Watts K-1 Polyethylene Icemaker Kit, 25-Feet

Watts K-1 Polyethylene Icemaker Kit, 25-FeetI got this kit to run a water line from my kitchen sink to my refrigerator's ice maker. I am not a plumber, but I do understand the basic concepts of plumbing and have tackled a few small plumbing jobs. The included instructions are not the best if you need to be walked through every little step, but if you have an experience level similar to me you should be able to get through it.

The kit I got had slightly different pieces than what is in the product picture, however it did have everything I needed. The picture shows 2 nuts and some washers to go on the bolts that hold the two pieces of the saddle together. In the kit I received there were no nuts or washers because the nuts are actually welded to the bottom part of the saddle and the bolts just screw directly into them. All other pieces were the same.

According to the instructions the self-tapping saddle valve that comes with this kit can only be used to tap into a supply line that is 3/8" to 1-3/8" plastic or copper so make sure and check the size and material of the line you will tap into if you plan on using this valve. My sink line is mostly the flexible stainless steel, but fortunately there was about a foot of copper pipe between that and the faucet which I was able to tap into. The one problem I had with this kit was with threading the saddle onto the tap-valve. If you look at the product picture it shows the T-valve already has half of the "saddle" on it, but mine came with that saddle part separate. You are suppose to be able to just screw that saddle on the tap-valve (it's already threaded so should not be an issue), however the hole in the saddle was slightly too small. I had to take a pair of vice-grips and and adjustable wrench and man-handle the thing on. After a good bit of elbow grease I was able to finally get it on, though, and after that installing the valve was very easy. After you tighten the saddle around the pipe (and put the included rubber gasket below the T-valve), you simply start turning the T-valve clockwise as far as it will go and there is a spike inside that pierces the supply line. It was so easy that I did not even feel it going into the pipe and actually thought at first it wasn't going down far enough to pierce it. When I turned the valve back the other way, though, water started flowing just like it should.

Then it was just a matter of running the plastic line to my fridge and using the included supplies to connect it. I used plumbers tape on all the threads just as a precaution, but supposedly you do not have to if you don't want to.

I would again caution anyone who wants a clear step-by-step guide from this kit, but I think as long as you have a basic understanding of plumbing you will be OK. I am giving it 4 stars due to the saddle valve issue and since the instructions could be better. For the price, though, I think this is hard to beat.

The local HD was charging a lot more for this same kit so I came here. This installed without a problem, saddle valve seems like it'll hold up. A common problem I've seen with the valves is they start leaking after they've been used (open/closed) a lot so only time will tell if the 7$ was worth it. It's about the same quality you would find from any kit in the sub 20$ price range. I prefer polyethylene over copper because it's easier to work with needing to move fridge in and away from wall primarily. You also wont have the copper taste with poly likewise I noticed no real plastic or unusual tastes with this. If you wanted to do it right you could probably get a better PEX line, or even go with braided/SS. But, it probably won't pay off I expect this to last the life of the fridge.

I got this on time but when I got everything hooked up it leaked at the refrigerator. Had to buy some extra fittings and then it still leaked. Come to find out that the tubing is not a true 1/4 inch so the fittings they sent in the kit let the water leak out. Went back to the store and bought more tubing and did it all over again and now it works. The only thing that did work was the saddle piece that you attach to the water supply. Would not recommend this to anybody.

I used this kit to install a water filter under the sink. While I didnt use all the items I used most of the kit. It is a good price for all that you get

I would spend a little extra money and buy the pieces seperately. The hose is very low end. I would go braided stainless or copper and I would not use that hole puncture connection piece. I would just get a some kind of t valve. It is easy enough to figure out I am not very handy and with the homedepot guy and some common sense I figured it out and it the out come is mutch better than this kit.

Dual Zone Wine and Beverage Cooler

Dual Zone Wine and Beverage Cooler
  • Floor standing
  • Made from stainless steel
  • Black and silver color
  • Fits approximately 19 bottles
  • Includes Lock and key combination

The Vinotemp VT-36 that I ordered directly from the manufacturer looks nice, keeps the wine at the right temperatures, and has all the features you would expect from a $900 wine fridge. However, it is extremely loud -it apparently has a fan that cycles about every 20 seconds, and then the standard compressor that actually does the cooling comes on every 10 to 15 minutes. I expected the compressor noise, but the extra fan noise is ridiculously annoying. It is louder than my kitchen refrigerator, and I can hear the wine fridge a room away and with the TV on. This was not what I expected from a $ wine refrigerator. It is much louder than the $ one that I bought from Home Depot 6 years ago that this one was meant to replace.

Worst of all, the "customer service" at VinoTemp is pretty much non-existent. I expected that there was some problem that occurred in shipping that was causing the noise, and that they would either get someone out to repair it, explain how to troubleshoot it, or have me return it. Instead, I got an email that basically said "Oh, it's supposed to make that noise", and that was it. I told them I wanted to return it, and they pointed me to the fine print on their website that says that I can return it, but with a 35% restocking fee AND paying shipping both ways. Assuming shipping is the better part of $ each way, it would end up costing me $ to send it back. This was not the kind of quality or customer service that I expected in a $ wine fridge. I do not recommend this product or this company.

The cooling stopped at 1 day over the 1 year mark, and Vinotemp refused to cover any labor to repair the issue. They did offer to send me a part, free of charge, when a qualified mechanic determined the problem. The problem, however, would cost 380 dollars in labor to fix. The Mechanic actually told me this brand doesn't last long, and the best I could do is purchase a low-cost option and simply replace it in a year or two when it wears out. I am attempting a 300 dollar GE (with 4-year warranty) from Lowe's, and I will not purchase a Vinotemp again.

I bought two of the wine/beverage fridges. They look great but do not work for long. Both fridges broke (stopped cooling) in less than two years. Fixing a small fridge like this is not cost effective and the company was not helpful in determining the failure mode. I will not buy this brand again.

I agree with the other reviewers that have indicated that the quality is lacking on this unit. The inside fan that cycles on and off, on an off, on an off etc every twenty seconds is very annoying. Additionally, mine unit is barely three years old and the seal in between the two panes of glass on the front door failed so there is now condensation fogging up the glass and it cant be wiped off. I called the manufacturer and they want to charge me $200 for a replacement door and would not budge on the price even though this isnt the type of part that should fail in such a short period of time. I won't buy another one of these Vinotemp products. When the fogging up of the glass annoys me too much to bear I will replace the unit with another brand.

I have seen other reviews talking about how this unit stops working after a year, sure enough 14 months in it stops working. At first it seemed like vinotemp was helpful as they said to have a tech come out and diagnos the problem and they would send me the part(s) for free.Well the problem is that there is a leak somewhere in the system that could take hours to even find. When I called vinotemp back asking for some type of price concession on a new unit they said they would talk to their manager and call me back. They never called me so I tried again and all they do now is send me to voicemail and will not call me back. Terrible product and customer service.

Silhouette Select Built-In Under Counter Ice Maker

Silhouette Select Built-In Under Counter Ice Maker
  • Built-in under counter ice maker includes built-in drain pump
  • Produces 32 lbs. of crystal clear cubes per day
  • Internal storage capacity of 25 lbs. of ice
  • Internal ice bucket is removable for easy cleaning
  • Seamless full wrap stainless steel door with matching handle and toe-kick

I purchased this ice maker and when it arrived we plugged it in and it was dead Danby told me to call a service tech, he said unit was unrepairable. Danby sent me a new unit Unit #2 arrived and we plugged it in and it made noises and then died. Called Danby again service tech said its dead leak in compressor . Called dandy they sent unit #3, no kidding. Unit 3 gets delivered and doesn't even start up. Poor service tech comes out again and says unit is dead broken compressor. He then tells me these units are junk and poorly made. I call Danby and they give me a full refund. Now I have 3 ice makers in my garage that I have to get rid of. I then purchased a Kitchen Aid ice maker and it works great...plenty of ice. You get what you pay for. STAY AWAY from this ice maker.

I purchased this ice maker thinking it would work fine in our bar. The price was so much cheaper than others that we were looking at and I really didnt want to spend a lot on this appliance. But now Im kicking myself. This may be a $1000 waste unless I can unload it on Craigslist. In my case, I just dont think I can live with it. If you are putting this in a garage or isolated closet it will probably function okay. It makes ice fine. Here are my issues with it:

1. Although the cube size is just right for me, one in three sheets do not break apart. Therefore, every time you reach in for ice you will be required to stab the sheets with the scooper to break them up. Not a huge deal, but really annoying after a while. The solid sheets are always on top because they dont fall as far. Again, "every" time you reach in.

2. It runs constantly. Because it is not as heavily insulated, the ice melts away quicker meaning more run time, more water. It runs constantly throughout the day.

3. My biggest complaint and the reason we cant live with this, is it is LOUD! it is louder than our dishwasher by far. We have this unit in our bar, built in under the counter. But Im telling you it is very loud! Since the ice melts quickly you constantly hear the water spraying inside to fill the reservoir. Then the water trickles over the metal plate and drips back into the reservoir as its making cubes. loud loud loud. like an outdoor water fountain. Again, imagine your dishwasher running with the kitchen sink spraying constantly, then you'll get the idea. Sometimes its better to pay up a bit and in this case I think it would have been a MUCH wiser decision for us. If you plan on putting this unit inside your house, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

This is a very low quality ice maker. It is a complete waste of money, time and effort. The ice is very wet because it never seems to get cold enough. It doesn't break apart into actual cubes, it just drops sheets of ice and you have to break it apart yourself. It is extremely LOUD. Once it is full of wet half melted ice, the temperature just shuts off and all of it melts. Then you are left with a big tub of water that you have to lift out and dump. I returned the first one I had thinking it was a lemon, but the second one did the same thing. I am now upgrading to a different brand. There is a reason that this is half the price of most ice makers, please don't waste your time.

All the previous reviews are spot on. This product is inefficient. The ice melts at a rapid rate, so the machine is almost always running and using water. Compounding the fact that it always runs, when it does run, it is extremely LOUD! It is very annoying in a big open kitchen/dining area/living room. We thought we may have a faulty item, but the tech said this was the way it was designed and it was working properly. Stay away from this product as it is a complete piece of junk and waste of money!!!

agree with others. just plugged it in last night. The instruction manual is 2nd grade. misspelled words and the icon to select "size of cube" actually says, "Amount of Ice" and picture show a half empty bucket...called customer service and they set me straight on what the selection were for (size of cubes). nit picky I know, but poor manuals tells you something about the product. I also constantly hear the thing running (loud), the cubes are "wet", and you have to smash the sheets of ice. I called customer service and he said just use the scoop to smash the ice. really, I paid almost $1,000 for this and a cheap refrigerator can make separate ice cubes and this thing can't?

seriously, don't waste your money, go somewhere else.

We purchase a Samsung Refirigerator/freezer from Sears. It came with a 1 year warranty. I found out Square Trade was a fraction of the cost Sears charged for extended warranties, so I bought a 5 years extended warranty. As luck would have it, we encountered a problem about 10 months after we bought the unit. It was minor, but 1st, Sears said it wasn't covered, then told us to fix it ourselves. Finally they sent a tech out, who said he didn't have a clue. After the Square Trade warranty kicked in, we called about water in the crisper drawer. The tech they chose came out, fixed the 1st problem Sears didn't have clue about, then replaced a defroster panel. The fix seemed to work for about 2 weeks, then came back. The service tech refused to come back, so we called Square Trade. a different service tech came out, replaced the same panel and made a few modifications. This lasted a week. Again, once paid they did not want to come back. We finally called Samsung and arranged for a factory tech to service the unit. A called to Square Trade ensuered us they would fully cover the repair. The factory tech installed a $2 part that fixed everything. A call to Square Trade and an email with the receipt attached got a check mailed to us in 24 hours for the full amount. You can't do much better than that! I would recommend Square Trade to all my friends. I've placed claims on several items from eBay with good results, even used items. It's a small price to pay for worry free purchases.

Omni R200 Refrigerator and Icemaker Water Filter

Omni R200 Refrigerator and Icemaker Water FilterIt was time to replace my icemaker filter again, so ordered this one on Amazon. The problem is that this filter is made ONLY for the push-in type connection for small plastic tubing. My filter connects to a to nylon tubing line that requires screw-in metal fittings. My last filter was adaptable to either connection type, where as this filter is not. In the product description it states "Includes quick connect fittings for installation on 1/4-Inch plastic or copper refrigerator or ice maker water lines". I took that to mean it was adaptable to both quick connect or threaded connect as long as I had the parts...but this is not the case. So will have to buy another one tomorrow.

The filter looks fine but I could not install it myself since I have a different model installed now. I need a plumber to install it. The filter is supposed to last one year and this compelled me to buy it.

Filter was a replacement for an existing filter. The end connections are extremely easy to disconnect and reconnect. The whole exchange was done in a matter of minutes. My old R200 lasted 9 years before it plugged up, but they recommed it be done every yearI will follow that routine in the future.
