Electrolux EWF2CBPA PureAdvantage Refrigerator Water Filter

Electrolux EWF2CBPA PureAdvantage Refrigerator Water FilterThe Electrolux EWF2CBPA Pure Advantage Refrigerator Water Filter was a breeze to order on Amazon and it showed up on time as promised.

Once the filter was recieved my 14 year old son then installed it when it came in using the refrigerators water filter installation instructions. Be sure to follow the WATER FILTER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR MODEL OF REFRIDGERATOR! I have found instructions for refrigerators online prior to installing any water filters (I have 4 refrigerators I maintain).

In my experience "as a minimum" you should ALWAYS be sure to turn off the refrigerators built in automatic ice maker before removing the water filter, then I run several glasses of water through the refrigerators water dispenser. I do this using a large sized clean/clear water glass, and then run the water from the refrigerator dispenser until the water in the glass is coming out of the refrigerator dispenser clean and clear. Beware after several glasses filled with water that sometimes the water may look a little cloudy from air bubbles coming out of the refrigerator water dispenser, if this occurs let the filled water glass stand for a minute or so and in my experience it has always cleared up. I typically run no more than one gallon of water through the filter after it has been changed.

Note: I have always witnessed the second and third glasses of water the dirtiest out of my refrigerators water dispenser after changing the water filter. The black color is the Carbon Particulate off the filter (THIS IS NORMAL). Also note that if you forget to turn off the ice maker and do not dispense water correctly, what may happen is the automatic icemaker can cycle (make ice) and the blackish colored filter residue (Carbon particulate) will end up in your refrigerators ice dispenser. If this occurs you shouldn't panic, run a few glasses of water from the refrigerator water dispenser to be sure the water is clear/clean. I would personally then dump out the ice for a couple of days or longer, just until the ice comes out clear/clean again (no blackish colored carbon residue from the filter).

If you have any questions of why Carbon is used in a water filter I found this on Wikipedia at the following web addressWater filter reviewed web address:

Does not fit properly for older models, yet gives replacement number of same. Leaks, blows filter out of recess, floods everything. Someone missed part numbers on this one and I know it wasn't me.

Nothing wrong with filter. Description not clear on if it would fit my fridge. Mine takes a EWF1-CBPA type filter. Product was what it said to be just not real clear on the models it would fit.

I was going to return this item as I did not think it was filtering properly. Recommend running water through it for longer than the recommended amount of time at the tap and also soaking it in water possibly. I finally got it to filter better.

The filter doesn't seem to fit as well as the one that was in the fridge before even though the specs say this is the correct filter. The print on the front of the filter was slightly different as well.

It appears to be a genuine Electrolux filter but does not seem to work properly.

Does not fit "all Electrolux ICON refrigerators with a slide-out cartridge located in the front of the refrigerator compartment". My original cartridge is also an NGFC 2000 but says the "replacement cartridge is model FC300". So, pay attention to the replacement model number.

Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap Guard

Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap GuardWorks great UNTIL you turn on your oven (FYI-I have a brand new "cool touch" MAYTAG gas range), the GLUE seperates from the magnet and now it looks like a Salvador Dali painting & the SELLER WILL NOT RESPOND to my EMAILS!!!

Save your money, buy something else.

I thought these were T-shaped, but they are L-shaped and didn't cover the gap between counter and stove. They are supposed to be magnetic, but I'm not sure they are. They didn't fit my situation well at all. I found T-shaped silicone extenders at Wal-Mart for about $6 each.

Buy Stovetop Extender SE24BLA Oven Gap Guard Now

Even after seeing other reviews, that stated they melted and pulled away from the magnet, I had to try these because they were L shaped. I could not find an L shaped stainless steel. I loved the way the looked when I first got them. However, the first time I used a large pan, they melted. Very dissapointed that a product designed for a stove cannot handle the heat.

I really like this stovetop extender. I bought a set before this that cost less, but I got what I paid for! This fits so low and snugly against my stove that it is hardly noticeable, and others who have seen it have commented on how nice it looks.

A very satisfied customer!!

Apart from this being exactly what I needed it would have helped in the description to know, ordeing "1" means a set (2 pieces). I suppose logically that would be the case but I went with the literal description and ordered "2." Naturally I wound up with extra.

Whirlpool 25 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - ED5KVEXVQ

Whirlpool 25 Cu. Ft. White Side-By-Side Refrigerator - ED5KVEXVQThe refrigerator looks and works fine. However, the water line of its water dispenser broke in less than two years of usage. We can no longer use the water dispenser.

The water line (pipe/tube) was obviously defective -it is not something that you would expect it to break.

But the follow up experience has been very disappointing. I called Whirlpool support to get some hints on where to get the tube and how to install. After a long interaction with the voice-operated device and after giving a great deal of information and confirming my address, telephone number, refrigerator type, model number, etc, I was informed that that the office is closed and I should call back on Monday. If the support office is closed, why collecting so much information from me? I called back on Monday; the same story (lots of information was collected) and after a long while, I was told to call a local service man.

After two days of calls, and reading online resources, I still have been unable to identify the part number and instructions on how to replace the line. The manual says nothing about such a problem.

Whirlpool refrigerator model ED5KVE series are TOO NOISY !!! Do NOT buy one or you will be bothered daily !!! According to Sears' customer servife when complained, the noise is "due to the Energy Star rating", i.e. it is a price of saving energy with an annual energy consumption is ~$570. The trade off is not worth it.

Frigidaire 240323002 Door Bin for Refrigerator

Frigidaire 240323002 Door Bin for RefrigeratorWe purchased this FRIGIDAIRE side by side for our home and rental property, last year! We are a two person family and the rental property was an older man and women. Approximately, 9 months after purchase we noticed fractures, tiny vein like splits in the bottom of a few bins while cleaning them, on both refrig. We assumed they were natural plastic folds and ignored them. two months ago ,one Gallon bin (# 240-324502) came crashing to the floor, when our niece opened the refrigerator door. The bin held mustard, ketchup and assorted salad dressing bottles. The Gallon bin is rated for two gallons of milk. THIS WOULD NEVER HOLD THAT WEIGHT! The bin broke away at the hinges and the fracture finally broke the bottom out. We assumed she pulled on it and did not contact FRIGIDAIRE! Two days ago, I opened the frig door and another on came crashing to the floor, breaking glass bottle condiments on my kitchen floor. The same breaks and fracture in the plastic were apparent. THESE BINS ARE CHEAP AND DEFECTIVE! I contacted FRIGIDAIRE and they told me its over the year warranty, SORRY; and gave me all the phone numbers, web addys, parts locations in Jacksonville one hour away) and info to purchase some more PLASTIC BINS! GALLONS ARE $43.58 , Smaller bins are $34.50, plus shipping and handling! When I checked our rental properties refrigerator, our tenants had one broken bin in the garage already! All were already fractured!

I spoke with FRIGIDAIRE AGAIN! Explaining to them this is a defective plastic and needs their attention. I was told for a service fee of aprox $125.00, they would send out a rep to view the plastic bins for defects. But only then would it be noted that they were defective and it was their opinion that had the last word.

Who thought that game up over there at FRIGIDAIRE?? Make the customer pay out of pocket $125.00 bucks for a FRIGIDAIRE REP to tell you what you already know they will say.." Sorry, they are not defective", and be out $125.00 and still have no bins to hang on your refrigerator door inside this big stainless steal over priced chill box?? Are they that cruel and uncaring?

That deal already sounds BIAS and being out $125.00 is not fair game. So, all in all this is my OPINION:

They make money off these broken bins! BIG BUCKS! They want them to break away and make you think its your fault! Your kids are pulling on them, you are chilling 50lb weights in the bins, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM HERE, not FRIGIDAIRE!!

It the lowest of lowest scams. FRIGIDAIRE Produces cheap break away plastic bins that can't hold a bag of marshmellows, yet rate them for two gallons of milk, and keep the customer re-purchasing their parts. I'd be ashamed to be the engineer who rated these! It was probably a monkey with some building blocks and a banana reward system, named BOBO the chimp!

FRIGIDAIRE is not true to its customers. FRIGIDAIRE is GUILTY of producing Cheap bins for a high grade expensive refrigerator and refuse to do anything about it! "FRIGIDAIRE" SHAME ON YOU!!!

We will never purchase, FRIGIDARE APPLIANCES again! WE WILL PASS THE WORD ABOUT THEIR CHEAP BINS, RE: FB,MS, Quepasa,Blogs,Tweets,Emails, letters and web!Just like the their overwhelming many "Frigidaire parts" sites! I adore the internet for this, getting it out there for as many people to see as possible! We pray this stopped someone from making this mistake and purchasing from a BIG company who found away to never stand behind their product! Unless, you want to pay for a FRIGIDAIRE REPRESENTATIVE to say it to your face? It can be arranged.

The solution is to NOT buy the refrigerator in the first place. An expensive lesson for us. The flimsy clips on this bin spontaneously shattered and dumped everything on the floor when I gently tugged the door open one day. It was the LEAST-used bin in the fridg, just a few condiments.

Also, the crisper drawer wasn't completely closed one day, and parts of THAT drawer AND the shelf it hangs on shattered when the closing door nudged it shut as it closed.

A similar shelf/drawer arrangement in the freezer broke from (gasp!) the weight of 8-10 pounds of frozen food in the drawer. All told, it's been close to $200 to replace all the the cheap junk with more cheap junk. Pathetic, but I'm sure Frigidaire sees that as a huge success story.

Sadly when I went back to the store to see if other fridges might be an improvement, their shelves and bins looked equally flimsy.

Buy Frigidaire 240323002 Door Bin for Refrigerator Now

I don't know if the title to my review was descriptive enough, but I will say it another way these bins are worthless I can't believe they would put them into a refrigerator to hold milk, what a joke. I was upset when my two year old broke the 1st one I thought he had pulled on it. Then my wife broke the 2nd one. Junk and I agree I am sure electrolux (who owns frigidaire) loves that they screwed us, but people remember quality.

Read Best Reviews of Frigidaire 240323002 Door Bin for Refrigerator Here

It deserves zero star. The shelves keep breaking, the design is so flawed and the quality so cheap. I replaced all 3 door bins but finally gave up because the expense was getting ridiculous for replacement bins lasting no more than a couple months with light use.

Now I have a mostly useless fridge door where I can't store anything. Very unhappy customer, but the company must be laughing all the way to the bank, making a lot of money from people buying replacement shelves over and over.

Needless to say, I will never buy a Frigidaire appliance again. And next time I buy a fridge, I'll buy one with molded door shelves if they still make them.

Want Frigidaire 240323002 Door Bin for Refrigerator Discount?

We have a Prof. Series side by side, stainless fridge, the glass / plastic feeezer shelves are poorly designed, the extruded "clip" on le leading edge fits poorly and looks like a child designed it.

The plastic frige shelves are totally trash (I am a desiger of injection molded products, have been for 25 yrs).

Anyway, this is our last Frigidaire product. I hear the Germans make good stuff, maybe time to look into that!

GE WR30X10097 Icemaker Assembly for Refrigerator

GE WR30X10097 Icemaker Assembly for RefrigeratorLikewise I also waited nearly a year before buying this ice maker . I did all the troubleshooting myself to verify that this was the problem. Found other websites selling this product for nearly double and just didn't want to spend the money. When I saw it for $126 it was too good to pass up. Same manufacturer and model as the original (Samsung). Just plugged it in and a couple hours later it is making ice.

I finally caved and bought this product as a replacement for our icemaker that broke over a year ago. I was hesitant because the icemaker that came with our GE Profile refrigerator was not durable at all especially given that the fridge was only 3 yrs old when the plastic ice level indicator arm broke off and eventually the unit stopped making ice. I am pleased to say that the replacement icemaker is working great! It doesn't seem nearly as noisy as the original one and makes ice at an acceptable rate.

Not a lot to say about it. It arrived quickly, and once installed it started to make ice. That's all I was expecting, so I'm very pleased with this product.

Bosch : SHE55M15UC 24 Evolution 500 Series Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel

Bosch : SHE55M15UC 24 Evolution 500 Series Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel
  • 5 Wash Cycles
  • 19 Hours Delay Start
  • XL Flexible Silverware Basket
  • 2 Cup Shelves
  • Silence Rating of 48 dBA

I bought this model to replace a prior bosch dishwasher that lasted 13 years of everyday use. This model does everything my last model did and more. I rarely do any pre-wash on the dishes and I have yet to have one come out dirty (same with my last bosch). To say this is quiet is an understatement. If there is any other noise in the room like a refrigerator or talking you will not hear this unit run (be sure to install the two bottom covers along with the noise insulation thats provided). Its very quiet. Lots of adjustments in the rack as well as height and many wash options. The front controls are a big plus and something I was looking for rather than the hidden. Most of the time I use the quick wash (approx 30 mins) and that is all thats needed. Plastics don't dry but that was the case with my old unit as well, everything else dries fine though. This was also the #1 ranked unit in CR beating out some much more expensive models. I am quite shocked by the poor reviews here as virtually every review on other sites are excellent. Not sure whats up with that but mine has performed exactly as I expected. If something changes I always update reviews and will answer any questions if someone adds a comment that needs a response.

One of the other reviewers stated the bottom rack will not hold heavy dishes. Makes me wonder if they have their models mixed up. The bottom rack actually does not have rails but rides atop molded runners pressed into the stainless steel sides. I am not sure what kind of weight it would take to have the rack come off but surely the rack would bend before the sides give out. I can push down on it will a lot of force and its solid. I would think you could safely load 50 pounds of weight in the lower rack without any issues at all.

Update 5/23/2012

I am close to a year owning this and have had no issues. Still quiet and cleans like it did on the first wash. Use it 3 to 4 times a week. I use the powerball tablets as suggested in the manual. No negatives to report.

Update 3/16/2013

Still running like new. No issues !

Buy Bosch : SHE55M15UC 24 Evolution 500 Series Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel Now

We did a lot of research 15 months ago and selected this Bosch dishwasher. Consumer reports rated it high and the key drawbacks we saw were the smaller interior size compared to our previous dishwashers and the lack of a food "disposal" system. Many of the high efficiency washers have a filter basket that has to be removed periodically and cleaned out. That is the case with this one.

Shortly after our first use with the dishwasher we were smelling a lingering egg smell on the glassware. At first it was lingering and then it became strong and gross like rotten eggs. We called Bosch. They told us to change detergents. Same problem. Talked to Bosch they said we needed to turn our water heater temp up. Same problem. Talked to Bosch we needed to remount the drain hose an extra 6 inches higher than the instructions stated. Same problem. Talked to Bosch we should rinse our dishes better (what?!!). Same problem. Talked to Bosch our water must be too hard... Huh? We never had that problem before. Same problem. Bosch said we cook with too much oil. $%@$^@$%@$???? Every time we called to get help they told us some other goofy thing to blame something other than their dishwasher. The one solution we found was to put white vinegar in the washer when it was in the middle of the cycle that made things liveable. We would go through a gallon of white vinegar every two weeks.

Something we saw all the time was a gross, gooey sludge developed on the filter and the water that was left in the bottom of the dishwasher was dirty (high efficiency units leave a little water in the bottom under the cover). I would clean gooey yellow-orange-brown-sludge-butter-muck off the filter 3 times each week. Gross. No wonder the dishes smelled.

About 6 months into the ordeal (mind you, we are eating on dishes that smell awful but appear clean) we call Bosch and tell them we have had it and we request that they replace the dishwasher. We have a one year warranty, right, and clearly there is some type of defect with this dishwasher. What did Bosch say? "Oh, I am sorry to hear of your problem, but we don't have any record of you having any concerns with this dishwasher." What?!!! All the calls from our home, that they logged our home number with and provided us a log number yet none of that was in their system. So what now? We need to start a process with a service call to get things in order. Great! In my mind, another delay tactic.

First service call: The repair man finds no problems mechanically everything works (yep, we know). It took us 2 months to convince the service person there was a problem. At 10 months we were getting concerned that we were going to be stuck with this awful dishwasher so we called the reputable dealer where we purchased it. They told us "good luck, Bosch will never replace it." They were nice about it, but it was clear that others have had issues with Bosch and the company doesn't take care of their appliances under warranty.

The good news we did buy an extended warranty at the time of purchase. On the day the extended warranty kicked in we started a 3 month process to show the dishwasher was defective/unfixable. The repairman was helpful and within 3 visits noted that the unit was unrepairable. We received a check to replace the unit. We purchased and installed an LG dishwasher and all is well. Smell is gone, dishes are clean. The dishwasher has more space and has a soft food disposer (no more filter cleaning). Turns out it wasn't my water heater or hard water or too much oil or too little rinsing or the detergent.... All that stuff is the same and the LG cleans well and doesn't leave a rotten egg smell on the dishes.

The reason I bought the LG washer was I read a review where a guy talked about researching appliance companies from the standpoint of how they treat their customers after the sale. His research showed that LG treats their product owners great. I researched the LG web site and found a lot of great resources and confirmed several of the points this gentlemen made. Then I contrasted that to the ridiculous way Bosch treated my family and me.

In a nutshell the Bosch dishwasher I purchased was defective and the bigger issue was Bosch as a company treated me and my family horribly as we were trying to fix and resolve the problem. My experience causes me to stay well clear of Bosch appliances.

Read Best Reviews of Bosch : SHE55M15UC 24 Evolution 500 Series Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel Here

We've had this dishwasher just over a year, and I'm writing this review now because we finally figured out how to get it to dry dishes once washed.

First, it replaced an excellent LG (which we gave to our kids) because the LG was white and there seems to be some sort of law that you can't have a white dishwasher with a stainless steel refrigerator or range. The LG was the quietest dishwasher we'd ever had, often having to check it to make sure we'd turned it on. Well, this Bosch is comparable. It is extremely quiet in all but the "drain cycle." That's to be expected, and even that is quiet, well, as quiet as the LG and quieter than out old old GE.

We required the buttons be on the outside of the door, NOT on top so that they disappear when the door is closed. Believe it or not, this cut our choices in half. Another issue was the handle. In a galley kitchen (or not), we would not have a dishwasher with a handle that sticks out even if you could have another dish towel hanging. We definitely wanted flush "handles" which, btw, is how we ended up with the Bosch counter-depth (flush) refrigerator.

The capacity is good, not great, one reason why I can only give it four stars. People talk about "holding place settings for 6," but they never mention what happens to those place settings when you add a pot or pan or a broiling rack or pan! But we're only two people and on a daily basis, this more than meets our needs.

Drying: Ah, drying. This has been a problem with many of our dishwashers. We've tried all the products for drying from Jet-Dry to a "cake" that was made to fit in the dispenser. We washed the dishes after dinner and let it go through the cycles and left the dishes and pots and pans to dry overnight. In the morning, there would still be spots that were wet though the dishes were dry and squeaky clean. Basically, we were running into the age-old problem on the lips of pots and the tops of cups filling with too much water for the machine to dry. Cups we dealt with by lying them on their sides, and that really worked. Pots or pans with lips we loaded on top when possible, and they were the first things we took out in the morning, and hand wipes the lips. And now so we added 60 seconds to the unloading routine all is well.

In the old days, dishwashers had a heating element in the bottom and did a better job of drying. But in the old days, you couldn't have a conversation in the same room as the dishwasher, they were so noisy. You learn to live with these things.

Washing, this gets 5 stars. Quiet, this gets 5 stars. Reliability, 5 stars. (Never a problem or repair.) Capacity and price ratio, four stars. Would we get another? Probably.

Want Bosch : SHE55M15UC 24 Evolution 500 Series Full Console Dishwasher - Stainless Steel Discount?

This is an exceptional unit. I have had KitchenAid, Bosch and Maytag dishwashers previously, and each successive unit seemed more quiet than the one before. This unit replaced a Maytag that just didn't clean well anymore after about 8 years of operation.

I was a little concerned about this unit not being a self cleaner as I didn't want food recycling back onto the dishes -a problem I have had in the past.

So here is the scoop.

1. The unit installs easily. Be careful with the door top though on installation as that can get scratched if you need to "jimmy" the unit in (sometimes if you have hardwood floors that don't go all the way into the dishwasher bay this can be tricky).

2. This dishwasher cleans as advertised. It washes dishes without pre-rinsing, and ones that have one day dried food also. It is a superior washer.

3. This dishwasher is quiet. Wow, is it quiet. Of all the units I have had it is probably half as loud. I have always aimed for good quality units, so the others were not bad. This unit makes less noise than the 2 fish tanks I have in my kitchen dining area. It is that quiet. Great job Bosch.

4. OTHER: The unit has LESS water wands than previous generations of dishwashers. My Maytag had 4 wands. This unit has 3 (well 2 wands, and a sprayer assembly on the very top). I suspect they use less for higher pressure. Whatever it is, this dishwasher cleans. It works! Great job Bosch.

5. OTHER: The food waste filter has not been an issue. Most little food scraps are getting cleared from the washer. Also, the filter is not getting grimed with grease as I had experienced with a previous unit.

5. Negative: not a biggie, but the wine glass holding facility is a bit weak -you need to be careful opening the upper tray if you have wine glasses, or they will move and potentially break (yeah, I broke one).

6. Negative: you do have some flexibility in installing the unit on how far "out" the door protrudes. If you install it protruding too much, then watch out if you use the counter top above the dishwasher as you may rub up against the on button. If this happens, you will need to adjust the unit farther in.

Overall, I highly recommend this dishwasher. It cleans and it is quiet. It looks very sharp in stainless steel. And you don't need to wash your dishes beforehand in order for it to work!

I'll update this over the next few months, but after the first two weeks of using this Bosch my wife and I are nothing but pleased.

We have three boys who eat a lot and subsequently we run the dishwasher one or two times a day. The first time I ran this, I couldn't hear it at all and had to put my hand on it to verify it was running. Also opened it to make sure water was dripping as typical when you open a washer mid-cycle. If it's quiet in the house, you can hear it running but barely. You can also hear when the washer is purging water before and after the rinse cycles through the drain but that's not bad either. But if you have the TV on or have kids in the house, you generally can't hear it at all.

But if it's quiet but doesn't clean, what's the point? We've had no issues with cleaning due to the washer. We have hard water in our area and the only issue we had some problems with spotting, etc. was when we didn't have the rinse agent in with standard detergent or using our usual special detergent. That was the same with any of the washers we or our friends have or have had.

Both the top and bottom baskets have lots of slots for things and at least 50% of them will fold down to accommodate whatever you are trying to wash.

Also, there's a timer to let you know how long the wash cycle has left. Not essential but nice.

Only issue we've had in two weeks is the door is extremely heavy (I believe a spring loose or missing). It has slipped or people new to using it have just let it drop. It goes fast enough I have worried about our dog. With the repeated drops the door has gone past horizontal. I scheduled a tech repair today and will update this once we see what normal should be.

But again, no issues with cleaning or sound. Both have been great for the first two weeks of use. You'd hope that'd be the case. Will update after we get the door squared away and again at the six-month mark.

--------------update on door-----------------

The door issue was as the comment from Lynn said contractor screws that were too long. After the fix by Bosch (who's repairman said this was fairly common for appliances installed by contractors), the door is back to out-of-the-box condition.

New observations:

-the insulation on this thing is amazing. If the cycle is done running even two hours previous, the dishes and air inside is still really warm. I'm guessing once hot water goes in, it stays hot.

-drying dishes can be an issue if you run out of rinse agent or seem to run it on Auto Wash vs. Regular Wash. I'm going to keep a better eye on this as well.

-if you have any back issues, the bottom rack is extremely low to the floor. Likewise since the controls are on the door, there's more room in the top of the washer too. Again, lots of room for almost anything you could stick in it.

Again, overall satisfaction is high. We'll see where we're at in two more months.

We bought this unit as a gift for a family member. He took it out of service after a short time because it was too loud. We put it in our garage where noise is not much of a problem. It worked OK during the cool months. Now that it's getting warm in North Texas the unit isn't doing the job. I retired it when it wouldn't chill bottles below 65 degrees.

If you use it in a 72 degree air conditioned room and are hard of hearing this is a nice unit.

GE WR60X10185 Refrigerator/Freezer DC Evaporator Fan MotorI bought this because mine was making a whining noise. After installing it, it was quieter but still at low speeds whines a little. Gave it a 3 star because it did not totally fix the issue. If you do this your self you will need a pin pusher tool to remove one of the pins from the original plug from the defrost thermister. I got in the repair not prepared and ended up having to solder wires together.

Milk spoiling? Fridge runs and runs and is cold in the back of the freezer, but no air blows when you open it up? You can fix your fridge! Rather than throw out that >$1000 fridge, buy a simple to install replacement part!

This part was an exact drop-in replacement for the old motor in my GE refrigerator (same Panasonic part number).

I did have to remove a molded on silicone rubber mounting piece on the old motor's wiring harness (this is seen in some photos of this motor out on the web) so I could mount it on the new motor. If you want to do this (optional, OCD engineer step), slice the rubber carefully lengthwise along the direction that the wiring runs so that you can free it from the over-molded part. Once you have the old wiring harness free, you can slip the rubber mount onto the new motor's wiring harness in such a way that the new wires run where the old wires were placed.

While you have the fridge opened up for service, you should go ahead a check the controller board for damage (specifically the power resistors). Check the web and youtube for how-to videos that show how to measure voltage on the control board to see if it is damaged as well (Amazon sells these boards as well). I didn't need them, but I bet there are videos that walk you through the replacement process for the motor itself.

Now my fridge works great again! Spoiled milk? A thing of the past!

I gave this motor only 4 stars because although Amazon went above and beyond getting me the new motor by Monday afternoon when ordered Saturday afternoon, the old motor should not have failed in the way that it did (dead coil in the brushless DC motor drive as well as a horrid grinding noise from the rotor for months before the motor finally died).

Update: Extra, unexpected benefit -> our icemaker started working well again. It worked before, but was real slow to fill. So if your icemaker works but is slow, the fan may be the culprit there too!

I bought this fan motor for my Frigidaire Side-by-Side. The repairman was acting like a complete twerp so instead of paying him upwards of $200 for parts and labor I instead got this for $40. Opened the backplate in the freezer section, took out the old fan motor, plugged in this one (every plug is color coded) et voila!

It works, I am happy and the repairman is unhappy so I am even more happy. Plus my wife thinks I am this electronics genius. Ha!

KitchenAid Pro Line Series KFCP22EXMP 36 21.8 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator

KitchenAid Pro Line Series KFCP22EXMP 36 21.8 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door RefrigeratorYou would think if you're spending $3k on refrigerator, they might step it up in the quality department. Not so much with KitchenAid. We ended up getting the matching pro-line fridge, dishwasher, and 36" range. $10k all in. After 9 months, the compressor went out on the refrigerator. Fortunately it wasn't after 12 months, so it was covered by warranty. As if we hadn't already decided, the repair guy told us we should "definitely" get the extended warranty of 5 years (max). So, for another $300 bucks the crappy workmanship is on their dime. If we need a brand new one after that, so be it I guess c'est la vie.

Before purchasing, we were already on the fence given the reviews we read; I'm now wishing we let them sway us more. It's tough because this particular line LOOKS so nice. You're willing to pony up for a higher end kitchen, and you convince yourself that since you're paying for the high end line, you won't get screwed with a cheap crap product. Falseroni.

Typically I'm able to offer an alternative when I write a poor review, because I almost immediately rectify the bad purchase with a good one supported by positive reviews. In this case, I'm stuck with my uber expensive shiny piece of crap. The best I can do is hope none of you make the same mistake.

Note: I did not purchase from amazon; the commentary is on the appliance regardless of where you purchase it.

We purchased the full suite of Kitchenaid Pro Line appliances. The refridgerator is the best item among them, but still very cheaply made and not worth the money. One of my handles arrived with a gash in it and was replaced.

The inside drawers are made of very flimsy thin plastic and will likely not last. The roominess is pretty good and the layout is logical.

So far, it appears as though it is cooling evenly. Descent fridge but just definitely not worth the extra money Kitchenaid is charging. Also their quality control is terrible as 3 out of 4 items arrived with problems.

15" Built-In Wine Cooler

15' Built-In Wine CoolerI just received this wine cooler for a small bar I'm building for my basement. I purchased it with the matching beverage center and was very impressed initially with the build quality. It looks amazing and stores a lot of wine (33 bottles) even though it's only 15" wide. The only negative thing (why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) is that of the 7 shelves only the top one holds larger wine bottles, but it does hold 5 of them. I will update this review once I install and use it for a few months.

Samsung RF217ACPN 20 Cu. Ft. Stainless Look French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star</noscr

Samsung RF217ACPN 20 Cu. Ft. Stainless Look French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • Perfect for smaller spaces, Samsung's new 33 inch wide refrigerators are nearly 3 inches slimmer than conventional models, but still has a 20 cu. ft. capacity.
  • By being ENERGY STAR compliant you are assured that your SAMSUNG model is helping the environment by using less energy while saving you money. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy pro
  • Controlling the refrigerator is easy with the internal digital display. It shows the inside temperatures.
  • Samsung's strategically placed, highly efficient LED lighting brightens every corner so you can quickly find what you need. A cooler source of light, LED emits less heat, saves space and is much more energy efficient than traditional bulb lighting.
  • Twin Cooling System uses two evaporators to independently control the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer compartments, maintaining proper humidity levels and preventing odor transfers between compartments.

First, let me say that I'm a huge fan of most Samsung products. I have owned multiple Samsung cell phones, TVs, monitors, computers, and other products. I have heard the praises on Samsung washers and dryers. All of that led me to buy the RF217ACRS (or RF217ACPN) refrigerator. Its size was perfect for the kitchen I had and at first glance I thought it was a good appliance.

Within two weeks of having it delivered the refrigerator and freezer was intermittent. The freezer temperatures varied greatly and I ended up with a freezer of melted ice cream and thawed out products. I used manual thermometers in both the refrigerator and freezer and quickly learned that it hardly ever kept the temperatures that were displaying on its digital readings. The manual thermometers were placed at different areas and it still never matched. The freezer would be at -25 degrees one moment and +30 degrees the next, all the while the digital gauge on the unit said it was -2 or 0. Frost was constantly melting and refreezing.

Thankfully, the store agreed to pick up this unit and deliver a replacement. Thinking I got a lemon, I just got another Samsung RF217ACRS. Within another month, the replacement unit (completely new, although same model) was doing the same thing. The store agreed to replace it again and I then quickly switched brands. After ditching Samsung, I'm happy to say that I'm thrilled. I now have a refrigerator that cools and a freezer that freezes, but it is NOT a Samsung. It's amazing how happy a customer can be when an appliance does what it is supposed to.

Now, even if you decide to buy the RF217ACRS (or RF217ACPN) after reading about the problems I had, let me tell you about the features of the refrigerator. The stainless steel finish is nice and the EZ Open Freezer handle is a great touch. However, you will not get many features on the inside. While the shelving units are adjustable, they do not adjust enough. You can only adjust them a couple of inches in a few directions. Most of the door shelves turn out to be too small to even use unless you just omit one of the shelves to increase the height of the others. Other units offer shelves with much more adjustable heights to them. After you look at other brands, you will see that Samsung missed the mark on designing the interior of this unit.

You can fit a gallon of milk in the doors, but don't even try to fit a one gallon pitcher of tea or something similar on the shelves. The noise level is a bit higher than I expected. It is not quiet, but it is manageable. The lighting is too dim. I know they are using LED lights to save energy, but there needs to be more light. When opening the freezer door you often spill ice into the bottom of the freezer or worse, your kitchen floor. The ice maker comes down too far into the ice bucket causing it to knock cubes off when opening/closing the door.

At the end of the day, I was never thrilled about the abilities or features of this Samsung refrigerator. When major problems surfaced, that just put the nails in the coffin. I was completely dissatisfied with this model and Samsung's customer service (I did call them after the second malfunction). I cannot recommend this model and likely cannot recommend any Samsung refrigerator.

Buy

I needed a narrow counter-depth fridge under 3k and this was the only option. My luck it looks great and i love love love the platinum finish. I can smear my hands all over it and it doesn't show a single smudge and I think looks better than stainless steel.

The gripes.. so far are fairly minor. Of course it's a small fridge. But, they made adjustable shelves that only adjust about an inch, which is not helpful. you won't be able to stand any bottles up on the shelves without removing one, which will really dimish capacity. there are small shelves in the door but you can't keep a ton in there. I have a small Brita pitcher that I wedged into the door. if I had anything larger I'd be SOL.

The biggest complaint I have is the noises that it makes and I really want to know if it's normal or if there's something wrong with it. It works FINE. But it makes several different mechanical/electric startling noises. and I do not have the ice maker hooked up so shouldn't be that. one noise sounds a fan hitting metalit lasts for about two seconds and sounds off every few minutes. As for normal running noises, it's totally silent. It just breaks that silence every few minutes with some periodic loud noise. At first I was startled by it and after two months i'm just plain irritated. i'm also afraid it's a sign that something may be wrong.

But other than the noises.. I seriously love this thing. I lucked out big time that the only fridge that would fit was also affordable and looks great.

Great size, nice functions, lots of space inside, but after a year of having the refrigerator we noticed water is being drained into the vegetable drawers and the bottom of the fridge. Called Samsung and they said they are willing to send the parts I will have pay for labor. Not sure if that's okay customer care or not fully admitting guilt. Gave me a number of one certified technician. I asked for more numbers so I can compare and contrast, since I was responsible for labor charges, but the agent explained they will need to assign one technician at a time which was too much of a hassle for me. This issue of water seems to be well reported in online forums and (hopefully) might result in a class action suit. If you get this model, get the extended warranty as it might come in helpful.

I have owned a Samsung fridge and have had nothing but problems with it. Samsungs I have found out have notoriously had cooling problems especially with the coils freezing. Don't just take my word for it, look up class action on Samsung fridges. I tried repairing this fridge twice with appliance repair companies to no avail. Once your fridge stops properly cooling, it more than likely will cost you less to buy another brand. I hate giving this fridge a bad review as I loved the design of the fridge and Samsung brand products in general but unfortunately they havent really figured out how to make a reliable fridge. For the cost of these appliances, you should get more than a year or so of reliable use.

There are several models involved in the class action, not just my model. So you can judge for yourself on whether you want to purchase a Samsung fridge but I wanted to share my experiences with Samsung brand refrigerators and put the information out there about the known defect.

Quiet fridge, works great. Only problem was after a power cycle (it was due to electrical service in our area) the fridge starts up on some default mode displaying a partial "F". Control panel does not respond. Fridge section has no air circulation and stayed around 50 degrees. Freezer was a bit above freezing point. Contacted support couple times. They usually thinks its in DEMO mode and asked me to press the freeze + super freeze buttons. If still fails, call a technician. Well, after I search for "Samsung Fridge Error Codes", I found postings explaining what each LED segment means. Turns out all I needed to do was reconnect the ice maker. I wish they had included the diagnostic instructions in the manual, or at least tech support should talk about it. (See ) Update 6/7/2013 After fixing the "F" problem above, the fridge section froze. No air flow from the freezer means a warm fridge. Turns out many local repair folks don't handle Samsung and LG models. Finally found one guy, he replaced a sensor for $222, but it's still freezing up. Waiting for him to order more parts, heater and possibly computer board. All fridges I had before lasted over 10 years. Not this one.

  • 16-bottle wine cooler
  • State of the art thermoelectric technology
  • Glass door with soft interior lighting
  • Adjustable feet for leveling to eliminate vibrations
  • Adjustable temperature controller

So far so good after about a week. Virtually silent; easily maintains a temperature of 53 degrees (hit 47 with thermostat at coldest setting on initial turn-on).

Inconveniences: thermostat and light switch at inside rear of unit; no temperature display, you will have to use a refrigerator thermometer.

I have had this for a month or so now and it has been working well. As other reviewers have mentioned, it does not come with a thermometer and I have yet to purchase one. I purchased this model primarily for it's dimensions. We built a bench around it. I like the removeable shelves, then larger bottles will fit if needed. The light is dim, we leave it on all the time as a night light. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.

I just wanted a simple wine cooler to fit under my cabinets and this one does it job just fine.

Keeps it cool and stores 16 bottles.

The only negative is that the plastic casing, doors are very cheap looking.

If you have more money, get a stainless steel version.

This was easy to install although I had to discard the auto shut off valve. We notice the water tastes better and for some reason, our ice maker seems to be doing a better job, I have no idea why, but it is putting out more ice than it ever did. I will keep using this filter.

Samsung RF4267HARS 25.5 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • External Filtered Water And Ice Dispenser
  • Power Freeze And Power Cool Options
  • Twin Cooling Plus System
  • Dimensions (WHD): 32 13/16" X 69 3/4" X 36 1/4" In.

We had this side by side Whirpool Gold for 8 years and we mistakenly taught it to be a good purchase.

When it broke last May, we found that the parts in the compressor compartment were attached with tie-wraps and Sears service were not even able to fix it anymore (because the fridge was cheaply made but also because they are really incompetent).

So when the Sears tech mentioned that KitchenAid has better warranty and after the third unsuccessful repair we decided to replace the Whirpool crap, we went to look for a KitchenAid. But then we learned that they are all made by Whirpool: KitcheAid, Maytag, and some others too. They all look the same, they all have this stupid water dispenser that you have to keep the door open to use it and they are all the same questionable quality as our old fridge.

We finally decided for the Samsung and so far we are very happy with our decision. Even in the store it was standing away from all the others and it was making a huge impression as a product of a different clas.. We have it only for a week now, so there is no reliability proof yet, but quality wise, you can feed the difference immediatelly. Great finish, quiet, everything works pefeect, and the electronic controls are just great. Everything looks like it was well thaught and designed. Nothing was neglected. Not talking about you having 25.5 cu.ft. where all the other brands have only 22 cu.ft.

This fridge seemed ideal with all the functionality and deep space, yet compact enough for a Manhattan apartment. But it has some serious structural flaws. Between the cooling cycles it warms up so much that ice cream in freezer melts and the meat (partially) thaws. You can see frost and dew on the bottles etc in the fridge. Then ice maker starts to leak water.

Then everything recools and ice forms again in the ice maker. But because it is formed from the previously melted ice, ice makers gets jammed.

I had 3 different PC Richards technicians come and take a look and they tried everything, including changing the two computer motherboards! But nothing has fixed the problem.

Will try to return it now.

Samsung Fridges have MAJOR problems. See this site: http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/samsung/26180-samsung-water-bottom-refrigerator. . I own an RF267 Samsung fridge. I highly suggest you search online about problems with Samsung refrigerators that are only 2-3 years old. Ours is leaking water. Our in-laws are having the same problem with their Samsung refrigerator. I suggest you do some research before buying a Samsung refrigerator.

I have a small spot that isn't "full width". This is absolutely the best fridge I've found that will fit in the spot. The capacity is huge and the layout is very logical and easy to use.

GE ADAPTER Refrigerator Water Filter Adapter

GE ADAPTER Refrigerator Water Filter AdapterConsumers BEWARE! The GE Smartwater GWF filter is not a replacement for the old 'Culligan' FXRC metal filter. Despite the available adapter, the new Smartwater GWF filter was designed for a newer 'high-pressure' system installed in GE refrigerators manufactured after 2001. On the older models using normal water pressure [mine is a GE Performance Profile] these filters do not work. They will seem fine at first, only to run to a trickle in less than a month. I burned through several of these at @ $40.00 each until I discovered the problem.

With millions of wasted filters and dollars at stake, GE refuses to acknowledge the problem. I was told to find a technician at my expense. GE refused to replace the filters with a properly designed compatible model.

This adapter should not really be needed and it is difficult to install, as you can not tell when the plastic part is correctly aligned with the metal threads in the refrig. If you don't get it aligned just right, the thread bosses on this plastic adapter will be damaged and water will not flow. I found it was much easiest to pull the frosted horizontal bulb cover out, (just pull it towards you) so I could see when the the plasitc and metal threads were aligned. This made it was easy to install without damage.

Have a Kenmore (Sears) branded fridge that needed a new filter. When ordering new filters from Sears it turns out they changed to a different type of fitting on new filter, and they didn't state I needed the adapter now. Even their exploded diagrams on the parts list (even the updated online one) doesn't reflect a need for this adapter. Finally figured it out and am now able to use the right filter (older type fitting no longer manufactured).

As a side note, if you need the filters that fit this adapter, DO NOT order from Sears! Shipping is wicked expensive and local storefront does not stock them. Found them locally at Lowe's, and they are available online at Amazon as well.

Adapter is well built, durable, and works fine. Only gave 4 stars as (A) had to get the dang thing in the first place, and (B) it effectively lengthened the space needed to install the filter, so had to move shelf one slot down in the bracket holder.

The filter and adapter fit in my old GE fridge I have so I'm happy. Replaced filter FXRC. I could have bought a new FXRC or MXRC (replacement filter from GE b/c FXRC is discontinued) as some places must still have a stock of the old FXRC. The MWF (newest filter) and the adapter (needed to fit in the older GE model fridges) fits fine but the water flow rate is unbearably slow. It seemed to have made ice in short order though. I may try the MXRC the next time and see if the flow rate is any better but the MWF is a cheaper filter and I already have the adapter. We'll make that decision when this filter is done. This is a second fridge in the garage anyway and we use it mostly for storage and extra ice making capacity. The water flow rate for my purposes are minimal but it'd be nice if it worked well enough to use.
