My washer is 12 years old, and the original recently broke. I purchased and installed 2 of these after market couplers within 1 month. The first one broke during the first wash cycle with a very light load. The second lasted about 3 weeks, and snapped during a rinse cycle. This time, after reading the reviews here (didn't purchase the knockoffs here), I went to Sears and paid $20 for an OEM coupler. (needed it asap) Totally different plastics!! Both have the metal insert, but the EOM part is a harder plastic, and also a different color...tinged a greenish color. You can find the OEM online for cheaper than Sears, but total cost depends on shipping. Like others have said, don't waste your time and money on a $5 coupler. It's not worth the aggravation of tearing the washer apart multiple times to replace it. Spend the extra $$ and do the job once!! $20 is still a lot cheaper than what a service call costs. I watched the utube video's and did it myself, was easier than I imagined. I'm a 52 yr old female.

As others have stated, this part features a metal inner sleeve that came loose after just one use, rendering the washer once again unable to function. Save your money and time and steer clear of this part!

I've had to replace the coupling twice thinking that I had something else wrong with the washer. Turns out it's just the coupling that kept failing. I'm ordering the 285753 without the A to make sure I get an OEM that doesn't use cheap plastic. Wish I would have discovered the issue was with the coupling and not my washer begore ordering it a third time with Saturday delivery.

On the bright side, I've performed a full overhaul on my 15 year old washer. Hope to get another 15 out of it.

I replaced the broken coupler in my 13-year-old Kenmore washing machine with this one. Would give it 5 stars except for a couple of niggles:

the new one has a metal collar while the original was just molded plastic. Not sure which one is better, but presumably the metal collar provides a tighter fit and is more resilient (Some reviewers have complained that the metal clamp breaks free of the plastic, so I may update this review at some point if that happens to me.)

the black rubber isolation coupling appears to be less sturdy than the original. It's slightly smaller in diameter than the old one I removed, so the holes where the couplers go in seem a bit flimsy at the top (close to the outer circumference). Again, not sure how much that matters.

Regardless, it does the job. For under 4 dollars + watching some DIY videos on YouTube + 2 hours of manual labor, I was able to get the old washing machine running as good as new.

Actually worked for a few month, but now the white plastic part broke. It's cheap, but doesn't appear to be very reliable. Not worth the effort.
