Emerson Compact Refrigerator

I'm usually overall elaborate with my reviews, but I'll be brief on this particular one since more than likely if you're reading this, you're probably buying this fridge on clearance or it's coming to its end of life cycle.

First the positive aspects of the fridge. Emerson has accomplished what many could not successfully do with other brand models, in that you have a fully functional TRUE freezer space inside a compact fridge. It's amazingly large and can actually fit regular tubs of half gallon ice cream. (The horizontal cartons anyway. Vertical cartons can be laid down on their sides) It can keep things in a solid block of ice if needed, and due to the low volume space of the freezer, it acts as a better ice cube maker.

The fridge has a TRUE FLAT back. No wires are exposed, you can literally sit it against the wall. The trick is that Emerson ran the cooling coil around the fridge, so that the heat sink is actually on its sides and bottom. They then covered it with thin plastic on all sides. The fridge is warm to the touch, but never hot because of this.

With positives come negatives of course. The fridge itself would be comparable to 3.9cu Ft models, but because of the enclosed freezer door, it is cut down to total 3.1cu Ft. (2.2cu Ft for space, 0.9 for freezer)

The fridge is HEAVY. It's 57.5lbs is not entirely accurate. Although I don't have an exact measurement, it definitely is a lot heavier than similar compact fridge models. Typically other models would be around 45lbs.

The refrigerator space is surprisingly weak compared to the very powerful freezer space. I'm assuming the motor that it uses is the same one on other fridges, so they implemented more research onto keeping the freezer cold, but not the fridge as cold. If you're a person who likes ICE cold drinks, you'll be in for some disappointment.

Neutral things that you can see positive or negative are follows.

It runs quiet, but runs constantly. The freezer needs to be kept in check and because it uses such a small motor, it has to keep running.

It has key locks. This can be useful if you want to keep alcohol in the fridge, but if you LOOSE your keys. Well, good luck.

Its unusual weight is placed onto four peg legs. If you have sensitive flooring, this can cause dents.

In the end, I like the fridge but don't love the fridge. It's definitely pretty, quiet, and has good freezer space. It's also heavy, runs constantly, and has limited fridge space for its size. This is a true MINI FRIDGE. Take that for what it is.

Although I reviewed this fridge back in November 2008, I actually had the fridge in May. Now is past the 2 year point and I'm happy to say the fridge is still going strong. I decided to update the review since I saw how many people found this helpful and I wanted to make sure my words didn't loose meaning over time.

First of all this fridge is available in retail chains. So for those of you who are getting bad shipments, I suggest you simply go pick it up. It's a shipping issue between you and the vendor; not Emerson and their fridge.

Second Always remember that this fridge's big selling point is the freezer space. The fridge space isn't any different from other mini-fridges you happen to come across.

For those of you who have actually e-mailed me about the "flat back" yes, this fridge literally has a flat back. The cooling coil you find on most fridges (take a look behind your big one in your kitchen for example) was covered up by Emerson on this model, so it runs around the fridge but is covered by that black thick plastic material you see in the picture. It's really sleek, and very useful for those who want to shove the fridge in a corner with it's back facing outward. KEEP IN MIND for safety reasons, you should still give the fridge some breathing room around the edges.

Still a great fridge, still love mine. I would gladly pick up another one if I actually needed another one. This little guy isn't an Energy Star fridge, but almost no mini-fridge is unless it's those horrible coolers they pass off as fridges now-a-days. Thanks for reading as always.

You can purchase this through target, which may save you on shipping. They also have more reviews on there website than this one does. I ended up going to target. I asked them to open the package to make sure it wasn't damaged since most complained about this, the one I had didn't have any damage. This isn't real stainless steel, more of a look a like. It does have a lock, but my friend told me that you could go to the hardware store and buy the so called "key" (it's not a real key), so if you have a smart roommate this may not work. I like how it has 2 doors. The freezer gets cold. This is a little noisy. 1st off, I didn't keep this, b/c I found one similar that I liked better at walmart (SPT brand)--they have it on amazon as well, and i reviewed it on here. I think the soda holder can be a pro/con depending on if you have a use for it, I didn't. Doesn't hold a quarter of a gallon of milk unless you lay it on the side on the shelf or take the wire shelf out. I like the light inside.

As the title says, this refrigerator stopped working after 16 months of not-so-sincere serving. I think the compressor is not working anymore I still hear the sound of the motor but the spaces (top & bottom) never get cold. This malfunctioning happened while I was away I had to throw away every single food I had in this machine :(

About the product:

It has a very weak refrigerator space and a strong freezer space as somebody has mentioned below. How weak it is: you don't want to keep milk in the refrigerator. It won't last till its expiration date. Rather, the milk will get fermented. The freezer is quite strong, holds lots of food compared to its limited space. The machine itself is quite.

I don't think I am ever going to buy the same product again even if the price is lower than what I paid before; I paid about ~$130 for this product.

I had a mini fridge in my room for a year and it broke so I replaced it with this Emerson one. I love it, the Freezer gets very very very cold, as well does the refrigerator part. You can store lots of things in it, and it even has its own storage compartment for fruits and cold cuts!

This unit was fairly cheap, so I guess I got what I paid for. It died after just four months of use: compressor works, but no longer cools, so it must be a refrigerant problem or something. I called customer service for Emerson, since it was still under warranty, and the replacement process is rather burdensome. I give Emerson an F for service/replacement.

I had never heard of such a device as the Chillin' Pour and likely would not have bought one before I was introduced to it and now I love the idea. My circle of friends are big fans of Jimmy Buffet and his songs. We get together often for dinner parties, pool parties or just to talk and we have a nice selection of appetizers and adult beverages. The Chillin' Pour is the perfect thing to create fun party drinks for the whole gang and just large enough for our group to sample a few.

Unfortunately the first time I plugged it in my margaritas did not change temperature after chillin' for over 5 hours. I wrote an email to the manufacturer explaining what happened and asking for advice. They acknowledged my email within a day from then gave me EXCELLENT customer service to resolve the problem.

So how do I like it? I love it. There are certain mixed drinks that don't do well with ice. For me those are the best to make in the Chillin' Pour. Things like Lemon Drops, Daiquiris, Manhattans, Appletinis, Whiskey Sour, etc. When served at the colder-than-ice temperature of 15 degrees they are especially good.

The Chillin' Pour is easy to use, very cool to look at, dispenses only the amount you want, and easy to clean. The retro compass that projects where to put your glass doubles as an indicator of when the Chillin' Pour has reached maximum cold.

Maybe the only suggestion I would give the manufacturer for their next generation is a swing-up carrying handle. One of the most fun things about it is to take it to our friends' houses already cold and ready to pour.

Five stars for the product and fifty-stars for the manufacturer's great service!

A minimalist explanation of this product is that it cools your drinks-supercools them. Does it make drinks? No-it's not a blender. You can pour in pre-blended drinks and they'll come out super-chilled, but it takes some time. Same with liquors: we poured in most of a bottle of good tequila and waited awhile-several hours to reach the minimum temperature- and had some nice shots, maybe the coldest I've enjoyed.

It's a fun product, but not for everyone. A good blender and some ice will meet most of your needs for less dough: it's also easier to clean, faster, and better for large quantities of drinks for medium-size to large parties. That said, there may be a place at your home bar for this clever gadget. As a dispenser of chilled shots for a small party, it's ideal.

OK, so I bought this to chill my Tequilla for a New Years Party. I thought this was cool, but come to find out it only chills 25 oz. at a time... don't know about you, but my friend & I (about 15 of us) all do shots of Tequilla, and this product will yield less than two per person!

2 Hours to cool, 4 hours to 15 degrees... ok, I can work with that, but when it only takes 25 oz of liquid, at a party, you will have a problem! Lots of mess to clean up when I can put my bottles in the freezer just as easily!

Sorry, but I am sending this back. Now give me one of these that holds 1.75 litre of liquor and I am sold. This product is not worth the price paid and I am disappointed.

So I bought this product here for $50 bucks about 2 months ago. When I took it out of the box I thought it was the coolest thing in the world... thats where the fun stopped. I plugged it in added some rum and 6 hours later it was "ready." BTW the freezer does it in a shorter amount of time. this works by cooling a metal box, under the thin plastic lid, to a cool "15" F. the problem with the design is the box is completely flat with a 1/4 inch rubber o ring in the middle connecting to the dispenser. This means when you want to switch from rum to vodka you have about a shot or two of the old rum stuck in the box with no where to go. so the other night I poured a bunch of vodka into the dispenser and 6 hours later it was still about 50 degrees... looks like mine stopped working. trying to return it now.

Not impressed. Other than creating a cold shot after many hours of waiting, so you can mix your drink, I found no advantage to this machine and am now trying to figure out some use for it that will justify the purchase. Kinda surprised that Margaritaville would sacrifice their good name for this product.

I bought two of these coolers for a bar in our basement. I called Vinotemp many times during my warranty period and they said that the 40 degree low setting was as cold as it would get. I told them that my beverages were not very cold. Finally, I got my own thermometers that showed the inside was 10 degrees warmer than the display setting. My beer was 50-55 degrees. I have over 20 emails back and forth with Vinotemp, along with pictures of the digital thermometers and they kept on telling me they would solve the problem. They absolutely did not and I just pulled them out and will replace them with something else. I have never dealt with a company that I would not trust to any degree or such a poor performing product.

We've had our new dishwasher for two weeks. It is EXTREMELY quiet and seems to hold more than our previous KitchenAid DW of 15 years as we don't seem to wash a load as often. One difference from our previous...even after having the "Heat/Dry" cycle ON, my first load left the dishes and stainless steel interior WET, whereas, I was used to them both being bone-dry. Could be the new technology doesn't dry them the same way. Anyway, I then added a rinse agent per the instructions that it would help with drying, and it did. Now the dishes and interior are much drier. Secondly, I had read previous comments about the outside control buttons being sensitive if you brush up against them--and they are! I have frequently 'started' the DW by accident. So I now keep the child Control Lock ON and only turn it off when I need to start a load. I also moved the upper rack up to the higher level to allow cookie sheets and larger items on the bottom rack, which still leaves plenty of room on the upper rack. The silverware caddy is ample but doesn't have a place for long items like my old one did. Other than that, I'm happy with it.

we have had three refrigerators--first two had complete ice maker failures, did not cool below 40 in the refrigerator, doors did not line up. if you buy this, you will get to know Electrolux customer service by first name. Don't do it.

1. During installation, the installer had propped the door against the side of the truck while removing the refrigerator from the truck. I saw the door start to fall to the asphalt and yelled a warning. The installer quickly reached out and grabbed for the door, managing to grab the drinking water tube and save the door from crashing to the ground. In the process he kinked the drinking water hose.

2. We requested a repair technician come to the house to replace the water tube and repair the icemaker, which was not making ice. The ice had somehow melted and froze into a block inside the cube container. He worked on the icemaker by removing it, examining parts, following certain protocols. He repaired what appeared to be the source of the problem and said it should now be in working order. The technician examined the tube and worked and straightening the kink. He then declined to replace the tube, saying that it would be okay.

3. Within a week or two the icemaker would only emit crushed ice, not ice cubes. The repair technician returned and spent considerable time on it, including conversing via phone with Electrolux technical support. He and they determined that some sort of part was not working properly and ordered a new part. The part arrived in about a week, and he replaced it. The icemaker then worked properly.

4. About two months ago, the ice cube container froze up again. I managed to remove it and break out the frozen block of cubes as the technician had shown me how to do. I replaced the container and it worked fine until...

5. About two weeks ago, the icemaker stopped producing cubes and would only produce crushed ice. We called Broad View Appliance and requested assistance. Because we were into the extended warranty period, we had to call and argue with the extended warranty people, who were concerned that we were at fault. We finally got permission to use the warranty to fix the icemaker that had failed for a third time. We made an appointment for a week later. The day before the appointment, the icemaker began making ice again, and we call Broad View, saying we should wait.

6. Within a few days the icemaker would only produce small, watery, almost melted cubes. In addition, other anomalies occurred. I've listed the problems current this week below:

a. Cubes are small and slushy, and only a few come out.

b. The digital read-out on the front panel lit a small red light on the upper right side of the panel, indicating, "hi temp".

c. The temperatures on the face read 5 degrees for the freezer and 39 degrees for the refrigerator. These were the temps the technician had set months ago, and they had remained the same. However, because of the hi temp reading, I followed the book's instructions and reset the panel to the factory default settings. The default temps are 4 degrees and 38 degrees.

d. Within an hour of resetting the defaults, the digital numbers were replaced by the word ICE on the left and an incomplete reading of the number 63 on the right. "Incomplete" means that two of the digital "lines" that make up the numbers were missing. The book had not explanation for this. I again reset the default settings. I visited Broad View, explained the problem and rescheduled a repair appointment for this morning.

e. Now, every few hours, the panel reads ICE and 63 degrees. Then with no action from me, after a few minutes, the readout changes to reflect the default settings. It appears to me that the digital components are failing, or some part of the computer's system has failed. This might involve warming and cooling of the icemaker, resulting in small slushy cubes or crushed ice.

f. The icemaker continues to make only a few small slushy cubes.

First POS had numerous problems with ice maker. Thankfully, after the 5th complaint, Electrolux brought us a new one. The one is just as bad the ice maker works, but the refrigerator is constantly warm. It is set at 35 degrees, but the internal tempreature is in the 40's. Total piece of garbage.

I ordered this lint screen because the original one needed replacing. The photo looks NOTHING like the product I received and after using it two or three times it started falling apart. I had to basically put it back together to use it until I found another replacement. The items was shipped to me quickly and the price was comparable with other items but it was basically a "bait and switch" and I am not happy about that.

The felt pulls out of the plastic and it becomes partially functional filter. This filter has a better design and works very well. I didn't receive my filter in the mail ,after a week and and a half, so this seller rushed a replacement filter. Customer service at it's finest. A joy to do business with.

How do you rate a lint screen ? It works. It's basically screen on a plastic frame that replaces the cheap piece of junk installed in the original dryer. It shipped quickly, although the shipping charge seemed a bit steep.

We have one in the pantry and it is great for the costco-sized food we buy. We put one shelf in w/ the back up one notch higher than the front for soda pop indispensing, except the "rows" of cans get horqued up. Occasionally, it seemed like the fan and cooling would shut off. Then the fan started making all kinds of noise. I replaced it rather easily after BUYING a new one. After another month, it would regularly stop completely. The light is on, but neither the fan or compressor work. Basically, I think the components are cheap and unreliable.

This commercial grade fridge is actually pretty nice, but first the important news that any potential buyer (or current new owner) should know! This fridge has a 12-hour defrost cycle which is not well documented and it may catch you by surprise, as you might think your fridge is broken... So the issue is that NOWHERE in the documentation does it say that it's expected that the fridge will WARM up during this defrost cycle every 12 hours! During each defrost cycle the fridge goes from a very stable 38F, then rises to 60F after about 30 minutes, then kicks on again to cool back down. The product docs/specs only mention that it has a 12 hour auto-defrost cycle, period... Again, NO mention about the fact that it is typical for the fridge to get THAT warm! Also beware that during this defrost cycle the fridge will become quite humid and everything in it gets moist with condensation. I have validated this information with Frigidaire/Electrolux commercial product customer service and asked that they update their product materials to clearly state this behavior to customers. Also let it be known, that this is still considered a "food safe" fridge, as it does conform to FSIS standards (which baffles me, as warming, cooling and humidifying food is more NOT food safe than anything else). In any case, since it does this, I would NOT recommend this fridge for extended food storage. I use it strictly for drinks, which it is excellent for.

Now onto the good things about this fridge. It is very sleek, stylish, well built, and it's HUUUUUGE on the inside, so you have TONS of wide open and easy to access storage. The shelves are simple to adjust, and I put some of the racks at a slight angle so when a soda is removed from a 12-can "fridge pack" style box the next one rolls forward for a nice "auto-dispensing" feel. The door seals itself nicely when closed, and if you level it properly, you'll never accidentally have it slightly open, unless you don't even get it close to closed of course. Also, it isn't all that loud for being a commercial unit, but it is certainly much louder than a standard fridge, so I wouldn't keep this in the kitchen or anywhere else where you would like it to be quiet (I keep mine in the garage so I never hear it in the house). The insulation seems quite good as well, since it holds a stable 38F even on sweltering hot summer days when the garage can heat up to 90F or higher for long periods of time.

If I would have known about the details of the auto-defrost cycle and that I couldn't keep food in here long term (or dry age steaks, which was what I originally wanted to do with this fridge), I would have looked elsewhere. At least I got this at a great price since it was a floor model, but for just a drink fridge, I would have been pretty angry if I had paid full MSRP for this.

Bought to replace older(10yr) magnetic sealing gasket on a True Refrigerator(model # TS-35). I am really happy with it. It took less than 5 minutes to pull out the old one and replace with new. It fit perfectly and seals door very well.

Filter left a very strong plastic taste to drinking water.

Instructions stated to flush filter for 3-5 minutes before use.

I flushed for over an hour and still the water was not drinkable.

You get what you pay for. Trying to save a few bucks here was not

worth the aggravation.

I purchased two of these filters last year for my Frigidaire. After about a day the water started to taste like a dusty vacuum cleaner. I thought maybe the one filter was defective so I put the other one in and had the same result. I finally read some of the reviews here and found out that some people were having the same issue. I took the advice of one of the review writers and bought the Frigidaire brand filter at Appliance Zone online (). It cost a little more but was well worth the money, the item shipped very quickly and there is now more "vacuum" taste.

In the box, you'll find the filter specified, and the filter is the right one it is a match for the filter that I was replacing (Frigidaire RF100). Also in the pack, you'll find a very small packet of Silicone Lubricant to use on the rubber o-rings of the filter (don't over-do it with the silicone, or your water will taste AWFUL). There are two o-rings associated with the filter; one at the top (this can be seen in the product image) and one that is placed in the bottom of the filter cup to form a solid seal with the filter housing. The replacement bottom o-ring is incredibly small, and is nowhere near sufficient. I assembled the filter per the directions listed on the package. Once I turned the icemaker water back on, I had water all over the inside of the fridge. I had to dig the old o-ring out of the trash and reuse it in the filter cup (after a thorough washing, of course).

I have the Frigidaire Gallery FRS26ZSH side-by-side. The issue with the ill-fitting o-ring may not be an issue for other models. Good luck with yours!

In response to other reviews I have not noticed a plastic flavor. I didn't soak the filter, but I did run about 20 pints through the dispenser before I even tasted the water. With the old sealant ring installed, I have had no issues with water leaking.

You adjust the humidity to the needs of what you buy instead of adjusting your buying to the design of the fridge. What's really cool is the unique edge design system that this fridge has. You can go to the edge along the sides with storage so every available space is used and with the door ice bin that extra tray of party favorites has plenty of room. You can also remove the bin to take the ice to the guests and fill up the cooler or ice cream freezer when making ice cream.

I like the large crisper humidity controls that help with carrots and celery sticks or sliced veggie pin wheels. You can keep everything nice and fresh without the rot and burn associated with temperature and dry cooling associated with other systems on the market.

When it comes to the freezer you slide the divider bin to make room for extra large bulk food or several small freezer items. This refrigerator was working for the first week then the ice maker stopped working. It has been six weeks since I bought this refrigerator and every week there's a tech working on this ice maker. They have replace and install different parts and cannot make the ice maker work. The company states that they need to do more repairs before they replace it, but this is not worth your time and money. Do not buy this brand, it's better to do another company that will take care of this problem in two weeks and not wait six to eight weeks before they decide to exchange the refrigerator. The refrigerator has the space and the flexibility to store many things, but is not worth having all the issues with it.

Frigidaire : IM115 Ice Maker Kit

I have a Frigidaire frig that didn't come with and ice maker. I really didn't need one for awhile because I needed the extra freezer space. I just bought an up right freeze and realized I could now get an ice maker. I found this one and decided to buy it since it wasn't that expensive(I was thinking they would cost a lot more). It took me about 20-25 minutes to install it. It took me a little long because I couldn't find the wire for the solenoid. The wire on my frig was cable tied to the back of the frig's coils. Got it all hooked up and its making ice. Now I don't have to make sure I always have cold drinks in the frig.

Bought this icemaker to replace my factory original one. It works better then the factory one my fridge came with. It does a excellent job. Works great with the culligan water ice filter i bought also to compliment it.

I recommend you buy the kit instead of the ice maker alone. The pump/acuator and new tubing. Make my old icemaker a new one. Performance is alot better than the old one.

This was an install on a fridge that did not have an ice maker when originally purchased. The directions were good but good have been more detailed on the water delivery tube, it needs to be inserted 90 degrees counter clockwise and then turned clock-wise to be locked into position.

For the most part I am really happy with this product. The installation was really easy, until I got to the point of installing the "leveling bracket". When I attempted to install the leveling bracket I found that there was no screw hole on the on the bottom of the icemaker to accommodate the bracket. (This is where I become disgruntled with the seller of this product.) I contacted the seller for technical support and was told by their customer service that they only sell the product, they don't offer any technical support and I needed to contact Frigidaire or hire a professional to complete the installation. Not good customer service in my opinion.

I went on to complete the installation and put a piece of Styrofoam between the icemaker housing and the freezer wall to "level" out the icemaker. The icemaker is in and works really well. The price is good compared to other sellers and as an after-market install its really easy to do .

When will I ever learn? I ordered this online direct from Frigidaire a/k/a Electrolux on their web site. Cost more and delivery was slow. When it arrived one of the 2 items I ordered (the water line installation kit) was missing entirely. After much time on hold and transferring around, I finally spoke to a customer service person who said it would be refunded to my charge card. It was not. Furthermore, the unit they did send (this icemaker) did not work, and did not include the right parts for my refrigerator. Three weeks AFTER I disputed the charge, the second item was received in the mail -long after I had already purchased it locally. And, to compound the incompetence, they sent me the WRONG item in that delivery.

Close to the worst customer service ever. I will never again purchase from Electrolux directly.

Now to Amazon. As usual, terrific service. Got the correct part very quickly and at a better price. Very easy to install, and works like a charm. Need to remember to shop Amazon first every time.

I'll close with a plug for PayPal. I paid Electrolux with their service. Although it is slow, their dispute resolution process works, and I received a full refund, including all shipping costs.

It should have been obvious from the delivery that this fridge was a mistake! The fridge broke after 1.5 weeks. But while it was "working", the wrap they use to protect the fridge during delivery won't come off, the ice dispenser sprayed ice everywhere but into the cup, the freezer drawers got stuck, and the list goes on. Meanwhile, it's taken GE a week and three (four hour) appointments to admit I need a new fridge and they're saying another week to deliver it. Their customer service offered $100 and a half hearted apology for the inconvenience. For the price and the awful customer service, you're better off without a GE.

I've had my G.E. profile for slightly less than 4 years. The drawers have broken, the ice makers leaks down the refrigerator and onto the floor, the temperature control does not control the temperature on either side and the freezer thaws intermittently and my TV dinners get soggy, (all this began in the fist 6 months) and yesterday both the refrigerator and the freezer gave out and stopped cooling. It still makes an excellent nightlight though. Oh and the ice maker gets clogged and then won't make ice. A little research on the net and I have discovered the motherboard breaks on these puppies and they stop cooling. Figure a $700 bill for that, and figure the new mother board will last you about 2-4 years. This is a pervasive problem. If you figure one in every 10 people who have this same problem with their G.E. Profile's, write a complaint on line, then it's pretty much... yeah, everybody whose had one for 4 years. You'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 years from this machine if your gullible enough to buy it. It's total garbage. When looking on line for reviews, do not trust the # of stars, you have to read the actual reviews because most of the people writing the reviews do so within a month or two of getting their appliance--sometimes the day it arrives. What the heck use is that? (this is true of all appliances) Of course they're satisfied with their purchase in the first month. Read reviews from people who have had the machine for YEARS and that will tell you something. Now I have to figure out what to buy next because I'm not even going to bother fixing this P.O.S.

I love this fridge. It is a very large unit. The only downfall is that it lacks ice productivity. I just keep a bag of ice on the freezer. I've had this unit for almost 8 months now.
