Wine Enthusiast Silent 12 Bottle 2-Temp Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator

Wine Enthusiast Silent 12 Bottle 2-Temp Touchscreen Wine Refrigerator
  • Dual Zone for Reds & Whites
  • Silent Cooling Technology
  • Temperature range: 45-65F
  • Touchscreen controls
  • 12 Bottle Capacity

I bought this unit in early January. It arrived quickly and looks great. After six months the left side no longer cools. Two emails and one voice mail to Wine Enthusiast have gone completely unanswered. Save yourself the time and money. Buy a more expensive unit that will last longer, or if it breaks someone at the company will care!

Purchased one of these wine refrigerators on October 1st on 2012. It was shipped to us and we set it up, turned it on and it seemed to work fine. We went on vacation end of December and came home to find that zone 1 which was set to 56 degrees had gone up to 70 degrees and zone 2 which was set to 64 degrees was now at 68 degrees. Neither zone would go to the set level. Went on line to Amazon and their return policy was one month. THE MANUFACTURER WON'T HONOR the warranty when sold by a third party, so basically we could have flushed the $190.00 that we paid for this product down the toilet and been just as well off as we are today. AS THE HEADLINE SAYS.... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!! As a matter of fact, I will in the future boycott all products from Wine Enthusiast!!!

This thing is bigger than you might think--being just a 12 bottle unit. It is also heavy, so moving it around isn't easy. It is well packed but that makes the box bulky--hard to handle by yourself. My unit started working fine, then went through a week of throwing display fits--lighting up all elements. Had to guess at temperature settings. It also would periodically BEEP for no good reason, sometimes sounding like the roadrunner. However, after a week or so of that, it has returned to normal operation. Having discarded the carton and considering the hassle, I would not have sent it back regardless (and it has always cooled). Oh--it is also not quite as 'silent' as described--at least not if you are sitting anywhere near. I ended up moving it away from my living areas.

I bought this because it was exactly the size I wanted and it had a dual zone temp control. However, if I put more than two bottles in one side, it won't cool lower than 56 degrees on that side, no matter how long I leave it closed. I am going to return it.

I bought this at the end of last summer because it fit perfectly on a counter space below another shelf in my kitchen, and the price was great. Looks elegant and runs pretty quietly. Sometimes the temperature dial stops responding, but I've found unplugging and resetting the unit can get that back. However, after about 7 months the right side stopped cooling, so I now only have a 6 bottle cooler :(

I'd suggest spending more for a better quality unit (I wish I had.)

  • Samsung - RF267AEPN

I bought this fridge (SAMSUNG RF267AEPN) one month ago and the temperature stays in 53-55| called customer service and they were supposed to send a tech on Thu (5/10) or Fri, today is Monday and still no one has showed up. Already tried every single suggestion in the troubleshooting tips and none worked out. I had to contact the local service directly because at the 800 number they told me the same history : we will send a tech within 24-48hrs. How come a brand new refrigerator is not cooling? How come customer service don''t pay attention to us, the clients? We have had to throw away milk, deli, fruits and vegetables because this appliance just DOESN'T cool! How long do I still have to wait for a tech to fix my refrigerator?

VERY DISAPPOINTING

Cons: Did not meet expectations, doesn't cool at all

Maytag MBF2258XEB 21.9 Cu. Ft. Black Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Energy Star

Maytag MBF2258XEB 21.9 Cu. Ft. Black Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • 5 Adjustable Spill-Catcher Glass Shelves
  • Ice Maker
  • Glide-Out Freezer Drawer
  • Energy Star Qualified
  • Electronic Temperature Controls

Did a lot of research on refrigerators before purchasing this item. Settled on a maytag because I heard bad things about the samsungs, and I figured Maytag has been making friges for a lot longer. From day 1, I have had problems. As soon as it arrived and I plugged it in, it started icing up the fridge part, even on the factory middle of the road settings. I called Maytag and they suggested I turn it down, so I did, then the freezer wasn't cold enough, so I turned it back up, and somehow that fixed the ice problem. Whatever. Then, 2.5 months into ownership, it quit cooling altogether, ruining all my food, and causing frozen dough to rise and make a mess in my freezer. Called Maytag and they sent out a serviceman, conveniently between the hours of 8 and 5. Turned out to be a relay, which of course they had to order and told me they would be out between the same convenient hours of 8 to 5 just to install it. If I did it myself, I was told it would void the warranty. It seems like nothing these days is quality, and everything is nothing more than imported foreign crap. Oh and another thing, whatever water pump this fridge uses to make ice has got to be the loudest one they could find. Its absurd that they think this is acceptable. Won't be buying another Maytag, Whirlpool, Amana, or whatever other junk they slap their various brands on.

I purchased this for use in my office. It was light enough so I could carry it from the parking lot to my office (about 50 yards). I purchased a thermometer to ensure the temperature is cold enough for my yogurt and juice. So far the fridge has performed as advertised. Good compact unit!

LG LFX25976SW 24.7 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - White

LG LFX25976SW 24.7 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - WhiteI bought this LG french door refrigerator (with ice & water in the door) in July of 2008. It's design (especially coveted the ice/water shelf for pichers) and energy star standing coupled with price (not bought at Amazon) led to choosing LG. Immediately the ice dispenser began jamming, a regular occurrence onward. I experimented with different size cubes but that had no impact on the jamming. We use the ice dispenser multiple times daily. It soon was clear to me the failing was a design fault not a mechanical failure. We previouly had for 19 years an in the door dispenser that had never once failed-it was an auger type that occupied the top left shelf in the refrigerator. The LG is totally in the door and basically relies on gravity to feed the ice. A few months later we got notice that the Energy Star rating did not apply to this refrigerator after all. LG offered a repair or monthly check up to a total of $170. I wrote back that since they had miss represented the refrigerator and the Energy Star rating was a major factor in my purchase choice I wanted the refrigerator replaced. I never heard back from them. After about 2 years of use the temperature control became erratic. Faced with a joice of repair or replace (and really frustrated with the ice dispenser and their refusal to respond to my request for a replacement refrigerator) I choose to replace the LG. As of last Friday, I own a similar Samsung refrigerator (although is is 4 cubic feet larger inside thru design efficiencies). After realizing LG was not going to respond to my request, I began purging LG possesions. I first got rid of my LG cell phone, replacing it with a Motorola. Next will be my LG Blue Ray player.

Ice dispenser jammed most of the time , especially after we used the " crush " feature then switch to " cube" .

The icemaker isself is a bad design . The motor actually turn and twist the ice tray to release ice ( not like the other model which heat up the tray to release ice ). After so many twist and turn, the wire harness which connect to the temp sensor underneath the ice tray broke internally rending the icemaker inop .

If you live in the region with hard water ( Ft Myers, FL as an example ) then the calcification with stick to the ice tray which ,in turn, to cause at least half the amount of ice cubes stick to the tray ,only half of them drop down to the ice bin. This also cause the icemaker mechanism to go bad when its motor try too hard to twist the tray ... end up stripping the gear inside . Within 2 1/2 years ... I had to replace the icemaker twice

Ice bin too small, not enough ice for family of 4 in a hot summer days unless you empty the ice into a bucket which locate in freezer compartment. I'll never recommend this model to anyone

Bought this frig 1 1/2 years ago. It was during the time LG was selling them for around $1300.00 at Home Depot.Retail was $2400.00 We have only

used this frig for about 5 months because it is used in a cottage we shut down during the winter. The best thinf about the frig is it's looks.

The frig temperature runs about 5 degrees

warmer than the readout states. Chilled water isn't cold enough. When you try and get ice, the auger runs but it takes up to a minute to fill a glass with ice.And now the icemaker quit making ice altogether. Nothing. Not a single cube.We use this frig mostly on weekends. It gets very little use.We are very disappionted with this frig and LG won't be a choice when buying future products.

I like the spacious room that this refrigerator has which is why I gave it 3 stars. I read the previous review about the ice maker and couldn't agree more. The ice maker dispenser doesn't dispense properly. We are constantly unjamming the ice every time it's needed. The water dispenser doesn't dispense cold water, just cool, which is why we need to add ice. LG needs to completely re-design their ice dispenser unit. This one is terrible.

I bought this fridge the same time I purchased GE Profile dishwasher, gas range and microwave. LOVE my other appliances, but this fridge has an exterior surface that is impossible to clean and shine. No matter what I've tried (Stainless cleaners, all purpose cleaners, window cleaners, soapy water, etc), nothing removes the ugly streaks! It's only 1 year old and looks terrible, while my GE appliances look as beautiful as they did the day I bought them! By the way, no children in my house. This CAME with the streaks and Tthey are not removable!

SquareTrade 3-Year Appliance Protection Plan ($350-400)

SquareTrade 3-Year Appliance Protection PlanSquareTrade sent a tech out to examine a problem with my scanner/printer. He told me to use different paper and left. Now I have a similar problem, and they say I can't have a tech come because my last "repair" exceeded what they are willing to pay apparently the tech charged $140 for his diagnosis. When I complained, they gave me the service center version of "too bad" and sent me on my way.

This means that according to SquareTrade, any tech can come and charge pretty much anything, and that charge will unquestioningly be deducted from their budget for your item. If they hire bad techs, you get penalized for it; if the problem recurs, well... tough.

If you decide to purchase this, know at least that the value of the warrantee is potentially very limited it might be worth a replacement machine or a timely repair, but it might also be worth no more than one unproductive tech visit.

I bought this service for the Omega vert 350 HD juicer. It is a very good price for a product that runs $350-$400. I recently had to use it to replace the filter and it was really easy to use, the customer service and response time was very good. I would strongly recommend this service for anybody buying anything that is very expensive.

GE JP328WKWW 30" White Electric Coil Cooktop

GE JP328WKWW 30' White Electric Coil Cooktop
  • Removable One-Piece Drip Bowls
  • Upfront Controls

I love this cooktop because I don't have to clean the burnt marks like on ceramic top stove. But it has three faults. 1. Entire top area becomes super hot (can not touch with fingers). 2. On indicaor light is dim so it does not alert the stove is on. 3. Heating coil temperature is lower than my ceramic cook top so it takes longer to heat up. But in spite of these draw backs it rates higher than the ceramic cook top that needed constant scrubbing to keep clean.

Filter does what it's supposed to do. Lasts about six months in my refrigerator. Easy to replace. Just turn 1/4 to remove the old one, put the new one in, and turn it 1/4 to tighten.

Want Black & Decker 1.7 cubic foot Dorm Refrigerator Discount?

I purchased this refrigerator a year ago and the unit has stopped working. These are really cheap units and are not worth the money. The name says Black & Decker so you would think it is a good product, the problem is this is made in China by Haier and it is poorly maid. The warrantee is for one year because it only last one year. Read the reviews over at Wal-Mart and you will see most of the folks have had them fail after one year. Pure junk!

Does not have a compressor like a traditional mini fridge. It does not cool as well either. The coldest I can get mine down to is about 50 degrees on the coldest setting. After about a year mine completely quit working. I was able to fix it by taking off the back and cleaning an oiling the little fan that had stopped turning. After reading other reviews it seem everyone has the same problem. I would not buy one of these. Get a traditional mini fridge with a compressor. They get colder and last longer.

Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC

Avanti AC/DC Superconductor Refrigerator, Model# SHP1712SDC
  • Features full-range temperature control, soft interior light with on/off switch and auto defrost
  • Tall bottle rack on door holds a 2-liter bottle
  • Adjustable, removable shelf
  • Stainless steel door has reversible swing
  • Includes 5-ft. AC power cord and 6-ft. DC power cord

The fridge arrived with several large dents as other reviewers have mentioned they only include 1/4 inch of Styrofoam for packaging. It also would not turn on... upon further inspection I could see the internal AC hot and common connections were disconnected so I opened it up and plugged those back in.

I put a remote temperature sensor in the fridge and let it cool to 32 degrees (cold as it will get on high) then put a 20 oz pop bottle in that was full of 80F degree water. It took 3 hours to cool to below 40 degrees and it actually warmed the air temp of the fridge up to 42 at one point. If you put a lot of room temp stuff in there I imagine it would take at least 24 hours to cool it all.

Pros:

-Lightweight (really easy to move it only weighs like 23 pounds)

-Efficient (pulls less than 100 watts and keeps stuff cold)

-AD/DC modes is nice

-No moving parts except for heatsink fan and coldsink fan.

-Lots of space, due to the lightweight frame/insulation and lack of compressor what you see is practically what you get.

Cons:

-Lightweight (don't drop it or you'll definitely add to the dents from shipping, also the insulation can't be that great at that thickness)

-Not very powerful, it will take quite a while to cool things down and cannot handle high air temps or direct sunlight.

-As other reviewers have mentioned you can count on it being damaged in shipping. Ours arrived with one of the back corners crushed and a couple good sized dents in the rear panel. It also had apparently jostled loose the internal AC connections.

-Made in china, and it feels like it too.

Summary: It works pretty well for its intended purpose and although it feels cheap and likely to breakdown luckily there really isn't that much that is likely to break since there is no compressor and the only moving parts are two small fans. If you can't accept cosmetic damage from shipping definitely don't bother. I intend to run it on DC to store products at a farmers market, I'll update the review if it craps out on me.

Update 7/6/2011: It's starting to get rather warm here in southern Idaho and the fridge has a hard time keeping up with air temperatures at/over 80s. As expected you certainly have to be careful to keep it out of direct sunlight or it'll turn into an easy bake oven. Somewhat disappointing because I intended to use it outdoors but if you're using it somewhere that is shaded and climate controlled you'll be fine.

I have used this fridge once in my new custom goat trailer with living quarters. Worked very well on DC power in the trailer and AC in the house for a test run. My only complaint is that the product was dented when shipped. We determined the dents would not effect operation and therefore not worth sending back to manufacturer. The unit runs fine, just the housing was dinged.

I bought this refrigerator with the Idea I would use it in a grid collapse for my insulin. I have solar panels and big batteries. If you are looking for a refrigerator for your insulin, don't buy this one it will quit on you, then you can wait two days and it will start working again after you unplugged it. It is a good party refrigerator used intermittently but it is not reliable temperature control. Buy a small unit with a compressor instead of this for medication temperature control.

after reading the online info, I was excited to give this fridge a go in my small RV. It arrived with no dents or dings from shipping and looked great. Plugged it into the wall and worked great to cool off for a few days before moving it to the RV. When I tried to run it off DC, I got nothing. No power. I tried it with several different vehicles/batteries, but no power (despite reading power through the cord with a volt-meter). Called Avanti and they sent me a replacement fridge quickly--cool! Unfortunately the new one wouldn't run on DC either. I called Avanti again. They send out a new cord. Success! It worked for about a week before dying...no DC again. I'm in the middle of a refund request with amazon's seller.

I think that this is a great fridge for those who want to run it on AC power. Maybe I just had bad luck with DC, but it seems odd that 2 units and 3 cords have all failed now (under 4 months from my original purchase). Even during the week it worked on DC, it drew 7 amps regularly, and ran for most of the day, which is a lot for most RV batteries. I'm not impressed for RV use.

I learned this only after spending about an hour on hold with them...Amazon shares some of the blame for including this in the suggestion algorithm for a re-conditioned item but still could have prevented a ton of wasted time and frustration if Squaretrade would have made their add clearer.
