SquareTrade 4-Year Appliance Protection Plan ($125-150)

SquareTrade 4-Year Appliance Protection PlanI just purchased a refurbished mini-oven on Amazon.. This warranty was linked at the bottom of the ad for the oven. I clicked on this ad and there was no mention of new or refurbished on the ad, so I bought it, received my product and went to register it by serial number and I noticed that my item was listed as "new". I called Squartrade and they told me that the Amazon warranty will not cover refurb products and were rude on the phone. So, in summary even though there was no exclusion on this ad, Squartrade will not honor this warranty. They didn't offer a decent discount on the much higher price warranty from their site. The unfriendly Squartrade rep was not a bonus.

I'm hoping Amazon will update the item description that this warranty will not cover a refurb so others don't waste their time. If I hadn't called, I wouldn't have known.

Great customer service. Fast turnaround time. I had a cuisinart coffee maker that I had a warranty on. After a year and a half the heating element went out. I contacted Square Trade they emailed me a paper to sign & within 72 hours I had the money to replace my coffee maker.

No hassles! I have many warranties through them & recommend them to everyone!

SquareTrade sent me my warranty information immediately through my e-mail, and followed up with a phone call. I ended up returning the product I bought the warranty for, and the company was great, refunding my money quickly and without hassle. I will be trying them again, since their customer service was so good.

Frigidaire 5303918214 Defrost Thermostat for Refrigerator

Frigidaire 5303918214 Defrost Thermostat for Refrigeratordid what it needed to do and much cheaper in price. I was afraid it would be lower quality because of the price but it worked great

This part was inexpensive and easy to replace. I removed the entire assembly and fixed it on my work bench.

Replaced the part in 1 hr. Appears to have been working for weeks now...

My refrigerator was getting hot. After pulling the rear panel, I discovered that the evaporator coils had turned into a solid block of ice... did not want to buy Chinese parts... didn't know until I received it, but it is working as of now.

What can I say, my old one was defective (Frost all over fins and defrost cycle not kicking in) and I installed this in about 10 min and it fixed it! My original one lasted for about 6 years and I hope this one does too.

What can be said about this? It came quickly and at a good price. It works just fine. Replaced this along with my ADC unit when the fridge was taken out by a faulty utility company transformer out front.

Genuine Viking PA020028 Offset Igniter

Genuine Viking PA020028 Offset Igniter
  • Original Viking Part
  • Not a replacement part

One burner on my 36" Viking gas range (purchased in 2003) suddenly wouldn't ignite, so rather than call for service, I decided to take it upon myself to figure out what might be wrong, and what part could do the trick. After a bit of digging around, I thought that the best thing would be to start simple, and once I found the part I needed, did a search to find it. It turns out that there are few internet vendors selling this component, and even fewer -like this one -offering fairly-priced shipping. One vendor out there had the audacity to charge just about as much for shipping as the cost of the item, which weighs an ounce or two at best. Here, though, I found a vendor that not only had the part I needed, but charged a nominal amount for shipping. That in itself would seem enough, but this is a fragile part (it is largely ceramic), and it was packed and padded in a much larger box, to insure that it arrived safe and sound. It also arrived very quickly. This is the kind of service that shouldn't go unappreciated, and based on this experience I will surely be coming back, and would recommend all Viking owners willing to DIY to purchase their needed parts from here.

Vinotemp VINO-300WC Economy Model Wine Cabinet Refrigerator, Dark

Vinotemp VINO-300WC Economy Model Wine Cabinet Refrigerator, DarkI decided to go with the Vinotemp 300 wc after lots of research. In order to make the right choice, you should be able to determine the following:

1. How many bottles are you planning to store (usually multiply what you currently have X 2 since having a wine cabinet will surely increase your wine buying habits)

2. Where will you put the cabinet? If you have a basement, that will be the ideal place, hence the unit does not need to be too flashy. You could also put it in your garage, if you have the room. Regardless, and unless you store it inside the house you must choose at least a 2,500 BTU unit... If you're thinking about having it inside the house, a 1,500 BTU should be enough (that's the standard)

3. Noise you should consider how noise is the unit, especially if you want to have it inside the house.

4. Shipping it is always really expensive. However, there are tons of promotions for free shipping

5. Door if you want it inside the house you can chose a glass door. Anywhere else, a solid door works best.

6. Temperature zones you don't really need more than 1 zone. You can usually keep the white wine on the bottom of the cabinet, where the temperature is a bit lower.

7. Shipping times Most of these cabinets will take anywhere from 3-8 weeks to be delivered after you place the order. Check to ensure the unit is in inventory and ask about shipping options/timeframes.

Now, unfortunately, I did not take into account the lack of humidity controls on the Vinotemp unit. This is an issue for me, given that humidity in the cabinet is around 54%. I had to purchase an additional humidifier (additional $ 200) and have it running inside the cabinet in order to achieve 70-80 % humidity. This is something that the Vinotemp sales rep did not care to mention when I spoke to her. She said that the unit "promoted the right conditions for wine aging" which is clearly not the case.

I purchased the unit from Sam's club. Horrible experience. I waited 8 weeks to get delivery. Sam's club still advertise the unit as being "in stock"..."Cheap Sales Tactic" IMHO. All Vinotemp units are made to order. No one keeps stock. If they tell you the unit is in stock they are probably flat out lying or do not know how Vinotemp works.

Back to the unit itself, the outside finish is "not as nice" as it seems online. Luckily for me, the unit was intended to go in the garage. The inside rack (2 bottles go in each cubby hole) is just great, just like a real cellar. The overall feeling is sturdy. That's a big plus over other great units, such as Eurocave , which have trays (not a fan of trays). However, based on my experience, it seems that the Eurocave is a very strong contender, if not better but also more expensive than Vinotemp.

About Vinotemp, the company. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. I registered my unit online as soon as I received it. They don't have any records of the registration. They still cannot find me on their support computer (after 6 calls and 1 product registration, only 2 months after my purchase), and their customer service folks will never call you back. It puzzles me how bad their support is for products that are over $2,000...One should expect much more.

I hope this review is helpful. Feel free to drop me a line at jbastante@gmail.com.
