This is the worst refrigerator I've ever purchased -and it's all because of the icemaker. It's been repaired 7 times in the last 2 years thanks to having purchased an extended warranty. Predictably every 6 months, the icemaker stops functioning. There's a piece that jams. The repairmen are at a loss. I give up -this weekend, I'm headed to my appliance shop and buying something different. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk.

This model is similar to one we purchased two years ago. We had problems with water leaking from the door from the start, but an independant repairman was able to fix that with teflon tape. Maytag told us to just flush the system again and again. Now the fridge runs, but does not cool. The repairman says it will be $700 to fix, but that no Maytag is worth that. He says it will be nothing but trouble and we're better off buying a Kitchenaide and accepting our losses. Over 2000 down the tubes! But at least were free of the repair bills.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in July of 2012. It quit working in October. Maytag repairman did not have the replacement compressor that was needed. Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 10 days later. That refrigerator worked until the beginning of May 2013 (7 months later). Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 7 days later. We contacted Maytag after we received the new refrigerator and they were not willing to send us any compensation for aggravation or loss of food. Their customer service to say the least is non-responsive. We will never buy another Maytag refrigerator and we tell everyone we know not buy a Maytag refrigerator. Maytag had to know these refrigerators were defective and they should have recalled them. Home Depot Appliance manager told us there were multiple customers who had issues with these refrigerators.

There are many manufactures of appliances and our advice would be not to buy maytag!

Other than the size of the ice maker on the interior, this is a wonderful fridge! Quiet, plenty of interior adjustment, the freezer has remarkable space. Works well for a family of 4, and we do alot of cooking! I did find the beverage chiller took up space, but ordered two shelves for 10 bucks and have twice the door space! Love it!

Few days back I ordered this product; and it was delivered in 3-4days. The installation was super easy with the given instructions. Planning to order the same in few months again!!

The only reason I am not giving 5/5 is due to missing instructions for turning off "Change Filter" light; I found these instructions on some blog. For MayTag refrigerator, the light can be turned off by holding "Light"+"Lock" pads on the door until the "Change Filter" light blinks (approx 4-5 seconds).

My original filter was a UKF7002 and locked with a click when in place. This is the replacement UKF7003 and while it does fit and seems to have no leaks it does not lock in place when inserted.

This filer seems to work fine. I think I noticed the water had a bit of different taste, but it could very well have been my imagination.

This filter is a bit smaller than the original Maytag filter and smaller than the Brita filter I ordered through amazon.com last year. These were both 1 year filters and I am a bit disappointed that this is rater for 6 months.

I paid about $25.00 for the Brita a year ago and now see it is $38.00. Is there a water filter shortage I am not aware of?

Anyway, look at the Brita MYRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement Filter filter for a few dollars more and rated to last a year.

When buying this type of appliance, you expect at least to be operative right out the box. Oh well, I got delivered a unit that had the compressor for the refrigerator non working, so I have not been able to enjoy the unit. I would have believed that the right thing to do is to deliver another new unit in working condition; but not, Thermador says that they have to fix it in the house. That means replacing the compressor and cutting into the line that is sealed from factory. Way to go Thermador;nice way to treat your customers after spending $6,000+ in those units. If you are considering Thermador refrigerators, please buy Sub Zero at the same price; I have not heard of any complains on customer service issues.

This was the perfect refrigerator fit for our kitchen. But after 18 months the refrigerator section stopped working. It took two weeks to get the condenser replaced. Thermador has very poor customer service. I waited a week for their repairman to come out since it is has a 2 year warranty. The man took one look at it and said I needed to call a local repair company in Dallas. So that took another week to get the part and get it working. I also ordered the charcoal filter and ice maker filter from Thermador. They sent some random and incorrect parts like a water inlet??? I have spent almost a month trying to get them to take those parts back without charging me a restock fee or shipping. I can get them on the phone but it's like the Keystone Cops over there. The unit is working now but I don't have a lot of confidence.

The outfit who eventually repaired the unit said it's full of Chinese parts, as are all refrigerators now and basically "they don't make 'em like they used to". I guess I would feel differently about that if I spent $2,000 on the unit versus $8,000.

The only good thing I can say about it is that the size is nice; it is really attractive and it had the french doors, which we needed to fit in our kitchen vs. the subzero which wasn't available.

Whirlpool 4396710P KitchenAid PUR Push Button Cyst-Reducing, Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter

I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore, this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up. I thought it might be based on actual usage, but it's not, because it went red at exactly 6 months and I use far less water than most other households. I have no idea why more time would harm a filter, as far as I'm concerned it's just a marketing tactic to get you to buy them more often then needed, like oil changes every 3,000 miles.

This filter fits my Kenmore Elite side by side which takes the Sears 9030 filter and at almost half the price. The only difference in this filter is it does not say Stage II or Kenmore. The water tastes exactly the same to me as when I used the Sears brand and I am very aware of the water taste since we have hard, extremely chlorinated water in my area. I wish I had found these filters 4 Sears brand filters ago ... serious $$$ savings!

I bought my whirlpool refrigerator from sears in 2006. Sears sent me a reminder through mail that I need to replace my filter. I almost ordered the part through the sears.com website because this particular filter was not available through the sears store or through their parts center. I went to the sears.com website and their price was $60.59($44.98part+ $4.62tax+$10.99shipping). Then I thought about checking amazon.com to see if this filter was available, and it was, for a much lower cost to me. My total was $41.98($34.99part+$6.99shipping). I ordered the filter on May30 and received it through usps on June2. Replacing the filter was easy just pop out the old one, transfer the filter cap from the old filter to the new one, and pop the new filter assembly back in. The old filter was dripping water, so I took it over to the sink to shake out the water and out came some rust colored water and small pieces of debris which would have been in my drinking water if it had not been filtered out by the filter. So it is a good idea to replace the filter on a regular basis.

Some interesting Facts not all know: Why to change your filter...

Eventually the AC filter (Active Carbon) loses its ability to remove contaminants, because it becomes clogged with material. In the case of taste and odor, the time to change the filter is easy to detect. However, in the case of other contaminants, it is more difficult to determine when the filter is no longer performing at an adequate level. Most manufacturers recommend a filter change after a certain volume of water has passed through the filter. Some AC units actually meter the water and automatically shut down after a specific quantity of water has passed through the filter. A general rule of thumb for high-volume AC filters is to change the filter after six months of use or 1000 gallons of filtered water. Tests done by Rodale Press Product Testing Department indicated that filtering performance was reduced dramatically after 75 percent of the manufacturer's recommended life time. These results suggest that filters should be changed more often than suggested by the manufacturer. Some AC filters are claimed to last for five years, because they are rechargeable with hot water (145 degrees F). The heat is supposed to release adsorbed organic chemicals. Little information is available on the prolonged effectiveness of rechargeable AC units. General recommendations are somewhat useful quidelines, but there is no guarantee that they apply to any specific situation. Remember, the only certain way of knowing whether contaminant levels are acceptable or not is by having your water tested.

A sediment filter installed ahead of any AC filter will prolong the life of the AC unit. Sediment can easily clog the pores of an AC filter within a short period of time. A good sediment filter can be purchased for only a fraction of the price of most high volume AC filters.

The Bacteria Issue

AC filters can be a breeding ground for microorganisms. The organic chemicals that are adsorbed to the AC are a source of food for various types of bacteria. Pathogenic bacteria are those that cause human diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. Public water systems must treat for disease causing bacteria; therefore, the likelihood of disease causing bacteria being introduced to an AC filter from public drinking water is remote. AC filtration should only be used on water that has been tested and found to be bacteria free or effectively treated for pathogenic bacteria.

Other types of non-pathogenic bacteria that do not cause diseases have been regularly found in AC filters. There are times when high amounts of bacteria (non-pathogenic) are found in water filtered through an AC unit. Research by R. L. Caldron and E. W. Mood (1987) shows little risk to healthy people that consume high amounts of non-pathogenic bacteria. We regularly take in millions of bacteria every day from other sources. However, there is some concern for certain segments of the population, such as the very young or old and people weakened by illness. Some types of non-pathogenic bacteria can cause illness in those whose natural defenses are weak. Flushing out bacteria that have built up in the filter can be accomplished by running water through an AC filter for about 30 seconds prior to use. Water filtered after the initial flushing will have much lower levels of bacteria and ingestion of a high concentration of bacteria will have been avoided. The flushing procedure is most important in the morning or any other time of the day when the filter has not been used for several hours.

Some compounds of silver have been used as disinfectants. Silver has been added to certain AC filters as a solution to the bacteria problem. Unfortunately, product testing has not shown silver impregnated AC to be much more effective in controlling bacteria than normal AC filters. Only in the first month of operation did there appear to be any advantage to using an AC filter that contained silver.

EPA requires registration of all types of water treatment equipment that contain an active ingredient for the purpose of inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. Registration does not guarantee that the product is effective. It only guarantees that the active ingredient will not leach from the filter at levels that would be a health hazard.

LG WT5001CW 4.5 cu. Ft. Top Load Washer - White

I'm very impressed with this washer.

I previously owned a sears kenmore was a nice machine, it lasted 10 years before the electonics in it burnt up. It too was an aggitatorless model, high efficency type. Ten years ago this was one of the first of this type.

So when shopping for a new model I wanted to stick with a top load, aggitatorless, high efficency type. I was very impressed with a LG Blu-ray player I had bought, so keeping those features and the LG brand in mind I looked at thier models first.

This model had the features I wanted so I didn't even consider any other brands.

Installation was easy since I previously had hookups all in place. I didn't read much of the book. The quick install sheet mentions leveling and it was easy to see it was level. All you have to do is make sure the tub lines up with the opening. After hooking up the hoses and putting the drain hose in the drain tube, checking for levelness you're ready to go.

Before putting it in its final position close to the wall, I did one load of laundry to be sure there were no leaks from any hose or the drain. Then I moved it into it's final spot.

I gave it a good workout as I had four weeks of dirty clothing piled up, plus bed sheets and a new quilt I wanted to wash before first use. It was easy to figure out what buttons to push and get going. I only looked at the book to see what a red light was and that turned out to be the lid locked indicator. I did the first load normal and then some of the remaining loads using the cold wash only. The large capacity I might have been able to do fewer loads but I didn't want to overload it and wanted to test it out good first time around. All came out, as best I can tell perfect.

First it does laod sensing. I guess this determines how heavy the load is so it can adjust how much water to use.

It even locks the lid while in operation.

The lid is glass so you can watch your clothing spin around or it spray water on them.

There's a bunch of other buttons to modiy water temp, soil level and custom settings. But it is basically really simple and quick to get going.

The tub will lower during washing, so it won't hit the inside of the top area while spinning. It raises back up when finihsed.

A nice digital display tells you how much time is left and a set of lights tell you what cycle it is on.

At the end it plays a nice little happy tune, instead of that usual beep-beep-beep.

Features I liked or we're impressed with:

The the dial. It gives it an old time feel. Somehow just pushing buttons doesn't always seem right. The knob gives you tacticle feeling but instead of a rotating needle, it has lights that go on or off as you rotate past each setting.

The location of the detergent/softener try seems to be well placed, i think too it runs water through this so it gets all the detergent and softener out and keeps it clean.

Being able to see it work on the inside.

Cute music at end.

Without the aggitator this gives you room for large items. I enjoyed this on my other washer. Washing quilts or blankets is easy and it does a good job on this too.

It is mostly very quiet. With the direct drive motor I guess because of less moving parts. It will whine some during the final spin cycle especially when it slows down, but for the most part I could not hear much when it was running and my wash closet is in the master bathroom, so its not far away. I didn't hear any of that thump-thump you sometimes get even when doing a bulky item or large load. Even the last spin cycle the outside of the machine doesn't shake that much.

Plenty of tub space to wash bulky items.

Drawbacks

Hadn't found any yet really. I'm sure the glass is heavy duty and won't break easily, it might scratch. I live at the beach and sand gets on everything. This will scratch glass easily if you put something down on top of the glass and a grit is between the two. But being able to see the machine at work is worth that.

One final note:

I'm not sure what burnt up my old washers' electronics. It might have been old age or it might have been a power surge or lightening. I'm guess i'm lucky I got ten years out of it. So for this one I bought a twenty buck surge supressor to put on the wall socket and plugged the washer into to it. With everything now having a lot of electronics in it and it being a high ticket item, i think a little extra protection won't hurt.

My wife and I had recently bought the LG WT5001CW, and I can honestly sit here and tell you that it is all that and a bag of chips! I read all of the reviews till I was blue in the face. I got on the Lowes site which I found contained fabricated reviews which was a real bummer. They used the same phrases over and over again but in different order.

Anyhoo, after listening to a bunch of HE nightmares and doing bookoo research and a few retarded salesmen later... Apparently there is no such thing as a good side loading HE washing machine. They all let off a mildew odor or do not wash good enough. Look at all the sites, Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy, ABC Warehouse, Amazon, all the sideloading washing machines don't get any better than 3 stars max! So the decision was for a top loader. Now what brand do you get? Back to the reviews and that retarded salesmen!

According to the reviews on those websites I mentioned, Maytag & Whirlpool ranked down at the bottom of the gene pool. Whirlpool kind of shocked me because that was always one of my fav's. I went to Lowes and talked to thier appliance salesmen who just returned from a Whirlpool seminar and now believes that he is infoulable by god. He informed me that Whirlpool sideloader was the most perfect machine on earth and nothing else compares. When I ask why, it was because he came from a seminar. Wrong answer!

So I looked at Amazon & Best Buy and I noticed the LG and looked into it. Amazon only had about 4 or 5 reviews at the moment but they averaged 5 stars and Best Buy had 29 reviews averaging 4.5 stars which isn't to shabby. We are not wealthy so I need bang for my buck! what can I say? Now the price on Amazon looked pretty appealing but the $150.00 for shipping didn't! This is where Home Depot comes in.

I went to Home Depot who not only matched Best Buy's sale ad but also took off an additional 10% plus free delivery. In the end I picked up in the upper 7's and no shipping fee which was about 200 plus cheaper than I was expecting worse case.

As for performance, well I read the 2 star review with the guy complaining about scratches. Who gives a turkey?!?! A scratched machine will wash your clothes just as well! Anyhoo, I am a maintenance man in a press shop. Everyday I get covered head to toe in grease and oil and all kinds of nasty! This machine cleans just as well if not better than my old Whirlpool and it uses almost half the water! Any HE Machine that can clean my uniform like that is good in my book!

This thing weighs your clothes and adds water in accordance to the weight. Then it automatically flushes water through the detergent tray. After that it dances around for a minute, I think its doing the twist! Then it spins one way and then the other the whole while it is recirculating the existing water that it originally started with. I found it so entertaining at first I had to ditch my big screen for the washing machine! And the dam thing has a window, so you gotta watch.

But I do have to add that if you have the old style washing machine, you basically have to throw out everything you know about washing the laundry and relearn how to do it in HE. Follow the instructions and there will be no problems! All I can say is, ya gotta try this thing, you'll love it!

What kind (front or top load) and what brand of washer to buy? After spending about $5,500 on two top loaders (GE and LG) and two front loaders ( Frigidaire and Samsung) over the last six years, I believe I am qualified to make some assertions. The tests that Consumer Reports does on washers are nothing more than pre-arranged outcome studies, designed to push sales of Department of Energy approved washers. This is not entirely bad, as everyone wants to save money and help the environment. In fairness, Consumer Reports does a valuable service, but for some products, the tests are creatively constructed to achieve an objective, which in this case, is pushing front load washing machines.

My first washer was a very old GE top loader. It used a substantial amount of water and power, but served admirably. The next unit was a Frigidaire front loader that was quite efficient, but did not wash clothes as well as the GE top loader it replaced. The Frigidaire suffered a catastophic failure, which was not due to any fault of the machine, but rather, operator error, in that it was badly overloaded. The machine did do well considering the small amount of power and water it used.

This then was replaced by a Samsung front loader that was quiet, efficient, well thought out, user friendly, had very low vibration, but did not wash clothes very well. This machine smelled bad, despite following the manufacturers directions, though that did help somewhat. The smell is pretty much a fact of life for any front load washer, but the manual does tell how to reduce it. This machine used very little water and scant power considering it's capacity, but like I said, it did not wash clothes that well. A year and a half after purchase, it stopped draining. I am mechanically inclined, so I cleaned the trap on the lower front of the machine, but this did not help. The pump was still working (I could hear it) so I opened up the back and checked the hoses for clogs. This led to a messy and RIDICULOUSLY DIFFICULT operation, but the clog was cleared, and the machine worked again, though I am not sure if the pump is working 100%. The trap was not very dirty, and I am careful to check clothing before washing. I cut myself badly in working on this (I feel for the repairmen out there) and I was so disappointed in what happened, that I went out and bought an LG top loader (after MUCH research.) This unit has a huge capacity, and though it does use more water (a little more) and more power (a little more,) it is an Energy Star appliance. It uses just enough water to do what it was purchased to do, and the difference in the wash quality is OBVIOUS. Ohh, but this is not the approved front loader design being pushed on us. Well, to put it another way, I can wash TWO king size comforters in this thing IN ONE LOAD, and they come out CLEAN, whereas my previous front loader (less capacity) required two loads to do the same two comforters, which came out not nearly as clean! It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that I will be spending LESS time and money doing one big load in this machine, than doing two smaller loads in the previous machine. I'm NOT interested in wasting water and electricity, I AM interested in a washing machine that cleans clothes. This machine is the one for me -I'm happy.

The Samsung front loader would have been great if the drain pump system were better, and if it used a proper amount of water, but it does not. If you do some research (as I did) you will find that there are a multitude of other people out there, that are fed up with washing machines that wash poorly, AND cost a fortune. Admittedly, time will tell if the LG durability and reliability are as good as I expect they will be. There are those that would say that I do not know what I am talking about, but then, I believe I earned the right to say that I do. My mother (a laundry expert) would agree! Make a wise choice.

Purchased the LG WT5001CW because of its load capacity, washing features and had a falling apart with my 8 year old Kenmore front loading machine (smell and several pump breakdown problems...tired of calling the repairman and taking apart my appliance on my Friday nights). With the LG, I've been very happy with most of the washing options. Unfortunately, there is no delicate cycle. I thought I could just use the "wool cycle" and use the "low spin" to get delicate wash results. WRONG. Apparently, this washer loves to spin, and spin at very high rpms! I have found little difference between extra high, high, med and low spin (even no spin will spin your clothes during the wash cycle. It only omits spinning at the very end).

While my clothes are coming out very clean, I'm very worried about how long they will last. I'm frightened to wash sweaters or anything that I really value and can't replace. It aggressively washes towels, tshirts, jeans just great. But, on more delicate fabrics and sweaters it is just as aggressive in its washing and will spin them into infinity. I'm hoping this is a flaw to my machine and that a repairman might be able to adjust this. But how sad to have to call a repairman on a brand new machine. Unacceptable!

Great load capacity, water levels are great, soap dispensing and fabric softner dispenses as it should, hot water isn't really "hot" just warm, clothes are clean and almost dry when cycles are done, does wrinkle them a bit, fairly quiet (it's no mouse, our front loader was quieter but for a top loader, this machine is easier on the ears and noise level in the home than most), it's pretty to look at, has a charming beep/song when done. My children love to watch it wash and are hoping I will resort to hand washing my delicate items in the bathtub so they can keep the beautiful, space spinner.

I love the top loader...but LG, why can't I have a top loader with it all? I wanted this machine to be the one I told my friends and family I couldn't live without. If someone has found such a top loader, please share so I can return this "not quite" and finish my ever growing piles of laundry.

P.S. I have been trying to contact costumer support with questions about this washer, with no luck. Can't seem to get them by email. When I call, I can usually get a live person to take my name and number and then I am put on hold for an hour and 20 minutes with no response. They haven't even called me back either. With no costumer service, I guess I'll just count myself lucky that I purchased this washer from a store with a 30 day return policy. Back to the store and washer buying.

We've had no issues whatsoever with damaging the laundry as I saw in some other reviews. The washer moves those big things around in there and cleans 'em all over. (Yep, I pretty much watched the first couple of washes all the way through to see how a washer without an agitator works...I'm weird that way) The washer does spin really fast, but this helps everything get cleaner and dry faster. If you have delicate clothes, there are settings for that and they work as expected. I recommend putting your laundry in the dryer soon after it is done washing to help prevent wrinkles, but this is no different than any other washer I have used (Top quality Whirlpool, Roper, and Maytags in the past).

My review of Price Pros:

1. Shipping was DAYS late and they did not unpack or place the unit (as was done with the dryer we ordered at the same time from another company).

2. We think they shipped bad product on purpose.

3. They made ZERO effort to make their problems right.

We had just moved to a rural area where we really needed it on time. There was cosmetic damage to the unit, but NOTHING wrong with the packaging. When I contacted Price Pros about this, they asked for pictures of the packaging (so THEY could make a claim to the shipping company). I did not have pictures for them, because the packaging was not in any way damaged (yes, I was there for the delivery and did inspect it thoroughly) and you obviously have to take the packaging off to get at the washer. They made no attempt whatsoever to make the problem right for us. We decided to keep the washer, instead of returning it, because by the time we got it, we needed it vey badly and the damage was only cosmetic. Hopefully others can learn from our mistake in buying from Price Pros Don't do it!

I adore this dishwasher! Is it weird to love an appliance so much? I bought this along with the Cafe range and microwave. It's beautiful, sleek and modern and looks great in my kitchen. The controls are on the top of the door and are very easy to understand. One of the greatest things about this dishwasher is I can fill it up with an entire container of detergent! It gives a little warning light on the control panel when the detergent starts getting low. Super convenient!

This is also the quietest dishwasher I've ever seen (heard? not heard?). Sometimes I'll forget if I started it or not and have to actually put my ear against the counter to hear if it's running. Even then, it may take a little bit to figure it out. This was a huge benefit as I live in a loft with the living room/kitchen/dining room all open.

The top rack slopes so that on one side you can put taller glasses and the other side, shorter. This allows you to get taller items in the opposite side of the lower rack, like cookie sheets.

Overall, great design, great function!

I purchased the GE CAFE dishwasher in March of 2010 and within two years the keypad stopped working completely. When a GE technician was out for repair they told me this model has a design flaw. It was designed to be installed with a 1" gap between it and the countertop so that it could release the heat so it wouldn't short out the keypad since the keypad sits at the top of the door. First of all, that was never explained when purchasing the appliance (and i did have it professionally installed), and secondly how would you raise an existing countertop by 1"? I strongly advise you stay away from this model since even if you get it repaired the problem is only going to repeat itself....over and over again. Unfortunately I'm out $1400 plus another $200 for the repair charges. Also, this dishwasher doesn't do anything spectacular, my old dishwasher that cost $300 did the same job cleaning my dishes.

Super quiet and gorgeous!! Cleans dishes extremely well, that being said I did do a little research in regards to the new low-phosphate detergents. Since getting our new dishwasher I'm really cleaning the dishes before they go in, not because the new dishwasher isn't effective but because the new low-phosphate detergents cause the food to redeposit itself on the dishes during the wash cycle. I want to preserve this gorgeous dishwasher for as long as I can....I'm in love!! Love the hidden controls and options available for cycles.

In 2011 we purchased the Cafe dishwasher and had a few problems with it such as the "low detergent" light not going off even when refilled with recommended detergent. Another thing was that the drying fan would never shut off at the end of the cycle. It would run for days if the door was left shut even with no dishes in the washer! GE was contacted and they were great to work with in trying to solve the problem. After 4 service calls in less than a year, the dishwasher was deemed "unfixable" because of some design flaws. It seems they had created this washer during a transition in models and for some reason, the parts didn't work well together. At least that was their explanation . What did GE do? They assigned us to a customer service person who helped us to get the dishwasher replaced with the newest GE model ... free of charge. The newer model was even more expensive than the first. All the service calls and replacement parts and then a new appliance did not cost us cent! They stood behind their product! We recognize that once in a while a product is faulty, but how the company handles the situation is key. GE exceeded our expectations in helping us solve the problem! The customer service person followed up with us to make sure we were happy with the new dishwasher. It's been 4 or 5 months since the new one was installed and it has performed flawlessly. I love this dishwasher. It is quiet, does a super job cleaning, and looks really sharp

We have had nothing but problems with this dishwasher. We have tried everything from Citric Acid to vinegar. Lots of different detergents, jet dry, you name it we've tried it. I'm at the point of just trying to sell it and getting the top of the line Maytag with steam cleaning that seems to have good reviews. There is no doubt in my mind that all this energy star compliance junk has caused manufactures to make junk products.

If anyone has any recommendations I'm listening. They even sent us new parts that spin, but they worked for two weeks then died. We have average water hardness, so I don't know what the problem it. White vinegar sometimes works, but still this thing even when I run the hot water before turning it one, does NOTHING TO CLEAN.

All the dishes have stains, glasses are not near clean, and have a disgusting residue. Like a bunch of fools we purchased the 10 year warranty, but I just want to get rid of this piece of junk. We have the GE Cafe stove which is pretty good, and the refrigerator which we also like, but the dishwasher does not clear at all.

Run away from GE dishwashers, my older kitchenaid was even better.

Water tastes salty post installation. Water did not taste like that with previous factory installed filter. My tap water does not taste salty unfiltered. Probably would not buy again. Would purchase filter next time from an authorized GE dealer.

**UPDATE Seller contacted me after this review and offered to send me a replacement filter, free of charge and free shipping. It arrived VERY quickly (within 3 days of the email). New filter works great, so the 1st filter problem must have just been a fluke. I would order from this seller again. Good product and great customer service.

All three replacement filters from FiltersFast exhibit issues. Poor water flow and squeal from inside the fridge. Replaced new filter with old one and all is fine. New filters are different on the insert old ones had one large hole with multiple tiny holes around it. New ones have one large hole and two slotted holes on each side. All three new ones are lousy. Takes 45-60 seconds to fill a standard 8oz glass. Not acceptable. Called GE directly who said no change has been made to product line. Bought two more in town, one from Sears, another from HH Gregg. Both have the same design as the new ones from FiltersFast and are also lousy.

I have resorted to using the filter plug in order to have decent water flow. The filter design has obviously changed and either GE is not admitting to it or their representatives are ignorant to the change.

I hate my fridge now and currently using a Brita pitcher filter on the counter top. Neither Filtersfast, Sears or HH Gregg will accept a return. I'm now a proud owner of six new filters, over $200 in cost, that won't work worth a flip. Oh, and those of you who want to repeat what GE told me over the phone yes, both the old filter with the tiny holes and the bypass plug work fine. There is NO clog in the water line. It's the lousy new filters that GE is pushing to all the vendors.

I live in the Tucson, AZ area and our water is very hard. I test my water regularly out of the tap and it shows 240. I test the water out of my R/O system and it tests at 22. The water coming out of my ref with the GE filter which comes from the R/0 system is 20. I have the cleanest water in our neighborhood. The only issue I had was the GE filter took a couple of months to get back to "normal" testing range. When I fist installed it, the water tested at 40. Now that it's back to "normal" I'm pleased. Also the install was easy reading the simple directions took longer that the install. You just twist off the old one and twist on the new one and then run about 5 gallons through the system.

I purchased this filter and you can see a very poor job where the filter appears to have been remanufactured. I have purchased several of these filters at Lowes and none were like this on. It has been cut at the top and even has plastic splinters remaining where it was seamed back together. The filter rattles as well. No more for me and I will pay a little extra and purchase from Lowes or Home depot from now on. It might work OK but I did not want a used cartridge and there was nothing in the description describing it as such.

After replacing the MSWF water filter (2 different filters), the water dispenser is now really slow. It also makes a squealing sound. I have no idea if this is a refurb part or not. I will try and purchase a filter from Home Depot or Lowe's and see if that works.

A bit of history... We purchased the Kenmore Elite 31 cu.ft. version last December (2011) from Sears. After dealing with multiple failures and constant service calls (all on the ice machine), we finally traded it in for this one. We basically had three choices for a large capacity French door fridge the Kenmore Elite, the LG and the Samsung. After nearly a year of dealing with constant service calls and erratic ice, I wasn't willing to give that ice machine set-up another try. So we went with the Samsung. (The LG has the same mechanisms as the Kenmore).

The Good:

I have to say I was a little disappointed at first. I like the open shelf space that the in-door ice machine affords. I also like the three layers of drawers in the freezer. That all changed once I loaded up the new Samsung. The extra space in the door of the Samsung turned out to be WAY more than I anticipated. The Kenmore and LG have the slim shelving on the ice machine side. That seems like it would be enough, but let me tell you, it's not. Those shelves are so slim, that hardly any condiments fit in them. And you can only fit one row. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you are rifling through a full refrigerator looking for a small but too-round-to-fit-in-the-door jar of jelly that has made its way to the back of the bottom shelf because you don't use it that often. Having all of my myriad of condiments, jellies, dressings and miscellaneous jars of whatever that those side shelves are meant for, is worth the less than open feel of the interior of the fridge. And although the interior seems smaller because of the ice machine, the Samsung is actually one cubic foot larger than the LG and the Kenmore that doesn't seem like a lot, but my full Kenmore Elite was noticeably less full when I transferred everything to the Samsung. That additional one cubic foot along with the extra side shelf space made a HUGE difference.

The other big plus is that you can open the right side drawer on the Samsung even if the left door is closed. You couldn't do that with the Kenmore. To open the drawer on the right side, you had to open BOTH fridge doors. Who's bright design idea was that?

Mixed Review Features:

The doors are SO easy to open. With the Kenmore, there were times I had to really pull to get them open. And sometimes the kids couldn't even get them open which can be a blessing or a curse. Now my six year old is easily able to get herself another glass of milk... unfortunately, so is my two year old J

The only noticeable difference with the doors is how they close. The Kenmore was difficult to open, but easy to close. That meant a LOT of unintentionally slammed doors. The Samsung has a sort of catch before the door closes. Basically it just means that you have to want to close the door. It definitely won't be closing on its own. Again, that could be a good point or a bad depending on your preference. Also, the left door is configured in a way that it doesn't stay open on its own. If you can open it and hold it open for a minute, it will stay. But if you just push it all the way open, it WILL close on you. I spoke to a technician and that's how it is nothing can be changed. It's only a big deal with I'm loading up the weekly groceries. I move a bar stool over to hold it open and it works fine. Small inconvenience.

The ice dispenser (the few times is actually worked) on the Kenmore was fine, but I really am not a fan of push one button, get some ice, push another button, get the water. The Samsung has two separate "paddles" one for ice, one for water. Very convenient especially for the kids. Not very convenient is the location of the water dispensing tube. I've already soaked the kitchen floor three times. It is very close to the front. I actually find myself holding the glass forward and pushing the water paddle with my finger. Not very convenient. It works fine for large glasses or pitchers, but not standard glasses, and definitely not sippy cups or smaller glasses. Speaking of pitchers this one is big enough to fit our Zero Water pitcher and the water container for our coffee maker. The Kenmore, while tall, was just barely too short to fill either all the way.

Another nifty feature is that the ice maker will push extra ice down into the bottom freezer into an ice bin. This is a good and bad. It's good because the upper ice bin is small. If you have a large group of people who all use ice, you will probably run out. However, this fridge will automatically fill an ice bin in the top drawer of the freezer. That bad news is that it takes away from some space in your freezer. Even if there is a way to turn this function off (I haven't looked into it yet), there is a chute to contend with. If you put food too far back on that side of the top drawer in the freezer, it will prevent it from closing.

The ONE thing I don't like:

Only having two layers of drawers in the bottom freezer. The bottom section is DEEP. There really is no way to organize such a deep drawer with the irregularly shaped frozen food products. At least no way to organize it and keep it that way while actually using it. I find myself constantly reorganizing or digging for things.

Overall:

Even though it was a pain, I'm so glad we had to exchange our Kenmore. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Samsung. Having had both, I would HIGHLY recommend the Samsung over the Kenmore and probably the LG since it is configured basically the same way. If you are looking for a large capacity French door with a bottom freezer THIS is your fridge!

Other Notes:

I purchased this from Sears and I cannot emphasize how happy I am with Sears Service. I had the Blue Crew out 6 times over the span of 11 months. During those 6 visits, I only saw two different technicians, both of whom were very knowledgeable and patient and willing to do anything to help get my ice machine to work. One of the techs even went out of his way to take some of the parts outside to assemble them because it would be noisy and my two-year old was taking a nap! Talk about Customer Service!! When I finally threw in the towel on the Kenmore, it was a very quick and easy process to return the old fridge and get a new one. The Customer Service Rep was extremely nice and apologetic and made the return process completely hassle-free!

I have done a few months research before buying this model and have had it for over a month now. I would buy it again.

CDI's earlier review is absolutely spot on (please read it), I do not want to repeat but will add a couple of points.

Design it is a sleek looking, clean design. We went back and forth between this and the LG and thought this one wins. It is personal of course. For example the water/ice dispenser cavity edges do not protrude out or overlap with the stainless steel face think of a under-mount sink in your kitchen vs regular one. Display is cleanly organized and the blue lights are cool.

Noise it is a fair bit quieter than the old side by side Whirlpool it replaced. Consumers report has the fridge in their top choice category overall and rates noise to be Very Good. Very few have Excellent in that category. Noise level probably depends on the specific setup. My fridge is in a cavity and that muffles the noise for sure. If one of the sides is exposed, noise will be more noticeable. Perhaps going into a quiet store and giving it a listen can help.Not a concern for me though.

A piece of advice. Both LG and Samsung have stainless steel covered ice and water dispenser plates/buttons. If you push the plates a few times with a glass or ceramic cup, plates will scratch. I bought tablet screen protector, cut two pieces shaped like the plates and it worked very well.

The only thing that could be improved is freezer layout. As pointed out before, bottom drawer is deep and could have been split in two levels, i.e. have three levels in the freezer as opposed to two. It would not be fair if I deducted a star for that as there are so many other things done right on this fridge, hence my rating.

This replace a 5 year old GE. Have had this model for 6 months. The interior set up is the best we could find, it is quiet, and flexible and works well for a family with 3 boys. It has only 1 flaw that keeps us from giving 5 stars. The Icemaker doesn't perform as we would expect for a high $$ fridge.

I love this huge fridge I don't even know where to put stuff there is so much room. It is much quieter than the whirlpool I had. Crushed ice and cold filtered water for every one, no more can you get me water? all day. The lighting is awesome and all the different thing to do with shelving just awesome. Samsung just keeps making my house awesome, TV, BlueRay,Tab, Cell and now Fridge Samsung you rock now make then all talk to one another.

Update 2months later love even more this is why. My 2 year old found out where everyones water comes from and as independent as she is gave it a try. Yep! unsupervised and unfazed by the gallons of water on the floor. The water dispenser is non age discriminatory however there is a fix just hold the lock button and presto kid proof. Our friends have all had this problem we are told (after the fact of course ) but they don't own Samsung with the lock button.

The unit is big. Lots of storage space. I thought two ice makers was overkill, but I use both daily. The water seems to flow faster than our old unit. Inside the refrigerator the shelves adaptability are comparable to most units in this price range. I like the French door design with the freezer on the bottom. Finding items in the freezer is relatively easy with two drawers. What I don't like: it is on the noisy side. The door ice maker is slow to start. The freezer door pulls out farther than one would think, but you have to pull hard for the last bit. Lastly, the freezer door does not always shut all the way. I feel the pros out way the cons and would buy the unit again. I got it on sale at lowes with a five year warranty for around 2500. I hardly ever get the warranties but i feel the quality of appliances have degraded over the years to the point that necessitates getting one. Unfortunately, I have had to use my warranties on most of my new appliances. When this one fails I will move everything to my 30 year old refrigerator in the basement like I did with the last one

We purchased the Dancy 54 Bottle Wine Cooler in stainless steel and within 4 months of operation, the unit ceased to cool and one side overheated.

As Danby claims to have a one year warranty, we called Danby and found that since we had purchased the cooler at the beginning of our remodel and did not install the unit until the renovation was complete, the warranty would not be honored as we were a mere two weeks past our warranty expiration date.

We let Danby know that the unit had only been in use for under four months, whereupon we asked if Danby would not honor the warranty, would they at least sell us another unit at cost, at which point Danby stated that they would not. Too bad, so sad, you'll just have to fork up another $900.00 for another unit, sucker.

PLEASE NOTE that you cannot get Danby wine or beverage coolers serviced, states Danby customer service, as they are "contained units" which means the entire unit has to be replaced under warranty, not just the cooling elements. If it breaks during the first year, they will OSTENSIBLY send you a new unit. But who knows if they will even honor their one year warranty, based upon their reluctance to handle the simplest of customer service issues with us. It took days to get to a representative and even then they completely refused to stand behind their product.

After several tries with Danby customer service to no avail, we contacted the President of Danby, whom we were sure would make this situation right but were completely ignored. I'll bet he gets a lot of calls and mail about this very thing. Do yourself a favor and save on shipping put $900 IN A PILE AND BURN IT rather than buy any Danby product. Better yet, buy another brand, as we did. Our new cooler works just fine and it can be repaired if it breaks, as it is 21st century technology. Our new unit was cheaper, too, and is better looking.

Come on! It's a little fridge, not rocket science, and they can't get a $900 wine cooler to work for more than four months without breaking down? I'd be interested to hear from any other Danby wine cooler purchasers as I have a suspicion that these units are manufactured to meet planned obsolescence of approximately one year as a means of bilking the consumer.

Yes, you heard me, Danby, if you read these reviews: Your customer service reps were too practiced in their denial of warranty coverage for us to believe that this is an uncommon occurrence. We'd also like to hear from you, Danby, since we've not received a reply to any of our communications for several months now.

Don't buy one of these -I received one that was DOA. I could actually see where the copper line coming out of the compressor wasn't connected. Danby wanted to send someone out to fix it. They gave me three "authorized repair" phone numbers in the Bay Area, but none of them would come to San Francisco. After going back and forth between Danby and the retailer, finally the retailer took it back and send me a new one that works for now.

Terrible quality. Even worse customer service by Danby.

I'd never buy another Danby wine cooler. I can't beleive how loud this unit is. It is so bad, I have to unplug it when we have company as it is too distracting.

Not happy with the wine cooler. It is too loud, with disturbing humming in the kitchen.

Otherwise, the shelves are little tight for the mentioned number of bottles to be stacked.

Item looks somewhat "cheaply made" and flimsy.

I installed this wine cooler where I had an existing 15' cabinet/drawer. Install was easy, the fitment is great. It doesn't make much noise while running, about the same as a regular fridge. It's packed with lots of useful features such as: roller shelves, temp display with digital readout, reversable door, lockable door, LED lighting, etc. We are very happy with it.
