I bought a 3 pack of these and could not be more dissatisfied. The water tasted horrible (extremely chemically) from the very first glass (after the 3 minutes flush that was recommended). I used the first filter for about 1 month and the horrible taste was just as strong as the first glass. I am throwing this one (along with the other 2 that came in the pack) away. I went to Best buy and bought a factory Frigidaire filter and the water is back to tasting amazing, crisp and clean. If you shop around online you can find factory filters for less. But remember, you get what you pay for. This has been a $23 lesson to never buy cheap water filters.

we saw the positive reviews here and thought 'how bad can it be?' well let me tell you *beyond bad it's awful*. we have had our Frigidaire fridge for 5 years. used pure source filters from an online filter vendor since. this time, when i stumbled upon the RG100 generic filters here, read some positive reviews (and especially noting the price), i decided to give it a shot. result was a week of awful tasting water that did not improve with continued use. we tried to be patient with these filters. thought they would improve with time. but we ended up pouring gallons of water down the sink in vain. it got to the point that when a guest asked for a glass of water the other day, i felt embarrassed to pour her some. well lesson learned. now i know the $30 expense for the pure source filter is well worth it. we replaced these with said filter from a local store this weekend. thank god for good, clean tasting water. and i must say i am totally confused by the good reviews here.

I received today. Item is slightly shorter than the brand filter. Also the pore size appears to be larger than the brand. It did seem to fit properly in the unit, so I hope it will filter well. No specs listed for what it removes or particle size, but on close inspection of filters the brand has very fine filter papers beneath the plastic netting and the generic one here does not (At least not visible from outside). Much cheaper though, so hopefully quality will be sufficient. Manufacturers should list the filter rates so people know what they are buying. Well cheaper does often mean you give something up. In this taste we did. I can still taste all the dirty water. It taste terrible. At 1st I thought it was do to the needed a flush , not. Poor sizes much larger than on brand. From the physical this is a particle filter only. Spend more on a better product.

After using this, I am very dissatisfied with the product. However the company has told me they will replace or refund my money. I will choose to refund. Not the bargain I thought.

These filters are not worth it, stick to Pure Source. Not only was there a chemical taste to the water, but the screening began to rust after a week. Spend the extra cash and spring for the real thing.

Item arrived today and fully meets product description. I unpacked the fridge with my car keys in no more than five to ten minutes. Fridge was packed nicely with about an inch of bubble wrap on all sides (except for top opening). I plugged the fridge in and it immediately hummed to life. Humming noise is fairly low and is drowned out by the sound of air conditioning. Humming also comes along in bursts. It will hum for a bit, then stop. My A/C at work is fairly noisy, so I doubt that the fridge humming will ever become an issue. It appears that opening the fridge may trigger the humming noise if it was silent at the time of opening. In an hour, the fridge was already colder than a 1.7 cubic ft. fridge that one of my colleagues has. Although my expectations for a mini fridge are relatively low, I feel that this item was a good decision at the $135 price point. Perfect for sodas and small lunch ideas.

Update 5/15/2012: Fridge is working great and still looks nice and brand new. Humming noise is barely noticeable anymore. I use primarily for water/soda and fridge can have them fully chilled in under 2 hours.

Update 9/6/2012: Today the fridge no longer works. It worked great for a little over four months, but I expect more than that. It sat in an air conditioned office keeping beverages cool that's it. It was not treated roughly and displays no wear or tear. I'm no fridge expert, but it's clearly not pumping freon into the unit. A Haeir customer service rep stated that it is in the window of their exchange policy. This requires me to fill out a form (that they will send via email), send the form back to Haier, and then they will send me a new fridge. It is up to me to dispose of the non-working mini-fridge. Overall, not a very complicated exchange.

Update: 9/7/2012: Sent return form to Haier for replacement.

Update 9/24/2012: Haier called to inform me that they received my exchange request. However, this exact model is no longer in stock, but they will ship me a comparable model in its place. I should have the new fridge within the next 2 weeks. Other than the 30ish day turnaround, I have been overall pleased with Haier customer service.

I've only had this fridge for a few days, so it is quite early to be giving a review, but so far I've had a good experience with this fridge. It worked, it looks really nice, and is perfect for my dorm. It does have a freezer component, but it's pretty small. I couldn't fit my 16 oz Ben and Jerry's in and still close it. But other than that setback, it's been really great for the price, and thanks to prime, it arrived in just two days!

I originally bought a Black & Decker 2.5 (which is made by Haier) and it was nothing more than a cooler. Dairy products went bad pretty quickly on high and sodas were cool, not cold. I stepped up to this 3.2 Haier and it is perfect. I actually have to turn down the temp because the cokes were started to ice up. There is a lot of room inside for my needs. The side door is very nicely laid out. I'm glad I took a chance on this after my bad experience with the smaller one. It is precisely what I was looking for.

This is the same refrigerator you can go to a home improvement store and pay $3200 (plus taxes) if there are no "sales"; I bought it here on Amazon for $1800!!

I cross-shopped this model with a Samsung RF4287HARS but ended up going with this Whirlpool because of several of the negative reviews I've read on Amazon and elsewhere about the lack of reliability with Samsung refrigerators. I'd rather sacrifice 3 cubic feet of space than an entire refrigerator-full of food! This Whirlpool has the same deli/snack tray feature as the Samsung, has LED lighting, and attached ice maker and water line, which is why we primarily compared the two. I also has solid SS handles (!) and not cheap chrome or SS overlay handles maybe this is why some people think its "skimpy" on SS. I don't think it is. It has it where it should and no where else (keeping the cost down)!

Otherwise, there isn't much else to compare its an excellent appliance for the price and for a french door. The ice maker is a tad loud when it draws water (and it might catch your attention until you are use to it). The "measure" feature is nice when baking and you want to use filtered water. Speaking of filters, it is a generally available item you can get here on Amazon or any store that sells appliances (the filter states it fits 5 different OEM's). I hope this thing gives us several years of trouble-free use!

We got whirlpool WRX735SDBM during the memorial day sale and got installed on 06/01/2013 and looking good so far. Front panel is very easy to operate and is also stylish. I specifically like the measure option of the water dispenser. Visibility inside the top cabinet is very good and the temperature control for the middle drawer is very useful. My experience with this model is great so far and with the sale price tag I recommend this model.

Only had for a day, so I hope to update this. This frig replaces the nearly identical G model, but supposedly (acc. to Whirlpool cust services 800#) removed the "Sabbath" function where apparently some religions believe it sinful to have lights on your device. However, the manual suggests that function is still present.

The computer/data panel is kind of neat. They recommend changing default temp by one degree at a time, & I had to tell it to drop the temp in frig and freezer around 4 5 degrees during mild (67-74 degree) room temp to get it in range that my power company recommended w/ their tiny thermometer. No biggie, but I'm not sure the computer temp or the utility company's thermometer is accurate yet. I will check w/ a third gauge & hopefully post an update.

This frig is DEEP, like many this style, and I'm going to have to bust out my doorway a bit to get it in the kitchen, but it's attractive & running well so far in my breezeway.

Swift Green Filters SGF-F1 Refrigerator Water Filter

It's a little difficult to review this product. I was hesistant to purchase this because I've been so use to getting the actual Frigidaire Pure Source filters. However, the original filters are so expensive for no reason. Plus, when I compare the specs on Pure Source vs Swift Green, the Swift Green reduces more particulates. And not to mention it's much cheaper. So I took a risk and purchased a 3 pack. But, I'm so use to drinking bottled water that anything outside of that tastes weird. But I must say the water comes out clear and tastes ok. My ice cubes are no longer frosty and doesn't have a bad smell.

There are a number of external factors in the success of a filter cartridge-you can't just compare them on the numbers or assume that this filter work the same in my fridge as it does in yours. You have the the quality of water going into it, the volume of water going through it, the length of time the water sits in plastic and or copper tubing before and after filtering, how long the filter has been in use (as a proportion of it's total useful life). That last is a big one, because it depends entirely on operating environment. A manufacturer's recommendation to replace after a specific amount of time (e.g. 6 months) simply MUST be arbitrary and bear no relationship to performance in your specific circumstances. So, reading the comments here I was of two minds but then decided that (a) my own circumstances are pretty much optimal, and (b) the price difference was such that I wasn't risking much. The filter bore all this out and I will come back and give it the fifth star if it lasts as long as it should.

I bought this freezer so that I can freeze meats and make ice when I'm camping or on my vacant, undeveloped land. I've been traveling with it for the last month or so, and I can say it works great. It'll freeze a bottle of water over night, and is also cold enough to freeze meats. I've run it off of AC, in my car (plugged into the cigarette lighter), and also off a 12V deep cycle battery, and has worked consistently from all power sources. It'll work just fine even in the heat, especially at the highest setting. At night, or if it's cool, you might be fine using a lower setting and save some power.

The only downside is its weight, but the handles are sturdy enough that you won't have to worry about carrying it around (hopefully with someone else's help).

I just purchased an Engel MR040 fridge/freezer based on the companies' reputation and consumer reviews of Engel. Product looks very durable and cools quickly and relatively quietly.

I bought the unit to install in the cuddy of my boat, to be fixed mounted with the Engel transit slide mount.

Following the instructions that came with the transit slide mount I removed the rubber corner protectors and installed the 4 round mounting feet.

Problems -

The problem is that on the compressor side of the unit the round feet come in contact with bolt heads on the bottom of the unit, and the round feet will not sit flush against the bottom of the unit. I fixed that by notching the feet so that they would clear the bolt heads.

Also, one of the bolts that secures the round feet the unit on the compressor side when tightened makes contact with something inside the unit causing a loud noise from the fan (since the rubber corners were removed I could see that the head of the bolt was touching something inside the unit so I removed that foot and the noise went away so I inserted a spacer between the bolt head and the foot and secured the foot to the unit and now the foot is secure and not contacting the compressor and the fan noise went away.

Engel needs their tech guys try to put together the MR040 with the transit slide so they can address these problems.

The fix could be prenotching the round feet and supply shorter bolts to attach the round feet.

I am not so impressed that I had to re-engineer the fridge, since I spent a lot of money for it, and I'm sure that other not so "handy" buyers would not been able to figure out how to do what I did.

Possibly Frigidaire has remedied the issue by now, but ours would build up ice in the defrost drain tray and eventually require a manual defrost. The solution was cheap and simple, insulate the metal shield which covers the defrost drain area to allow the defrost heater to work properly. I used some foil bubble material expressly for this purpose, and affixed it to both sides of the shield. Unfortunately, Frigidaire tech support did not have a clue, and suggested to move the defrost drain "trap" closer to where it exits on the rear. This was NOT an effective fix! Otherwise a great heavy-duty appliance with no fancy computer-board driven controls to go bad. Also be aware this is designed for a commercial setting, i.e. not all that silent as the typical domestic home refrigerator or freezer. BTW, the Amazon description is incorrect, this is a freezer, not a refrigerator.

Where to start let's see... I am only writing this to prevent people from the headaches I had to deal with. I purchased this freezer because it was supposed to be commercial grade, but this freezer does not even stand up to regular residential use. The first one I purchased last year and about 2 months into using it, the freezer started to make a loud rattling sound part way into the motor running. It sounded like someone was using an industrial compressor next door to us. I called the manufacturer for help and was given some names of repair men; I called a few but only had 1 response. When he finally came to look at the freezer, it was not making the sound at that point so he made some "fan adjustments" and told me to call him if it kept doing it. 20 min after he left it started again, so I called him and he never returned my call nor came back. Frustrated with the situation I called costco explained what happened and they picked up the faulty freezer and I purchased a second freezer thinking it was just a fluke; however last Friday I ran into another problem. I came home from work that night to hear the freezer making 2 funny clicking sounds every 10 min or so, similar to the sound it makes when going into auto defrost. I opened the freezer and found the temp sitting around 28, way above 0. I was livid; I cranked up the freezer to 10 to see if it would make a difference. I checked about an hour later and there was no difference, the freezer was not getting colder, only the fan was running. It was now 10:30pm and had no choice but to try and save whatever was salvageable from the freezer. I stuck what I could in my little freezer and tried calling 3 other people to see what space they had. I ran around till 1am putting things into friends freezers, but still lost around 500$ in product. The one shocker I found when I was emptying out the freezer was a melted plastic lid to a glass jar I had on the top shelf of the freezer up against the stainless steel plate. How does something melt in the freezer is my question. Third time will not be a charm; I will be looking for another make all together. I later tried to contact Electrolux/Frigidaire to let them know about the faulty products and this was their response, and by the way their warranty gets them out of covering anything:

Taking into consideration what you are buying, this product meets my expectations. I bought it to replace a Black & Decker unit that failed after a year. The Haier does not have a light of any type which was an advantage on the B&D. In my experience if you try to keep frozen food in that compartment the setting must be so low as to freeze food in the refrigerator. That said, I'm using it as an "office" refrigerator and it works fine.

My Husband bought this fridge( red one) for me for work. It worked great for almost a year and then it inexplicably died. It was still under warranty so I contact Haier to replace it in October. I am yet to receive the replacement(it is 12/14) and have spent over 20 dollars in shipping them useless paperwork. They keep giving me the run around and saying it will be taken care of but they never call me back, despite guaranteeing they will. Customer service people are polite but have no information and can provide no help... other than empty promises of calling me back.

Save your money and buy from a RELIABLE company!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE: A new fridge has arrived at my doorstep. Thank You Haier for finally taking care of my request. I wish my being patient and polite had been as effective as my being irate and fed up!

Pros:

freezer freezes, as well as the refrigerator depending on the coldness setting.

top shelf is deep and goes all the way to the back of the refrigerator

adjusting feet for unbalanced surfaces

quiet

the cooling component look like quality,

and should last a long time just like my other Haier appliances.

Cons:

door shelves are nothing special, and you have to be careful

to open the door slowly so the items don't fall

bottom shelf is shallow

I prefer the blower type of compact refrigerators.

cannot fit a lot of taller wider objects inside

the top was very warm to the touch, but I am not sure why yet.

Update-I haven't experiences this since the initial experience of plugging this in.

I'll keep you updated if it fails or the experience remains positive.

I bought this solely on the name, since I've had good experiences with Haier appliances in the past, and none of them have failed yet.

Update January 16, 2012: I have a short container that I wanted to fit on the bottom shelf, but wouldn't fit. I had to remove the side door bar that is supposed to hold the door items in place. I really never had any use for the side door, so I now have more space on the bottom shelf. The metal bar is easily removed and easily replaced.

I now have fixed a major concern I had with the shallow bottom shelf. This may be a problem for those that want to store liter bottles though.

With all my qualms regarding the interior space, this refrigerator/freezer is ICE cold, and is so quiet that it's almost silent. I do use the freezer as well as the refrigerator. In the morning, I bring in cans of drinks at room temperature, and by lunch time the drink has a few ice crystals, and if I leave the cans in for 3 or more hours the drink is completely frozen.

Bought this unit based on looks and inferred quality, i.e. maker of commercial products. Unit does not hold consistent temperature. Regardless of what you set, it floats on its own depending on environmental temperature. While house is at 72-76, white wine side will not get below 50. Also noisy operation, much louder than regular fridge. Company support is non-existent. Have sent emails and service requests with no response. Looks great, but first priority is to actually hold temperature. And have no idea where you put the other 10 bottles above 36 shown, 6 bottles x 6 trays. Spend more, buy a name brand with a established service team.

fridge arrived well intact...I was surprised since I live in the mountains. Top shelf will not lock in place due to design flaw with shelf too long. Quite noisy compared to house refrigerator. Temp varies a bit but within a few degrees of setting. Large bottles will only fit on top shelf in white wine section.
