Rutherford 36 Bottle Wine Cabinet

Rutherford 36 Bottle Wine CabinetI bought this wine cooler a little over a year ago and just after a year one of the control boards failed. This unit has two twinstar wine coolers inside a gorgeous cabinet. I have now been waiting over 2 months for a replacement board that I am paying for but it comes from China (Duh) and is still on back order. It is very frustrating as I love the cabinet but hate the twin star service.

This cooler is supposed to cool to 45 degrees. The unit I have, new and out of the box, "cools" to 67. Tresanti admits the advertisement that this unit cools to 45 is "wrong", and the resellers that are providing that lie to consumers get that false information directly from Tresanti and their parent company Twin Star.

They admit the cooler I have does not work at all. They admit they no longer sell the refrigeration units used in this cooler. They "offered" to send me the units they currently sell, which cool red and white in the same unit, but I have to install the new refrigerators myself, and they claim there is no warranty on this unit because they choose which of the vendors selling their units they will or will not cover with the advertised manufacturer's warranty. How ridiculous is that?

When you disagree with their business practices, their representative insults you personally. This company should not be in business.

When I ordered this, there was not any reviews...but it looked so good I took a chance. It is gorgeous! I have no regrets. The top section holds the tallest wine glasses and the backlit area is beautiful behind the glasses.

I ordered mine through another company and had no problems. Highly recommend the product, but cannot speak for the seller on Amazon.

I ordered this item, a delivery date was scheduled, and funds were withdrawn from my account. Now, days before delivery was scheduled, my order was cancelled and this item is no longer available on Amazon.com you have to go to an external site (that does not carry the Amazon guarantee). The item is now listed as backordered on that site... Not sure if I'm going to buy it based on the runaround.

Maytag MFF2558VEM 24.8 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

Maytag MFF2558VEM 24.8 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy StarI love this refrigerator. I have owned it for a year and a half (with no problems). Below is my opinion based on each feature:

1. French Doors. I love them. THe left door has a flap that sort of flattens out as you close the door to seal against the right door. Because of the little flap, the right crisper drawer does not pull all the way out if the left door is closed. Alternatively, you CAN keep the right door closed and pull the left crisper drawer all the way out. Anyhow I usually end up opening both doors when i go to the fridge, so it will take 2 hands, but i still love the french door look.

2. Inside water dispenser. Love that too. THe only bad design is the button to get the water is a few inches above the actual dispenser. it is difficult for me to get a glass of water with one hand; i usually hold the glass with one hand and press the button with the other. But i do like this design much better than the 'outside of the door' water dispenser; i think this fridge has a cleaner look. I didn't even notice the inside water dispenser at first, it takes up VERY LITTLE room which is great!

3. Drawer freezer. I like it enough for what I have (bachelorette food like hot pockets and lean cuisines). I expected it to hold a bit more than it really does. I do like the fact that it's wire baskets that hold my food rather than a solid surface; sorta eliminates cleaning. THe reason i don't TOTALLY love this freezer is simply because if I had a bowl of liquid, i would have to be VERY CAREFUL to freeze it (such as an extra water bowl for my dog). Anything you want to be in the freezer will need to move/slide to get it in there i have to only fill the bowl 1/2 full of water or else it will spill when i close the freezer door.

4. Adjustable "no spill" shelves. These are great. Everything is adjustable which is perfect for me. I adjust them quite a bit actually. Also there is a small lip on each shelf so if something leaks, it won't drip down the back wall of the fridge. I like this idea. Also the shelves pull out a few inches in case you have something in the back you need to reach.

Overall this is a great fridge. It also beeps after a few minutes if you accidently don't close a door all the way. Temperature of both the fridge and freezer are displayed at the top inside of the fridge. Very easy/intiutive to adjust. Those small flaws listed above are very easy for me to live with; i would buy this refrigerator again. And, i love the stainless steel look!

Owned for six months. Worked great until starting running very hot. Stopped working all together. Under warranty, obviously, and replacement parts ordered. The replacement parts they sent me were themselves defective and had to replace the replacement parts. Long story short, Thanksgiving canceled and without a fridge for a month. Maytag, which after doing some research online, has suffered dramatically over the years in terms of quality and simply does not deserve its relatively decent reputation they still enjoy. This brand is garbage.

Three month old unit. Made loud noises the evening before the freezer section quit.

After five days , an authorized Maytag technician attempted to repair the refrigerator

only to find that the specified replacement part was too large to place in the

refrigerator.

After working on the unit and talking to a number of people, he called the refrigerator

non-repairable.

He contacted Whirlpool/Maytag and ordered an entire replacement refrigerator (fingers crossed).

Thank heaven we bought an independent extended coverage policy.

By the way, Whirlpool/Maytag has a limited warranty which they were "kind" enough to

cite over the phone that says, even for brand new products, they will not cover "any

food or medicine loss due to refrigerator or freezer product failures". Which just about

says don't put more in their refrigerators than you can eat in 24 hours or so.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in July of 2012. It quit working in October. Maytag repairman did not have the replacement compressor that was needed. Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 10 days later. That refrigerator worked until the beginning of May 2013 (7 months later). Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 7 days later. We contacted Maytag after we received the new refrigerator and they were not willing to send us any compensation for aggravation or loss of food. Their customer service to say the least is non-responsive. We will never buy another Maytag refrigerator and we tell everyone we know not buy a Maytag refrigerator. Maytag had to know these refrigerators were defective and they should have recalled them. Home Depot Appliance manager told us there were multiple customers who had issues with these refrigerators.

They're are many manufactures of appliances and our advice would be not to buy maytag!

I was excited to try my 1st french door with bottom freezer at our new house. I was sorely disappointed by this feature--the freezer is VERY easy to leave slightly ajar without knowing it, which happens often with the kids and mother-in-law. The fridge left-side door does not always close completely even with a firm push--you will hear a noise like it is closed, but if you don't check to make sure it is closed 50% of the time it is still ajar. Freezer light socket stopped working after 6 months, not a burnt out bulb. The freezer has pool of water/ice collecting right at the 1-year mark of ownership. Ice melts every day or two and leaks out of fridge and has ruined our hardwood floor. Turned off water supply to ice maker, didn't solve issue. Seems to be an issue with the auto-defrost cycle water leaking into freezer.

If I had it to do over again I would have at a minimum gone with a unit that had an alarm to notify you when the door is left ajar--or I would have gone with a better brand that has a spring loaded mechanism to thrust the door shut every time. I also would not buy a bottom freezer model--even though the freezer is 50% bigger than our last top-freezer model due to the annoying design of the slide out drawers you lost a TON of storage space. Also, the pull out design is horrible for energy efficiency, think of it this way, you pull all the cold items out into the warm kitchen, which removes virtually all the cold air in one swoop. The Energy Star rating likely does not take this into account.

Kenmore Defrost Control Board 2304099 C

Kenmore Defrost Control Board 2304099 CMy frost free Kenmore refrigerator/freezer would frost over solid every two weeks or so. The food in the freezer would start to thaw and the fridge would start getting warm. After some lengthy research, I was able to narrow the trouble to 1 of 3 things, the defrost timer (cheapest repair), defrost control board, and heater element (least likely to break). I first replaced the defrost timer. 2 weeks later the freezer frosted solid again. I then ordered the defrost control board from Amazon. The part arrived 4 days later. I immediately replaced it and 6 hours later the freezer started to defrost. It's been over a week and now the freezer is working like it did when it was brand new.

Frigidaire FFHT2126LB, Top Freezer, 20.6 Cubic Ft Refrigerator, Black

Frigidaire FFHT2126LB, Top Freezer, 20.6 Cubic Ft Refrigerator, BlackI've never had a worse refrigerator in my entire life! I got a great deal on this fridge 4 years ago. As it turns out, it wasn't such a great deal.

For the first few months, every 3rd or 4th time I opened the refrigerator, the shelves would fall off of the door, dropping all of my dressings and condiments onto the floor. Once, that would be annoying; after several times, I was ready to chuck the fridge. My husband ended up taping the shelves on with electrical tape and that solved that problem.

After about a year, the door hinge began to bend. We didn't have heavy stuff in the door nothing more than normal. As the door bent, it started getting caught on the switch that turns the light off as the door closes, causing the door to not close. To solve this problem, we taped part of a clothes pin to the door and it closed just fine.

The freezer was a huge problem! It NEVER SEALED COMPLETELY! For years, we've had slimy popsicles, fuzzy ice, and ice cream with a strange texture. You could tell by looking at the door that it wasn't totally sealed and the door stuck out past the refrigerator door.

About a year ago, the refrigerator stopped cooling. I cleaned the compressor and turned it down and it seemed to nurse it along for a little bit.

About two weeks ago, we began hearing a mysterious clicking noise in the kitchen. We couldn't find it, but it began to become more frequent. On Saturday morning, I opened the freezer to get something and noticed that everything was thawed, the ice compartment was full of water, and the temperature was only mildly cool. After further inspection, we realized that the refrigerator was also warm.

To sum it up, this refrigerator lasted us about 4 very annoying years. It has been my least favorite appliance and the object of much anger and frustration. I was angry when it died a premature death, but also relieved because I could finally buy something new that is reliable.

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR! Save yourself the heartache, spend a little more money, and buy something that works.

Frigidaire Ice Maker / Icemaker 5303918277, 218699501, M1

Frigidaire Ice Maker / Icemaker 5303918277, 218699501, M1
  • Works with the following models: Frigidaire KS540NKW1, Frigidaire KS540NKW2, Frigidaire KS860NKW1
  • Frigidaire KS860NKW2, Frigidaire REG433MNW2, Frigidaire RG533NL1, Frigidaire RG533NW1

I bought this icemaker to replace the icemaker that wasn't working in my 2003 side-by-side Frigidaire fridge. It looked the same as the one I had, but it wasn't the same part #, so I took a chance and bought it. IT WORKS GREAT! It took me 2 minutes to remove the old icemaker and install this one (literally). All you have to do is loosen the two screws on the side, lift the icemaker off the screws (brackets on the side) and then unplug the wiring adapter. It really is that simple. This price was a third of what I found elsewhere. If you need a new icemaker...this is one Do It Yourself that you really can do!

We've got a 20+ year old refrigerator/freezer and the ice maker has gone kaput. After much research, Frigidaire told me that this was the model I needed; but, after buying it, it was clear the connectors are different. Wasn't sure if it could be wired by an electrician, but going deeper into the Frigidaire ranks of technicians, I was told that the differing power requirements could start a fire, so I, unfortunately, had to return it. Note to others: if you have a really old refrigerator, ask Frigidaire to send you a picture of the connector before you buy so you can see if you have a chance of getting them to match. I wish I had.

Easy to install....perfect replacement for our 15 year old ice maker. Just made the connections using the adapter enclosed with the kit-----mounted it onto existing screws inside the freezer----was filling with water within one hour. Thought about troubleshooting parts inside but for bucks and no need to call a plumber, this is a better value!

8 Months ago, my friend left the country and left my 6 bottle of expensive red wine ($3000) worth. I don't have any wine cooler at the moment. After a quick research online, I order this product. It's been quiet, functioning since then. It also looks good. I wish I could put more bottles in it.

I got this unit to replace the VinoTemp model that I purchased a year ago. The Vinotemp only lasted a year and then it quit cooling and I spent 2 months and more money than I should have to try and fix it. Vinotemp is not a customer service company so with that being said I am already really please with the Wine Enthusiast model. I think it is an excellent value for the price and if it quits in a year; I will more than have gotten my money out of it. It is quiet, looks great on the counter and is actually smaller than the Amazon measurements online which I like. It cooled really fast had to wait almost 2 days on the other brand. The only disapointment so far is that I like to use the vacumn tops on opened bottles and the door will not shut completely. I have to put a single bottle on a shelf by itself if it has a vacumn top and turn it diagonal to shut the door.

This refrigerator is the perfect size; it doesn't take up too much room on my wet bar and it the height fits perfectly under the cabinets. Wine just tastes better with a little chill to it!

SquareTrade 4-Year Appliance Protection Plan ($350-400)

SquareTrade 4-Year Appliance Protection PlanWhen I bought the service, I bought it for a $650 laptop. However I bought a display laptop for only $450. So in essence I bought a $650 in value laptop for only $450. So when something broke on my laptop they basically told me that they can't fix it, because the service we bought was only up to the coverage of the $450 that we paid for the laptop. Basically they're policies are s***. Not to mention the customer representative started to argue with me and literally shouted at me for 10 minutes before I realized I didn't have to take s*** from them and just ended the call.

I am happy with this purchase, but haven't had to use it yet thankfully, I'll update my review if my espresso machine ever craps out on me.

Engel 22 Qt. Portable Fridge / Freezer

Engel 22 Qt. Portable Fridge / Freezer
  • Variable Temperature Control
  • Incline Operation up to 30° off level
  • Highly Efficient Engel Swing Motor - Low Amp Draws (even at start-up)
  • 100% CFC-Free Compressor
  • Vibration Resistant for Extreme Conditions

I've tried plastic coolers and a Peltier cooler/warmer over the years for multi-day (as opposed to multi-week) camping trips. Coolers have barely cooled things and are messy with melt. The Peltier cooler had the same minimal performance, merely slowing the rate of thawing. This year (2012) I decided to get a real baby refrigerator and the Engel seemed to have a good pedigree. I wanted something to fit in the back of my 2-door Explorer, which has a rather small "trunk" area. The standard size MT-35/MT-40 measured to fill up half the floor space but would disrupt access to the spare tire tools. The lid would likely hit the roof, and a fancy slide-out tray would probably be the to make it work. That seemed like total overkill for something I knew I would really only fill a few times a year (for camping trips). Most of the time it would just carry a few drinks and snacks for picnics and workdays at the boatyard. Stepping down the Engel range, I settled on the MT-27. It fits the Explorer with proper spacing for ventilation. The top is about level with the bottom of windows and does not block vision. I use the Engel transit base for a tidy installation and added an aft power outlet for power. I actually wired it downstream of a fancy carging relay for the pop-up trailer. This works out very elegantly since the relay lets the alternator charge the truck battery first, then supplies the trailer. This means when the trailer is attached, the trailer battery runs the refrigerator continuously so it can cool down during the drive to the campsite. For local use, the refrigerator runs when driving around but cuts out when parked, preventing battery drain.

I set the MT-27 to "3" for the initial test run, loading it with "cool" items to start. After a day of continous operation, the contents seemed a little non-quite-cold-enough, so we cranked it up to "4". The next morning, things were getting a little frozen, particularly items close to the cooling element around the top of the box. We tried nudging it back to a lower number and eventually ended up back near "3". Other items to note are that the maximum noise is a gentle hum and most of the time I need to check the lights to see if it is running. The wire basket works great to leave the main unit in the truck but access "everything" for major operations, like loading or retrieving ingredients for a meal. The weight of the empty MT-27 is pretty easy to sling around. I think this is an optimum unit for my casual operation.

Summit 2 Sliding Door Beverage Cooler

Summit 2 Sliding Door Beverage CoolerThe Summit beverage center is great for home use and a much better option for beverages than using a full size refrigerator. It takes up less space and holds more beverages than an average "second refrigerator"

I give this appliance a 2 as mechanically it is terrible! No kids "in and out" of it is a commercial grade applicance than can not withstand minimal use! The compressor seized up in less than 3 years, while the part was covered under warranty the repair cost me over $500! 8 months later it has seized again. Customer service at Summit is terrible they are not willing to help defray any of the cost. Repairs will have cost me more than the original purchase price. I would not recomend this appliance!

Do not buy anything from Summit. The merchandise is terrible and they WILL NOT stand behind their products! Avoid the problems I had and buy from another manufacturer!

Amana Refrigerator Defrost Timer 10530703

Amana Refrigerator Defrost Timer 10530703Item fits/works fine. Through Amazon this item was less than 1/2 price the cost of the factory replacement part & I expected this one to be a cheap copy of the original. However the original Kenmore part appears to be manufactured in the same Chinese factory, as all markings are identical.

Seems to have fixed the icing up issue in the freezer with the timer never kicking over to defrost. Everything seems to be working great now. Still need to install the thermostat as a precaution but the timer is working great.

Build seems comparable to original (which lasted 23 years). Simple. Power off. 3 screws. Unplug the old. Plug in the new. Close it up. Power on. So far so good. I used the original self tapping screws instead of the nuts and bolts supplied though. Much easier in the tight space.

Want Amana Refrigerator Defrost Timer 10530703 Discount?

It fits and does the job. But fridge still occasionally freezes the milk, have to manually defrost by turning the timer's knob to OFF a few times (extending the defrost time several fold) then it is OK for a few months. Or weeks. Kind of unpredictable. I think ice forms in the air channel between the freezer and the fridge (the floor of the freezer) and maybe locks the flap that regulates the air flow down into the fridge part. Whatever it is, this timer is supposed to prevent ice buildup by turning on a heater. I wonder if the heater is doing its job. May just junk the fridge if it quits regulating entirely.

LG Lrg30355st 5.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Range With 5 Burners Warming Drawer Smoothtouch Controls Stainless St

LG Lrg30355st 5.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Range With 5 Burners Warming Drawer Smoothtouch Controls Stainless Steel
  • 5.0 cu.ft. Capacity
  • 5 Sealed Gas Cooktop Burners
  • Electronic Ignition System
  • Available in Premium Stainless Steel finish
  • SmoothTouch Controls

We ordered the LRG30855ST, which is the top line model (one up from this one) of LG's Kitchen series. This was after much research. We'd originally ordered a professional-grade DCS range, only to find out later that the knobs and front panel got very hot when the oven was on. We have a 9-month-old in the house, so that option was out. KitchenAid and Bosch models were also interesting, but neither had a very good reliability record. KitchenAids were really expensive to repair, and apparently needed repairs quite often. The Bosch models also had hot spot problems.

LG delivered the wrong range we got the LRG30355ST instead, but we were able to keep it for a couple of weeks while they shipped out the correct range. The 303 we ordered came in black, and looked great. Stainless is very sturdy and professional looking, but is really hard to keep clean scratches easily, and fingerprints look terrible. I do a lot of cooking, so black was much easier to keep looking good.

The 303 does not come with convection, regardless of what the other reviewer said--it also does not have the temperature probe, and the grates are a different finish. Other than that, the two models are very similar, and frankly, unless you are going to rely heavily on your convection, I'd recommend the 303 over the 308. Both are attractive ranges, have great build quality, the front knobs and surfaces stay cool (even the window) for curious kids, (all ranges these days have the anti-tip device, so that's not an issue) and for the extra money, you could go pretty far towards buying a hood.

Both have a nice, big, insulated view window, and a bright, well-placed light.

Both have a very accurate temp control.

Both have a large capacity oven, and cook quite evenly (even the non-convection). Convection is great for cooking a lot of food at once, so the efficiency is wonderful. It is not "true" or "European" convection on the 308, though--basically, the fan just blows the hot air around, eliminating hot spots in the oven. True convection has a heating element in the actual fan, so it blasts the food with superheated air, giving you very fast and efficient searing. Maybe the LG electric range has it dunno. Convection on the 308 gas range works fine though. I baked several racks of cookies at once as a test, and they all came out great without needing to be turned. One thing I did notice is that while very crisp, convection does not brown as well as non-convection, so that's something I'll have to adjust to. Fortunately both LG ranges have great broilers (2 heat settings).

One safety issue regarding the 303 though the grates are enameled cast iron, so pans tend to slide really easily on them. So if you catch a pot handle on your clothing walking by, it could slip.

Both ranges have five burners, and the big one has "Super Boil," ( I think it's 16K BTUs max) meaning you can crank a massive amount of gas through it for boiling water quickly. It's also a Super Wide burner though, so unless you have a 12" or wider pot, all that heat is going to go around, not under, what you're trying to heat. The small burners (2 of them) are great for stocks, melting, and other very low heat applications.

Cooktop space, though, can be an issue. Bad enough trying to fit five big pots side-by-side on the cook top, (though it's actually pretty good for a 30" range), but there is also a guard lip that protrudes from beneath the panel. This protects the electronics in the back panel, but it also sticks out far enough so that any pan higher than a can iron skillet will not fit over the two back burners properly. High-sided saucepots have to stay forward, which is fine, since the two front burners are the largest anyway, but something to consider for big dinners.

Finally, both ranges have issues with the electronics panel. It's very slick, brightly lit, easy to use and clean, and the beeps are not annoying (and you can program them to go away, to a certain extent), but if you live in an area with a lot of electrical surges, lightning, blackouts, whatever, these panels are prone to getting zapped. No room to put an Uninterrupted Power Supply back there for backup, so if you zap it, it's done. May not be an issue for you, but living near Boulder, Colorado, it was worth it for me to get to get the 4-yr warranty.

In summary:

Pros: Great performing and looking range; fit and finish, appearance, safety, noise, reliability were all outstanding. I'll take this LG over Dacor, Wolf, KitchenAid, DCS, or any of the other high-end ranges available. Having cooked on both, I probably would have gotten the 303 over the 308. I can live without the convection and the temp probe, and I don't think the 308 comes in black, so now I have to spend more time cleaning the stainless parts. But the bare cast iron grates are great.

Cons: The 303 has slippery grates, either model has cooktop space limited by the heat guard, and panel electronics are susceptible to power surges or lightning strikes, if that's an issue in your area.

Buy LG Lrg30355st 5.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Range With 5 Burners Warming Drawer Smoothtouch Controls Stainless St Now

The LG kitchen series is just plain beautiful. The oven works great and is also used as a convection oven. The timer can be used with or with out the use of the stove top or oven. We purchased this with the matching microwave and have been enjoying cooking again. The grates on the hob are continuous so pots can be moved without lifting. This is very handy with cast iron cookware. If you are looking for a range that will knock you socks off, this is it.

Water Sentinel WSG-1 Replacement Fridge Filter

Water Sentinel WSG-1 Replacement Fridge FilterI was checking out these filters to replace the more expensive GE filters. According to Water Sentinel themselves, these filters are certified against ANSI/NSF Standard 42, and only Standard 42. That standard is soley for aesthetics; that is, the filter removes chlorine that makes the water taste bad. The GE filters are certified against ANSI/NSF Standards 42 and 53. Standard 53 is for the reduction of lead, mercury, Giardia and other cysts, asbestos, and many other chemicals. The Water Sentinel filters do not claim that they are certified to remove these items. So, although the water tastes better than tap water, it may not be any safer than tap water. If you're buying filters only to improve the taste of the water, these are definitely less expensive than the GE filters. If you're buying filters to improve the safety and quality of the water, you may wish to look at other filters.

From the ANSI website:

NSF/ANSI Standard 42: Drinking Water Treatment Units Aesthetic Effects

Overview: This standard covers point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific aesthetic or non-health-related contaminants (chlorine, taste and odor, and particulates) that may be present in public or private drinking water.

NSF/ANSI Standard 53: Drinking Water Treatment Units Health Effects

Overview: Standard 53 addresses point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water.

I almost bought the Brita brand filter again after reading about all the people experiencing leak problems, but I couldn't resist the savings. I've used the original GE MWF filter in my GE fridge, then switched to the Brita brand and have replaced several of those. I just recently found the WaterSentinal brand and it's about a third of the cost of the Brita. I went to install it in my fridge and like many others my fridge just sprayed water everywhere. It screwed in all the way like it was supposed to, but wouldn't stay sealed. When I opened the box I noticed another o-ring in there with a note that stated if it leaked then use this o-ring, so I quickly swapped out the o-ring and I was in business. I ran it for 5 minutes as they say to clear all the crud out, and I'm pleased to say that this filter works just as well as either the GE or Brita filter ever did. The flow is also noticeably faster too. Water and ice from this filter tastes the same, and I saved a bunch of cash! I'll be buying again for sure.

Installation was a cinch. Does what it claims. Cheaper than the GE filter. However, I think it's overpriced for what it is, but I guess they tailor their $ to GE's cost which is just ridiculous.

I purchased this for my GE refrig and it does NOT work properly. No matter how many times I tried to install it, it continuously sprays water inside the refrigerator. I will say, however that the Water Sentinel is a good company and admitted that they have had more than one complaint about it not working on some GEs. They are sending out a new one that "should work" at no cost to me even though I didn't order directly from them. So -just be aware that you may get one that is defective or just not compatible.

If you are considering to purchase the Water Sentinel WSG-1 as a OEM replacement filter for the GE-MWF, be aware of the hidden-fact that, although the (WSG-1) housing cartridge has been designed to fit your GE Refrigerator, the flaw with the (WSG-1) is the small 'constricted-size' of the water port that was designed for water to flow through this filter. The water port on the GE MWF is about 1/2" in diameter which is sufficient in size to allow water to pass through the filter freely & unrestricted.

When I removed the packaging and plastic water port cap seal from the (WSG-1) I discovered that the water-port-hole designed for this filter was not even 1/4" in diameter (less than half of the GE-MWF) and extremely small in comparison to the water-port-diameter of the GE-MWF.

In conclusion, the engineers that designed the GE-MWF obviously decided that a minimum water-port-size of 1/2" was needed for this filter to function properly. In my opinion, whoever designed engineered the Water Sentinel (WSG-1) filter cartridge to replace the GE-MWF, clearly 'shorted-sighted' the OEM guidelines for the diameter of the GW-MWF water-port, and in that regard is the reason why I returned the Water Sentinel WSG-1 to Amazon for a refund.

Unfortunately for the consumer, Brita & Aguafresh have discontinued production of their GE-MWF replacement filters, which consequently has given GE an outrageously ($ high-priced $) monopoly on their replacement filters for their GE Refrigerators.

Activated Carbon is cheap, and so is the plastic filter housing unit. Realistically, this filter could be sold for about the same price as an oil filter for your car and still return a profit. The GE in this case...'G' is for Greed, and 'E' is for the Economic consumer shaft perpetrated by the multinational corporations.
