Ice Maker Assembly for General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA WR30X10093

Ice Maker Assembly for General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA WR30X10093
  • Includes power cords

The cable adapter for older refrigerators, make this a tricky install because the cable is too long for a clean straight forward install. They should have made the ice-maker with either cable, but they must sell more of the newer type so this simple job turned into a bit of a challenge. This review is to help save others with older units as mine, some time. I ran the cable straight up between the first mounting bracket(left) and the ice-maker body. I then screwed in the screw to the first mounting bracket(left)to hold ice-maker into place. The cable comes over the top and down to the left and under the ice-maker and plugs into the power socket. The original cable came out of the socket and moved right under the ice-maker and back behind the ice maker. This can still be done, but as others have commented, the cables will be in the way of the catch basin and the ice-maker arm. By doing it my way you'll have no issues there. The only other issue is a small one. There is a plate that hides the ice-maker plug, when its plugged into the power socket. The plate can be manipulated by bending the small dog ear out a bit, to make room for the cable, which is going to the left side of ice-maker instead of to the right. I actually plugged the cable into the power socket and then clicked it to the left a couple of times to change the cable direction, so it could go left and then up and over. Then I manipulated the cover plate and screwed it in. I screwed in the last mounting bracket screw(right)to complete install. The ice-maker when done, looks good and you won't really notice the cable off to the left unless you are looking for it. The other reviewers are spot on when they say this ice-maker is less efficient, because it is. In my case, my older ice-maker made 8 cubes per batch, this one does 7 cubes per batch. All in all a good buy, if you can handle a bit of puzzle solving! Hope this helps other DIY'ers out there with the same problem.

The ice maker was a little different than the one i took out but when i hooked it up it made ice. I dont understand why the instuctions say you have to use your old stripper when it will not fit on the new unit though. the one it came with works fine.

Ice maker works fine and half the price of going through the manufacturer. If you're somebody who has never replaced their own ice maker, don't get yourself to worked up over it it's an extremely simple job that only takes a few minutes. Don't get overzealous and have someone come out and charge you a small fortune to do ten minutes of work for you.

Want Ice Maker Assembly for General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA WR30X10093 Discount?

This ice maker works better than the one that came in my GE refridgerator. My original ice maker never froze ice completely and thus we would have a big frozen lump. This one freezes completely and we always have plenty of ice.

Our ice maker made Ice only some of the time and then finally passed. I took the old unit apart and found the broken gear but given the gear was 10 dollars plus shipping and the Ice maker around $50 I went for the full replacement. Install was a little bit of a pain due to the length of the cord but other than that it was simple.

Whirlpool 2262185 Start Relay for Refrigerator

Whirlpool 2262185 Start Relay for RefrigeratorBuying this saved me from buying a new fridge. If you hear a clicking noise every few minutes it could very well be your Relay. Find the relay in the back and pull it out, if it rattles when you shake it its bad and you might as well try this out to see if it saves you too

Took me an evening to go thru the refrig... start relay. Ugh.

Easy to get to. Easy to change. Diagnosis took longer than the fix.

Been working for a few months now, no problem.

Old one was toast totally burnt inside. I guess that happens.

Vendor shipped quickly... only a few days wait to cold 'fridge again.

Fortunately, I had a back up refrig here, so things were not all that bad.....

AND... I got to clean all the dust bunnies out of the one that was broken. A good thing!~

The part is re-designed from the original... required dremeling edge of proper terminal to fit existing connectors.

Less than an hour later, freezer is ~ 28F... and compressor seems pretty happy (did not run at-all on "universal" part supplied by local parts house).

Very happy outside no instructions & does not fit in old housing. (Will need to find new housing for proper fire protection).

Whirlpool 67005560 Relay Overload for Refrigerator

Whirlpool 67005560 Relay Overload for Refrigeratorpurchased this product because my refrigerator/freezer quit cooling. One night I smelled plastic burning and traced it to the back of the refrigerator. Long behold this part had burned up. I ordered this replacement, got it within 2 days, pluged it in and within 2 hours my refrigerator/freezer were back in business. Been working for about 4 weeks now. So far so good. Also it was the least expensive I could find online. Even a local repair shop wanted $65 for this part.

This replacement part was an exact match. Currently the refrigerator has been running continuously 2 1/2 months now without incident.

Haier HVW12ABB 12-Bottle Wine Fridge, Black

Haier HVW12ABB 12-Bottle Wine Fridge, Black
  • Please see the above description.

It seems to function largely as I expected it to, except for two things:

1. I had to conduct an experiment with a thermometer to figure out whether the "Min" and "Max" on the dial meant "maximum cooling" or "maximum temperature". I think Min is the warmest, and Max is the coldest.

2. Wine bottles vary in thickness a bit. (For example, a typical Pinot Noir bottle is a little wider than a typical Cabernet Sauvignon bottle.) The spaces for wine bottles are a bit small for getting the wider ones in and out, and I probably couldn't fit a bunch of the wider ones near each other. So it can hold 12 narrow bottles fine, but not 12 wider ones.

Buy Haier HVW12ABB 12-Bottle Wine Fridge, Black Now

I have now had this product for One month. it really does the job of cooling the wines well, albiet with some faults. First, it doesnt have a real Temp gauge, and if i wasn't doing quick shopping when i first bought it i wouldn't have got it if i had known. Its kinda a guesstimate as to the temperature. 2nd. The little LED is far insufficient for internal light, needs more. That aside, quiet, good aesthetically pleasing cooler from Haier a fairly reliable company, all in all a fairly solid 3.5 4.0.. next time though im getting one with a pronounced temp gauge.

I needed somewhere to reliably store wine in my apartment... which is not a constant temperature or humidity (living near the beach it can get quite humid). This is a very simple solution. It is a small form factor and easily fits into small places in my apartment. It is quiet only a small fan in the back making noise. All in all, for the price this is a great buy.

My complaints consist of... 1) poor packaging. It was poorly packaged for shipping and arrived with a scratch on the left side and a dent in the back. Still usable, but annoying. 2) There is no real means of measuring the temperature. It is just a dial, like in your average refrigerator, that you turn one way for "cooler" and the other way for less cool. But, again, at this price, it is well worth the money. 3) The LED that lights up the bottles inside can be annoying. There doesn't appear to be a means of turning it off.

I went so far as to buy another one as a Christmas present. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to keep their wine, but doesn't want to break the bank to get it.

Want Haier HVW12ABB 12-Bottle Wine Fridge, Black Discount?

I bought 2 of these in sept 07...by Jul 08 1 stopped working, ok, no big deal sometimes that happens. Had it replaced since it was less that a year old. The second one actually lasted until May 10, when I had to buy another, it is now 8 months later and it has stopped working too. So I now have 4 of these and 3 don't work since sept 07...not a good deal!

If you're in hot weather, or on a hot day don't expect this to keep your wine at an acceptable temp. If you're lucky maybe 10 to 15 below room temp. I wouldn't buy it again.

GE WR60X10185 Refrigerator/Freezer DC Evaporator Fan Motor

GE WR60X10185 Refrigerator/Freezer DC Evaporator Fan MotorI bought this because mine was making a whining noise. After installing it, it was quieter but still at low speeds whines a little. Gave it a 3 star because it did not totally fix the issue. If you do this your self you will need a pin pusher tool to remove one of the pins from the original plug from the defrost thermister. I got in the repair not prepared and ended up having to solder wires together.

Milk spoiling? Fridge runs and runs and is cold in the back of the freezer, but no air blows when you open it up? You can fix your fridge! Rather than throw out that >$1000 fridge, buy a simple to install replacement part!

This part was an exact drop-in replacement for the old motor in my GE refrigerator (same Panasonic part number).

I did have to remove a molded on silicone rubber mounting piece on the old motor's wiring harness (this is seen in some photos of this motor out on the web) so I could mount it on the new motor. If you want to do this (optional, OCD engineer step), slice the rubber carefully lengthwise along the direction that the wiring runs so that you can free it from the over-molded part. Once you have the old wiring harness free, you can slip the rubber mount onto the new motor's wiring harness in such a way that the new wires run where the old wires were placed.

While you have the fridge opened up for service, you should go ahead a check the controller board for damage (specifically the power resistors). Check the web and youtube for how-to videos that show how to measure voltage on the control board to see if it is damaged as well (Amazon sells these boards as well). I didn't need them, but I bet there are videos that walk you through the replacement process for the motor itself.

Now my fridge works great again! Spoiled milk? A thing of the past!

I gave this motor only 4 stars because although Amazon went above and beyond getting me the new motor by Monday afternoon when ordered Saturday afternoon, the old motor should not have failed in the way that it did (dead coil in the brushless DC motor drive as well as a horrid grinding noise from the rotor for months before the motor finally died).

Update: Extra, unexpected benefit -> our icemaker started working well again. It worked before, but was real slow to fill. So if your icemaker works but is slow, the fan may be the culprit there too!

About a month after I got married last year, our hideous, harvest gold, dilapidated refrigerator graciously went off to be with the Lord. We couldn't really afford a replacement, but I was secretly doing backflips that we could get something nice, spacious and not so hideous. While saving up funds to buy a new fridge and living out of a mini dorm fridge for 3 months, we researched various models. We definitely wanted the stainless steel variety and wanted a bottom drawer freezer... and this LG did not disappoint.

The drawer slides open and closed easily with just one hand and tends to hold quite a bit of weight with the stuff we cram in there. The side door is generously spaced to accommodate 2 liter bottles, salad dressing or just about anything else. Our frozen stuff stays frozen and the cold stuff stays cold.

My criticisms are few, but I do have some:

Frost/ice accumulates on the left side of the drawer occasionally, so sometimes some drops off on the floor.

The left door swings closed on its own you can easily prop open the right door to load in something big and heavy, but the left door will not stay open for you.

The shelf adjustment is not very elegant you have to take the shelves out and stick them back in at a higher tier. Some competing models had a hand crank which was easier to use.

The top of the vegetable compartments is covered with 1 giant piece of glass. It is hard to get out and very awkward to clean in a sink if something spills. This would have made a lot more sense if it were segmented into 2 or 3 sections for easier handling.

While I know it's par for the course with stainless appliances, it's very irritating to not be able to use magnets to hold something important on the front of the fridge. It's steel, not aluminum. It makes no sense. One day, I'd like it if some manufacturer would come out w/ a stainless model that was upgraded to use magnets!

The ice-maker is a tad tiny, so it gets jammed with ice frequently, causing us to take the basket out and fiddle w/ the ice to get it to move down the chute.

The digital panel for selecting crushed or cubed ice is too complex... you have to press buttons a few times to get it to 'take' this could have been executed better.

The lighting is the best I've ever seen in a fridge no harsh bulb in your face very easily-distributed light throughout. So far, it's one of the nicest refrigerators I've ever owned.

Buy LG : LFX28977ST (LFX28978ST) 26.7 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless Steel Now

When we remodeled our kitchen in 2006 we had the following criteria for our new refrigerator: counter depth, water dispenser in the door and ice maker (not necessarily in the door)

After many hours of research, both online and at different stores we selected an LG French door model with freezer on the bottom.

After it was installed we noticed that the temperature showed over 90 degrees, whereas the room was about 72 degrees. Also the water dispenser flowed very slowly. According to the manual you were supposed to pull out the unit and vacuum the back. Since the unit had just been installed we called support and they referred us to the authorized tech who came out to check it. He then told us that the fridge is designed to be free-standing in the room, not "pushed" in the space between the cabinets. And then the temperature gauge would function correctly. Note the unit is NOT built-in. The water trickle from the dispenser was working as designed.

About one year later, yes, right as the warranty had expired in 2007, a small, thumbnail sized plastic tab broke off the bottom wide draweralmost $300.00 in parts and labor to replace.

In September 2009, the plastic frame that holds the bottom glass shelf (over the two half size drawers) broke in the front left corner and it is now held together with duct tape. Two weeks later another tiny plastic part that holds the lid to the left most drawer.

When it comes to the general construction and design of the drawers it is substandard and LG should be ashamed of themselves. The half drawers are designed for fruits and veggies, but if you put anything heavier than lettuce in them, they fall off the convoluted rails and you need an engineering degree to put them back in. In 2010, one of the veggie drawers completely broke into parts.

Support and customer service assures us that we are the only ones ever complaining about this. Replacing plastic parts is `standard maintenance'. It seems the design of metal rails and bars in combination with tiny plastic tabs and attachments is a very bad combination

If you put bottles weighing too much in the doors they do not close properly and you have to give them an extra forceful push. LG service and support has not provided any service, just excuses.

Not 5 years after purchase, we are looking for the replacement, while the 20 year old GE in the garage is still whole. On a scale of 1-10 we put LG at about a minus 5never fully functioning, insufficient materials design, and poor service satisfaction.

ps. We are a couple in our 60s, not a wild group with teenagers running around.

We've had our fridge for over two years now and still love it! Its huge. We had zero problems with ours. I dont know what the other reviewer was thinking but if you mistreat your stuff it breaks. Ive had no problems with my doors closing with large/heavy bottles in them. This is because my fridge in level like the book tells you to. Water squirts out just fine. I'd say if it alows down your filter is old and needs to be changed. I'd say the water comes out harder than most.

The only bad thing, and its not that bad, is th ice maker. It doesnt hold a ton of ice. So, If your having a party you need to go get a bag.

We bought this fridge and only a few weeks after using it, the water dispenser was all scratched up and the ink that says "water" started coming off. Not what we expected after spending good money on a fridge. LG said it was cosmetic and wouldn't cover under warranty, when clearly not excluded by written warranty. Customer service was horrible.

we could hear it in the other room. No one would be able to sleep in the same room. Based on reviews I would not buy any wine fridge made in China.

Maytag MSF25C2EXM: Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Store-N-Door ® Ice System

Maytag MSF25C2EXM: Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Store-N-Door ® Ice SystemWe bought this fridge primarily because we wanted a lot of ice and this had a good ice generation rating. BUT

The ice dispenser continuously dropped cubes on the floor and we had a number of slipping incidents. I ended up putting a small rug by the fridge to catch the ice and prevent slips to fix that. Minor problem. But ...

Within a week or two of installing the fridge, the ice dispenser jammed up. I took a look and discovered a block of ice had formed, from the dispenser chute into the removable ice bucket inside the door. I could not remove the bucket to get at the blockage because it was "glued" to the door with ice.

I ended up having to defrost the freezer to get the ice out. Within two weeks of doing this the same thing happened. For several months I developed a weekly routine of using a blow dryer to get the ice bucket out, dumping out all the ice in the bucket to melt out the block of ice at the bottom of the bucket, clearing the jam out of the chute, drying everything off and reinstalling. Takes about an hour each time.

I had assumed there was some sort of installation mistake. Turns out not. It is a known design flaw.

I finally called a Maytag repairman after a shelf broke in the refrigerator ( which appear to be cheaply made) and decided to have both taken care of while under warranty. The repairman explained this is a known design flaw and that what I had been doing weekly is considered the "routine maintenance" to take care of the problem. It's due to moisture and water building up in the chute each time you dispense ice. They recommend doing it every two weeks, although in our case we must be "heavy" ice users because we need to do it weekly. He said done properly you can do it in 20 minutes or so rather than the hour I've been taking.

However, he spend well over 20 minutes trying to remove the ice bucket and gave up. So I think his 20 minute estimate is optimistic.

He pointed out that they note this procedure in the owners manual. I pointed out you don't see this until after your purchase the fridge and I certainly wouldn't have purchased a fridge requiring this level of "routine maintenance."

Additionally, a plastic part had broken off in the dispenser apparently unrelated to this problem, according to the repairman, that requires replacement of the door. This is under warranty currently but is going to be an expensive problem if it recurs out of warranty.

I called Maytag directly and they confirmed that it is a known design flaw and the solution is the "routine maintenance" I am already doing. They said they are no fixes nor are they correcting the problem by offering a replacement ice maker.

So if you consider spending an hour a week on an ice maker "routine maintenance", Maytag is your company.

I would rate it zero stars but that is not allowed. So upset with this fridge that I had to track it down every where it's being sold and let the world now about this piece of junk. My original review of this product is on sears.ca. The icemaker is junk. It broke twice under warranty. Repaired each time. I had a choice of extended warranty and I chose not to because I thought the defective ice maker was replaced so it couldn't possibly break again. It did, right after the warranty was up. It will cost $480 to have it replaced. The storage compartment for meats/wines etc does not keep its temperature. It says it can store meats (deli meats I assume) and I set it at deli meat storage temperature only to have the meat go bad. Now, I usually only keep stuff like milk and eggs in there short term. Water dispenser dispenses warm water. It looks very pretty though, but don't let that fool you.
