We liked the features, we liked the price. It is less than 3 years old and now needs considerable repair and it seems like it will be the compressor. Total repair estimated at about half the original purchase price. The constant cycling, about every 20-30 sec from the get-go apparently is "planned" according to a repair person we had come out within 60 days and it was a silent on-off cycle at all. We will see whether the repairs work, or we, too will have a very large piece of junk.Read Best Reviews of Avanti WC681BG2 24 Freestanding Wine Cooler 166-Bottle Capacity Here
Thought I was getting a good deal when purchased. Unit worked fine for 2 years and stopped cooling. Found out not many folks work on these coolers but Avanti had one serviceman in my area to recommend. Paid about half of the original cost of the unit to get it "repaired." A year later, stopped cooling again. Service company came back, refilled with freon. 10 months later stopped cooling again. Now being told compressor needs replacing. If have done, will have more invested in repairs than the cost of unit. Avanti customer service has a lot of reasons they can't do anything but not many to stand behind product. I appreciate their free parts but the hourly service rate (plus freon, etc) is a killer. Since I am not real confident replacing the compressor will solve the problem, think I'll cut my losses and start looking for a better quality cooler.Want Avanti WC681BG2 24 Freestanding Wine Cooler 166-Bottle Capacity Discount?
love it, set up very easily and handles most wine bottles. Seems very stable and secure.loaded full and did not take too long to cool down. seems to be keeping temp fine.I purchased this single temperature zone wine cellar almost 2 years ago, in August 2011. It shipped by common carrier, and delivery was a hassle. I don't blame the seller, the trucking company was tricky to deal with. The price, including shipping was about $1,000.00, and I have not seen anyone sell anything like this item for much less. I opted for the single temperature zone because, after reading a number of reviews, concluded that the dual zone feature was not really effective. To accomplish nearly the same thing, I store sparkling and white wines on the bottom and move them to a regular refrigerator a few hours before serving. It is as noisy as any refrigerator might be, which is to say that you don't notice it unless you are paying attention to it. I happen to have it in my home office and have spent many long hours sitting just 3 feet away without notice that it was running at all. My cellar has performed very well since installation it does what it is supposed to do and what I expect it to do. Here are the negatives, all of which are minor in my mind: The internal light does not reach the lower shelves, but room lighting makes up for that. The shelves are spaced close together to maximize storage capacity, and bottles get their labels scraped as you put them in, take them out, or when you slide the shelves out. A significant part of the capacity for each shelf lies behind the front row of storage and bottles stored behind the front row will not be visible without sliding the shelf out. The door is reversible (opens to the right or to the left), but you have to call the manufacturer for help to accomplish the switch still on my "to do" list. I would recommend this product if you need a wine cellar with this capacity.
