Have gone through two of these refrigerators. The first one shook and squeaked like crazy every time we opened its door. The repair tech's solution was to "level" the fridge. They "leveled" the fridge over 10 times in 18 months. The first fridge also frequently made a very loud, random clicking noise. The noise could be heard over the TV, movies, etc... It was extraordinarily disturbing, especially when the family is trying to have a quiet dinner or even watch a movie in the living room. After going through hell (about 20-30 hours on the phone and over a dozen useless, failed service calls) GE finally replaced the fridge (only because the developer of our new house forced the local sales rep to replace it; GE customer service basically told us to F-off). And the new fridge makes an even louder clicking sound! WTF?!
Avoid ALL GE products like the plague. They are a worthless company that doesn't give a rat's a55 about customer service and cares even less about taking thousands of your hard-earned dollars in exchange for a useless product that is designed to fail miserably.

I've had this G.E. profile for slightly less than 4 years. It was OK at first. But in the first year two of the drawers have broken, the ice makers leaks down the refrigerator and onto the floor, the temperature control does not control the temperature on either side and the freezer thaws intermittently and my TV dinners get soggy, and yesterday both the refrigerator and the freezer gave out and stopped cooling. It still makes an excellent nightlight though. Oh and the ice maker gets clogged and then won't make ice. A little research on the net and I have discovered the motherboard breaks on these puppies and they stop cooling. I mean I have literally found DOZENS of unhappy owners who have had their machines no more than 4 years. Some less than one year and the cooling system stops. Figure a $700 bill for that, and figure the new mother board will last you about 1-4 years before it breaks too. This is a pervasive problem. If you figure one in every 10 people who have this same problem with their G.E. Profile's, write a complaint on line, then it's pretty much... yeah, everybody whose had one for 4 years. You'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 years from this machine. (by the way, G.E. dishwashers suck too. I know, I got a house full of new high end G.E. appliances furnished by the builder and I've had trouble with the dishwasher (recalled) the dryer and especially this dog of a refrigerator. A word of advice: When looking on line for reviews, do not trust the # of stars, you have to read the actual reviews because most of the people writing the reviews do so within a month or two of getting their appliance--sometimes the day it arrives. What the heck use is that, I ask you? (this is true of all appliances) What can they tell you on day one? It arrived fast? It's pretty? Yeah that's gonna matter in a year when your shrimp and steaks are all thawed and the freezer is leaking all over the floor and the dog is licking the puddle. Try to read reviews from people who have had the machine for YEARS and that will tell you something.Nice refrigerator and looks nice with the rest of the stainless steel appliances. The ice maker is kind of noisy and sometimes it has trouble detecting that the tray is already full of ice. We previously had a GE refrigerator and it also had trouble with the ice maker. Other than that, we like the side by side refrigerator because it is taller than some of the other ones we looked at.Please do your self a favor and get a different refrigerator. Had mine for 4 years. It has been repaired 3 times. It over frosted and would not cool, ice maker does not work properly, and this last time I am told there is no fixing the problem it just will not cool to below 50 degrees. Paying this much for something I expect it to last longer and do what it is supposed to do. Not happy at all! Oh, and repairmen have stated the model is too difficult to work on and have had 2 walk away. If you do buy it despite it's bad feedback good luck, you will need lots of it.We purchased this fridge (slightly older version) and within about 4 years, it started to have the problems other reviewers have noticed. Intermittent thawing and then the fridge and freezer stopped cooling completely. We were given a discounted repair rate as this was a problem across the board. Then we had the puddling in the bottom of the fridge and today, we are expecting our second call in 5 months to repair the problem again even after the new kit was installed (again we paid for the repair at a discounted rate as this was another issue for these models). I have to say that we have been treated nicely by GE Customer Service, but honestly, I would steer clear of this fridge. It matched our builder installed other appliances and needed to be shallow depth so we spent more on it (shallow depth models are MUCH more expensive for some reason) than any other fridge/appliance we've ever had and it has been the least reliable and most troublesome appliance we have ever owned-GE or otherwise.Monday, July 14, 2014
AE-Select Replacement part 4389102 Refrigerator P.C. Control Board Kit for Whirlpool
Replacement of the two optics boards took about five minutes: three screws on each side of the freezer compartment, disconnect and remove the optics panels, remove the screws holding the circuit boards in place (one on the left panel, two on the right panel), remove the circuit boards, and reassemble with the new boards by reversing the process. You can watch this step-by-step process online -just search on YouTube for the part number, 4389102.
The kit also supplies a wiring diagram and diagnostic instructions for the new circuit boards, and a suggestion where to save them in the base plate of the refrigerator along with the other diagrams stored there.
I have had this optics kit installed since June 29, 2012. The icemaker has been functioning like new since then.
So how do you know if you need to replace the optics? Do a diagnostic test:
Check that the icemaker on/off switch (right side of freezer compartment) is ON. Look at the red status light next to the on/off switch. You should see the flight flash twice and repeat the double-flash every second. Now close the left side flapper and don't block the light path from the right side where the red status light is. The red status light should stop flashing and come on steady. If it is still flashing, your optics may be blocked -or they might be bad, like mine were. You might want to wait 5 minutes then unplug the refrigerator for 10 seconds to reset the ice maker control board and try the diagnostic again.
If the light still won't come on steady, you can check the rest of the icemaker by bypassing the optics system. USE CAUTION, as the optics connections are live -unplug the refrigerator for safety while bypassing the system. First remove the right side optics panel (3 screws). Next, disconnect the cable plug from the refrigerator going to the optics panel. Now jump 2 specific connections on the refrigerator's plug (I cut a large paper clip and insulated the middle for this purpose). The correct 2 wires to jump are next to each other and may be identified by color: black, and black-with-white. Turns out my model used different colors, but I found online that the correct wires can be identified as the ones immediately below the bottom-most hole on the plug where no wire is connected (there are 4 wires next to each other filling up the rest of the plug below the hole). I found a description and photos of this bypass operation on the ApplianceJunk (Appliance Repair Help) website by Googling the three words: 4389102 jumper paperclip (4389102 is the part number of this optics kit). If the only thing wrong with your icemaker was the optics system, your icemaker will eventually make ice again (24 hours or less -mine took about 2 hours). Note: once the icemaker starts, it won't stop making ice while the jumper is in place, so don't let the icemaker keep going too long or it will overfill the bin and cause problems! This is the second request from Amazon to review this item, so here goes again for the 2nd time: The module controls arrived within two days after ordering (Web site said delivery could take from 5 to 14 days, so when it arrived in 2 days I was pleasently suprised. Once Module controls were installed within hours the ice maker was making ice and within two day the ice bin was full. The time between cycles is shorter so therefore I'm getting ice quicker than before. GREAT SERVICE, Items received are exactly as described and shown on web site.

These boards were as-described, installed easily, and work exactly as the originals did (prior to failure). I was hesitant to purchase them due to the low price compared to factory replacements or parts website prices but the transaction worked out great.Installed on Kenmore branded whirlpool refrigerator. Symptom was slow to no ice production. Purchased thermometers first to check temperature which was fine. Dropped first ice about 10 minutes after installation. Installed a couple of weeks ago and has been working great, the ice bin is full. The original broken optics board was blinking twice, once second pause, repeat with no change blocking/unblocking the sensor. The original board would still make ice intermittently / erratically, though not enough to keep us in ice and we'd run out.Want AE-Select Replacement part 4389102 Refrigerator P.C. American Retro AR-15002 Classic Coca-Cola Refrigerated Machine
It has an adjustable thermostat, and is built like a tank. I was worried about it arriving with scratches and dents all over it, seeing as how UPS and FedEx practice their soccer skills on our packages, but luckily it arrived in great shape. The other reviewer said that the lid doesn't shut all the way. I think he got a bad one, because mine shuts fine. Also, when the compressor kicks on, it's not that loud. It's no louder than a fan.
Anyway, I would definately recommend buying this. Coca-Cola is timeless. I just wish they made Coke in glass bottles on a grander scale in the US and made it more readily available in grocery stores. The machine looks and functions great. You'll love it!I love this! I purchased this retro coke frig on Amazon.com and got it within the week. UPS wasn't gentle with it, so it left a tiny bump near the bottom but that was something that I was okay with and I will tell you why. The machine is amazing! Yes, it makes a small amount of noise when it is cooling but when the drinks are at the ice cold temp they need to be, the unit stops chilling until the temp drops again. Then it goes back on. I've had it for several weeks now and the machine works beautifully! The door closes tight and it's all in perfect working condition. I would buy it again!
The soda we get out of the machine is ice cold and ready to drink. My 17 year old son loves it! We love especially buying glass bottles for this unit as we can find them in the local grocery stores. I see the parts are interchangeable with the original unit this was modelled form. This retro model arrived to us new, a remake of an original unit. That means, we didn't have problems of rust or anything like that.
This machine has inspired me to turn our entire dining room into a retro coke look. Am I glad I purchased it? Yes! My husband is not a retro buff and says "there's the frig!" No thanks. When I reach in to get myself a diet coke in a glass bottle, my memories go back to being 6 and my dad letting me reach into the machine and so I could pick the ice cold soda pop I wanted.
A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++!! :o) Well done, American Retro!

Looks absolutly great and authentic. A little bit louder than A regular refridgerator. The seller delivered on time as promised. Very happy I purchased it. The item actually looks like the old machines that I have seen on the new TV series "Pawn stars," and "American restoration," that are actually selling for Thousands of Dollars.Want American Retro AR-15002 Classic Coca-Cola Refrigerated Machine Discount?
The machine looks fantastic. Beautiful paint job and all of the wording is raised and painted. My biggest problem is that is seems to run all the time, which means it is not well insulated or the compressor is crummy. I get a lot of condesation around the top also.Thursday, February 27, 2014
Vinotemp 34-Bottle Touchscreen Wine Cooler
- Holds 34 bottles
- Strong black metal construction
- Lockable touchscreen controls with LED readout
- Free-standing unit, not for built-in use
- 6 chrome wire racks plus bulk drawer
This is a perfectly fine cooler to store wine for short term (less than a year). It does not hold the stated 34 bottles of wine unless you have all small bordeaux style bottles. I can fit about 28 burgundy style bottles with ease. It is as quiet/noisy as I'd expect for a compressor model. It maintains it's temperature, and the compressor maintains better humidity than do the thermoelectric models. For what I was looking for, at the price, I'm very satisfied. This is not something to age your wine. It is designed to protect your wine in the SHORT term from common household temperature fluctuation. I recommend it.
Pros: price, attractive, operates with ease.
Cons: a little noisy, poor shelving design, glass is not tinted to protect from light, no lock on door.
Buy Vinotemp 34-Bottle Touchscreen Wine Cooler Now
This is a pretty nice looking cellar that has a fairly low pricePros:
1. attractive
2. good temp control
3. good price (can actually be bought more cheaply at costco...sorry amazon)
4. NOT thermoelectric...will probably last longer
Cons:
1. doesn't really hold 34 bottles UNLESS you only have bordeaux/cabernet. doesn't fit pinot noir/chardonnay/burgundy style bottles in the same quantity
2. NOT thermoelectric, so if you're really worried about vibration, there will be some. It should be noted that there isn't really any evidence that vibration alone will cause flaws in your wine, most of this is anecdotal or theoretical. Mine did come with little foam dampers on the edge of each rack, so hopefully that absorbs some of the minimal vibration from the compressor

Bought one, about 30 min ago, and I put it right back in my car. It's going back tomorrow.I couldn't get 5 cab bottles to fit crossways. Turning shelves over doesn't help because you can't fit bottles in the shelf below if you try. The spacing is so tight that you have no options if you're storing anything but the most narrow bottles. (And even those are jammed in... to the point that they're interfering with bottles on the shelf above.) You can't space things out with 4 bottles because the shelves won't allow it. If you invert the shelves, you have to do it with all of them, and the wire support frame won't let the bottles sit nicely.
Non-cab bottle types means you can fit 3 bottles per shelf. They really took any extra room out, and it's a shame. 1/4 inch wider and this thing would be really nice. But it's not. It's a cheap piece of junk.

We got ours at Costco about 4 months ago since it was a bit cheaper, plus the return policy cannot be beat.Non-standard bottles will give you an issue, but nothing major, just have to learn where to place them, top or bottom. It will also might not fit all 34 bottles, but it will be somewhere between 25-30.
Noise? Yes, it does make some noise, but nothing disturbing, or at least not any louder than our current fridge. What it gets me, it tends to make difference noises at different times. But nothing that will keep me from sleeping or watching the TV (wine fridge is in kitchen, next door to living room, no door).
We love it and are very happy with the purchase, it works as advertise!
If you are looking for an inexpensive wine fridge, this is it.This unit would work well for individuals with a case or two of wine. It is aesthetically appealing and the temperature controls are well designed, unfortunately it falls short of holding 34 bottles. If you are storing wider based Burgundy bottles you can squeeze about 21 in it. A mixture of slimmer based Bordeaux style bottles with Burgundy bottles can probably hold around 27. If you are expecting it to easily hold 34 bottles, you are likely going to be disappointed.

Vinotemp VT-12TEDS-2Z Dual Zone Thermoelectric Wine Cooler, 12-Bottle
- Two separate temperature zones for red and white wines
- Thermoelectric technology prevents wine vibration and is energy efficient
- Black cabinet with stainless steel door and dual-paned glass windows
- Approximate Bottle Capacity: 12
- 4-Wood shelves
Now the entire unit has stopped working. They tell me the main circuit board has failed and they will ship to me with the other part.
The unit is a piece of junk and the customer service department is not helpful. Avoid this product/unit and company.
UPDATE:
I received the replacement part. Their installation instructions said you need a voltometer and a saldering iron. Puleeze. I took the entire unit and their replacement parts and put them in the dumpster.

We had this unit less than a year before the control board failed. The best Vinotemp will do is sell us a new control board for $35. Of course you'll be replacing their notoriously unreliable control board with yet another notoriously unreliable control board, so who knows how long it will be before you're fridge stops working again. I'm just going to try to sell this piece of junk for what I can get and move on to another manufacturer.Read Best Reviews of Vinotemp VT-12TEDS-2Z Dual Zone Thermoelectric Wine Cooler, 12-Bottle Here
They removed all the bad reviews for this unit, including one I already wrote last summer. So much for Amazon's integrity. This is the worst piece of junk we have ever received. Given as a gift in May, 2009, the unit's cooling board failed after approx 6 weeks. The customer service failed continually. The shelves were warped and did not fit. The replacement unit arrived in September. No instructions, then instructions that were written in Chinese English. It would take a professional electrician to install but they want me to do that. I might try, and get shocked and at least make some money in the lawsuit.
They may make good expensive units, but Vinotemp ought to be ashamed of selling junk like this.

I purchased this product in the fall of 2008 and gave it a good rating then. Unit worked fine for 1 year. Then the zones started to have difficulty maintaining temperatures. If preset temp was 60 it would often run 10 degrees lower. Not good for my reds. Then after 2 years it stopped working completely. Not sure about other Vinotemp products, but I cannot recommend this model to anyone.
Customer service says I have to replace both circuit boards! After 2 year? That costs $90 and you have to install and solder yourself that's crazy. Going to Wine Enthusiast and order a more reliable unit. The unit looks great but unfortunately it is a huge disappointment since it failed in less than three months. The worst part of this is that the customer service is horrible so it appears that my unit will never be repaired. I have been told that the replacement board will be in within a week or two for over three months and I still don't have the part. I should have done more research on this company before buying this wine cooler since this seems to be the norm for this unit along with the company's poor customer service. I would stay away from anything that this company sells based on my own experience with this wine cooler as well as reviewer's similar experiences.

LG LFX25974 25 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Pull-out Freezer Drawer and Ice and Wat, Stain
Fixing this problem should not take this much man-hours on my part. Wishing we could just phone a repairman like when I was a kid.
Our prior fridge we had a model for 15 years before it began to fail. Only drawback on that model was difficulty in changing water filter. This LG -the most positive thing is ease in changing water filter. That is the only improvement over our late-'90s fridge.

Gallery FGUN2642LF 25.8 Cubic Ft French Door Refrigerator, Stainless Steel
Owned this for six months now. It's roomy. Has a wide thin storage drawer, which works well for my vegetable and cheese trays. Has two deep veggie/fruit drawers. Jugs of milk easily fit in the doors. It runs quiet except I do notice the sound of ice dropping when the house is quiet, and it resists fingerprints better than most stainless steel.
The one area where I have had trouble is the ice maker. It worked great at first, but after a few months the output diminished, then completely stopped. A repairman came out but he couldn't pinpoint the problem. It started working again anyway. A few months later the problem happened again. I called Frigidaire and mentioned in passing that the water filters through our separate reverse osmosis system before it goes to the ice maker. Ah-ha, said the service department, that's the problem. Water pressure on an osmosis system hovers around 20 psi. The ice maker needs minimum 30 psi to function properly. I also mentioned we're out in the country and have a well. Double-whammy against the ice maker.
For reverse osmosis and/or wells the fridge needs a bypass filter. This replaces the regular standard filter that comes with it. The filters are super easy to change. Just open the fridge door and there it is in the back--top right corner.
The silver lining in this story is once you insert the bypass filter (about $40.00) it never needs replaced. BTW, the regular standard filter (about $40.00) that comes with the fridge needs replaced about every six months. $40.00 once versus $40.00 twice a year--you do the math. My understanding is most makes and model containing ice makers need filters of some kind, so there's no way around it.I have owned a similar Frigidaire Gallery unit (ice maker in the freezer) for 18 months now and I would NOT purchase this unit, or any similar unit, from Frigidaire again.
Here's the issue I have had the Ice maker replaced once (I'm on my second ice maker) and every so often, the mechanism freezes over. The problem is that the mechanism that fills the ice tray is gravity fed. Something goes wrong, and the ice maker spews water all over the inside of your freezer. And your ice maker... And the large gears that the freezer door relies on to open and close.
So, last night, my freezer door is completely frozen shut. I nearly broke the unit (not to mention my back, legs) trying to get the freezer door open so that I could spend 45 minutes at a really odd angle with a blow dryer trying to melt and chip away at the iceberg that was the left side, back and bottom of this freezer unit.
Unless your masochistic, or just feel like playing a bad joke on someone, stay away.

Kitchen Aid 21.7 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - KSRV22FVWH
This fridge has not been abused we are 2 people, an older couple with no children. The fridge has shelves that are poorly designed/made of cheap plastic. Will NEVER buy Kitchenaid again as it certainly is not what it used to be before Whirlpool bought them out. It is a shame because if the shelves and tracks were durable it would be a great fridge. So far my ice cube maker is working fine I see by other reviews that it will likely break soon too!

Samsung RFG297HDRS 28.5 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star</n
- 5 Tempered Glass Spill Proof Shelves
- Twin Cooling Plus System
- CoolSelect Pantry With 3 Level Temperature Controls
- Dimensions: (WHD): 35 3/4" X 69 3/4" X 35 5/8"
Pros:
1) love the fridg....roomy fridg section
2) LED lighting
3) look and feel
Cons:
1) Not holding temp correctly. Tech was out today and they are replacing the temp sensors. Hopefully this will help.
2) Got eggs? Normally we store our eggs on the top right shelve on our side by side. The dozen standard size egg carton does not fit on the top door shelve of our new refrig. I thought that was annoying. We actually had to put the eggs on the regular shelve.
3) buzzy sounds when power cool is on. The tech checked the compressor, fans, condenser and was unable to find the issue. I just happen to touch the back of the fridg near the freezer section and the sound stopped. I remove my hand and the buzzy sound is back. did that 5 to 8 times and it was consistent. We looked inside the freezer and the tech tighten a few screws from the inside back of the freezer and the buzzy sound is solved.
4) Ice maker: The good: Fast production and ice is great! The bad: Each time it pops an ice get ready to cover your head! You think someone threw a rock at your window. It is loud, really loud! My side by side is whisper quite when it comes to making and popping the ice out. This was just amazingly very loud and I am not over saying this. We have a large house and I can hear it all the way in bed across the entire house. At least your Samsung is making a statement that I just popped out ice ready for you...Maybe voice notification of a pop!
I am happy with the fridg. Hopefully once the sensors are replaced it fixes this temp drift I am facing. I noticed if I unplug the Refrig, wait 10 mins and turn it back on it will display the correct temp then later in a few day the temp drift. I had it set at 34F but the thermo is actually 48F inside.Bought this during last year black Friday at $1599!! I guess I don't have the right to complain at that incredible price! I have been using this for a month. So far so good! I have read numerous compliant about this fridge on Bestbuy and other website. Yet, I still risked and bought this model (coz I like its size and look). I believe either I am lucky getting a good one. Or, others did not do what it's suppose to do. Per Lowes technician's advice, you gotta dump the 1st 2 gallon of water in order to avoid dripping. Also, after 24 hrs, you should dump the 1st bucket of ice cubes as well. I did those and I don't have any problem.
Also, if you feel the fridge is not cold enough. Press 'Power Cool' or 'Power freeze' for 3 secs...and adjust to the desire temp...something like this. Hope this will help the others! This is a nice LARGE fridge!Letter to Consumer Reports:
I bought this SAMSUNG RF266ABRS fridge because it was recommended by Consumer Reports in August 2009. This fridge and other SAMSUNG fridges should be taken off the recommended list because there is an inherent design defect that causes ice buildup on the evaporator coils.
First there is a rattling noise as the fan hits the ice buildup.
Then the noise stops when the ice completely blocks the fan but then there is no more cooling happening.
There is even a class action lawsuit against SAMSUNG fridges:
Please look into this Samsung ice buildup problem. The Samsung fridges should definitively not be on the recommended list but put on the "do not buy" list. The ice buildup issue occurs about 1 year after purchase. SAMSUNG is not acknowledging the problem and does not help its customers.
Letter to SAMSUNG:
I am deeply unsatisfied on how SAMSUNG handled the warranty policy with my SAMSUNG Fridge French Door Model RF266ABRS. This fridge was defective starting Year 1 and was not repaired appropriately the 1st time. All was done on the 1st service visit was to defrost the evaporator not fixing the problem itself.
Of course, the problem reoccurred 1 year later and every year after that. Since the technician explained the problem, how to solve it and SAMSUNG customer service gave me a hard time because it was a few days over the 1 year purchase date, I dealt with it personally by unplugging the unit and let it sit unplug for 24 hours. Not a satisfactory resolution, just a quick workaround, until I got fed up with losing food and asked for SAMSUNG to resolve this problem once and for all.
First this problem should have been resolved the 1st visit. Secondly I learned recently from numerous complaints and videos on the web that this is a defective design in SAMSUNG fridges that causes the ice buildup on the evaporator.
Here is a video showing the defrost sensor modification kit to fix evaporator ice buildup. This is for the SAMSUNG RSH1 fridge but it is the same modification that was done on my fridge by the repair technician who came to my house:
Many SAMSUNG fridges have the same cooling design thus sharing the same ice buildup issue.
I was charged $104.68 to fix SAMSUNG own defective design! This is outrageous and no decent company would shift the cost from itself to their customers . It shows utter disrespect for its own customers, not counting the monetary damage. Sir, should I remind you that your customers are your most important assets and should be your priority number one!
SAMSUNG should have done everything in its power to help its loyal customers by fixing its defective fridges FREE OF CHARGE.
The technician explained that he had to move the defrost sensor away from the evaporator in order to let the defrost cycle run longer and completely defrost the evaporator from any ice buildup. He also put a wider drain clip. The older clip was too small. It would get iced up and not let water drain away from the evaporator. There is also a new metal clip that attaches to the heating element and goes inside the drain clip to heat any ice there if needed so the drain cannot get clogged. In addition, a new seal kit put on the market by SAMSUNG 3 months ago was used to seal the evaporator compartment to prevent moisture to get in and improve circulation airflow provided by the fan. This is a really good refrigerator. Shop around and you can find these a thousand less than regular price...
External:
This refrigerator barely fits in my cabinet frame in my kitchen. My previous fridge (25cf side-by-side) had about an inch of space on the sides and about four inches from the top to spare. I measured the cabinet space prior to buying the Samsung but was sure surprised at the size of it when it was installed.
The back of the fridge is very flat... completely sealed off. It does not have space to tuck/hide away excess water lines. Samsung provides a flat three pronged wall plug (more on that in a bit) but the waterlines was a small issue for me. Initially, the Samsung fridge stuck out two inches more than the previous model. After coiling the excess water line and inserting the excess into a small hole in the drywall (with a nice wall plate) all is well.
I read in couple places online that the "motherboards" in these new high-tech fridges can get damaged by power spikes/surges and are extremely expensive to replace. So I ordered an inexpensive single surge protector (made by Belkin) and a flat extension cable to go with it.
[IMHO, the only real alternative (size and space) to this fridge are counter-depth refrigerators (priced a grand more).]
After two days, I noticed a lot of reddish/brown streaking on the stainless steel face. At first, I thought it was dirt from the cloth/sponge I was using to clean the surface. It looked like rust, smelled like rust (very metallic odor) and stained a white diaper cloth like rust. I quickly googled "rust streaks on my stainless steel appliance" and found a simple solution: baby oil/mineral oil. That took care of all the streaking.
The stainless steel is only on the doors, not the sides or the back. The sides are dark grey and glossy similar to most refrigerator surfaces.
Last interesting note about the exterior: The stainless steel on this fridge does not attract magnets magnets only stick to the sides. We used to have magnets from all around the world on the fridge... not any more. Funny thing is, some of my other ss appliances do allow magnets to stick...
Interior:
I think a 29c ft refrigerator says it all for space. The doors have ample storage space and are very solid. Even with four gallons on milk on the door shelves, the door still feels light and solid.
Lighting is perfect. External lighting is also nice. At night it can illuminate the entire kitchen floor.
Operation:
The "Super Freeze and super cold" options work great. Moving from the old fridge to the new one was quick and easy and nothing spoiled in the process.
(This model is a single ice maker.) No issues with ice, crushed or cubed. Makes ice from filtered water.
Fridge temp is 2 degrees colder than the door computer display reports. I guess this is better than if it reported the opposite.About 2 1/2 yrs ago we bought all brand new home appliances, all SAMSUNG (unfortunately!) from LOWES in Hawaii. Planning to sell our house we didnot buy the extended warranty...After 2 years the refrigerator developed problems:the bottom freezer section, it became all frozen, the technician said it is a COMMON PROBLEM with SAMSUNG, the gasket needed to be replaced++. Also the light went out in the freezer as well as on top, the LED, above the water/ice spout...obviously we got a lemon! the estimate for the repairs was $ 600.00 ++, LOWES said after 7 days they do not accept any returns ( after spending 0ver $ 5,000.00++ we will NEVER shop at LOWES again!) SAMSUNG said sorry, YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!...what an expensive piece of junk! besides the refrigerator the microwave also died, the technician ordered a piece that was still under warranty, but still it didnot work, the repair estimate came to over $ 350.00!!! another piece of junk! bad luck indeed, but honest-to-God truth! we paid almost $ 200.00 to technician ($ 75.00 + tax /visit) for nothing!...now we worry about the stove, the dish-washer etc...
