own beer or will only use the smaller diameter kegs--not full size or pony kegs.

So before ordering this, please decide which kegs you will probably be using most. Unless you don't mind using bungee cords to keep the door shut and wrap it with blankets or something to keep the cold air in!

Very nice addition to the "man cave". Cuts the cost of beer by close to half when compared to buying by case

This beverage cooler is NOT SILENT. The compressor was defective. It started making noise not long after I got it but I didn't seem to mind...as time went on the noise got louder and louder. Now, past the 90 day warranty, I have to turn the TV up everytime the refrig goes on thats how loud it is. Dave S. from Customer Service does not stand by it's product given I purchased a DEFECTIVE COMPRESSOR. Same story as first review. I would have to pay $250 to return the refrig. Most appliance repair cost $70 to come look at it. Even thought parts are covered for a year, Edgestar will not send me a new compressor unless a licenced Technician makes an assessment AND Edgestar agrees with it. Then they will send the part to the technition to fix BUT WILL NOT PAY FOR LABOR!....So, you buy a crappy product and you're SOL and they couldn't care less. !! DO NOT BUY EDGESTAR.

"ZERO STARS!" I purchased this Edgestar 118 Can Beverage Refrigerator 14 months ago. What a mistake. Don't be fooled by it's good looks, glass door, etc.

It just stopped working. Dead....nothing! Besides that, it was always noisy when it worked. The warranty on this product is only for 90 days. One year on parts. So I called them, and they will not do anything. Even if it was within the one year you would have to send it to them, which will cost quite a bit in shipping costs. I called around to many appliance repair centers and none of them were even interested in looking at it for repair.

I realize that the unit is out of warranty, but shouldn't something that you pay good money for last more than a year??

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!

Seen a couple other reviews on here sharing similar stories.

Add mine to the list.

Beautiful mini-fridge. Durable quality case/door. Everything appears nice, and I was really happy when I got it. I didn't notice the noise problem a few on here have mentioned. Mine was pretty quiet.

Holds a LOT of beers/pop/etc.

But, sure enough...1 month after my one year warranty expired, my unit died.

It's almost too expensive to fix...but too nice to throw out.

I have a repair company coming out tomorrow who said they'll fix it for $150. But to buy another new one, I'm looking at $300..

I guess I'll just chalk it up and think of it as a $400 fridge.

Shame the cooling parts break so much, cause otherwise..it really is a nice fridge.

But no matter how nice...the fact that it broke and I have to have it repaired, cause me to give it 1 star.
