12001892 Maytag Refrigerator Water Valve

My refrigerator was making ice but the water function on the front of the freezer door stopped allowing us to get water. I did some research & used a meter to find out both valves on the back of the fridge had stopped working. Each valve had 2 different sets of wire terminals, 4 total between both valves, and one of the wire terminals on each valve was faulty. This allowed the ice to continue to be produced but could not pump water to the door.

I ordered both valves (Maytag 12001892 & Whirlpool 61005626) from a vendor on Amazon. I passed up the opportunity to save a couple more dollars by buying them from California and instead I chose the vendor, Pandora's OEM Appliance Parts, which are located closer to Michigan hoping they would arrive to my house a little sooner w/o paying expediting fees. I ordered them over the weekend and I assumed they would process the order on Monday, but after not getting any kind of shipping confirmation I sent a message to the vendor asking for an ETA. To my surprise they said they don't ship on Mondays & it wouldn't get processed until Tuesday. After they did ship it it arrived a few day later, which was the same day that the California company estimated the delivery originally so I missed out on saving a couple dollars.

Once the product arrived, I ran into some issues and challenges I was not expecting.

The first item, 12001892, was completely not what I ordered, it was a part for a washing machine. After talking to Pandora's OEM Appliance Parts they shipped out a new one from some other supplier located a couple miles from my house that arrived the next day. They even admitted that another customer

The second item, 61005626 had THREE problems:

1) it was not an exact match to what the old valve looked like, but this was not the fault of the vendor. Whirlpool made the decision to no longer use valves that allow the water lines to thread into them and they now push into a compression fitting so this required extra work I was not expecting. With the some great help from Pandora's OEM Appliance Parts they explained what I need to do. I had to buy new tubing and a converter compression fitting.

2) After getting everything together I found out one of the compression fittings on the actual valve was broken & would not seal correctly. It was leaking water very badly! So I had to again call the supplier and have them send another one. Again the sent it from the same supplier that they knew that happened to be located a couple miles from my house. I asked if I could just go there and pick it up and they would not allow it so I had to wait another day.

3) The new valve that arrived the next day was different from what they shipped me the first time and had two different size valves. It was actually looked like the original one with the threads I was replacing but now I had to redo some of the other "extra work" I did and put in a different size water tube and add an extension of the tube with a compression fitting to make it work.

But after it was all done, everything worked. The next question is for how long?

I am not sure how to rate them, this entire project was all over the place and took a lot longer then it ever should have. Pandora's OEM Appliance Parts helped me out a lot and was good at getting back to me with questions and my many concerns. They did a great job taking care of the customer and shipping the replacements over-night, but ULTIMATELY HAD THEY TAKEN THE TIME TO DO THE JOB CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME and check the quality of the items and verify what was being shipped matched what was ordered a lot of this could have been avoided.

I had to replace both sets of valves on the back of my Maytag "Wide by Side" fridge (purchased

in 2002)in order to have a functioning ice maker and water dispenser. This was the second set.

The kit came with all necessary unions, nuts and the like that could possibly be needed. Works

perfectly now.

This gasket fit well. The magnet is a little on the weak side, as when my employees close the bottom door too hard the top door will pop open, but not the other way around. Otherwise nothing to complain about.

I'm thrilled I finally bought this ice maker and can't believe it took me a decade to do so. Installation was easy. Hardest part was deciphering exactly where the leveling screw went. I finally decided, correctly, that I needed to use the self threading machine screw to screw it into one of the holes in the bottom of the ice maker. It wasn't hard but I wanted to make sure I didn't put it in the wrong spot and wind up damaging the ice maker.

I didn't realize that I would need to purchase a connection kit to connect the water supply to the valve at the bottom of the refrigerator. Not a big deal. Quick trip to lowes and I was in business. Once connected it started making making it's first batch of ice after 20 min or so. I was in heaven! I actually sat watching the ice maker for several minutes. In the 48 hours it's been installed we have a full bucket of ice. No issues with funny tasting ice, small cubes, slow ice production, etc.

This stove looks good and works as expected, except when it comes to the self-cleaning oven feature. There are two settings for oven cleaning: Hi and Lo. Even on the "Hi" setting, it doesn't clean the oven door! And the instructions tell you to not use any sort of oven cleaner (even on the door). What good is having a large viewing window in the oven door if it becomes crusted over with burnt-on food spill? Now I'm going to have to clean the oven door by hand without using oven cleaner. Every other self-cleaning oven I've had always did a great job on the oven door as well as the oven walls. This stove not only doesn't clean the oven door, it doesn't clean the oven walls as thoroughly as previous ovens I've owned. I took great care to choose a stove with a self-cleaning oven feature; unfortunately, none of the many reviews I read reviewed the self-cleaning feature. Because of this problem with inadequate self-cleaning, I would not buy this product again.

Another thing I didn't like is that both of the large elements are on the front. It would have been nice to have one of the large elements on the back so that at least one of the small elements could be on front. If you're cooking something in a small pot while also cooking things in two large pots, you have to reach over the large pots to get to the small pot on the back of the stove while taking great care not to get burned by steam coming from the large pots.

I got a really great price on this item. It came in just a few days and was really easy to install. If you can use a screwdriver and know how to unplug the fridge then you are good...

If your fridge is making a errrrr noise (almost like a loud hum). It is the bearings in the fan motor going out. This affordable part will fix it and ordering it will save you hundreds over a professional.

Also the way I diagnosed it was to take the back of the freezer out. If you take out those two screws and slide the brackets UP that hold the freezer shelf, the back panel just slides UP also.

Spin the blade a little by hand and it will probably work for a little while. I left it that way with all of my food in there and just got the blade spinning each time it made the humming sound, until my evap motor came in.

Fixed good as new now!

Sis went down to our elderly parents basement and was alarmed by the noise the old kenmore fridge in the basement was making and unplugged it because she was afraid of it catching fire. On checking I found that the evaporator fan, in the back of the freezer had bad bearings and was screeching loudly. A replacement fan from the local appliance repair shop was almost $70.Parents did not want to spend big money on an old refrigerator, and they were going to replace it. Found this on amazon and thought why not? Had to do some trimming of the mounting bracket but it works just fine and is very quiet. The old Kenmore cools like new now. If you are buying this I recommend you also check the coil fan, usually located at the bottom of the refrigerator. Be sure that it is free to rotate and blow air over the coils in order for the refrigerator to cool well. Put a drop or two of turbine oil on the shaft where it goes into the motor housing once a year or so to keep it that way. You can buy this stuff locally at your local appliance shop or here on amazon at SEPTLS43479704 Zoom Spout Oilers I am not affiliate with Amazon, and not an appliance repair professional. Order took three business days to ship. USPS delivered in 36 hours from Lancaster PA to Minnetrista MN...very good. Package from USPS (Priority Mail) was undamaged, but internal contents (in box) were not packed for shipment (zero packing) so motor/bracket was bent 90 degrees and penetrating box while all other parts had been ripped from their bags...hope all aren't shipped this way. Being a universal fit made straightening/repair OK, but in addition, motor ran in wrong direction, so had to be disassembled. Never seen one run this direction, but knew I owned it at this point and original was screaming, so I reversed the armature. Supplier was "snarky" when talked to about delivery. Anyone ever looking to get a new washer and dryer I HIGHLY recommend getting front loaders!! Arrive quickly only thing I would change would be the delivery guy advising new front load owners to remove the 3 shipping bolts behind washer before using. Other than that if you get front loaders its best to leave washer door open during long periods of not being use to avoid mold smells
