Kenmore Ice Maker Icemaker W10122502 & 2198597
- Non Oem Part
Just one thing to remember if your old icemaker hasn't been working for a while, once you put in the new icemaker, you will most likely need to defrost the freezer so the water line can thaw. I forgot about that when I first installed this new icemaker so I was disappointed when it didn't work right away. Then I remembered that the water line to the freezer was probably frozen since our icemaker had been broken for about 6 months. Once I turned the fridge off and let it sit for about 4-5 hours, I plugged it back in and in maybe an hour or two I had ice cubes again! Awesome.
Oh yeah one more thing you'll want to throw away the first few batches of ice from the new icemaker because the water in the line will probably be stagnant (if the old icemaker was broken for a while).
I am very pleased with my purchase and happy I installed the part myself. I saved about $80 over purchasing the same part directly from Sears, and about $145 over having some repair person do it for me.
Excellent!

Item arrived on time and instructions were clear. However, even though this was the correct "replacement" part for my fridge, apparent this "replacement" part is also used on other brand and model number fridges as well. Unfortunately, in an attempt to have this unit function as a universal replacement for multiple refrigerators, not everything lined up. The power harness was ok, but not as good of a quality as the one I took out. Worse, the top "neck" where the water enters wasn't tall enough and water splashed out when the ice tray refilled making a mess in my freezer. The good news was that the only thing inoperative on my old ice maker was the motor and it was completely interchangeable with the new one. So to solve my problem, I used only the motor from the new unit and was able to reuse everything else from my old ice maker.Read Best Reviews of Kenmore Ice Maker Icemaker W10122502 & 2198597 Here
I bought this for our Kenmore Elite. It took me all of 15 minutes to install...it began working immediately! This is a simple DIY job even for a novice. We don't have to buy bagged ice anymore!Want Kenmore Ice Maker Icemaker W10122502 & 2198597 Discount?
This product is a drop in replacement for the ice maker that failed in my Kitchen Aid refrigerator, although it is a very very low quality replacement, and I question how long it will last. Besides the very flimsy construction, ice keeps jamming while being ejected. After only a week of operation, ice has jammed between the ejector fingers and the frame of the ice maker 3 times. One time I actually needed to use a hair dryer to melt the stuck piece of ice for fear of breaking the unit! I believe that this unit will need constant babysitting until the motor finally burns out from being jammed so frequently. I highly recommend opting for either an OEM replacement, or at least a bit more expensive knock-off.10/4/12 Update This unit died a couple days ago, after just over 1 year of use. It continued to jam at least weekly, and was a constant nuisance, so I'm almost happy it finally died...I did not receive a mounting bracket, screws or instructions. Luckily, the screws and mounting bracket from my old unit fit flawlessly on the new one and it only took a little fiddling around to figure out how to remove/replace it. The unit is making ice, and I have no complaints there. So I guess the moral of the story is don't bother to pay extra for an exact fit all of these units seem to be widely used with a variety of mounting hardware.

The fact that the refrigerator was defective and did not get cold...at all was not as frustrating and aggravating as the subsequent custormer service or lack of it!!! i purchased the same make and model refrigerator at least 6 or 7 years ago, and it is still working fine. So i understand that sometimes these things happen. However it has been nearly 1 month since my initial complaint and the refrigerator has not been replaced. I did receive approximately 1 million emails directing me to contact the manufacturer (Avanti) who sent me back to Amazon; and somewhere along the way some entity named "Evive" became involved...but the refrigerator is still here!!!Read Best Reviews of Avanti 4.5 Cu Ft Dorm Fridge Black SS Here
I can't even give a review of the product since it was received not working, two and a half months ago, I'll base this review purely on Avanti's complete lack of customer care. The compressor was bad in a brand new unit but rather than allow us to exchange the thing we were forced to deal with a service company to come out and inspect it. It didn't work for the service tech either, imagine that. Now we were forced to wait 2 to 3 weeks for a replacement compressor. After the 2 to 3 weeks go by, then 2 more weeks we contact them and they magically had just gotten the compressor in so they were setting a time to come repair the unit.....next week. The week of repair finally came 2 more weeks later and the service tech asks me why Avanti are even bothering repairing this unit, his charge for repair plus the new compressor was more than the cost of a new unit.
I have no answer for him but he says he plans to contact Avanti and see what's up. He never calls back or shows up for the repair.
A few days later Avanti calls me and asks for my email address so they can send me instructions to get a replacement unit. Finally!
In those instructions I'm required to peel off the model number label, cut off the end of the electrical cord and send them a check for $10!!!
WTF?? $10 for what? I paid full price and the system never worked. I'm going to mail you ten more dollars?
When hell freezes over.
God help you if you buy from Avanti.

Haier ZHVTM06PBB 6-Bottle Wine Cellar

I purchased this chiller to age homemade cheese in. Most of the cheese we make has to age for several weeks to several months at certain temps. This little chiller will fit the bill to a T. Actually we can have wine and cheese any time now. Great little cooler.Read Best Reviews of Haier ZHVTM06PBB 6-Bottle Wine Cellar Here
Very pleased with this unit so far. Exterior digital display makes it easy to keep and eye on the temp. The temp selector is an analog dial inside the unit, and doesn't have numeric scale, so there's some trial and error to get the right temp, but overall works well. The unit is out in our garage that fluctuates with the outside temp, and overall does a very good job maintaining temp, even when it's up into the 80s and 90s outside. Will be purchasing a 2nd one shortly so we can have a red and white cellar at different temps.Want Haier ZHVTM06PBB 6-Bottle Wine Cellar Discount?
I bought this to age cheese and wine in, per another review. It works great. The temp is controlled by a knob inside the unit, so you may have to do a little trial and error to get it to where you need it. Not bad at all.To start with, I'm not a wine cona "sewer". I don't know that much about it and would never pay a lot for it. Crown Royal is my drink of choice. However, I saw this wine deal from Wall Street Journal. The introductory offer was about 15 bottles for about $90 with no shipping charges. This is about $6 a bottle which is in my league. Every 3 months or so they offer you some more but not so cheaply. You can cancel at any time. (Wish it was that easy with marriage!) So I ordered it. The bottles have nice labels and many foreign pedigrees. While drinking that first bottle, I decided to investigate wine chillers again. I had looked several years ago and Consumers Reports had reviewed many, mostly bad. I looked again and Consumers has rated only the expensive, $1500, models. I would never pay that. So, I started looking at Amazon. This model seemed to have good reviews and the price was good. (At that time, it was $62 with free, Amazon Prime, shipping. Now, the price is not so good.)
I kinda wanted the nickel finish but someone wrote that the whole unit wasn't nickel so I opted for this black one, a little cheaper, and, it would go okay in our kitchen. The unit was very well packed in an extra heavy cardboard box and enclosed in Styrofoam. I thought the quality was excellent. It fits very nicely on our kitchen counter, not taking up very much room. It has an internal LED lite that you can turn off if you want. It's not enough light to read the bottle labels but it is really cool looking when you have your friends over.
Haier seems to be pretty well known for making refrigeration units. This unit, however, does not have a compressor. It uses thermoelectric cooling, conversion of electricity into cooling. As such, it could be more reliable (and smaller) and quieter. You might compare this unit to a Styrofoam cooler with ice on the bottom. There aren't any coils in the sides, bottom, or top of this unit. Maybe a negative is that the unit runs all of the time to maintain the desire cooling.
The manual states that the internal temperature is a function of the external temperature. This makes sense if you again think of this unit as similar to a Styrofoam cooler. We keep our home at about 70 degrees. I found that the min and max temperatures of this unit were 47 and 63 degrees which is agreement with the manual specifications and covers what I found on the internet to be a recommended range for wine chilling 43 to 65 degrees. For me, if it contains alcohol and I want it, I will drink it no matter what its temperature is! The temperature adjustment is a simple knob. Those that desire more precision should perhaps opt for a digital model.
As far as the Wall Street Wine goes, I was disappointed. I thought that the big W Mart wine, going for $4, was much better. One reviewer complained about noise from this unit. There is some noise from the fan which runs all the time, but, unless you live in a mortuary, any noise would probably be overcome by your refrigerator, TV, or kids. At the price I paid, I was thinking about buying more units simply for storage of something! It is pretty cool looking!
Unless you think you can drink more than 6 bottles a day, when even I, a serious drinker, can't, I think this unit is a good choice. With the price increase I have just seen, you might evaluate other units. I definitely think that a non-compressor unit is the way to go for small (and cheap) coolers.

Vinotemp VT-BC58SB Built-In or Freestanding Beverage Cooler
- Built-in or freestanding beverage cooler with front-venting system
- Black cabinet; stainless-steel door trim and handle; double-paned glass door
- Digital controls; adjustable temperature from 40 to 65 degrees F
- 3 metal shelves; small storage bin; interior light; door lock for security
- Measures 24 by 24 by 34-1/2 inches
On July 10th 2012 I ordered a Vinotemp beverage cooler and it arrived in not working order I sent the cooler back to Amazon.com and they mailed me another one on July 16th 2012. I did not hook the cooler up until the later part of September since this was for a new kitchen build. I used the cooler to store water and beverages in my kitchen Island. From the first week I noticed the unit was not cooling well and had trouble maintaining a suitable temperature for my beverages it cooled between 45 to 50 degree's which is a warm soda. The unit later started to build condensation on the back and the cooling continued to worsen. I then noticed that ice was building up inside the unit. I put a towel down on the floor and inside the unit as soon as I noticed the ice building up in the back of the unit, in case it leaked out. I then inspected my floor and noticed damage to laminate. I called vinotemp and this is the start of the issues (amazon.com said manufactures has to deal with it over 30 days).
Called Paul at Vinotemp reported issues:
Repairman came out 10/24 noticed unit broke needed to take unit out of counter he stated the unit would not easily come out and needed me to take it out. Funny since it is a counter unit.
Took unit out called vinotemp to reschedule
10/26 repairman scheduled to come out. NO Show no call. Paid an employee to wait on him.
Called Vinotemp apologized
10/30 repairman came out. Diagnosed unit broke. Door failed to shut properly allowing unit to leak on floor. Unit un repairable. (See attached notice from Vinotemp repairman stating unit broke)
Called Vinotemp and emailed vinotemp.
Wanted refund did not want a new unit, needed this handle asap since I had 20+ people coming over for thanksgiving to see my new house.
Vinotemp mailed a new unit even tho I did not want one. Paul at Vinotemp asked me to send photos of floor damage and to try new unit.
Installed new unit before Thanksgiving, had contractor replace floor for $945.00 dollars.
About the unit
The unit fails to keep drinks cold but it does keep them cool. The temp is around 42-44 degrees on average. Unit claims to cool to 40 but it will not hold the temp. Fridges cool to 35 to 37 for example and produce cold beverages. Unit works at best marginally and at worst will ruin your kitchen, as was my case.
Later Vinotemp responds saying they will not pay for the floor and that they will also not take back the unit.
The unit cost me $869 dollars the damage it can cause to my floor is at least $945.00 as proven from the last episode. Vinotemp fails to accept responsibly for the damage to my floors which the repairman told me was the case.
The message in short is do not buy a Vinotemp if the floor or counters it is near is not water proof and if you buy this unit understand that it will not cool to 40 degrees and your beverages will likely be warm. If you have an issue with the product they do warranty it but I called over a dozen times and still did not get a good resolution.
In short I will never purchase anything from Vinotemp because if it ruins your property they don't care and will waste your time to resolve the issue.

Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/Black
PROS:
-Coffee is full-bodied and flavorful. I use the 4-cup setting with about 3 cups of water and the strength set to strong. This uses the aroma feature, and the coffee is perfect.
-Temperature is perfect, the hottest I've tasted from a model like this. The base WARMS THE THERMAL CARAFE when the machine goes on, then goes off when the brew is complete. This may theoretically be eliminating the effect of the cooling of hot coffee by a stone-cold carafe. On the other hand, the carafe is highly insulated and it may be doing nothing. The bottom line is that the temperature is perfect, the coffee is still hot even after adding cold milk. The coffee remains hot for quite a while in the thermal carafe.
-Design is quite niceit is self contained as opposed to other mill & brew models that have parts that swing around. The design feels very robust, there are no wimpy plastic bits. There is a piece that fits over the grind basket that has a gear which appears to rotate, likely to keep steam out of the grinder.
-It could not be easier to use on a daily basis all I do is put in THE RIGHT amount of water, put the cover on top of the brew basket, and press program (I have it programmed for the same time every day). After it brews and I pour the coffee, I swing out the basket, pour out the grinds & rinse the basket, rinse the carafe, and I'm ready to go.
-cleaning is simple; I notice others complain but I haven't had any problems. See above for my daily routine; I've been using the brush weekly on the grind spout, it takes two minutes and is not messy.
-The brushed chrome looks great on the counter.
-3 year warranty is reassuring
CONS:
-The grind appears to be too coarse. Other models have a grind control to change the coarseness of the coffee, this one does not. This has improved a little after a few weeks of use, but not completely. Also, I've noticed that (through laws of physics) the coarsest part of the grind stays on top, then the finer grounds work their way to the bottom. This is probably wasting a bit of coffee, but once I worked out how much water to use it doesn't affect the strength. Overall I have not noticed that I am going through coffee faster than before, so I think some of the "coffee wasting" reviews may be somewhat overstated. On first glance it does appear to use a lot of coffee when you are pouring out the grounds, but looking at how many bags I'm going through it doesn't appear much different.
-The mechanism to pour coffee from the carafe is not perfect; it works ok when pouring out from a mostly full carafe, but to get the last cup or two from the bottom I have to take the top off. If I don't it drips all over the counter. Taking the top off I can pour it without any mess.
-The water indicator level is on the right side near the back. If you are putting it against a wall on the left it will be fine, but on my counter it needs to be against a wall on the right, so if I need to look at the water level I need to pull the coffeemaker away from the wall. To get around this I have figured exactly how much water to put in from a measuring cup.
THE BOTTOM LINE (again):
The coffee is excellent, and HOT. The design is marvelous. On a day-to-day basis it is extremely easy to use and convenient. The grind is a bit too coarse, but I don't seem to be going through coffee much faster than before, so this may be a little bit of an illusion. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE STRENGTH OF YOUR COFFEE USING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WATER. I can strongly recommend this coffeemaker if you want hot, convenient, fresh-ground coffee every day. Enjoy!I chose this grind and brew after reading all of the reviews for this and similar machines. Frankly, I am surprised by the negative comments. This is an easy to use machine once it is set up properly (the bean hopper takes a little of effort to snap in). The coffee tastes great and the parts are very easy to clean quickly. While the instruction book is not clear, Cuisinart was very helpful on the phone. The machine does not know how much water you put in, so if you set it to grind coffee for 6 cups and you have 8 cups of water in it, it will process all 8 cups of water. Other than this small quirk, the machine is a small wonder and I do not feel compelled to go out for coffee in the morning. The thermos carafe will keep the coffee quite warm for a few hours, even when the carafe is not warmed up with hot water. Wondering why it took me so long to go ahead and buy this machine. This is the best model; my neighbor has the first generation/second generation machine which is hard to clean and has a large footprint. Save your money and buy this model!
Now that I have had the machine for a month and a half: It requires some cleaning to get the fine grounds that compress and stop the grinder and ground coffee to get into the filter for brewing. I use a bamboo chopstick and a skewer to break up the compressed fine grounds that impede the machine from working properly. (Unplug the machine and put it over the sink area). I also use compressed air to blow out the fine ground particles. Still, this is a small maintenance to allow for great coffee in the AM.This unit wastes beans.
According to the user manual, if you fill the coffee bean hopper with 1/2 lb of coffee, you can expect "at least" two 12 cup brews. I thought this was a bit conservative but it was confirmed when I made the first pot of coffee. I set the machine for 12 cups and watched as almost half of the beans disappeared on the first pot.
I figure it uses almost 1/4 lb of beans to brew a full pot (12 cups of 5 oz coffee). This is about double what would be used if you followed the directions when using a manual grinder (one scoop of beans per cup using the scoop that comes with this coffee maker).
I think Cusinart kept the grind at very coarse level to ensure proper grind flow in the machine. To compensate, they increased the amount of coffee ground. Thus it uses about 4 oz of beans versus 2.5 oz of beans per 10-12 cup pot. It doesn't sound like much but works out to 60% extra per pot.
I've owned the Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew Coffeemaker and Melitta Mill & Brew Coffee Maker so this is my third unit brew and grind unit. The two previous units has manual bean fill and comparatively good control on the grind. This unit always grinds very very coarse.
Pro: Large Bean Hopper
Easy to clean
Fill level on side (DGB-600BC did not)
Gold filter basket included
3 Year Warranty
Simple operation (for a grind & brew machine)
Seems well constructed
Cons: Grind is always very course
Uses twice as much beans
Carafe pours slow and tends to drip
The coffee tastes OK its not as good as what you can get with a manual grind/brew but consistent with the other Mill & Brew machines I've had. It is well built and I think the 3 year warranty is key because our other Cuisinart grinder motor lasted about 18 months, but its going back because I make about 2 pots/day and this translates into a couple hundred dollars year. Going to try the Capresso 455 or 454.
Update
I've got the Capresso 454 and love it. It can grind from super fine up to coarse and makes a great cup of coffee. This is a GREAT coffee maker. The primary objections in other reviews I saw were 1) Weak coffee I do not understand this as you can adjust both the strength of the brew as well as the quantity of beans ground (e.g. grind enough beans for 10 cups but only put in 8 cups of water). We have actually had to reduce the strength settings as the strong setting was too rich for my wife ; 2) hard to pour this is somewhat true as the opening on the carafe is very small (to preserve heat), but twisting the top open just slightly solves that problem; 3) coffee not hot enough it is not as hot as what you would get at a specialty coffee shop but it is still hot enough to make very good coffee. We always rinse the carafe and our cups with hot water before we start and that seems to help a lot; We do find that we need to microwave the coffee in the cup if it has been in the carafe for about an hour or more 4) difficult to program or set up it does require being put together properly and it is somewhat more complex than the traditional drip coffee maker, but the setup requires about 20 seconds to master. We leave the settings alone and just pour in water and add beans daily so once it is set up, it is a "no brainer". We have never had problems with grinds being spilled and I suspect that whoever did either had a defective unit, or did not put the basket into the unit properly. My wife forgot to put the filter basket into the unit one time -and it would not grind the beans until she did -great feature.
The combination of a burr grinder, 12-cup capacity, insulated pot (no hot plate to burn the coffee), adjustable coffee strength, and large bean reservoir with ability to specify the number of cups being brewed (no need to measure beans every time you brew) make this a really great coffeemaker.
If your expectations are for a super-hot cup of coffee then you will be disappointed. If you just want an easy-to-use coffee maker that allows you to adjust the coffee strength to your preference (including very strong), then this is a great unit.We are very happy with this coffee maker. The things that are not good are that the thermal carafe pours out a very weird thin stream of coffee which takes to long to fill a cup and it is awkward to comepletly emtpy it. It does leave some grindings on the lid but that is not a total problem. The coffee is not as hot because it goes into the cool carafe and that cools it down.
So the point of a thermal carafe is now a drawback. I like my coffee hot so its a draw back for me. Other than that it all works well, stays clean, you do not have to clean the grinder compartment eveyr time you use it. The compartment does not get any steam it in it like the previous one did. We bought ours from Williams Sononma and are trying it out. I think we will keep it but we are still not 100% sure. It makes a good cup of coffee and the grinder works great and the extra beans it holds is a big plus.

I would get 2 now and tape the other to your dryer. The belts are relatively inexpensive and I have the steps to replace down pretty good now. Whole job takes about 25-35 minutes. It's amazing that we owned a cheapo dryer for 15 years and never broke a belt. Now I've replaced 3 on my high-tech expensive dryer!!! humpf..

Good looking, dual-zone system chills to proper temperatures, but this is noisiest and gurgling refrigeration system I've heard. Tried restarting, still the noise continues. When the system is at temp, quiet.I purchased 2 of these wine coolers 3yrs ago. The first one died after 6months. Haier took over 3 months and replace every electronic part in it to fix it, but couldn't. After much arguing, they finally sent me a replacement. 2yrs later, the replacement fridge and the second one I intially bought have both failed. They all 3 did the same thing. All of a sudden it would show one zone at 45degrees and the other at 77degrees. When you open the fridge you can tell by feeling the bottles that those temperatures are actually reversed, as far as the zone goes. Either way, there is no adjusting the temperature and half the wine is almost frozen (actually had ice/frost layer build up on my wine, or it is warm to the touch. A terrible product from a company that has terrible customer service. I wouldnt recommend this product to anyone. Keep in mind this happened on 3 of this exact same unit. That is not a coincidence. Just a crappy product.I dont have a very large quantity bottles of wine but once in a while I like to enjoy some, so I receive the box with my wine cooler in perfectly condition and I really like the shape and size of this item, I start and I set the temperatures of whites and red wine it was so easy to set and in 1.5 hours the temperatures was set as I put it. Im enjoying this item that Im thinking to buy another one.Tuesday, July 23, 2013
GE PHS925STSS Profile 30" Stainless Steel Electric Slide-In Induction Range - Convection
It is beautifully made, very sleek and modern, and works like a dream. All fans on it (convection and component cooling) are whisper quiet. The control board is located on the front (unlike the free-standing model) and is very intuitive to use. It is definitely what I call "granny friendly," i.e. even those from the non-digital age will be able to use it easily.
The oven is very spacious and at high altitude only took 13 minutes to heat from cold to 425 degrees. I especially love the sliding rack and will be replacing the other two standard racks with those. Even at 425 degrees, the front of the oven door remained cool to the touch, suggesting that this stove is very well insulated. The first batch of cookies in it came out beautifully and the timing was +/1 minute from my usual recipe so I call that spot on.
The first time I used the stovetop, I put pan down, turned the heat to 5 and dropped in a pat of butter which began to melt *instantly* and I do mean instantly. Water boils in no time, and clean-up is a breeze.
The pans I am using are: Cuisinart FCT-10 French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless 10-Piece Cookware Set and they work fantastically with this stove.
I could not be more thrilled, and will update this review as time goes on.I purchased my GE PHS9252STSS 30" slide in Induction Range from Pacific Sales after reading Consumer Reports, Gardenweb forums and other reviews.
I installed it and wired a 4 ft x 4 prong wire so that it could easily fit behind the range (match the colors, black to black, white to white, green to green and pink to red). Also installed the anti-tip bracket to the floor tile.
I went out and purchased a new 13 piece 18/10 Stainless Steel cookware set from Costco for around $180. The induction burners are great, they heat up very quickly. You can boil water in like 90seconds. Very precise and quick heat control, when you turn it down, within seconds, you can see heat change. Since the new cookware is magnetic, once you lift the pan, the burner will turn off after 20 seconds or so (initially it will blink). This way you can never leave them on accidentally as long as no pan remains on top.
Clean up is a snap with Cerama Bryte glass cooktop cleaner once a week, otherwise mild soap and water is enough.
The oven does take time to heat up, if you set it for 325C, temperature starts at 100C, changes 1 degree every 10 seconds or so, so expect to wait 8-10minutes. Then it can maintain the temperature easily. It has an electronic beeping sound when your timer is complete or your bake temperature is reached. I wish it was a little louder. Otherwise the oven works great.
You have to run the self clean cycle the first time for over 3 hours as there is a strange odor from the oven when you use it each time.
I have had the range for a week and both the wife and I love it. The switch from electric to induction was the right move. I did purchase a 5 year extended warranty as the technology is new and did not want to take any chances.
Highly recommended, paid around $2200 for my range.

I purchased this range with the advantum 120 microwave oven. So far both items are wonderful. I enjoy using my stove top for the heat accuracy and speed. It heats rapidly with steel or iron pots and pans. You can use aluminum if you use a heat transfer disc. The oven is typical for this product and works well. After looking at numerous reviews; including those at Amazon. I concur fully with the reviewer-" Meet Jane JetsonLove this Range" This George Jetson Loves it Too!Made in USA; flexiblity of gas; energy efficent; oven retains heat.
My recommendation to all-take time to read the manual.
I agree the oven takes longer to eat up; but with convection on we got great homemade chocolate chip cookies and bread.Good looking range.
Yes we had to buy new cookware. All Clad D5 (non-stick and regular and made in USA); Swiss Diamond. But well worth it.
After 3 months still very happy.
Lock out control helps to clean control area; Al clad pots allow smaller diameter pot on 11 inch element; yes oven slow to heat up; but once it heats up it retains the heat in the range.
Used the probe-the way to roast! Followed directions and the chicken came out moist and done. No more worries about how long to cook; use the probe and the internal temperature you selected. Would like the probe cord longer but not critical.
It even survived an overflow in the oven. What a mess; had to use diluted de-greaser then activate the self-cleaning.I'm sure based on all reviews and research we will love this range, purchased from a local applicance provider.I uncrated the appliance, installed a new pigtail and, as a cheap and probably unnecessary extra bit of caution, a new 40 amp breaker to replace the existing 38 year old model. Drum-roll, please ... and flip the breaker: the screen returns an "FA17" code. After a week a very competent GE service tech was able to be scheduled and quickly diagnosed the need for a new "generator control board." It will be a week until this arrives and a couple more days until the GE tech will be able to install. Presumably we will be ready to roll then with the new SS-ware purchased for the occasion. I am disappointed by the delay (it was also a month on order before delivery). I was also surprised that no one in the blogosphere had encountered "FA17." One of the "how much would you pay for help" websites indicated that FA17 meant "time to buy a new range." Not helpful, though GE has stepped up nicely. We will update this review in a couple of weeks, but offer a translation for FA17 if anyone else encounters this message.
