Danby DWC93BLSDB 36 Bottle Wine Cooler

Danby DWC93BLSDB 36 Bottle Wine Cooler
  • Free-standing design; 36-bottle capacity
  • Interior blue LED lighting illuminates with minimal heat
  • UV-ray-resistant tempered glass door
  • Door opens to the left or right
  • Recessed pocket-style handle for easy opening

Arrived on time. Works as advertised. Great value. It is not perfectly quite, but not loud either. This is not the cooler for you if you are looking for precise temp control given the analog temp control on the back. It would be nice if the light control were on the outside. Given the price, these are small complaints.

GE WR49X10091 Assembly Cover Inlet Kit for Refrigerator

GE WR49X10091 Assembly Cover Inlet Kit for RefrigeratorI can't rate the item (I didn't buy it) but I appreciate the option to buy and install by myself. I just had an appliance repairman do the job and everything (the part and the labor) cost me $390. Took him about 30 minutes to remove the old part and install the new one. If you are handy and have 30 minutes to spare, you can save yourself couple hundred $$.

Wow, I was about to trash the fridge because of not being able to maintain the correct temperature. The new control was extremely easy to install and I saved the $200 service call.

The product was as advertised, arrived fast and with out any damage. The item was much cheaper then any place else. Great savings for an already expensive part.

My GE refrigerator was freezing everything no matter where the temperature was set. Found on line trouble shooting and found that the most probable cause was a broken flapper that regulates cold air coming from the freezer. I found the part number, looked it up on Amazon and purchased it. Two days later I had it and installed it in the fridge. Instructions were simple and installation was easy. Works like new now.

Was a very tight fit on my Arctica but hey, it works. This also replaced a previous model # of the part I was looking for so do not be alarmed.

Vinotemp VT-58 Stainless Steel (58) Bottle Beverage Cooler

Vinotemp VT-58 Stainless Steel Bottle Beverage Cooler
  • Under Counter or Free Standing Wine cooler
  • Single glass door design (thermal, double paned)
  • Front exhaust wine cellar, Black exterior
  • Approx. Bottle Capacity: 58

I bought two of these coolers for a bar in our basement. I called Vinotemp many times during my warranty period and they said that the 40 degree low setting was as cold as it would get. I told them that my beverages were not very cold. Finally, I got my own thermometers that showed the inside was 10 degrees warmer than the display setting. My beer was 50-55 degrees. I have over 20 emails back and forth with Vinotemp, along with pictures of the digital thermometers and they kept on telling me they would solve the problem. They absolutely did not and I just pulled them out and will replace them with something else. I have never dealt with a company that I would not trust to any degree or such a poor performing product.

GE MWF Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack

GE MWF Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-PackShipped immediately, took it out of the box, ignored all the instructions and warnings as men do, unscrewed the other one, put this one in, filled up 2 big glasses of water to "flush it" and that was it.

Maybe 5mins worth of effort?

Not sure what else to say in a review of this item, worked great in our GE fridge.

This was the same filter I could have ordered from GE directly, but at a much better price.

The item exactly matches with original filter. The original filter is type GWF "Smart Water Plus" for GE refrigerator type PSS26LGRB WW.

It took hardly couple of minutes to replace the filter. We have observed the new filter for the last few weeks and we have not faced any problem so far.

I read some of the negative reviews and gave this a try anyway. Fearing that I may end up getting a used repackaged product (as mentioned in some of the negative reviews) I made sure to pick up a TDS* water meter/tester as well. Not only to make sure I got a new filter from this seller, but also so I can test the various liquids used around my home.

As I'd mentioned in my review for the TDS* water meter/tester, my tap water is hard so I used the baseline measurement (PPM's) of a bottle of Poland Spring water. My main concern about this filter or my refrigerator water line in general, was that it wasn't going to make too much of a difference drinking water from the tap versus one that came out of this filter. After my baseline measurements, my concerns were put at ease.

Below are results from my tests:

(measurements in PPM)

0-50 = Ideal drinking water

50-100 = Carbon filtered water

100-200 = Hard water

200-300 = Marginally acceptable

200-400 = Average tap water

400+ Very high TDS contaminant level

--My household baseline--

Bottle of Poland Spring = 18

Tap Water = 281

Gatorade = 260

5 month old filter from my refrigerator water line = 240

New filter from my refrigerator water line = 200

Melted ice (4 hours) = 293

So what did I learn from this... My tap water isn't too bad, this particular filter can probably go another month or two, and I really need to clean my ice maker. The good news is that this filter removed 80+PPM's of TDS* from my tap.

*TDS* Total Dissolved Solids are the total amount of mobile charged ions, including minerals, salts, or metals dissolved in a given volume of water.

Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/Black

Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/BlackI bought this coffeemaker after returning my Krups KM7000. Overall, I have been pleased with this model, save for a few quirks. The bottom line is that it makes OUTSTANDING, HOT coffee with great convenience in a design that appears very durable. I have NOT had any problems with getting the pieces together and I do not find it complicated on a day-to-day basis whatsoever.

PROS:

-Coffee is full-bodied and flavorful. I use the 4-cup setting with about 3 cups of water and the strength set to strong. This uses the aroma feature, and the coffee is perfect.

-Temperature is perfect, the hottest I've tasted from a model like this. The base WARMS THE THERMAL CARAFE when the machine goes on, then goes off when the brew is complete. This may theoretically be eliminating the effect of the cooling of hot coffee by a stone-cold carafe. On the other hand, the carafe is highly insulated and it may be doing nothing. The bottom line is that the temperature is perfect, the coffee is still hot even after adding cold milk. The coffee remains hot for quite a while in the thermal carafe.

-Design is quite niceit is self contained as opposed to other mill & brew models that have parts that swing around. The design feels very robust, there are no wimpy plastic bits. There is a piece that fits over the grind basket that has a gear which appears to rotate, likely to keep steam out of the grinder.

-It could not be easier to use on a daily basis all I do is put in THE RIGHT amount of water, put the cover on top of the brew basket, and press program (I have it programmed for the same time every day). After it brews and I pour the coffee, I swing out the basket, pour out the grinds & rinse the basket, rinse the carafe, and I'm ready to go.

-cleaning is simple; I notice others complain but I haven't had any problems. See above for my daily routine; I've been using the brush weekly on the grind spout, it takes two minutes and is not messy.

-The brushed chrome looks great on the counter.

-3 year warranty is reassuring

CONS:

-The grind appears to be too coarse. Other models have a grind control to change the coarseness of the coffee, this one does not. This has improved a little after a few weeks of use, but not completely. Also, I've noticed that (through laws of physics) the coarsest part of the grind stays on top, then the finer grounds work their way to the bottom. This is probably wasting a bit of coffee, but once I worked out how much water to use it doesn't affect the strength. Overall I have not noticed that I am going through coffee faster than before, so I think some of the "coffee wasting" reviews may be somewhat overstated. On first glance it does appear to use a lot of coffee when you are pouring out the grounds, but looking at how many bags I'm going through it doesn't appear much different.

-The mechanism to pour coffee from the carafe is not perfect; it works ok when pouring out from a mostly full carafe, but to get the last cup or two from the bottom I have to take the top off. If I don't it drips all over the counter. Taking the top off I can pour it without any mess.

-The water indicator level is on the right side near the back. If you are putting it against a wall on the left it will be fine, but on my counter it needs to be against a wall on the right, so if I need to look at the water level I need to pull the coffeemaker away from the wall. To get around this I have figured exactly how much water to put in from a measuring cup.

THE BOTTOM LINE (again):

The coffee is excellent, and HOT. The design is marvelous. On a day-to-day basis it is extremely easy to use and convenient. The grind is a bit too coarse, but I don't seem to be going through coffee much faster than before, so this may be a little bit of an illusion. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE STRENGTH OF YOUR COFFEE USING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WATER. I can strongly recommend this coffeemaker if you want hot, convenient, fresh-ground coffee every day. Enjoy!

I chose this grind and brew after reading all of the reviews for this and similar machines. Frankly, I am surprised by the negative comments. This is an easy to use machine once it is set up properly (the bean hopper takes a little of effort to snap in). The coffee tastes great and the parts are very easy to clean quickly. While the instruction book is not clear, Cuisinart was very helpful on the phone. The machine does not know how much water you put in, so if you set it to grind coffee for 6 cups and you have 8 cups of water in it, it will process all 8 cups of water. Other than this small quirk, the machine is a small wonder and I do not feel compelled to go out for coffee in the morning. The thermos carafe will keep the coffee quite warm for a few hours, even when the carafe is not warmed up with hot water. Wondering why it took me so long to go ahead and buy this machine. This is the best model; my neighbor has the first generation/second generation machine which is hard to clean and has a large footprint. Save your money and buy this model!

Now that I have had the machine for a month and a half: It requires some cleaning to get the fine grounds that compress and stop the grinder and ground coffee to get into the filter for brewing. I use a bamboo chopstick and a skewer to break up the compressed fine grounds that impede the machine from working properly. (Unplug the machine and put it over the sink area). I also use compressed air to blow out the fine ground particles. Still, this is a small maintenance to allow for great coffee in the AM.

Buy Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/Black Now

This unit wastes beans.

According to the user manual, if you fill the coffee bean hopper with 1/2 lb of coffee, you can expect "at least" two 12 cup brews. I thought this was a bit conservative but it was confirmed when I made the first pot of coffee. I set the machine for 12 cups and watched as almost half of the beans disappeared on the first pot.

I figure it uses almost 1/4 lb of beans to brew a full pot (12 cups of 5 oz coffee). This is about double what would be used if you followed the directions when using a manual grinder (one scoop of beans per cup using the scoop that comes with this coffee maker).

I think Cusinart kept the grind at very coarse level to ensure proper grind flow in the machine. To compensate, they increased the amount of coffee ground. Thus it uses about 4 oz of beans versus 2.5 oz of beans per 10-12 cup pot. It doesn't sound like much but works out to 60% extra per pot.

I've owned the Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew Coffeemaker and Melitta Mill & Brew Coffee Maker so this is my third unit brew and grind unit. The two previous units has manual bean fill and comparatively good control on the grind. This unit always grinds very very coarse.

Pro: Large Bean Hopper

Easy to clean

Fill level on side (DGB-600BC did not)

Gold filter basket included

3 Year Warranty

Simple operation (for a grind & brew machine)

Seems well constructed

Cons: Grind is always very course

Uses twice as much beans

Carafe pours slow and tends to drip

The coffee tastes OK its not as good as what you can get with a manual grind/brew but consistent with the other Mill & Brew machines I've had. It is well built and I think the 3 year warranty is key because our other Cuisinart grinder motor lasted about 18 months, but its going back because I make about 2 pots/day and this translates into a couple hundred dollars year. Going to try the Capresso 455 or 454.

Update

I've got the Capresso 454 and love it. It can grind from super fine up to coarse and makes a great cup of coffee.

This is a GREAT coffee maker. The primary objections in other reviews I saw were 1) Weak coffee I do not understand this as you can adjust both the strength of the brew as well as the quantity of beans ground (e.g. grind enough beans for 10 cups but only put in 8 cups of water). We have actually had to reduce the strength settings as the strong setting was too rich for my wife ; 2) hard to pour this is somewhat true as the opening on the carafe is very small (to preserve heat), but twisting the top open just slightly solves that problem; 3) coffee not hot enough it is not as hot as what you would get at a specialty coffee shop but it is still hot enough to make very good coffee. We always rinse the carafe and our cups with hot water before we start and that seems to help a lot; We do find that we need to microwave the coffee in the cup if it has been in the carafe for about an hour or more 4) difficult to program or set up it does require being put together properly and it is somewhat more complex than the traditional drip coffee maker, but the setup requires about 20 seconds to master. We leave the settings alone and just pour in water and add beans daily so once it is set up, it is a "no brainer". We have never had problems with grinds being spilled and I suspect that whoever did either had a defective unit, or did not put the basket into the unit properly. My wife forgot to put the filter basket into the unit one time -and it would not grind the beans until she did -great feature.

The combination of a burr grinder, 12-cup capacity, insulated pot (no hot plate to burn the coffee), adjustable coffee strength, and large bean reservoir with ability to specify the number of cups being brewed (no need to measure beans every time you brew) make this a really great coffeemaker.

If your expectations are for a super-hot cup of coffee then you will be disappointed. If you just want an easy-to-use coffee maker that allows you to adjust the coffee strength to your preference (including very strong), then this is a great unit.

Want Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Stainless/Black Discount?

We are very happy with this coffee maker. The things that are not good are that the thermal carafe pours out a very weird thin stream of coffee which takes to long to fill a cup and it is awkward to comepletly emtpy it. It does leave some grindings on the lid but that is not a total problem. The coffee is not as hot because it goes into the cool carafe and that cools it down.

So the point of a thermal carafe is now a drawback. I like my coffee hot so its a draw back for me. Other than that it all works well, stays clean, you do not have to clean the grinder compartment eveyr time you use it. The compartment does not get any steam it in it like the previous one did. We bought ours from Williams Sononma and are trying it out. I think we will keep it but we are still not 100% sure. It makes a good cup of coffee and the grinder works great and the extra beans it holds is a big plus.

Vinotemp 32-Bottle Wine Cooler, Stainless/Black

Vinotemp 32-Bottle Wine Cooler, Stainless/Black
  • Front exhaust system allows for under counter or freestanding installation
  • Thermal pane glass door helps maintain the cooler's interior temperature
  • 6 metal shelves, interior blue LED light, and an external temperature control panel with digital display.
  • Easily level the unit with its adjustable feet
  • Temperature Range: 45-65F

In 2011, we purchased a Vinotemp wine cooler for our office. Within two months the control board failed. The unit was in warranty so it was replaced at Vinotemp's expense. One year later the control board failed again. At this point, the unit was out of warranty. We paid for a repair service (same service recommended by Vinotemp for first repair) to replace the part. The repair service was told the part was no longer available (we paid the service call). I contacted Vinotemp personally and was told the part was out of stock but the part was on back order from China. They originally had received the parts from China, but they were rejected because they did not have the correct voltage. We waited 6 weeks for the part to arrive at Vinotemp and then another 1-1/2 weeks to receive it in our office. During this time, Vinotemp did not contact me to update me on status. In every case, I had to call or email them to determine status on the part. After we received the part, we called the repair service to come and install it. Again, it was defective and again we paid a service call. I contacted Vinotemp to request that they supply us with a new part that worked and I asked that they assume responsibility for cost of the second repair which was required because they had supplied us with a defective part. After emails and phone calls over a four-week period, they notified me that they were sending the part (which they say they had tested), but they refused to pay for the repair costs. This small wine cooler has cost us $270 for repairs and parts. Costs to install another replacement part will be $216. At this point, it's not worth the cost to continue repairing this unit. Vinotemp obviously does not care about promoting good will among their customers and does not utilize reputable or reliable parts suppliers. Run, don't walk, away from Vinotemp!!!

Buy Vinotemp 32-Bottle Wine Cooler, Stainless/Black Now

We were attempting to replace our outdated trash compactor with a useful appliance when we purchased our first wine cooler, a Whynter product. That one failed to maintain temperature (actually would HEAT) after two weeks in place.

This Vinotemp was our second attempt at a wine cooler. We paid about $100 more thinking we were approaching a standard of quality we hadn't reached with the first one. Wrong.

Item arrived in perfect condition; no damage to packaging or the unit itself. I let the unit unit sit for 24+ hours per the instructions to allow any fluids to settle in the compressor then plugged it in the next day. The display did not work whatsoever; the wine cooler compressor fired up but, after about 30 minutes, had stopped and the cooler was doing nothing.

I scoured the Vinotemp website for troubleshooting tips (loose connector on display?) and their website was worthless. Instructions said "Unload the display" without any help or suggestion as to how to go about "unloading" the display. I called Vinotemp, reached voicemail, left a voicemail, and never received a call back.

After all this, I had to load this POS back into the packaging and set it in the driveway for return pickup.

Seller sent automated apologetic email suggesting sometimes items are damaged in shipment but this was not Fedex's fault. I blame Vinotemp.

Steer clear. Vinotemp is known for their "custom wine cellars" not these dinky wine coolers.

Evaporator Motor for Frigidaire 5304445861, 240369701, 5303918549

Evaporator Motor for Frigidaire 5304445861, 240369701, 5303918549Our fridge stopped cooling on the top portion of the freezer side and the fridge side stopped completely. The bottom of the freezer side was still cold though. I did a little research on our fridge model and, given the symptoms and the models history, I was pretty sure that the evaporator motor was the problem. I ordered it while at work without taking the old fan out of fridge (a little risky if I was wrong.)

The new fan motor arrived "next day" which was excellent. For the past couple days we were keeping our refrigerated items in a cooler which is a pain. When you pull the milk out and everything collapses into its spot you spend several minutes just trying to put the milk back in so we did NOT want to wait to get the fridge fixed.

I had to remove about 16 screws out of the sides and back of the freezer (including removing the ice-maker which only had two screws holding it on.) That revealed the fan which was indeed not working. Here is where I had the most difficulty. There are three wires on the unit. One was the ground wire which was easy to pull off, but the disconnects for the other two wires were encased in a U shaped plastic piece. Pulling the plastic piece ended up ripping the disconnects off the old fan motor leaving them still stuck in the plastic U.

It took me several minutes to get the old parts out. I had to push the wires through the plastic U so the connectors were completely exposed, then discovered I had to use something with a sharp point and press through a tiny hole in the middle of the connector while pulling them apart before they would release. That little hole actually locks the pieces together with a little flap of metal. They should have put holes in the plastic U to make the job MUCH easier and to prevent damage to the motor connectors.

The new motor came with new male ends and some heat shrink tubing but I did not need either. The old connectors were still good. I had to pull the wires back into the plastic U and reconnect them. One caution, I had to bend the little locking flap back in on one connector before it would lock onto the new fan. Do yourself a favor and get it locked on BEFORE pulling the wires back into the U (assuming your fridge is the same as my Frigidaire). If you don't do that, you risk having a loose wire that may arc and go bad or you may be pulling the connector back off (like me) to fix the little flap, risking damage to your new motor.

The final problem I had was that there was a lot of "snow" on the top of the coils. I used a heat gun to melt the stuff from the top but I could not see the bottom of the coils because I saw no need to take that extra panel off. Big mistake. All it did was cause the snow to melt from the top, run down a ways and form a BLOCK of ICE further down. I started the freezer up without checking and the next day I was removing that "extra panel" because no air could get through the ice. It took me a few hours to melt all the ice off this time plus an extra day having to use the cooler.

Happily it is now running great! I hope this helps someone else do the job better/easier. It is an easy job to do if you watch for those pitfalls and it will save you a ton of money over paying a professional.

I have never worked on a fridge prior to today.

After doing some research on why my fridge wasn't getting cold I unplugged the fridge, removed the back panel inside the freezer and removed the shelves and brackets to access the old fan. As i suspected from my research the fan had burned out which seems to be a common occurrence. I ordered this replacement evaporator motor on Amazon for a 5 year old Frigidaire Model # FRS26LF7DSB. The price ($26.00) was less than half of what it would have cost ($60.00) on other "replacement parts" websites. I ordered the item on a Monday at 4:55 PM and had it sent overnight for an extra $20 = total of $46.00. The part arrived by 3PM on Tuesday and it took no more than 15 minutes to install. The old motor had wire connectors that could be pulled off. Once this was completed I removed the fan blade and the old motor from the motor housing and inserted the new motor and attached the fan blade. Total time thus far under 5 minutes. The new motor has the same wire connectors as the old one so I just reconnected the wires and put the housing back in the freezer and gave her a try. As soon as I plugged in the refrigerator the motor/fan came on right away. I then unplugged the fridge. Reattached the back panel and shelving brackets/shelves and was done. Total time was under 15 minutes.

If you have the same problem it is an easy and inexpensive fix.

I've never replaced an evaporator motor before, but was very pleased to find the part I needed available for Prime shipping, and with a corroborating reviewer who stated that this was great because it had all the necessary connectors to just snap in the new motor. Well, not so about the one I received. It in fact came with no wires at all (though it did come with something which might be splicing caps, though I truly don't know what they are). I cannot even test it to see if it works.

In fairness -it is exactly as pictured, with no wires attached, just not as another reviewer described. It is totally useless to me.

Product showed up on time. This motor matched my fridge exactly and I could just un plug the bad motor and plug this one in. I purchased a replacement motor from a local dealer but to install it, I would have to splice wires on the connector side and on the motor side. This eliminated all if that.

I installed this n about 10 minutes and it has been working flawlessly for a month. I hope it will be at least 10 years before I need another.

This is my second time replacing this motor hopefully this one will last longer than the last one I purchased (lasted 13 months).

This is a different make than the previous fan I purchased so we will see. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I am gun shy after the last replacement motor I purchased.

It is plug and play and extremely easy to change.

GE purchasers beware! We own this machine and in less than 3 years it has begun leaking and the ice machine doesn't work. After several visits by a repair person (who was very professional and kind) we tried to discuss replacements with GE and were given the option of a new refrigerator with a 'discount' of 500 dollars, plus shipping and handling! Aside from the repair person, customer service has been terrible and time consuming and we will never shop with GE again at this point.

Pros: The full width, but shallow produce/deli drawer is useful and good to have a selectable temp according to what's in it. We set the temp to Deli and keep sliced meats and cheese in it and its perfect for that, wide but shallow so everything is visible. That drawer complements the usual 2 produce drawers which are directly above. Door storage is nicely adjustable. The freezer has an upper drawer that works well for storage.

Cons: The icemaker kicks the ice into the tray with a real racket. Our old Amana made some noise this way, but this one wakes me up some nights. The ice thru the door will splash the drink onto the floor if there is already liquid in the glass (maybe other models do this too). The buttons on the door for controlling the fridge and thru-door functions aren't very good. The buttons are part of a smooth face, but the lighted phrases that indicate the mode are not buttons, the buttons are around the edges and aren't lit. Most folks try to press on the lighted phrases, which is more intuitive. For instance, to get ice thru the door, you have to first look and see if the symbol above "cubed", "crushed", or "water", is lit, and if your desired selection is not lit, you have to press the button marked "ice & water", WHICH IS NOT LIT, until your desired selection is lit. I know how to work it now, but no one new figures it out without help.

I should caveat these cons with the fact that we chose this fridge without trying it out first. We went to a Sears scratch and dent store, where we were able to save $1000 off list, but the models weren't powered up for demo. If I could have tried them powered up and found another model with more intuitive door controls I might have chosen that. But overall it is a very good fridge, especially at the price we paid.
