Selected Superc 2.5cf Fridge Black OB By Avanti
- Avanti SHP2501B Freestanding Refrigerator.
- Total Capacity:2.50 ft³. Cooling Type:Auto-defrost.
- Number of Doors/Drawers:1.
- Door Type:Reversible. Sliding Door:No.
- Design:Freestanding. Input Voltage:110 V AC.
The door alone holds 2 half gallon cartons of milk on the bottom rack and yogurt on the top rack. That leaves a lot of room for cheese, margarine, eggs, meat and leftovers.
The downside:
1) When I first plugged it in, it took at least 24 hours before the temperature was cool enough to stop me from wondering if it was broken.
2)There is no freezer so I have to buy frozen items the day I need them and ice cream and pop sicles are no longer items in our household.
3)I don't know if it's from my kids not shutting the door all the way or an internal malfunction but there is sometimes a small pool of liquid on the bottom shelf. There is a crease/indentation there so the fluid is contained. I can't tell if it's defrosting becuase of my kids or if this is done in self maintenance. It really sets off my OCD though.
The upside:
1) I spent $79 (locally) for this instead of over $1200 for the really fancy appliance that I really wanted.
2)We don't waste as much food.
3)I realized that I bought way too many condiments in the past that just never get used. Why did I buy them?
4)I used to buy quite a bit of frozen veggies. I've switched to 100% fresh, local varieties from the farmer's market. We're healthier as a result.
5)It's quieter than my former frige.
6)It still works so I feel like I've gotten my money's worth.
Bottom line: This is a good investment at the right price!!

Dual Zone Wine Cellar - WC29
- Holds up to 29 bottles in two zones
- Two zones: top zone holds 10 bottles and bottom zone which holds up to 19 bottles
- LED display, Celsius and Fahrenheit switch
- tempered glass doors
- removable shelves & basket
- Dark interior with soft interior light
- Adjustable leveling feet
- Compressor based cooling
This is a really terrific wine cooler plus was delivered before I hit Send to buy it. We have had it for four months and it works very well. The only flaw is that the temps at which the two compartments are set are a few degrees different than the ones that display on the thermometer we bought. However, this doesn't matter as once you learn the temps to set the compartments at to achieve the temps you want, they remain consistent. I suggest waiting for a couple of days before fine turning the temperatures so the thermostatic system can relax after its long journey to your home.
I did an exhaustive search to find a good cooler. Due to the nature of the mass of reviews I read on several websites, this was the only one deemed worth trying.

After looking at many different wine cellar coolers, this one was the perfect fit for the space in my dining room. I read all the reviews on the cooler and was a little concerned with the noise and brightness that other people have stated. I got to tell ya, the noise is minimal (occasionally will hear the compressor hum) and as for the brightness, I don't even notice (interior lights, you can turn on and off). I can fit all my reds, whites, champagnes (even with long necks thanks to the basket in the bottom). My wife and I love it! I would recommend this cooler.I just received this for my birthday last week and so far it's working very well... I just moved from a place on the beach to more inland LA where the days get quite hot, so I knew it was time to do something to protect my wine. The capacity is perfect and the ability to store at two different temps is awesome (although I only have a bottle of champagne in the top compartment). The reviews seem accurate, which is probably true for the other fridges; all of which got horrible reviews. I'd never heard of this brand before, but I can vouch for it's solid construction and very attractive design. This seems like the wine fridge to buy!Doesn't hold large bottles as well as I had hoped. Wish it was a little larger as well. But, it is working great. Nice and quiet and we love the LED blue optional lighting.I'm very impressed with the quality of this wine celler for the money. The Dual zones are easy to set, and it looks great. I've only had it a month, but to this point I have no complaints.Saturday, April 12, 2014
Amana Defrost Thermostat 10442411
My freezer kept getting stuck in a defrost cycle (ice cubes melt and then freezing back into a big chunk). To test, I cut the old one out of the existing harness, leaving about 4" inches on the thermostat. I then put the T-Stat in ice water to check for continuity and removed it to if it opened at around 40-50 degrees. The thermostat failed so I ordered this one as a replacement. Crimped on male and female connectors to the harness and the new thermostat and voila! My refridgerator was back in business. This replaced the original amana defrost thermostat, 1/3 of the price sears wanted, it was very easy the replacedplug and play

Our fridge crapped out and I found this and the other part we needed on here for about a 3rd of the price the repair guy said he could get it for!I diagnosed my sister's fridge problem and sent her this part. She was able to install it on her own with a little help from her husband and a online video. Worked great for her old Amana bottom freezer fridge. Fast shipping and great Amazon service as usual. It's is exactly as described a thermostats. Such an inexpensive part to stop a entire refrigerator from working. I am in full agreement with the fist reviewer here. For the money, we found that this was an adequate ice maker. We did try it in the kitchen but unfortunately the noise level is simply too high to be tolerated. It was moved to on of our screened in back porches where it can hum its little head off as we do not set there all that much. The ice does indeed do some melting from time to time and it is good to have an ice pick handy to break up the clumps. The ice is quite clear and it does freeze well and efficiently.
This is not an ice maker I would have inside the house but for the garage, porch or out of the way place it does fine and the price here is pretty good. But since it runs constantly do plan to have your electric bill go up a bit...we found this was so.
On the other hand, we are going to be purchasing a new one soon and simply plan to fork out a bit more money this time and get precisely what we want.

We got a condensate pump to go with it after reading other reviews on this and other similar ice machines. We had to install it so that the pump definitely sat lower than the icemaker to allow it to work properly. At first, there was water all over the floor until we corrected that.If you have any apprehensions at all about whether your location will work just right, than I would get a pump just in case.
Purchase your own ice scoop too because plastic just doesn't cut it.

i do not like this product because my water from the fridgerator has like a chlorine or floride taste to it...its not to bad if the water is cold but if the water sits and gets warm it is awful....i would recommend buying the original one that the fridge comes with....Want Swift Green Replacement for LG LT700P Refrigerator Filter, 2-Pack Discount?
Purchased this as an alternative to normal charcoal filters trying to do my "green thing" for the environment.I have switched back to normal filters. These do an ok job but they don't remove the taste that Dallas water has. Not much natural spring water here in the Dallas area and therefore water is pulled from reservoirs and ponds which has a high algae / green content. Normal filters filter out the taste, these don't.
Sorrytried but am switching back.

We couldn't be more pleased with ours and have had no problems, although sometimes the ice comes out a little crushed when it is supposed to be cubed. And we really like the way it looks.
I would recommend it and would purchase it again.

Had it since July. The doors require a conscious effort to close, which after two months, we have not mastered. There is a soft beeping alarm that sounds after a time if the doors are not sealed. Despite this, we all find the doors ajar for no reason. The freezer frosted over after about 24 hours of being slightly open (we were gone overnight). Maybe we've had a lifetime of old fridges with inefficient, easy to close doors and need more time to get used to this fancy piece of equipment? I'd like to observe other "high-end" fridge doors in action. Also, the ice cubes and crushed ice comes spraying out, making it difficult to capture them in a glass underneath the shoot. The inset tray does not have a drain for the melted ice which does not (in volume) make it into the cup. We keep a cotton rug nearby to absorb the water that comes from the ice surging beyond our containers onto the floor. The water that pools in the tray we soak up with a towel.
The fridge came new with a new house.

We remodeled our kitchen in Feb 2012 and bought over 5K worth of SS appliances (and 5-year warranties) from Brandsmart in Deerfield Beach,Fl including this lovely-looking Whirlpool-Gold stainless-steel French Door Bottom Freezer refrigerator. Just 6 months later the plastic CENTER SUPPORT SNAPPED IN THE FRONT to cause the 2 vegetable/fruit bins it supported to 'fall' and become cockeyed (dropping inward, toward the center next to each other); this made the veggie bins hard to pull out and made the bottom DELI bin impossible to pull out (since the 2 veggie bins above it were now sitting upon the DELI bin below them). There was no problem with Whirlpool Customer Service to send out a new plastic center support REPLACEMENT part since this was well within the 1-year warranty period from the Manufacturer (and the Brandsmart 5-year warranty period). Installing this part was easy and at first we chocked this up to 'infant mortality' where a somewhat defective piece of plastic had gone bad...(but we were WRONG!)...I say this because just 6 months after installing the REPLACEMENT part from Whirlpool, the same thing happened again...the same plastic center support SNAPPED IN THE FRONT to cause the 2 vegetable/fruit bins it supported to 'fall' and become cockeyed (dropping toward the center, and making the DELI drawer impossible to open).
Examination of the failing part shows a very weak engineering design concept in my opinion...that a 1/8-inch-thick piece of plastic that's about 1-inch wide, front to back could support the contents of not one, but TWO Vegetable/Fruit bins. Everyone knows that apples, oranges, pears, lettuce, lemons, and nearly every kind of fruit or vegetable has some WEIGHT that must be supported, and in this case the weight of a normal amount of veggies and fruits will cause the breaking failure of the plastic center support over time (6-months in my case). I have never owned a refrigerator with such a flimsy support system for the vegetable drawers or had to 'estimate' how many pieces of fruit or vegetables I could safely ADD to the two bins to avoid this CENTER SUPPORT SNAPPING failure due to their weight. So now I have an expensive piece of stainless-steel fridge that looks great on the outside but is very poorly designed inside with respect to the CENTER PLASTIC SUPPORT that really 'CAN'T SUPPORT' much weight in the vegetable/fruit bins at all.
To make matters worse when I called up Brandsmart Warranty services for a new veggie-bins center support the girl I spoke with told me "THIS ISN'T SUPPORTED BY YOUR WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS"and that they would only support "ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL FAILURES of the fridge". When I questioned why a SNAPPING PIECE OF PLASIC THAT SUPPORTS TWO VEGETABLE/FRUIT BINS didn't fall into the MECHANICAL FAILURE category, she still denied my logic; when I asked to speak with a supervisor a man got on the phone and backed up the poor girl that first answered the phone... so I told the super I'd find a new place to shop the next time, and would never buy another Brandsmart Appliance or Warranty again! I reminded him that when I bought the FIVE-YEAR WARRANTIES for all my new kitchen appliances in January, 2012 the salesman told me they would cover "ANYTHING THAT WENT WRONG" with them...the Warranty Supervisor told me that I was "misinformed" and that I should have read the terms and conditions before purchasing the warranties. I told him that I'd believed their salesman to be an honest guy and there was no mention about 'not replacing broken plastic parts' within the appliances when he sold me the warranties. So much for Brandsmart Warranties!
The good news is that I was able to buy a replacement plastic center support part from a local appliance parts store for under $20 that included a "free replacement of the part for LIFE". I installed the new part and will now hope this replacement part will last more than the 6-month lives of the first two that broke! Honestly WHIRLPOOL, did you ever TEST for the breaking weight of this extremely flimsy plastic center support for your two vegetable/fruit bins before releasing this refrigerator for sale? In my opinion the only thing that will permanently repair this engineering flaw is a center support part manufactured from metal instead of the plastic part supplied. For this reason only I'm giving this refrigerator a '2-star rating' as the rest of it has been working fine so far. (knock on wood!!!)

We bought this fridge about two months ago as a replacement for a horrible Samsung that flooded our house. So far so good on this one. It's big, with good-sized veggie and deli drawers, lots of tall shelves (once we took an extraneous one out), and a deep freezer. Everything seems to be kept evenly cool, except for a cold spot in the top middle where we found inadvertently frozen condiments. Now that we know, no big deal. The french doors work fine -the one that is supposed to be 'behind' the other will open/close independently with a bit of extra attention, and the alarm will let you know if you've forgotten it.
The only downside is the ice maker, which is ridiculously noisy both when filling with water and with chopping up the ice (or whatever it's doing). The capacity isn't nearly what you'd expect from such a big fridge; it runs out of ice after not many glasses. It has also jammed up with ice several times, requiring us to remove the ice from the top of the mechanism to prevent it from slowly melting into the little door tray all day. So definitely not a win in that department. But if you're mostly using the fridge as just a plain old fridge, then it's a good one.We purchased our new house in Oct. 2011, and the home builder offered whirlpool appliances as part of the upgraded service. Since then, our refrigerator has needed service twice, both for the same reason. The pump that sends water to the ice and water dispenser stops working. For the price of this appliance, I was hoping for a little more than 16 months use and two service calls, but it may just be the house that is cursed, as our other whirlpool appliances have also had problems, including the dishwasher and range hood.
As others have mentioned here, the ice dispenser is really loud, and unless you hold the glass right up against the opening, you will have ice all over the place, and very little in the glass. The temperature readings seem to be off as well, as we have had bacon freeze in the meat tray at the bottom of the refrigerator, not the freezer. I mean frozen solid, even though we have the temp set at 41 degrees.
If you think this is the fridge for you, then by all means get the extended warranty...whirlpool wanted me to pay $350 to come out and repair my fridge for the second time, since it is 4 months past my 1 year warranty.

We liked the features, we liked the price. It is less than 3 years old and now needs considerable repair and it seems like it will be the compressor. Total repair estimated at about half the original purchase price. The constant cycling, about every 20-30 sec from the get-go apparently is "planned" according to a repair person we had come out within 60 days and it was a silent on-off cycle at all. We will see whether the repairs work, or we, too will have a very large piece of junk.Read Best Reviews of Avanti WC681BG2 24 Freestanding Wine Cooler 166-Bottle Capacity Here
Thought I was getting a good deal when purchased. Unit worked fine for 2 years and stopped cooling. Found out not many folks work on these coolers but Avanti had one serviceman in my area to recommend. Paid about half of the original cost of the unit to get it "repaired." A year later, stopped cooling again. Service company came back, refilled with freon. 10 months later stopped cooling again. Now being told compressor needs replacing. If have done, will have more invested in repairs than the cost of unit. Avanti customer service has a lot of reasons they can't do anything but not many to stand behind product. I appreciate their free parts but the hourly service rate (plus freon, etc) is a killer. Since I am not real confident replacing the compressor will solve the problem, think I'll cut my losses and start looking for a better quality cooler.Want Avanti WC681BG2 24 Freestanding Wine Cooler 166-Bottle Capacity Discount?
love it, set up very easily and handles most wine bottles. Seems very stable and secure.loaded full and did not take too long to cool down. seems to be keeping temp fine.I purchased this single temperature zone wine cellar almost 2 years ago, in August 2011. It shipped by common carrier, and delivery was a hassle. I don't blame the seller, the trucking company was tricky to deal with. The price, including shipping was about $1,000.00, and I have not seen anyone sell anything like this item for much less. I opted for the single temperature zone because, after reading a number of reviews, concluded that the dual zone feature was not really effective. To accomplish nearly the same thing, I store sparkling and white wines on the bottom and move them to a regular refrigerator a few hours before serving. It is as noisy as any refrigerator might be, which is to say that you don't notice it unless you are paying attention to it. I happen to have it in my home office and have spent many long hours sitting just 3 feet away without notice that it was running at all. My cellar has performed very well since installation it does what it is supposed to do and what I expect it to do. Here are the negatives, all of which are minor in my mind: The internal light does not reach the lower shelves, but room lighting makes up for that. The shelves are spaced close together to maximize storage capacity, and bottles get their labels scraped as you put them in, take them out, or when you slide the shelves out. A significant part of the capacity for each shelf lies behind the front row of storage and bottles stored behind the front row will not be visible without sliding the shelf out. The door is reversible (opens to the right or to the left), but you have to call the manufacturer for help to accomplish the switch still on my "to do" list. I would recommend this product if you need a wine cellar with this capacity.
