I bought this unit to replace the one on my Amana Model SRD21VW-P1315501WW. The refridgerator called out for a Defrost Thermostat R0161088 which is the same sensor unit with a large harness and several connectors which cost $34 and required running wires through the back wall of the freezer compartment.My freezer kept getting stuck in a defrost cycle (ice cubes melt and then freezing back into a big chunk). To test, I cut the old one out of the existing harness, leaving about 4" inches on the thermostat. I then put the T-Stat in ice water to check for continuity and removed it to if it opened at around 40-50 degrees. The thermostat failed so I ordered this one as a replacement. Crimped on male and female connectors to the harness and the new thermostat and voila! My refridgerator was back in business.
