The continuous, loud high-pitched whining which can be heard several rooms away was not part of the item description. And it barely hits the selected temperature. I tested it using two different digital thermometers. Not even close. I give it one stars since it actually does hold large bottles. If you can leave it sitting in a cool basement with lots of sound insulation, it's a good buy. Otherwise, skip it. purchased Feb 2012Read Best Reviews of Vinotemp 28TEDS 28 Bottle Wine Cooler Here
Unfortunately I have to recommend that you pass on this wine refrigerator. The size was perfect and it looks nice but the first one that I received was dead on arrival. I called Vinotemp and a replacement was arranged and received quickly. Fast forward nine months the replacement has stopped working. Like one of the other reviewers, I have a clicking sound coming from the back and a flashing red light I hope that my repair is as simple as a $2 part from Radio Shack. Vinotemp said that my control board is dead and I can buy and self install a replacement for $70 including shipping. I have a refrigerator in the garage that has been working for 40 years what do they know that Vinotemp doesn't? Everyone at Vinotemp that I have spoken to has been very nice but sadly it seems that they make a sub-par product.Want Vinotemp 28TEDS 28 Bottle Wine Cooler Discount?
My unit stopped working after a year, producing a clicking sound when plugged in. Thanks to an amazon reviewer for the VT-12TEDS, I learned that the likely trouble-maker was a burnt out capacitor on the board. By opening the back of the wine cooler, I could indeed see that there was a bad capacitor. I replaced this with a 35V 1000uF capacitor from Radio Shack ($1.99), and now the unit works well again!Very happy with my purchase. Quite and one of the only units I found that is thermoelectric and has a stainless door.Fits 28 bottles and its already all filled up, with a few extras on the counter. So far so good.

Green Filter for Whirlpool 8171414 NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, C...
- Swift Green Replacement for Whirlpool 8171414
I'm very disappointed that the water tasted exactly the same as it does coming out of our unfiltered faucet tap water. There was absolutely no noticeable reduction in the Chlorine smell or taste. I had my other family members sample the water and all of us could not tell the difference between our unfiltered tap water and water that had passed through the SGF-W41 filter.
We were really hoping that the quality of water would be at least equal to the Whirlpool/KitchenAid 8171414 which we usually use, unfortunately it is not. In fact our six month old Whirlpool/KitchenAid 8171414 filter still does a much better job at removing the chlorine odor and taste from our water than this brand new Swift SGF-W41.
I was really hoping to be able to write a positive review for this product, but as already mentioned based on our experience I can not. I guess we'll have to pay the extra $$ to purchase another Whirlpool/KitchenAid 8171414.
*** UPDATE: The seller (Global Shop Stop) referred me to the manufacturer (Swift Green Filters). I emailed the manufacturer and also spoke with one of their customer service reps. They sent me a replacement SGF-W41 since he believed that the carbon block probably cracked during shipment. I'm happy to report that the replacement filter works fine. He also informed me that some of their earlier manufactured SGF-41's had carbon blocks that didn't entirely fill the plastic housing, thus allowing the tap water to bypass the carbon block filter. I also found out that the carbon made out of carbonized cocounut shells can be more brittle than traditional carbon blocks used in the original Whirlpool/KitchenAid 8171414 filters. Since the carbon blocks made of cocunut shells are more brittle, I would strongly recommend that the seller packages them with some cushioning material in a second outer box. They shipped mine just in it's original packaging wrapped only in a USPS shipping envelope. They should double box these with padding or at a minimum use a padded mailer to help avoid cracking the carbon block during shipment. ***

We live in a area with flouride in the city water. Just wish that someone had come up with a refrigerator filter that will filter out the deadly flouride.Friday, June 20, 2014

Panasonic NN-H765BF Genius 1.6 cuft 1250-Watt Sensor Microwave with Inverter Technology, Black
I upgraded from a mid-size 650-watt oven to this full-size 1250-watt oven. I have to remind myself sometimes that everything needs less time to cook. However, there are a lot of pre-programmed features in this unit that make it easier. For example, there is a sensor cook button that selects the time and power level for different kinds of foods depending on how many times you tap the button. Types of food include baked potatoes, frozen pizza, frozen entrees, fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables and omelettes. I made a baked potato last night that was cooked perfectly. There is also a separate popcorn button (you can select from 3 different bag sizes) that also worked perfectly. A More/Less button lets you add or subtract time to the sensor and popcorn settings.
There are a number of different functions you can select or turn on and off. Some of the functions include language (English, French or Spanish), a choice of pounds or kilos, child lock, reminder beep (I turned that off because unlike my old oven which beeped every minute, this one beeps every 15 seconds which was annoying) and menu action which when turned on guides you through each step of cooking. There is also a demo mode which is meant for retail displays but you can see how everything works without actually cooking anything.
Some other useful features are delayed start where you can use the timer to set the oven to start cooking at a later time and a keep warm setting if you won't be taking your food out of the oven immediately. A Quick Min button lets you select 1-9 minutes simply by tapping the button the appropriate number of times.
If you purchase this, I would suggest going through the owner's manual a couple of times. I went through it once before I used the oven. A couple of days later I went through it again and discovered that I had overlooked some shortcuts.
The only down side for me with this oven is losing some more counter space in a small kitchen. Keep that in mind if you don't already have a full-size oven.
UPDATE: It is now 2010 and I realized I have been using this oven for 3 1/2 years and I still love it! I do a lot of actual cooking in it too, not just reheating, popcorn, etc.I've never been so happy with a microwave. It is wide enough to allow the defrosting of a long block of chicken thighs, yet short enough to fit in the limited space I have to stash it. If you yearn for modest height and generous width, this is your oven.
It's quiet. It looks GREAT. It beeps to let you know when it's time to turn something over you are defrosting, but won't shut off and wait for you to turn it. (Turning is optional.) It's clear from a bar indicator what power level you have set and is operating, which makes it easy to tell from a distance.
More on defrosting: My last micro only allowed up to 2.4 lbs in the display, so for that chicken block I was eternally re-defrosting. Not this baby. Bring on your big freezer items, as long as they aren't too tall. Up to 6 lbs can be entered in the display.
That "ENJOY YOUR MEAL" message that moves across the display when the cooking cycle ends is a nice touch.
UPDATE 8/02/2010It's still doing the job and looking great.I have always been partial to Panasonic microwaves and this is one of the best. It has had constant daily use for over two months now with an excellent performance record.
In fact, I have only used my stove and oven twice since this purchase (for a large frozen pizza). The sensors are very accurate oatmeal is perfect. With two frozen dinners, I had to add additional time, but everything else has cooked, reheated or thawed as expected.
Earlier reviews mentioned resetting the clock and a loud beep. Panasonic must have listened to their customers as neither problem appears to be present on this model.
With 1250 watts, it does reheat more quickly than older models so I would suggest reducing the time until you get used to your new microwave.
UPDATE 10/21/2008 In December it will be two years still perfect!OK, maybe not better than new, but certainly better than old. My old Panasonic microwave finally went to micro-heaven after 21 years of faithful service. That's right, 21 years! I had been so happy with it, and with Panasonic, that I decided I'd try to duplicate the purchase. This one is as close as I could come (it even has exactly the same glass turntable!), with some great new features. Some reviewers have expressed worries about durability. My guess is 21 years isn't a realistic expectation for anything these days (microwaves, TVs, cars, marriages). But if memory serves I paid around $350 for its predecessor back in the 80s, a unit that was much heavier, had fewer features, and was more difficult to program and use. Although the interior is slightly shorter, everything else on this microwave is a logical update on the old one. My only problem? After 21 years I had all the settings memorized for my favorite cooking chores. This unit is more powerful, and I'm having to experiment to find new ones. Bottom line...so far, so great! This is a basic microwave oven with some cool features and a very mediocre user interface. You can enter time and press cook and it works. It has a power button that reduces cooking power by reducing continuous cooking energy, not, as most do, by cycling on/off at full power. This is good, but the button is stupid. To set power 3, you have to push the power button 6 times. It decrements from ten, one digit per press. It also has a "quick minute" button, which is good, but it, too, still requires that you press the "start" button. Not as quick as my old uWave, which just starts when you press the quick-buttons. I also wish there was a "quick 30 sec", which I used more than anything on the old oven. There's also a "smart reheat" button that's great. It heats until it senses steam/heat given off the food. But it's also stupid, since there's no control over the power level. (Panasonic doesn't document this feature very well, really.) There's a "Smart Cook" button, that also cooks by sensing the steam/heat given off by the food. It would be way cool if you could figure out the cooking profiles, but they don't document that, either--they just say "potato" or "frozen pizza" and assume they know how to cook it. Again no power control, and no way to use it if you don't happen to be cooking potatoes or one of the other 8 food items listed. You also have to press this button between 1 and 9 times to select the food group--again a stupid button trick.
All in all, it's a fine appliance at a good price. Its biggest shortcoming is that the user interface could easily be so much better.

As others have stated, this part features a metal inner sleeve that came loose after just one use, rendering the washer once again unable to function. Save your money and time and steer clear of this part!I've had to replace the coupling twice thinking that I had something else wrong with the washer. Turns out it's just the coupling that kept failing. I'm ordering the 285753 without the A to make sure I get an OEM that doesn't use cheap plastic. Wish I would have discovered the issue was with the coupling and not my washer begore ordering it a third time with Saturday delivery. On the bright side, I've performed a full overhaul on my 15 year old washer. Hope to get another 15 out of it.

I replaced the broken coupler in my 13-year-old Kenmore washing machine with this one. Would give it 5 stars except for a couple of niggles:the new one has a metal collar while the original was just molded plastic. Not sure which one is better, but presumably the metal collar provides a tighter fit and is more resilient (Some reviewers have complained that the metal clamp breaks free of the plastic, so I may update this review at some point if that happens to me.)
the black rubber isolation coupling appears to be less sturdy than the original. It's slightly smaller in diameter than the old one I removed, so the holes where the couplers go in seem a bit flimsy at the top (close to the outer circumference). Again, not sure how much that matters.
Regardless, it does the job. For under 4 dollars + watching some DIY videos on YouTube + 2 hours of manual labor, I was able to get the old washing machine running as good as new.Actually worked for a few month, but now the white plastic part broke. It's cheap, but doesn't appear to be very reliable. Not worth the effort.

I chose four stars because the shelves and brackets on the door fall out too easily when the fridge is full. If you keep bottles on the door they will knock loose the door bracket when you open it. Otherwise, this fridge has more room than many in the same price range. I think this thing would be perfect for a dorm room, man cave, camper or cabin. The freezer is a little small, but this is only a 2.5 gallon fridge so it is not expected to have a larger freezer.Want SPT 2-1/2-Cubic Foot Compact Energy Star Refrigerator, White Discount?

Maytag MSF25C2EXM: Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Store-N-Door ® Ice System
The ice dispenser continuously dropped cubes on the floor and we had a number of slipping incidents. I ended up putting a small rug by the fridge to catch the ice and prevent slips to fix that. Minor problem. But ...
Within a week or two of installing the fridge, the ice dispenser jammed up. I took a look and discovered a block of ice had formed, from the dispenser chute into the removable ice bucket inside the door. I could not remove the bucket to get at the blockage because it was "glued" to the door with ice.
I ended up having to defrost the freezer to get the ice out. Within two weeks of doing this the same thing happened. For several months I developed a weekly routine of using a blow dryer to get the ice bucket out, dumping out all the ice in the bucket to melt out the block of ice at the bottom of the bucket, clearing the jam out of the chute, drying everything off and reinstalling. Takes about an hour each time.
I had assumed there was some sort of installation mistake. Turns out not. It is a known design flaw.
I finally called a Maytag repairman after a shelf broke in the refrigerator ( which appear to be cheaply made) and decided to have both taken care of while under warranty. The repairman explained this is a known design flaw and that what I had been doing weekly is considered the "routine maintenance" to take care of the problem. It's due to moisture and water building up in the chute each time you dispense ice. They recommend doing it every two weeks, although in our case we must be "heavy" ice users because we need to do it weekly. He said done properly you can do it in 20 minutes or so rather than the hour I've been taking.
However, he spend well over 20 minutes trying to remove the ice bucket and gave up. So I think his 20 minute estimate is optimistic.
He pointed out that they note this procedure in the owners manual. I pointed out you don't see this until after your purchase the fridge and I certainly wouldn't have purchased a fridge requiring this level of "routine maintenance."
Additionally, a plastic part had broken off in the dispenser apparently unrelated to this problem, according to the repairman, that requires replacement of the door. This is under warranty currently but is going to be an expensive problem if it recurs out of warranty.
I called Maytag directly and they confirmed that it is a known design flaw and the solution is the "routine maintenance" I am already doing. They said they are no fixes nor are they correcting the problem by offering a replacement ice maker.
So if you consider spending an hour a week on an ice maker "routine maintenance", Maytag is your company.
