My frost free Kenmore refrigerator/freezer would frost over solid every two weeks or so. The food in the freezer would start to thaw and the fridge would start getting warm. After some lengthy research, I was able to narrow the trouble to 1 of 3 things, the defrost timer (cheapest repair), defrost control board, and heater element (least likely to break). I first replaced the defrost timer. 2 weeks later the freezer frosted solid again. I then ordered the defrost control board from Amazon. The part arrived 4 days later. I immediately replaced it and 6 hours later the freezer started to defrost. It's been over a week and now the freezer is working like it did when it was brand new.

Pros:

Runs quietly, energy efficient, great storage capability, ease in redesigning the shelf configuration.

Cons: the ice make is horrible! A quick click of the cube dispenser send out about 18 ice cubes (far too many to fill a large cup!), and a quick click of the crushed ice dispenser sends ice chips flying all over the kitchen. The water dispenser, however, is great. If you want ice, get it from the bin (or wear protective gear!

We purchased this refrigerator as part of a four appliance set, and it was the fridge that really made this set the right choice for us.

It was hard for us to find the right depth unit in the brushed stainless look, and we really needed that. The kitchen has a 'fridge insert cutout in the counter/cabinet and most units we looked at were too deep and stuck out too far into the walking space.

This fridge is the perfect size for our needs, and the interior is also well organized. Love it that the racks are easy to move up and down. Also have changed the water filter three times so far (we do it at least every six months) and the swap out was simple to do. Lastly, the exterior water / cubed ice / crushed ice port is easy to use and large enough to get mid-sized bowls right in to the water dispenser.

Really like being able to monitor the refrigerator side temperature and the freezer side temperature separately from the outside, and make adjustments as needed.

As another reviewer noted, the cubed ice dispenser can be very touchy and will put out way more than you need if you do more than just give it a quick poke.

If you are looking for a fridge in this color and size, we recommend this one base on our two years of experience with it.

I love the look of this fridge in my kitchen, plenty of storage space, digital displays are nice. Avalanche style ice dispenser is pretty cool feature, and by that i mean if you want to turn your floor into an icy slip and slide. When you try to fill your cup with ice, it shoots out super fast so your cup fills up instantly and then over flows all over the floor. I would have given this a 5 star review if not for the horrid ice maker flaw.

I bought my Frigidaire in late 2007, the first two 2 years worked fine, but after the third year, the ice dispenser stopped working, send it to fix, of course, the warranty was over. In December of 2011 started out a few drops of water through the water filter (the filter was 5 months),because a design error, the water got into the temperature controls so was a short, which burned the compressor and the control panel, in other words, practically the refrigerator die, this serious design mistake, apparently has been resolved, but everyone who bought that model have a time bomb in it, for now I will not buy any products Frigidaire in the future.

As a Floridian, my refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in my house. This being said, I obviously want the best, most top-of-the-line product that I can afford. Fortunately, Frigidaire products fall in to this category! (or so I thought...). Upon my purchase of this fridge, I could not contain my excitement for the day to come that my new refrigerator would arrive, and I could once again enjoy the luxury of cold Cokes, and ice in my sweet tea! So I waited. And waited. And finally, it arrived! Ecstatic, I wheeled it into my kitchen and unboxed it, hooked up the water line, pugged it in, and opened the big double doors, expecting a blast of cold air...but what did I get? A FACE FULL OF POLAR BEAR!! This thing practically exploded out of the fridge, bowled over me, skidded across the floor, and out onto the patio and into the pool he went! Let me tell you, this was NOT a happy polar bear...I imagine he was hot and cramped from his ride in this fridge, going on trucks and in the cargo class section of an airplane. But anyways, I was mad. Because now, I had to put my new fridge on hold so I could take care of a polar bear that had hitch hiked to my house!! I did NOT pay over a thousand dollars for a pet polar bear! So, what had to happen was, I had to get this polar bear comfortable in the pool so he didn't hop out because he was hungry, and I brought him all the chicken nuggets and fish sandwiches I could buy from McDonald's (and apparently, polar bears like Micky D's... I had to make two trips!), then I had to figure out what polar bears like to do in their spare time, and guess what? They apparently like to play hide and seek in refrigerators in their spare time...but it is rare to not be found by their friends, so this was a once in a lifetime kind of thing! Just like getting a polar bear in a Coke bottle from the vending machine, right? So, I decided to keep him! His name is Pierre! As of now, I officially am a dedicated Frigidaire customer, because of this unique experience! Thanks, Frigidaire, for the great new buddy you sent me, and for the fridge! 5/5 stars!

P.S.If anyone happens to know where I could get fresh seal or penguin, that would be great...I don't think my local McDonald's enjoys me bringing Pierre into the restaurant...he keeps eating all of their burgers and chicken. This is getting to be a huge problem, not to mention Pierre is also getting pretty huge...thanks in advance for any info on where I can get some!

Works fine as a replacement for older model ice maker with wire bin control. I was concerned that it might not work correctly as it is an updated model which uses a lever control and requires an adapter for the electrical connection. The adapter works but could be better designed as it extends the cable so it can be difficult to get the ice maker mounted flush. Overall I am pleased and the ice maker has worked perfectly since installed. It is a good substitute for the order model which is no longer available.

Googled this ice maker model and found a You Tube video on how to replace and it made the process very easy.

The icemaker makes ice and dumps fine but after about the first two times the basket filled I discovered that the shut off lever does not always work properly when the bin is full. This model requires ice to push the lever back horizontally instead of shutting off when ice builds up on top of the lever. I have to manually move a switch to off position before it will quit making ice. I do not recommend this unit for my Kenmore fridge/freezer.

I picked up one of these about 2 weeks ago. The unit was used, but it looks like it was hardly used.

First off, It is NOT A FRIDGE. It is a Cooler. The unit uses thermoelectric cooling. That means, instead of needing a lot of power to operate a conventional Cooling system with compressor, fan condensor, and evaporator, it uses a small computer sized fan, and a small chip.

The result is more interior space vs. a conventional unit, and get this... 65W power usage. Thats all.

Its not as good as a real fridge, but it will cool items inside (beer) 20-30 degrees below room temp. so if your house it 75, its going to give you a beer at 45.

The unit is very very quiet, and holds over a case of beer. I have mine right next to my couch, and I can't hear it run unless I really listin for it.

If you know what your needs are and a drink cooler is it, then I say save the watts and get this instead.

I keep this refrigerator in my back hall. It's purpose was to hold a few bottles of water so I wouldn't have to go into the kitchen with shoes that were dirty from doing yardwork. What a waste of money! The water is barely cooler than room temperature.

My son took it to college and didn't tell me it didn't work. Now it's too late Target wised up and stopped selling this piece of junk. I want my $100 back. Guess I'm sunk. There aren't too many choices when you're looking for a stainless steel cabinet-depth French door refrigerator, and I'm glad we chose the one we did. This fridge fits the space nicely (anything else would have stuck out), is super quiet, makes great ice (we actually prefer not to have the ice dispenser in the door)and looks beautiful. We like that the top tray with the ice is in front when you pull out the freezer compartment. The only flaw is that the freezer door is a little sticky.

I love the new fridge. So far everything is running well. All the features are great. Perfect size for the counter top. Most definitely more storage than the old side by side that it replaced. I did not want the in-the-door ice and water dispenser. I have been down that road and the convenience does not outweigh the headaches when it breaks down. Every through the door ice and water dispenser I have ever had has broken down. The only problem that I have found (and I have seen this in another review) is that the sliding freezer door sticks after it slides about 2-3 inches out. It's like there's a catch. I've looked and looked for it. I cannot find it. It must be in the slide mechanism. I will try to keep you updated after I call Fridgidair.

This model has an ice maker that will self destruct.

Our appliance repairman said as much and told us that we should have Frigidaire replace the entire unit.

Frigidaire says they have re-manufactured the ice maker so that new models do not self destruct.

They are even willing to replace the entire unit, but I have trust issues. . .

I have owned a similar Frigidaire Gallery unit (ice maker in the freezer) for 18 months now and I would NOT purchase this unit, or any similar unit, from Frigidaire again.

Here's the issue I have had the Ice maker replaced once (I'm on my second ice maker) and every so often, the mechanism freezes over. The problem is that the mechanism that fills the ice tray is gravity fed. Something goes wrong, and the ice maker spews water all over the inside of your freezer. And your ice maker... And the large gears that the freezer door relies on to open and close.

So, last night, my freezer door is completely frozen shut. I nearly broke the unit (not to mention my back, legs) trying to get the freezer door open so that I could spend 45 minutes at a really odd angle with a blow dryer trying to melt and chip away at the iceberg that was the left side, back and bottom of this freezer unit.

Unless your masochistic, or just feel like playing a bad joke on someone, stay away.

I only recently learned of a "counter-depth" refrigerator. I have a small, U-shaped kitchen and my former standard depth refrigerator stuck out and spoiled the balance of the kitchen. This is the ONLY 'frig' I could find that met my criteria: counter-depth, no water/ice in door (been there/done that) and freezer/ice maker in drawer. Fits perfectly and looks built in. I do not like stainless doors, so for me this was a negative but not a deal-breaker. Ironically, the sides of the refrigerator are patterned grey vinyl -what I would have preferred for the doors. Not on my must have list, but I like the French doors. The frig is much roomier than expected. This was a special order at my store, so I could not see the interior before ordering.

I paid $1829 delivered by a local store, for the Professional Series. The Gallery series was quoted at $1779. So far I am thrilled with it. Hope this helps.

I ordered this "Danby" wine cooler from Dependable Resource. We ordered it for our basement renovation so we were not able to open right away but when we did it did not work. They gave us a company called B&H Appliances in Gardner, KS to have it fixed. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company. They have had the cooler for over 4 weeks now and I get a different answer every time I call to find out what is taking so long. I have tried to get answers through Danby and I have tried to get answers and help through Dependable Resource. No one will help me and I have paid over $900 for this equipment that does not work and no one will help me get fixed.

Don't order big equipment like this from Amazon because if it doesn't work you are hosed! Order from a local company so you can return it and you have some leverage!

After looking on line for a 50+ capacity wine cooler and reading several reviews, I decided to buy the unit. First off, the unit has a temp locking feature which doesn't allow for changing temperatures without extra steps to access and change the temp.Also, the wine racks will not hold anything other than a standard size bottle unless you remove one of the racks above the larger size bottle (viz., champagne shape bottle).

Worst feature is the noise. While the unit is attractive enough to be put anywhere, the compressor is louder than an old refrigerator and it cycles on frequently, even when the temps outside are cool, so you can imagine how much it will run when it gets hot outside. I tried putting it in the living room but the noise was too distracting to watch tv or have a conversation so if you buy this unit, keep it in the garage or basement.

Recently bought Jan 2012. Intially the unit was quiet...with in 30 days the unit made a swooshing noise that has only goten worse. Avanti did have a tech come out...but since the unit turned on/off and cooled properly they would not fix the noise. Be careful...this unit has gotten so bad (in kitchen) that I had to remove due to the overbearing swooshing that resonated throughout the house.

Bought in November 2010, delivered and installed in December 2010. Freezer went out in December 2011 over the holidays, and called Frigidaire for service on January 3, 2012, only to be told we "should've called in December, appliance is no longer under warranty" and they would not offer to service it under warranty as a courtesy. So my final recommendation: DO NOT BUY FRIGIDAIRE APPLIANCES, they do not stand by the quality and reliability of their products when given the opportunity too. I am a first-time customer and now a last-time customer. Sticking with Kenmore or Whirlpool.

I had this refrigerator 4 weeks when the defrost coil melted the plastic insulation creating a horrible burnt smell that wreaked for weeks in my house and ruined all the food that was in the fridge. The service rep came to my house to see about the problem and promptly recommended a replacement refrigerator. After 6 weeks of waiting and literally hours on "hold" with the Frigidaire Customer Service Department, still no replacement. I've been living out of coolers all this time. I have talked with at least 6 different Customer Reps during this time, often passed to a Manager. The managers are always busy and I am told they will call me. Managers rarley return my calls. This seller is not at all implicated in my dispaeasure with this product.

This stove looks good and works as expected, except when it comes to the self-cleaning oven feature. There are two settings for oven cleaning: Hi and Lo. Even on the "Hi" setting, it doesn't clean the oven door! And the instructions tell you to not use any sort of oven cleaner (even on the door). What good is having a large viewing window in the oven door if it becomes crusted over with burnt-on food spill? Now I'm going to have to clean the oven door by hand without using oven cleaner. Every other self-cleaning oven I've had always did a great job on the oven door as well as the oven walls. This stove not only doesn't clean the oven door, it doesn't clean the oven walls as thoroughly as previous ovens I've owned. I took great care to choose a stove with a self-cleaning oven feature; unfortunately, none of the many reviews I read reviewed the self-cleaning feature. Because of this problem with inadequate self-cleaning, I would not buy this product again.

Another thing I didn't like is that both of the large elements are on the front. It would have been nice to have one of the large elements on the back so that at least one of the small elements could be on front. If you're cooking something in a small pot while also cooking things in two large pots, you have to reach over the large pots to get to the small pot on the back of the stove while taking great care not to get burned by steam coming from the large pots.
