LG LFX25991ST

LG LFX25991ST
  • Generous 25 cu.ft. capacity
  • Sleek counter-depth design
  • Smart Cooling System keeps temperature and humidity right where it's best for your food
  • Fresh Air Filter helps keep the air around your food from getting stale
  • Smart Pull Handle and 3-Tier Organization Freezer

We've had this fridge for a few months now and it's forced us to reevaluate food expiration dates. The first thing we noticed was the produce was lasting two to three times longer than in our previous fridge (a 2004 Whirlpool Gold). We just made a salad from two week old lettuce and it was almost as fresh as the day we bought it. Green onions, fresh cilantro, fresh parsley, and cucumbers have all at least doubled their shelf lives. We then began to realize that our deli meats and dairy products were also staying fresh longer. We used to have to throw out the milk within 3-4 days after the sell by date, when it started to smell. I just drank a glass of milk that was 11 days past the sell by date and it tasted and smelled the same as it did the day I opened it. The sliced turkey, ham and sliced cheeses have also been lasting significantly longer. I don't understand it, but it's awesome.

Everything else on the fridge has been great. Love the LED lighting, the counter depth, the easily accessible water filter, the in door ice maker, and the bottom drawer freezer. The stainless is a pain to keep clean, but so was our last fridge. I had read reviews on other sites that had complaints about the ice maker jamming. This has happened once to ours in the first week and was a quick fix. I just took out the ice container and banged it on the counter to break up the ice. It hasn't happened again. The counter depth for us has been great. Our previous fridge had gaps on both sides and stuck out farther into the kitchen. This one still leaves a small gap on one side, but is 3 inches shallower while giving us an extra 4.5 cubic feet of storage. The 3 inches doesn't sound like much, but it made a world of difference in the look of our kitchen.

The only negative thing I can say about this refrigerator is the high price. I couldn't imagine spending that much money on any appliance, but the wife talked me into it. After using it for a few months, I figure since it's saving us at least $50 per month in food costs, it should pay for itself in a few years. If you're looking for a counter depth fridge that keeps food fresh longer and looks great in your kitchen, this is the way to go.

Ours has worked perfectly; ice-maker and water dispenser are great. And the whole ice/water package is in the door freeing up a lot of space. That's really important because even though this thing is only abut 4" less depth than a standard unit, it's a little tricky to get food arranged in it. We had to load and unload it a few times to get enough fresh food for two people in it. The trick is that everything thing as tall as a normal beer bottle must be in the right side door. All the tiny mustard bottle sized stuff must be in the left side door. Then you'll have enough space for the usual things in a fridge on the shelves.

The good news is that the doors have shelves that are really large and it is possible to keep a six pack, a couple of bottles of wine, and a gallon of milk in the right hand door.

A design choice that I don't care for is that vegetable bins are too small because there is a drawer for junk food under them. I would have skipped that wide short junk food drawer under the veggie bin and made the veggie bins deeper (if funny shaped).

The real problem IMHO is that the freezer is too big. We don't eat frozen food, and the icemaker is in the fridge, so this huge freezer is wasted space. Normal people that eat a lot of frozen food are going to get just about all the freezer space a standard has, but they'll really need the space in the fridge more. If they made the freezer about 4" shorter you'd get back all the space in the fridge you lose from the counter depth, plus you could put a six back on the shelves rather than in the door. There is a fold up shelf but the part that folds is too small to be realistic; the six has to go sides ways across the fridge.

As it is, there isn't space for more than 2 six packs, so probably not the fridge you want if you entertain...

Purchased this refrigerator for size (counterdepth) and looks. Love how it looks, beautiful stainless steel but it has yet to be frost free! I've had a local repair man come out 7 times since 12/11 and each time he calls LG and is told to try something else. This last repair, the LG tech said "oh yeah, you need a defrost kit" (they didn't think of this before?). Each time I wait many weeks for the part to come in and each time there is no improvement. Ice cream boxes frost over immediately. Ice cream will last a few days before the frost is inside and needs to be thrown away. I call LG directly and speak to a manager who assures me that my repairman just needs to call and say it's unrepairable. He calls, is given something else to do and the dreaded cycle continues, a new part, no fix and I wait weeks in between (because parts have to be shipped from overseas???) FINALLY, I've complained long enough that a woman at the service center called to complain for me and LG has now agreed to replace this refrigerator. I paid $3200 for this fridge and I'm not even excited to get a new one. Wish I had chosen quality over size and looks! My 15 yo kitchen aid side by side is still doing a fantastic job, now in my garage!! Hope someone else fairs better. Just this week I had to purchase a fridge for another house and the LG fit perfectly, but just could not risk it again, I went Maytag!

After a week with this refrigerator, and 2 hours on LG live chat. I found that they say it is normal to only be able to get one glass (8oz.) of water every 4 hours and that with my refrigerator it will only be cooled to 55 deg F. Wish that this had been in the manual. I probably would not have purchased it.

Samsung DMT400RHS - 24"Dishwasher

Samsung DMT400RHS - 24'Dishwasher
  • Quiet Operatoin
  • Leakage Protection
  • Twister Nozzle to Assure your Dishes are Always Clean

Basically,

Bought this dishwasher brand new from Lowe's. Had Lowe's install it.

We have used it for 2 months now...it has had problems working 3 times so far. Has completely stopped mid-cycle to tell us something is wrong. Nothing seems out of ordinary. Did the basic checks for debris etc. I am not impressed with its cleaning either. It cleans ok.

Update : has not given us any trouble signals since. Adding a splash of chlorine to the washes helps with better cycles and residue. Happier. Changing from 2 to 4 stars...not getting my hopes up.

Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Metal

Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed MetalI had an earlier version of the 10-cup Cuisinart Grind and Brew that lasted more than 3 years. It made an awesome pot of coffee. I read online reviews of this and similar grind and brews from Cuisinart that made me nervous that I wouldn't get as good a product as I had last time. I looked closely at other brands and other versions of grind and brews and decided based on my own experience with the last one I bought, I'd give this model a shot. So far I have not had any problems that other people have mentioned. Yes, there are more parts to take apart, clean and put back together than a regular coffee maker. But the superior taste of the coffee you get from the grind and brew is absolutely worth the extra couple minutes of prep time it takes. Besides, I was used to it from the previous model I owned. So that is not an issue. I read other reviews about the hinge not closing or popping open during the brew cycle, or leaking. I have not had ANY of those issues. NOTE: One reviewer said to read ALL the instructions carefully and follow the directions and that's what I did. Most important thing to remember here is you have to be sure to keep the handle of the gold filter basket facing the front of the coffee maker. Last I saw some reviewers complain of the noise as it grinds the coffee beans. This version of the grind and brew is noticeably more quiet than the last one I had, so no issue there either. All in all, I am VERY glad I purchased this product. I love it!

A very nice, straightforward coffemaker, makes good coffee with pre-ground beans, can be programmed to start when you want. A nice feature is that it can also be programmed to shut down when you want -either right after brewing or up to 2 hours later. A bit on the noisy side, even without the grinder function on. Initial setup is easy. Please note that if you do not close *and latch* the reservoir cover, the machine will beep constantly and not brew until you do. Drove me crazy for about 15 minutes until I noticed that the cover wasn't fully latched. Although it does tell you that in the instruction manual, it's not immediately evident -it's a line in the middle of lengthy instruction under #6 "Close Reservoir Lid", on page 8.

Update on Feb. 1, 2010

It was a learning curve to figure out how many scoops of whole beans to add for a good cup of coffee. A small scoop is included, with instructions to use one scoop per cup. However, the grind on this machine is fairly coarse, so it comes out a bit weaker than I'm used to. Adding a bit more each time took me over the top to "bitter," so it's hard to find a balance. I'm afraid I enjoy pre-ground coffee in this coffeemaker more than whole-bean.

Bought this unit for my wife for Christmas 2009. Liked the idea of a combo grinder and coffee maker. $100 at World Market, Houston. Get it cheaper now.

1. Also bought the gold filter basket (no brainer).

2. The unit makes great coffee.

3. The grinder is very loud. Loud enough to wake the household at 5am. I now purchase ground coffee and don't use the grinder in the coffee maker.

4. The filter basket sits in a swing out holder that is spring-loaded. There is a "release" button on the side of the unit. The door tends to pop open at very inopportune times, including while the coffee is brewing. This is an unacceptable glitch in the design. This gets the unit a 3-star rating from me.

I'm in the process of getting a replacement unit from Cuisinart. Even for $50, not worth the mess.

I am very pleasantly surprised by this machine. It replaced a 3 year-old Cuisinart grind-and-brew that just stopped working one morning. I intended to buy one of the expensive burr-grinder models from Capresso when I found this one on clearance at a warehouse club for fifty dollars. I figured for a quarter of the price of the Capresso it was worth a shot if I didn't like it I could always take it back. I am so happy that I tried it!

Compared to my old Cuisinart this one is much, much quieter. Don't get me wrong, it's still loud, but it's more like the sound of a truck driving by while my old one sounded like a jet engine taking off. I attribute the quietness to the much thicker grinding chamber on this model. I think it holds in place better, reducing the vibration noise. Maybe a burr grinder model would be quieter; I don't know. The burr grinders I have used make noise at a lower frequency so they sound different, but not necessarily quieter.

The coffee tastes great! The warming plate / glass carafe keeps the coffee hot enough for my taste. Might not be hot enough for some I don't like my coffee scalding hot. The grounds in the basket get well saturated during the brewing process, so you don't have to use an excessive amount of coffee beans to get a strong pot.

The only drawback is the need to clean the machine after each use. I'm used to it, because my old Cuisinart was the same way, but I can see the attraction of a burr grinder model that you don't have to constantly wash. The cleaning process is easy. Everything pops out easily and cleans up quickly, but there are several parts that have to be washed. The instructions say you can run the parts through the dishwasher, but when I did that with my old Cuisinart the plastic eventually developed a white residue that took a while to scrub off so I'm not going to use the dishwasher with this model.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase. It is inexpensive, relatively quiet, has good programming features, and makes a good pot of coffee. Having a 12-cup capacity is great!

This is my second Cuisinart Grind and Brew Coffeemaker in the last six years. This model is easy to clean, easy to set timers and you can check the water level from the outside of the unit. Parts go back into unit with ease. I am very happy with my purchase.

Whirlpool 4396510P Certified Replacement Filter by Swift Green Filters

Whirlpool 4396510P Certified Replacement Filter by Swift Green Filters
  • Swift Green replacement filter for Whirlpool 4396510P
  • NSF and WQA Certified Filters
  • Great Water Taste
  • Swift Green Filters are Made in North America
  • Please Do Not Risk Your Family's Health By Using Cheap Non Certified Filters

When a product is described as a "Whirlpool 4396510P Certified Green Refrigerator Water Filter 3 Pack by Whirlpool" one would assume it would be an actual Whirlpool brand filter.

When a product is listed under technical details as "Brand Name Whirlpool" one would assume it would be an actual Whirlpool filter.

It is NOT a Whirlpool brand filter as described.

Silly me for not calling on my experience in buying ink & toner cartridges when I quickly searched and bought this without really studying the picture but I have to say the description appears to be intended to deceive.

Whynter WC28S SNO 28 Bottle Wine Cooler, Platinum with Lock

Whynter WC28S SNO 28 Bottle Wine Cooler, Platinum with Lock
  • Adjustable thermostat for storing different wine varietals (52F - 64F)
  • Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature display
  • Enhanced Blue Light LCD temperature display feature for precise control
  • Cylinder lock and two keys included
  • Solid state components for long life- the only moving parts are fans to circulate cool air within the wine cooler and dissipate heat outside the unit

Ordered this product from Amazon when it returned to stock -price for product with prime shipping (free) plus add-on overnight shipping was under $200.00. Arrived before noon the next day. A great deal.

Unpacked and set-up in family room -took 30 minutes to cool to 58 for red wine (I have a 16-bottle unit that has my whites stored). I've had the unit for four days and it's doing what it should. No sound and temperature on display verified with thermometer placed in unit for two days.

A great thing about the product is that if you would like to upgrade the look of the unit with wood shelves they are available for separate purchase on Amazon. As previous reviewer, I think it looks nice as is once the wine bottles are loaded.

Please note that the included instruction book says to level unit that all legs adjust -however, only the leg under the hinge adjusts (not really a problem).

The only "complaint" with the unit is that, like all the other units I've read about, it does not hold 28 bottles if your collection includes any pinot-size bottles. The unit has slots for the shelving at other levels which is helpful to adjust, but in the end I have taken out one shelf (half of my wines are in pinot-style bottles). I have a few small bottles that I've been able to add on top of the pinot. I would say that even with the lower capacity this is still a great deal.

We purchased the Whynter 28 bottle wine cooler to start our small mid-range collection. From what I have gathered, the no-vibration thermoelectric wine coolers are much more gentle on your wine and easily hit the required temp range. The Whynter unit appeared to be a nice looking unit and had the capacity we were looking for.

We received the product in a much quicker timeframe than we expected. It was a no fuss setup and looked really high-end when we had our bottles in the unit. Couldn't be happier on the price too. Depending on where you situate the unit, it takes less than 25-30 mins to get the internal temperature to an ideal 58F for my reds. The door lock was also a nice bonus, especially with teens at home =)

Very pleased with everything about this purchase. Thanks again for a great shopping experience.

Whynter WC28S SNO 28 Bottle Wine Cooler, Platinum with Lock

This is what I would call a fancy starter wine cooler. Ideal for thermoelectric enthusiast. It easily gets your wines to 10-15 degrees as preferred. Has very decent storage capacity and the shelving is removable as needed. It's not stainless steel but looks better than my previous stainless steel unit. The temperature indicator is accurate and the unit chills fast. Haven't had any need for the lock on the door but I can imagine it would be useful on occasion. It's worked just fine since for me and based on all features and price, I would recommend it.

Norcold Inc. Refrigerators 323T R/L 3 Way Refrigerator

Norcold Inc. Refrigerators 323T R/L 3 Way RefrigeratorI have had these in two brand new RV's and they have never worked. Not even at first. I return them to be fixed, the techs fiddle with it for awhile and say try this and bring it back if it doesn't work. Next trip. no fridge, return and start over. Eventually I get tired of them trying to fix it. AC electric has always worked. Fine when you're parked at home. Battery sucks dry in hours if you try to use that. Gas just never works. Will not light, will not stay lit. Even more frustrating because the switch is right next to the gas hot water heater. One touch and its on, never any problems so it's not like we can't build something that works. I'm completely through with Norcold.

Works, but we have had trouble with excessive condensation. We started storing a cloth in the fridge to wring out the water every day when used in the summer

GE WR57X10032 Water Valve for Refrigerator

GE WR57X10032 Water Valve for RefrigeratorAfter researching causes for not getting water through the door I had ruled out the line being frozen. My tests showed that the relay on this valve was getting energized yet there was barely a trickle of water coming out so I assumed the valve needed replacing. A new valve did not solve the problem. The root cause was the fitting that holds the water filter. One of the tubes leading into the fitting was plugged, preventing filtered water from reaching the valve I had tested.

Ordered, installed product within 10 minutes. Easy, no hassle. Great product, cheap on Amazon, and fast delivery!

Yet, the new product was not was I needed. The water dispenser was not dispersing water. I replaced the water valve as attempts to the easy route. Still had the problem!

Similar to other posting, my issue was water line inside the door freezes. Remove the kick panel below the refrigerator and freezer doors and look for the water line disconnect just behind the front panel near the freezer door hinge. Disconnect the water line and shut the door. Press the water dispenser and see if water comes out of the water line at the bottom where you'd disconnected the water line. If water comes out, you'll need to just turn the refrigerator off and leave the door open for about 45 minutes and that will allow the door to heat up enough that when you connect the water line to the door again, it should start to dispense water again. Using a hair dryer to warm up the door is also very useful.

AVANTI FFBM920W Bottom Mounted Frost-free Freezer Refrigerator 9.2 Cubic Feet White

AVANTI FFBM920W Bottom Mounted Frost-free Freezer Refrigerator 9.2 Cubic Feet White
  • Capacity: 9.2 Cubic Feet
  • Estimated Annual Operating Cost: $44
  • Your operating costs will depend on your utility rates and use. The estimated operating cost based on a 2007 national average electricity cost of 10.65 cents per kWh.

I have this unit in my apartment, and it has failed 5 times over the past 2 months. Each time, the fan that circulates cold air from the compressor into the refrigerator compartment stops working, causing the fridge compartment to warm up to about 60 degrees. According to the warranty technician, this is a design flaw that is common in these units. The unit is under warranty, so there *should* be responsive service to fix or replace it. Unfortunately, Avanti has terrible service delivery and I have been waiting now almost two weeks for a replacement part that in theory would fix this problem. (Although I can't say I trust that even this will work.)

I highly recommend that you do not purchase this unit if you want any security that your refrigerator actually functions.

I realized that that the item is too small. I just do not know if there is a way to return it. I would never buy anything on Amazon -because you really cannot judge before you look. The bottom freezer is fine, but the actual refrigerator is small. I did not buy LG because I expected this one to be large and the one I saw there was actually bigger. It is moderately loud. Still did not decide what I am going to do about it. In Costco you can get a refrigerator normal size for just 399. the problem is that I wanted to have freezer at the botton. Now I need to struggle how I can fit everything there. The refrigerator seems too small even just for one person. I paid for delivery 175 dollars and the refrigerator 450. They say it costed over 1000 and got discount. I wish I saw the previous review before and knew how this refrigerator looks because no store in LA carries those and there is a reason. NO good.

GE PFE29PSDSS Profile 28.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star

GE PFE29PSDSS Profile 28.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • TwinChill Evaporators
  • Hands-free Autofill
  • External Touch Color LCD
  • Dimensions (WHD): 35 3/4" X 69 7/8" X 36"

It should have been obvious from the delivery that this fridge was a mistake! The fridge broke after 1.5 weeks. But while it was "working", the wrap they use to protect the fridge during delivery won't come off, the ice dispenser sprayed ice everywhere but into the cup, the freezer drawers got stuck, and the list goes on. Meanwhile, it's taken GE a week and three (four hour) appointments to admit I need a new fridge and they're saying another week to deliver it. Their customer service offered $100 and a half hearted apology for the inconvenience. For the price and the awful customer service, you're better off without a GE.

I've had my G.E. profile for slightly less than 4 years. The drawers have broken, the ice makers leaks down the refrigerator and onto the floor, the temperature control does not control the temperature on either side and the freezer thaws intermittently and my TV dinners get soggy, (all this began in the fist 6 months) and yesterday both the refrigerator and the freezer gave out and stopped cooling. It still makes an excellent nightlight though. Oh and the ice maker gets clogged and then won't make ice. A little research on the net and I have discovered the motherboard breaks on these puppies and they stop cooling. Figure a $700 bill for that, and figure the new mother board will last you about 2-4 years. This is a pervasive problem. If you figure one in every 10 people who have this same problem with their G.E. Profile's, write a complaint on line, then it's pretty much... yeah, everybody whose had one for 4 years. You'll be lucky to get 2 or 3 years from this machine if your gullible enough to buy it. It's total garbage. When looking on line for reviews, do not trust the # of stars, you have to read the actual reviews because most of the people writing the reviews do so within a month or two of getting their appliance--sometimes the day it arrives. What the heck use is that? (this is true of all appliances) Of course they're satisfied with their purchase in the first month. Read reviews from people who have had the machine for YEARS and that will tell you something. Now I have to figure out what to buy next because I'm not even going to bother fixing this P.O.S.

I love this fridge. It is a very large unit. The only downfall is that it lacks ice productivity. I just keep a bag of ice on the freezer. I've had this unit for almost 8 months now. Ran into this review page because I'm trying to buy a water filter for it as the touch screen display is showing a replacement is required
