Must say, researching a refrigerator is a perilous endeavor, fraught with all kinds of misinformation and marketing hype, not to mention biased reviews on all the manufacturer websites that they've hand picked and pruned, so you never really know who to trust.

After much hemming and hawing and talking to some friends of friends in the business, we were told that Samsung was one of the better brands from a reliability standpoint. In addition, they happened to have some the most spacious designs and I had seen fewer horrifically bad reviews than other brands, so I decided to give them a chance.

By pure fate, my wife and I stumbled on this particular model in a store right before we pulled the trigger on an order for a slightly different model. This one, as you'll note in the photos, has no ice maker or water dispenser in the door. Furthermore, inside, it has no ice maker on the upper left shelf, taking up a ton of room and limiting your interior space. You also get back all the storage space on the left side door, whereas the other models you sacrifice this in order to have a dispenser. Since we rarely if ever used the ice/water dispenser in our old fridge door, we decided to forgo it this time around and get the extra space instead. In hindsight, this was the best decision we could have made! Not only is this model MUCH cheaper than the one with the ice maker and water dispenser, but it is also more efficient AND it has a ton more interior space, despite being slightly smaller (28.5 cu vs. 31.6). We still get the awesome 'cool select' pantry inside the fridge section, and essentially the same (but more spacious) layout as the 31.6 cu model for about 40% less money. It also looks cleaner/neater in our kitchen, with smooth, pearl white doors on both sides, you get the clean symmetry and there's less moving parts to wear out or break/replace/warranty/etc.

And yes, you still get ice, there's an ice maker in the freezer section, tucked away in the back that fills a bucket (optional, you can turn it off to get the extra freezer space) with ice. If you turn off the ice maker and remove the bucket, you have the exact same amount of storage space in the freezer as the other models, which is another huge plus.

As far as noise level, since I saw this a lot in other reviews, I have to say that this unit is supremely quiet. You can't hear it from the other side of the wall in an adjacent room, unless it is dropping ice into the bucket (not really any way to make that quiet on any brand of fridge). The compressor and fan are both very quiet, enough so that in an open kitchen-to-living room design, I don't have any issues watching TV while it's running. Heck, even when I'm eating dinner right in front of the fridge, the noise is a non-issue. Our old one was quiet, but this one is even better, so I really cannot complain at all about the noise level, it is fabulously quiet, at least for refrigerator standards.

I like the dual cooling circuits, so that you don't mix air between the freezer and the fridge sections, that is something I always wanted. I'm of the opinion that this has to be more efficient too, versus blowing freezer air into the fridge section. Additionally, the controls on this fridge are stupid easy, with one button to set the temp in the fridge, one for the freezer. No dials, no gimmicky stuff or moving parts to break. Clean, simple, crisp digital readout on the upper lip of the fridge's door frame, similar to a lot of designs I'd seen in Europe the last few years, and no wasted space inside for a control panel or any of that nonsense.

The lighting is spectacular, with ample LEDs that emit far, far less heat than the old incandescent bulbs and use much less electricity in the process. The light is bright, clean and easy on the eyes, especially if you open it up in the middle of the night for a drink or a snack once your eyes have already adjusted to the darkness. That used to annoy me insanely with our old fridge, I would go practically blind if I got up in the middle of the night to get a drink!

On the whole, this is simply a wonderful refrigerator and I would definitely buy it again. The price point compared to the larger models (which actually have LESS storage because of the ice/water dispenser setup on one side and one door) is dramatically lower, but all the same high dollar features and the extremely open layout are still there. You really get the maximum bang for your buck with this model. If you have a chance, compare it side-by-side at a brick-and-mortar store with the larger 31 cu model that has the ice maker in the fridge, and you'll see how much space you lose because of the assembly in the left side door. After doing that comparison and thinking about how much stuff we put in our fridge, this was a no-brainer decision for our family. The fact that it cost so much less, that was icing on the cake.

Maximum value for the dollar and a good quality brand, packed with a ton of amazing features, this is a definite buy. I would not hesitate to buy this again or to recommend it to friends and family.

What we like about it. Very stylish, modern looking, stainless steel is beautiful. Huge refrigerator, and no ice dispenser taking needed refrigerator room. Easy access to everything with french doors. Very sturdy build. Very well protected with wrapping on delivery so not a single scratch on it. Would have been very pleased, if it was just furniture. Stainless steel shows fingerprints everywhere, just a warning, but we knew that beforehand, and just remember to always use the handle or clean it frequently.

What we did not like about it: The refrigerator freezes everything, despite being on factory setting of 38F. We tried everything, turned the refrigerator setting on warmest 46F, freezer on warmest setting to 8F, crisper on warmest setting. Tried unplugging for ten minutes (resets it), then 30 mins, then an hour. But even with refrigerator on 46f, 2 days later, everything still freezing. Destroys fruit or vegetables in one night, frozen solid. When we went to ask that it be returned/replaced as it is brand new, we were told we were not the first with same complaint about refrigerator freezing things. So we went with another brand in similar size stainless steel.

We were amazed by the room in the frige. More fits in the door than I expected. After reading other reviews about freezing food I bought a frige thermometer that reads 38 with the frige set to 40. I do not have any problems with food freezing. One of the frige shelves folds in half if you would want to put something tall (maybe a vase of flowers) in the frige a nice option. Along with all the room another nice feature is the lighting it is bright and easy to find things even in the back of the frige. The freezer is also large we added a 20lb turkey at thanksgiving but still have room for our normal freezer food. If you need the room it's a good value and an attractive choice.

Letter to Consumer Reports:

I bought this SAMSUNG RF266ABRS fridge because it was recommended by Consumer Reports in August 2009. This fridge and other SAMSUNG fridges should be taken off the recommended list because there is an inherent design defect that causes ice buildup on the evaporator coils.

First there is a rattling noise as the fan hits the ice buildup.

Then the noise stops when the ice completely blocks the fan but then there is no more cooling happening.

There is even a class action lawsuit against SAMSUNG fridges:

Please look into this Samsung ice buildup problem. The Samsung fridges should definitively not be on the recommended list but put on the "do not buy" list. The ice buildup issue occurs about 1 year after purchase. SAMSUNG is not acknowledging the problem and does not help its customers.

Letter to SAMSUNG:

I am deeply unsatisfied on how SAMSUNG handled the warranty policy with my SAMSUNG Fridge French Door Model RF266ABRS. This fridge was defective starting Year 1 and was not repaired appropriately the 1st time. All was done on the 1st service visit was to defrost the evaporator not fixing the problem itself.

Of course, the problem reoccurred 1 year later and every year after that. Since the technician explained the problem, how to solve it and SAMSUNG customer service gave me a hard time because it was a few days over the 1 year purchase date, I dealt with it personally by unplugging the unit and let it sit unplug for 24 hours. Not a satisfactory resolution, just a quick workaround, until I got fed up with losing food and asked for SAMSUNG to resolve this problem once and for all.

First this problem should have been resolved the 1st visit. Secondly I learned recently from numerous complaints and videos on the web that this is a defective design in SAMSUNG fridges that causes the ice buildup on the evaporator.

Here is a video showing the defrost sensor modification kit to fix evaporator ice buildup. This is for the SAMSUNG RSH1 fridge but it is the same modification that was done on my fridge by the repair technician who came to my house:

Many SAMSUNG fridges have the same cooling design thus sharing the same ice buildup issue.

I was charged $104.68 to fix SAMSUNG own defective design! This is outrageous and no decent company would shift the cost from itself to their customers . It shows utter disrespect for its own customers, not counting the monetary damage. Sir, should I remind you that your customers are your most important assets and should be your priority number one!

SAMSUNG should have done everything in its power to help its loyal customers by fixing its defective fridges FREE OF CHARGE.

The technician explained that he had to move the defrost sensor away from the evaporator in order to let the defrost cycle run longer and completely defrost the evaporator from any ice buildup. He also put a wider drain clip. The older clip was too small. It would get iced up and not let water drain away from the evaporator. There is also a new metal clip that attaches to the heating element and goes inside the drain clip to heat any ice there if needed so the drain cannot get clogged. In addition, a new seal kit put on the market by SAMSUNG 3 months ago was used to seal the evaporator compartment to prevent moisture to get in and improve circulation airflow provided by the fan.

Whirlpool 8171414 KitchenAid Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack

Whirlpool 8171414 KitchenAid Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-PackWe have a LOT of particulates in our water and this flter does a fantastic job. Unfortunately performance drops quickly, reducing flow to an annoyingly slow drizzle. If you have a lot of particles and are not concerned with cysts etc, you may want to downgrade to the 8171413 which is also effective with chlorine and lead reduction but seems to last far longer before flow is restricted.

I replace my filter every year. I have purchased this filter every year, as it is the one that originally came with my fridge. Easy to install. Would recommend it to anyone. Nice price and quick delivery.

Silhouette Select Built-In Under Counter Ice Maker

Silhouette Select Built-In Under Counter Ice Maker
  • Built-in under counter ice maker includes built-in drain pump
  • Produces 32 lbs. of crystal clear cubes per day
  • Internal storage capacity of 25 lbs. of ice
  • Internal ice bucket is removable for easy cleaning
  • Seamless full wrap stainless steel door with matching handle and toe-kick

I purchased this ice maker and when it arrived we plugged it in and it was dead Danby told me to call a service tech, he said unit was unrepairable. Danby sent me a new unit Unit #2 arrived and we plugged it in and it made noises and then died. Called Danby again service tech said its dead leak in compressor . Called dandy they sent unit #3, no kidding. Unit 3 gets delivered and doesn't even start up. Poor service tech comes out again and says unit is dead broken compressor. He then tells me these units are junk and poorly made. I call Danby and they give me a full refund. Now I have 3 ice makers in my garage that I have to get rid of. I then purchased a Kitchen Aid ice maker and it works great...plenty of ice. You get what you pay for. STAY AWAY from this ice maker.

I purchased this ice maker thinking it would work fine in our bar. The price was so much cheaper than others that we were looking at and I really didnt want to spend a lot on this appliance. But now Im kicking myself. This may be a $1000 waste unless I can unload it on Craigslist. In my case, I just dont think I can live with it. If you are putting this in a garage or isolated closet it will probably function okay. It makes ice fine. Here are my issues with it:

1. Although the cube size is just right for me, one in three sheets do not break apart. Therefore, every time you reach in for ice you will be required to stab the sheets with the scooper to break them up. Not a huge deal, but really annoying after a while. The solid sheets are always on top because they dont fall as far. Again, "every" time you reach in.

2. It runs constantly. Because it is not as heavily insulated, the ice melts away quicker meaning more run time, more water. It runs constantly throughout the day.

3. My biggest complaint and the reason we cant live with this, is it is LOUD! it is louder than our dishwasher by far. We have this unit in our bar, built in under the counter. But Im telling you it is very loud! Since the ice melts quickly you constantly hear the water spraying inside to fill the reservoir. Then the water trickles over the metal plate and drips back into the reservoir as its making cubes. loud loud loud. like an outdoor water fountain. Again, imagine your dishwasher running with the kitchen sink spraying constantly, then you'll get the idea. Sometimes its better to pay up a bit and in this case I think it would have been a MUCH wiser decision for us. If you plan on putting this unit inside your house, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

This is a very low quality ice maker. It is a complete waste of money, time and effort. The ice is very wet because it never seems to get cold enough. It doesn't break apart into actual cubes, it just drops sheets of ice and you have to break it apart yourself. It is extremely LOUD. Once it is full of wet half melted ice, the temperature just shuts off and all of it melts. Then you are left with a big tub of water that you have to lift out and dump. I returned the first one I had thinking it was a lemon, but the second one did the same thing. I am now upgrading to a different brand. There is a reason that this is half the price of most ice makers, please don't waste your time.

All the previous reviews are spot on. This product is inefficient. The ice melts at a rapid rate, so the machine is almost always running and using water. Compounding the fact that it always runs, when it does run, it is extremely LOUD! It is very annoying in a big open kitchen/dining area/living room. We thought we may have a faulty item, but the tech said this was the way it was designed and it was working properly. Stay away from this product as it is a complete piece of junk and waste of money!!!

agree with others. just plugged it in last night. The instruction manual is 2nd grade. misspelled words and the icon to select "size of cube" actually says, "Amount of Ice" and picture show a half empty bucket...called customer service and they set me straight on what the selection were for (size of cubes). nit picky I know, but poor manuals tells you something about the product. I also constantly hear the thing running (loud), the cubes are "wet", and you have to smash the sheets of ice. I called customer service and he said just use the scoop to smash the ice. really, I paid almost $1,000 for this and a cheap refrigerator can make separate ice cubes and this thing can't?

seriously, don't waste your money, go somewhere else.

Vinotemp VT-28TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 28-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless

Vinotemp VT-28TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 28-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless
  • Freestanding digital wine chiller keeps up to 28 bottles properly chilled
  • Thermo-electric cooling system protects wine from unnecessary vibration
  • Ultra-quiet operation; does not use ozone-depleting chemicals
  • Energy-efficient dual-paned glass door; 6 pull-out shelves included
  • Measures 22 by 18-1/4 by 28-1/2 inches; 1-year limited warranty

Prior to purchase I had read various reviews about the unit's inability to properly cool. Despite the warning, I went ahead, hoping for better luck, as the unit had the best combination of price/capacity. I decided the best approach was to give the unit a trial run by getting it at my local target so that I could return it if it didn't work. I purchased a refrigerator thermometer along with it just to keep it honest. Sure enough, the unit was only able to knock about 10 degrees off of the ambient temperature, despite brazenly claiming to be at 56 degrees.

On the plus side, it was indeed quiet and sleek looking but it would've been nice to have some more cooling capability. For my purposes, however, this was fine. My intent was to prevent exposure to heat and I grew to like drinking my reds at about 65 degrees.

Flash forward one year and last night I reached into my cooler to find the bottles warm. A check of the thermometer showed that the inside of my vinotemp was now the balmiest spot in the house at 78 degrees. I tried cleaning the filter, unplugging etc. and once restarted the unit whirrs away uselessly; mindlessly warming the inside bottles. For $200, all I was able to coax out of this thing was a year of disingenuous underperformance.

Buy Vinotemp VT-28TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 28-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless Now

We bought this cooler to store some of our $50+ bottles of wine we don't have a huge collection by any means, but just wanted to make sure some of the better wine didn't get destroyed by a hot CA day.

The fridge took a day or so to cool down after filling it to capacity. I haven't tried measuring the actual temp using a seperate thermometer, but it says 54 and feels about the same. Although initially it was very quiet, it does whirr regularly, but it's still pretty quiet considering we have it 5ft from our living room couch and it doesn't bother us at all.

I wrote this review so I could include the capacity since one of my biggest problems when looking for a cooler was that it's very hard to tell what will actually fit. At max we filled this cooler with 2 magnums resting on the bottom, 3 champagne bottles and 17 bordeaux/burgundy style 750ml bottles. It suprised me that there was enough room for all this. The magnums fit diagonally (and there's not a lot of space, but it worked) after removing one shelf and raising the other. You won't be able to fit more than 3 champagne bottles on one shelf, but if you removed every other shelf I could see someone fitting up to about 12 or so champagne bottles total in the cooler. Yes, you should be a little careful when removing standard bottles because the fit is a little tight (just lift up the shelf above slightly and you will be fine) but the idea is not to be adding and removing bottles all the time so I don't think it's a big deal.

Hopefully that gives people an idea of the size of this cooler. It's worked out perfectly for us.

I got the unit from a target store on a great holiday sale. I probably wouldn't pay retail for it. I set it up and let it sit overnight, then plugged it in and let it sit overnight again. With the thermostat set at 55 (the lowest possible), my own thermometer placed inside reads 60. It seems to be able to hold at 60 pretty well as the ambient temp in my desert apartment fluctuates through the day (no higher than 80 for the ambient temp).

The 60 degrees is not the best temp for storing wine, but its really not that bad for my $20-and-under-per-bottle collection. As I understand it (after talking to lots of people), the extra few degrees will eventually cut short the life of the bottle, but should be fine for a few to several years. I don't think my wines will go un-drunk that long.

In summary, I bought this cellar/fridge to store my wines, not to preserve them for 20 years. I needed something that was between a closet and a regular fridge. I also wanted something that had low noise, so I went with this instead of a compressor model. I think it works well for these purposes, especially at the discount sale price. It looks nice and doesn't have too much extra bulk.

If you are looking for something for long term cellaring of finer wines, I would recommend looking for a slightly colder unit. If you just want decent storage, this may work fine for you.

(there's two of these same items listed on amazon with the same model number I own, so I put the same review on both one is VT28TEDS and the other is VT-28TEDS)

Want Vinotemp VT-28TEDS Thermo-Electric Digital 28-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and Stainless Discount?

This product is so good I bought a second one. I especially like the non-compressor cooling, which works very well. The digital readout indicates temperature to readily be maintained at my 60 degree setting, which I consider to be a good European wine cellar temperature. They are totally silent. I bought the first unit on Amazon, and the second from Target where it was on sale and much cheaper than the Amazon price. The unit's packaging was fine, and had no cosmetic damage. I have moved them twice within the family room without issues.

I just recently was given this wine fridge as a Wedding gift from my in-laws. I have to say that I am quite satisfied with it thus far. I was rather concerned when I first got it being that I instantly went online and checked out personal reviews of the product. It seems that on many different online sites including amazon, there are a lot of complaints that this fridge does not cool. To be honest, I am not having that problem at all thus far in the first week.

I followed the instructions, let it sit for over 2 hours prior to plugging in...then got it up and running. I let the fridge run for 2 days prior to putting any wine in it because I wanted to get a thermometer first to check the temperature since I had heard so many complaints regarding the temp. The fridge temp gauge read 55, and my thermometer read 57...quite close. I then put about 10 bottles in it and while having the door open the temp went back up to the low 60s. Well, I now have waited over night, and the temp gauge is reading 55 again...my thermometer is reading 56, and it appears to be working perfectly. I read many reviews that insist this fridge won't go below 60, or in some cases even below 65. I am clearly getting the right temperature on mine. All in all, great product so far.

Frigidaire PureSource WFCB Water Filter

Frigidaire PureSource WFCB Water FilterWe did not receive the product advertised.

The advertisement states you will receive a "Frigidaire PureSourcePlus Ice & Water Filter (WFCB, 46-9906)". The product did not come in a Frigidaire PureSourcePlus package...just plastic wrap. I installed the filter and the water came out jet black. I ordered two of them so I tried the second filter, and the water was jet black again. This has never happened with Frigidaire filter.

I checked the invoice and it said they are Frigidair WFCB/RC-200 "Compatible" Replacement Regrigeragor Water Filters. If the company is selling a "compatible" filter, and not the manufacturer's filter why does the Amazon site describes and has a picture of the Frigidaire filter?

I e-mailed the company and they replied "Thank you for your order and email. From your description your new filters need to be flushed."

I ended up spending a lot more money and bought a Frigidaire filter but the water now does not taste the same.

This has been my worst online purchase experiences with Amazon.

In addition, while we did not request a refund the company subsequently wrote back and stated that they would credit our account since we were not happy with the purchase. While the company's customer service department was prompt and responsive, the Amazon website description should reflect the item being purchased in order to avoid confusion.

This is not a Frigidaire filter. I asked waterfilteronline and amazon to stop selling this item as a Frigidaire filter. Not only does the picture show a Frigidaire box but the description of the filter states Frigidaire. The filter I ordered did not come in a box nor did it have any certification stamp. These filters will fit in your refrigerator, if you are willing to risk your families health on an unknown manufacturer. In Waterfiltersonline's response, they claim that they have sold thousands of these without any problems. Waterfiltersonline did promptly refund my money but have not stopped selling off brand filters as the real deal and have not removed the picture of the filter that they do not ship.

Buy Frigidaire PureSource WFCB Water Filter Now

Item is not a Frigidaire brand filter, as was advertised. At least the receipt acknowledges that it's a "compatible" replacement. It wouldn't be so bad if they had been honest about it. I probably would have bought it anyway. But I resent being deceived.

When you buy this item, make sure you are buying directly from Amazon and not another seller. The filter actually sold by Amazon is the genuine Frigidaire filter and comes in it's proper box. The other sellers are selling knock off filters that may or may not work.

If it says it's being sold by someone other than Amazon, look under the More Buying Choices and select the one from Amazon.com. Amazon will usually choose the cheapest seller for you by default, but in this case, that is NOT what you want. The bad reviews on this item are from people who ended up with knock off filters from non-Amazon sellers.

Want Frigidaire PureSource WFCB Water Filter Discount?

The advertising and picture are misleading. This is NOT an OEM Frigidaire WFCB as pictured. It is an after-market filter. No idea as to the quality, as there are no ratings on the package. The water quality is important to me or why would I be buying a filter at all. Also, as another customer stated, the water initially comes out black. May just be carbon residue? but I have never seen another filter do that.

In fairness, the seller issued a full refund with no hassle, but the purchase was a complete waste of my time due to Amazon allowing this to be advertised in this manner.

Even worse, after bringing this to an Amazon rep's attention several months ago, they have done NOTHING to change the seller's listing.

We purchased this Maytag bottom freezer refrigerator at a local big box home improvement store two years ago. I love the style and the convenience of the bottom freezer compared to my old side by side. Two years ago the price was reasonable at $900. I had always equated Maytag with high quality until I owned one. One year into owning this refrigerator it began collecting ice in the back of the freezer then the refrigerator quit working. Since it was only a year old I called a repairman and had to have a part replaced at a price of over $500. The ice maker is tempermental and inconsistently makes ice. Very disappointed. Will not purchase another Maytag appliance. The GE side by side that this replaced was great in comparison as it lasted over 15 years. Wish I had purchased another GE rather than this Maytag.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in July of 2012. It quit working in October. Maytag repairman did not have the replacement compressor that was needed. Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 10 days later. That refrigerator worked until the beginning of May 2013 (7 months later). Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 7 days later. We contacted Maytag after we received the new refrigerator and they were not willing to send us any compensation for aggravation or loss of food. Their customer service to say the least is non-responsive. We will never buy another Maytag refrigerator and we tell everyone we know not buy a Maytag refrigerator. Maytag had to know these refrigerators were defective and they should have recalled them. Home Depot Appliance manager told us there were multiple customers who had issues with these refrigerators.

There are many manufactures of appliances and our advice would be not to buy maytag!

Samsung RS267TDRS 26 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star

Samsung RS267TDRS 26 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy StarI have owned a Samsung fridge and have had nothing but problems with it. Samsungs I have found out have notoriously had cooling problems especially with the coils freezing. Don't just take my word for it, look up class action on Samsung fridges. I tried repairing this fridge twice with appliance repair companies to no avail. Once your fridge stops properly cooling, it more than likely will cost you less to buy another brand. I hate giving this fridge a bad review as I loved the design of the fridge and Samsung brand products in general but unfortunately they havent really figured out how to make a reliable fridge. For the cost of these appliances, you should get more than a year or so of reliable use.

There are several models involved in the class action, not just my model. So you can judge for yourself on whether you want to purchase a Samsung fridge but I wanted to share my experiences with Samsung brand refrigerators and put the information out there about the known defect.

This review is for a Samsung RS267TDBP which probably shares many similarities with its nearby model number cousins. I also published this review on Samsung's web site.

The review:

Temperature regulation seems to be excellent in both the refrigerator side and the freezer side. This unit is extremely quiet while running but the icemaker produces some strange (and funny) noises doing whatever it does.

Power freeze and Power cool features are excellent our newly delivered and set up fridge cooled down the fridge to 45 degrees within a couple of hours. I forgot how long it took to cool down the freezer side, but it was relatively fast. Be aware if *both* Power freeze and Power cool are selected, the fridge side will cool down FIRST, then it will start to cool down the freezer. We thought the freezer side wasn't working, but after a few hours, the freezer side started to cool.

The design of the interior is very well thought out allowing easy and convenient organization and access to food/drink.

One complaint about the product is the pull out drawer design. They are much harder to pull out than they should be due to the plastic drawer design. The drawer runners/guide are simply plastic against plastic there are no wheels or rollers. I noticed when fridge shopping as the price of the fridge increased, so did the ease of pulling the drawers in and out (and drawer quality). Looks like you need to get into a $2,000+ fridge to get a better drawer design.

There are many complaints about the LED lighting in this series of Samsung products the primary one being too little light. The lighting is *very* well distributed up and down on both sides, but it is for a fact a little on the dim side. While a bit of a detriment, the other strengths of the product make this less of an issue.

Unless you use a very large diameter glass or cup, the ice dispenser will shoot crushed ice all over the place. This is the most significant design flaw of this product.

No regrets about the purchase and I would recommend it to others assuming they understand the weaknesses.

Although the refrigerator is fine the ice maker is an absolute nightmare. It cannot keep up with even minor demand. It jams constantly requiring a removal and ice flys all over the floor. It crushes even though it is not on that setting. Frost builds up inside the icemaker. Also the front panel can easily be set incorrectly if you lean on it. It has shut down completely several times and required getting the manual out to turn back on. I would not recommend this and I will never buy another Samsung appliance.

Purchased this unit in July 2011 and had to return it because there was something wrong with the control panel and it would not allow me to select either cube or crushed ice unless I pressed hard along the top edge of the button. Then it would dispense the ice in a rather slow manner with a lot of very loud clunking noises (my old GE unit made comparatively little noise when dispensing ice, and dispensed it far more quickly). The seller ordered a new unit and replaced it the following week. The front panel worked fine on the second unit, but the unit would not dispense the ice at all! Returned for a full refund. As it is quite a hassle to keep changing refrigerators, we could not take a risk on another Samsung.

I thought that the unit could use more lighting at the front because when the unit is full of food items, a bit too much light gets blocked. We found also that you will need to double-check that the freezer door is fully shut because it sometimes appears that it is shut but really isn't. That happened to us twice and the second time it was very slightly ajar for a couple of hours and condensation built up inside and then froze rather thickly all over the glass shelves and walls of the freezer.

Samsung has made a very stylish-looking unit and for the most part it works well, but it does appear that they have some things to learn about manufacturing refrigerators.

Owned this RS267 refrigerator for a year now and it does a great job of keeping food fresh a long time compared to our $500 standard GE refrigerator. At first it was making a little more noise than expected but I discovered one of the back wheels wasn't quite touching the floor (refrigerator was level but not the floor). I put a piece of felt under that wheel and it became much more quiet. The LED lighting inside takes a while to get use to but you do. The ice maker is slow to make ice but we don't use too much ice anyway. If we turn the ice maker off sometimes when we turn it back on again it doesn't work even though the panel light says it's on. Turning it off then on again always seems to fix the problem (sounds like a circuit board issue).

KitchenAid Pro Line Series KFCP22EXMP 36 21.8 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator

KitchenAid Pro Line Series KFCP22EXMP 36 21.8 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door RefrigeratorYou would think if you're spending $3k on refrigerator, they might step it up in the quality department. Not so much with KitchenAid. We ended up getting the matching pro-line fridge, dishwasher, and 36" range. $10k all in. After 9 months, the compressor went out on the refrigerator. Fortunately it wasn't after 12 months, so it was covered by warranty. As if we hadn't already decided, the repair guy told us we should "definitely" get the extended warranty of 5 years (max). So, for another $300 bucks the crappy workmanship is on their dime. If we need a brand new one after that, so be it I guess c'est la vie.

Before purchasing, we were already on the fence given the reviews we read; I'm now wishing we let them sway us more. It's tough because this particular line LOOKS so nice. You're willing to pony up for a higher end kitchen, and you convince yourself that since you're paying for the high end line, you won't get screwed with a cheap crap product. Falseroni.

Typically I'm able to offer an alternative when I write a poor review, because I almost immediately rectify the bad purchase with a good one supported by positive reviews. In this case, I'm stuck with my uber expensive shiny piece of crap. The best I can do is hope none of you make the same mistake.

Note: I did not purchase from amazon; the commentary is on the appliance regardless of where you purchase it.

We purchased the full suite of Kitchenaid Pro Line appliances. The refridgerator is the best item among them, but still very cheaply made and not worth the money. One of my handles arrived with a gash in it and was replaced.

The inside drawers are made of very flimsy thin plastic and will likely not last. The roominess is pretty good and the layout is logical.

So far, it appears as though it is cooling evenly. Descent fridge but just definitely not worth the extra money Kitchenaid is charging. Also their quality control is terrible as 3 out of 4 items arrived with problems.

I have this model without the ice maker.

This are absolute crap products. Maytag does not provide any customer support. Small parts fail before light bulbs. I just wanted a copy of a service manual for removing and testing the light switches--all three of which failed. Maytag would not provide any sort of support. The online users manual and parts list is it. No service information on how to remove a switch without damaging it is available.

Plan to pay for expensive service calls to replace minor parts. FU Maytag!

I bought this thinking Maytag build a good product, and I am so sorry I bought it.

Frigidaire FFTR1814LB 18.2 Cu. Ft. Black Top Freezer RefrigeratorFrigidaire FF

Frigidaire FFTR1814LB 18.2 Cu. Ft. Black Top Freezer Refrigerator
  • 18 cu. ft. top freezer refrigerator
  • Two Store-More humidity-controlled crisper drawers
  • Store-More gallon door shelf
  • Two wire sliding shelves
  • Three fixed full-width door racks

If you are considering a new refrigerator stay far far away from Frigidaire. I used our new one for 3 1/2 months and the freezer started frosting up and the refrigerator was only keeping things 1/2 cold. We have had 4 service calls and 20 phone calls to Frigidaire. As of today, it will be the 6th time I have had to empty to frig to have another repairman come and supposedly "FIX" it. When you call Frigidaire, they are rude and totally uncaring. The only way we finally got some action was by going to Lowe's (where we bought the appliances) and spending two hours there with the appliance manager who finally got some response from Frigidaire. I would NEVER buy another one of their appliances. (The only plus (?) is that you do get to talk to people in America as opposed to Pakistan/the Phillipines/India/etc etc). But it doesn't do you much good if there is no resolution to your problem. In all the calls we made, there was only one rep that took the time to read through all our documentation.

I have had this refrigerator for two months now. Two defective parts have not yet been replaced as of today. I don't understand the delay. I think Shannon is the only person working there.

Very light weight and roomy on the inside, I just love the shelf room on the doors. I had some complications putting some parts on, however the freezer is very roomy, just love it. The color adds dimensions to the kitchen and makes it a more inviting room, maybe i should have tried to get it in pink.

Green Filter for Samsung RM255LASH NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, C...

Green Filter for Samsung RM255LASH NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, C...Works great with my Samsung RM255LASH. Fits right in the filter outlet. But when I tried to take it out of the filter outlet, I had to get a large enough pliers to pull it out. I guess I can live with that. Other than that, water tastes good and got no problems.

This product is a great replacement for the high cost factory filter for the Samsung fridge. We have used this filter for a few months now and have not lost any water pressure or experienced a degradation in the taste. I will definitely be buying this filter again from this company, THANK YOU!!!

Frigidaire 5303918301 Garage Kit for Refrigerator

Frigidaire 5303918301 Garage Kit for Refrigeratorgot this before last winter

used to empty my freezer every winter as everything would defrost in a cold spell of several days

this solved the problem

easy to self install

I purchased a Kenmore 18.2 cu ft Refrigerator (Top Freezer) for the garage and needed the freezer to work correctly. This kit fits pretty much all Frigidaire/Kenmore Top Freezer Refrigerators 2001 or later. Do a quick google of "how to install garage refrigerator heater kit", and you will see a result with step by step instructions with pictures. It didn't take me more than 5 minutes, and it works.

This was a cheaper option than buying a Gladiator fridge for the garage. Cost of refrigerator (18.2 cu ft) at Sears and this kit: $405 plus tax. Gladiator refrigerator (19.0 cu ft): $1080 plus tax.

After 12 hours of the installation, the freezer and refrigerator are working at correct temps. Outside temp has been 32/15 (day/night), and now the freezer cycles between 3 and 8 degrees, with the refrigerator staying at 35 degrees. Before, the freezer cycled at 29-35 degrees. No more freezer burnt meat.

So far the heater kit has solved my freezer issue. It was an easy 5-minute install. Other refrigerator / freezer manufactures should offer a simlar kit.

Turns out my refrigerator had electronic switching and this unit wouldn't

work. Instead, I modified the refrigerator to keep the light

on all the time and replaced the standard light bulb with 10

Watts worth of Christmas lights.... Works well so far.

This garage kit did the trick. It works like a dream. It got here fast and I'll use the seller again. Wonderful!
