My ice makers stopped working and rather than pay a repair man, I decided to fix it myself. I tore out the old one and installed the new one. I now have ice and so far no trouble with the part.

I had ice. This ice maker broke about 2 months ago...so it lasted me about 3 months. I may return it for another. Until then I make ice in the bottom part of fridge. I know this is not a review of Samsung's fridge, but it has been a money pit.

Rusco Spin Down Separator Sand / Sediment Water Filter 20 GPM - PWFSS10

I'm on well water that has a lot of manganese in it. I put two of these "sediment" filters upstream of a Big Blue 20" DGD-2501 filter and they extend the filter element life two of three times. I do use the flushing feature fairly regularly (once a week or more in the rainy season)

At first I had 100 and 250 mesh screens in these housings, but have stepped it up to 140 and 500 screens to see if I can extend the filter life even more. I great product that does exactly what I wanted. Running the washing machine is where I really see what's going on.

However, if I had to do it over again, I'd get the bigger housing (1.5" inlet & outlet, vice 1") to see if it would increase flow when the screens were getting plugged.

this filter has really helped with sand issues in our well. besides keeping in line filters and water softener cleaner it has mainly helped our sprinkler heads to operate clog free.

Concept good, but requires manual clearing. Spinning throws heavy contaminants outward where they sink to the bottom. Lighter material clings to the screen and clogs pores. One I bought had its cartridge screwed on too tight--could not remove to clean except with extreme force of pipe wrench & hammer(light tapping on wrench).

If impurities at low enough level that could be handled by a disposable cartridge, this device could extend cartridge life, but if impurities are high then the frequent manual flushes and cleaning can be impractical. A backwashable filter would be preferable in those cases. Will clog with light silt and or fine sand requiring periodic disassembly and cleaning. If particles are coarse sand or larger, this is fine. Otherwise too much manual cleaning and pressure loss.

Cuisinart DGB-625BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Metal

I had an earlier version of the 10-cup Cuisinart Grind and Brew that lasted more than 3 years. It made an awesome pot of coffee. I read online reviews of this and similar grind and brews from Cuisinart that made me nervous that I wouldn't get as good a product as I had last time. I looked closely at other brands and other versions of grind and brews and decided based on my own experience with the last one I bought, I'd give this model a shot. So far I have not had any problems that other people have mentioned. Yes, there are more parts to take apart, clean and put back together than a regular coffee maker. But the superior taste of the coffee you get from the grind and brew is absolutely worth the extra couple minutes of prep time it takes. Besides, I was used to it from the previous model I owned. So that is not an issue. I read other reviews about the hinge not closing or popping open during the brew cycle, or leaking. I have not had ANY of those issues. NOTE: One reviewer said to read ALL the instructions carefully and follow the directions and that's what I did. Most important thing to remember here is you have to be sure to keep the handle of the gold filter basket facing the front of the coffee maker. Last I saw some reviewers complain of the noise as it grinds the coffee beans. This version of the grind and brew is noticeably more quiet than the last one I had, so no issue there either. All in all, I am VERY glad I purchased this product. I love it!

A very nice, straightforward coffemaker, makes good coffee with pre-ground beans, can be programmed to start when you want. A nice feature is that it can also be programmed to shut down when you want -either right after brewing or up to 2 hours later. A bit on the noisy side, even without the grinder function on. Initial setup is easy. Please note that if you do not close *and latch* the reservoir cover, the machine will beep constantly and not brew until you do. Drove me crazy for about 15 minutes until I noticed that the cover wasn't fully latched. Although it does tell you that in the instruction manual, it's not immediately evident -it's a line in the middle of lengthy instruction under #6 "Close Reservoir Lid", on page 8.

Update on Feb. 1, 2010

It was a learning curve to figure out how many scoops of whole beans to add for a good cup of coffee. A small scoop is included, with instructions to use one scoop per cup. However, the grind on this machine is fairly coarse, so it comes out a bit weaker than I'm used to. Adding a bit more each time took me over the top to "bitter," so it's hard to find a balance. I'm afraid I enjoy pre-ground coffee in this coffeemaker more than whole-bean.

Bought this unit for my wife for Christmas 2009. Liked the idea of a combo grinder and coffee maker. $100 at World Market, Houston. Get it cheaper now.

1. Also bought the gold filter basket (no brainer).

2. The unit makes great coffee.

3. The grinder is very loud. Loud enough to wake the household at 5am. I now purchase ground coffee and don't use the grinder in the coffee maker.

4. The filter basket sits in a swing out holder that is spring-loaded. There is a "release" button on the side of the unit. The door tends to pop open at very inopportune times, including while the coffee is brewing. This is an unacceptable glitch in the design. This gets the unit a 3-star rating from me.

I'm in the process of getting a replacement unit from Cuisinart. Even for $50, not worth the mess.

I am very pleasantly surprised by this machine. It replaced a 3 year-old Cuisinart grind-and-brew that just stopped working one morning. I intended to buy one of the expensive burr-grinder models from Capresso when I found this one on clearance at a warehouse club for fifty dollars. I figured for a quarter of the price of the Capresso it was worth a shot if I didn't like it I could always take it back. I am so happy that I tried it!

Compared to my old Cuisinart this one is much, much quieter. Don't get me wrong, it's still loud, but it's more like the sound of a truck driving by while my old one sounded like a jet engine taking off. I attribute the quietness to the much thicker grinding chamber on this model. I think it holds in place better, reducing the vibration noise. Maybe a burr grinder model would be quieter; I don't know. The burr grinders I have used make noise at a lower frequency so they sound different, but not necessarily quieter.

The coffee tastes great! The warming plate / glass carafe keeps the coffee hot enough for my taste. Might not be hot enough for some I don't like my coffee scalding hot. The grounds in the basket get well saturated during the brewing process, so you don't have to use an excessive amount of coffee beans to get a strong pot.

The only drawback is the need to clean the machine after each use. I'm used to it, because my old Cuisinart was the same way, but I can see the attraction of a burr grinder model that you don't have to constantly wash. The cleaning process is easy. Everything pops out easily and cleans up quickly, but there are several parts that have to be washed. The instructions say you can run the parts through the dishwasher, but when I did that with my old Cuisinart the plastic eventually developed a white residue that took a while to scrub off so I'm not going to use the dishwasher with this model.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase. It is inexpensive, relatively quiet, has good programming features, and makes a good pot of coffee. Having a 12-cup capacity is great!

Bought this water valve July 2012. It worked full pressure for about two months, then it stopped working completely now, May of 2013. Based upon the other reviews, you get what you pay for, and in this case, it is a crap shoot. I purchased this ice maker and when it arrived we plugged it in and it was dead Danby told me to call a service tech, he said unit was unrepairable. Danby sent me a new unit Unit #2 arrived and we plugged it in and it made noises and then died. Called Danby again service tech said its dead leak in compressor . I purchased this ice maker thinking it would work fine in our bar. The price was so much cheaper than others that we were looking at and I really didnt want to spend a lot on this appliance. But now Im kicking myself. This may be a $1000 waste unless I can unload it on Craigslist. In my case, I just dont think I can live with it. If you are putting this in a garage or isolated closet it will probably function okay. It makes ice fine. Here are my issues with it:

1. Although the cube size is just right for me, one in three sheets do not break apart. Therefore, every time you reach in for ice you will be required to stab the sheets with the scooper to break them up. Not a huge deal, but really annoying after a while. The solid sheets are always on top because they dont fall as far. Again, "every" time you reach in.

2. It runs constantly. Because it is not as heavily insulated, the ice melts away quicker meaning more run time, more water. It runs constantly throughout the day.

3. My biggest complaint and the reason we cant live with this, is it is LOUD! it is louder than our dishwasher by far. We have this unit in our bar, built in under the counter. But Im telling you it is very loud! Since the ice melts quickly you constantly hear the water spraying inside to fill the reservoir. Then the water trickles over the metal plate and drips back into the reservoir as its making cubes. loud loud loud. like an outdoor water fountain. Again, imagine your dishwasher running with the kitchen sink spraying constantly, then you'll get the idea. Sometimes its better to pay up a bit and in this case I think it would have been a MUCH wiser decision for us. If you plan on putting this unit inside your house, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

This is a very low quality ice maker. It is a complete waste of money, time and effort. The ice is very wet because it never seems to get cold enough. It doesn't break apart into actual cubes, it just drops sheets of ice and you have to break it apart yourself. It is extremely LOUD. Once it is full of wet half melted ice, the temperature just shuts off and all of it melts. Then you are left with a big tub of water that you have to lift out and dump. I returned the first one I had thinking it was a lemon, but the second one did the same thing. I am now upgrading to a different brand. There is a reason that this is half the price of most ice makers, please don't waste your time.

All the previous reviews are spot on. This product is inefficient. The ice melts at a rapid rate, so the machine is almost always running and using water. Compounding the fact that it always runs, when it does run, it is extremely LOUD! It is very annoying in a big open kitchen/dining area/living room. We thought we may have a faulty item, but the tech said this was the way it was designed and it was working properly. agree with others. just plugged it in last night. The instruction manual is 2nd grade. misspelled words and the icon to select "size of cube" actually says, "Amount of Ice" and picture show a half empty bucket...called customer service and they set me straight on what the selection were for (size of cubes). nit picky I know, but poor manuals tells you something about the product. I also constantly hear the thing running (loud), the cubes are "wet", and you have to smash the sheets of ice. I called customer service and he said just use the scoop to smash the ice. really, I paid almost $1,000 for this and a cheap refrigerator can make separate ice cubes and this thing can't?

I bought my daughter this refrigerator to store beverages in when her friends came over. It is the cutest thing but DOES NOT WORK. It makes a lot of noise when you plug it in but i repeat, it doesn't even chill anything. We put popsicles and cokes in it and it stayed warm. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Samsung had to replace the 26.7 cu.ft for free. Unfortunately, we did not get the opportunity to select a different refrigerator. FOR THIS FRIDGE, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, which is something my husband and I typically do not do. Thankfully, and truly by a stroke of luck, we had the warranty (the salesman forgot to take it off the during the invoicing process as at Sears).

We purchased our Samsung Refrigerator in early 2009 and for the first three years it worked fine. Not great as the ice maker is VERY LOUD and VERY SLOW. However, after 3 years we began to notice that opening the veg bin became hard to do. Further inspection showed ice build up underneath the veg bin. Called out the repairman and was told to DEFROST the refrigerator for 48 hours and the problem would go away. Defrost a frost free refrigerator??? Two weeks later the same problem. Called out the repairman and was told that this was a common problem with Samsung and that he'd have to order parts. Parts were installed and 5 weeks later, the same problem. We're not out a dime as yet because we purchased the extended warranty. Now the repairman has ordered the same parts so we're waiting for them to be installed, but have been warned that they too will most likely not fix the problem. Best solution for this problem and for any Samsung refrigerator is to put it in the garage and go get something else. Ice maker is too loud, water builds up then turns to ice INSIDE the refrigerator, which then drains onto your kitchen floor.....other than that, not a bad product if you put it in the garage. Don't purchase a Samsung refrigerator unless you purchase a 4 or more year extended warranty. The warranty says that after three attempts to fix the exact same problem they'll refund you the purchase price (plus tax). I've discussed this with the Warranty Company who has confirmed that this is the only solution because at some point it starts to cost them more than it's worth to continue sending out the repairman.

I purchased Samsung refrig french doors model # RF263AEPN exactly two years ago. Fell in love with the refrig and relied on Consumer Reports when I purchased it. Approx 3 weeks ago the motor ran non stop, getting louder as each day passed. Called Samsung hoping they would help. They told me it was my problem since it was out of warrenty. The fan and coil simply froze and it would need several hundreds of $ to repair it. I did nothing wrong to cause this problem...it is obviously a defect in manufacturing of the refrig. In checking websites I discovered this is a common complaint and a class action law suit is in the works. Please check different websites before making the same mistake I did. Please do your homework!
