Likewise I also waited nearly a year before buying this ice maker . I did all the troubleshooting myself to verify that this was the problem. Found other websites selling this product for nearly double and just didn't want to spend the money. When I saw it for $126 it was too good to pass up. Same manufacturer and model as the original (Samsung). Just plugged it in and a couple hours later it is making ice.

I finally caved and bought this product as a replacement for our icemaker that broke over a year ago. I was hesitant because the icemaker that came with our GE Profile refrigerator was not durable at all especially given that the fridge was only 3 yrs old when the plastic ice level indicator arm broke off and eventually the unit stopped making ice. I am pleased to say that the replacement icemaker is working great! It doesn't seem nearly as noisy as the original one and makes ice at an acceptable rate.

i bought an entire kitchen full of electrolux appliances, gas stove, microwave (icon) , side by side and dishwasher (also icon)

this may look like a high end side by side, but it really isn't. its very small and while the shelves do slide out, you really cannot fit a lot on them. Freezer is very small, shelving not well thought out, ice maker takes up a huge bulk of room. the ice dispenser literally shoots the ice out and it goes all over the place, water dispenses very slow, no catch/drip plate where the glass goes, so youre always having to wipe it down. upon installation i had to have both the door and the control panel replaced....very disappointing for a brand new appliance and considering the premium price paid.

know also that the stainless steel finish marks easily and is always in need of cleaning...

reviews are not much better for the dishwasher. so far the stove and microwave are up to expectations

I recently bought a lg washer and dryer(front loaders) and i too was having really bad water surges.. I looked it up on the web to see how to solve the problem.. found out i needed a water hammer arrestor.. went to lowes bought one for $10.00 came home and installed it,,,WORKS PERFECT,,NO MORE SURGES,, took me about 5 min to install.. great product and would highly recommend to anyone who is having this problem,, HONESTLY i did not even know this problem existed until one day i had the washer on,, pulled out my refrid, to clean behind it and saw my water line to the ice maker jumping when the washer was filling,,,not good for pipes i thought,, so i solved the problem!!!!

What more can I say? I took no more than 15 minutes for me to install this inline to my dishwasher water line.

Afterwards, no more clunking water hammer sound. I was amazed!

This version works specifically for the diameter water line it was specified for (3/8"). Inside the unit, which you cannot open up, is a pressurized disc in the long chamber. What this does is when your appliance quickly shuts off, the reverberating water pressure is sent into the arrestor. It pushes up against the disc, acting very much like a shock absorber. Because it functions this way, it prevents your water pipes from bearing the brunt of the pressure and knocking inside the walls.

By the way, having water hammer occurring is not a good thing: it will eventually loosen the pipe fittings and may cause a very expensive leak within your walls that you'll have to tear it down to get at.

I would highly recommend this product. Sioux Chief makes other size water hammer arrestors for other purposes too (like for toilets, washing machines, etc.) They make an arrestor to fit just about any water line you have.

A water hammer was built into this house by poor plumbing, and any number of plumbers sent by the builder were not able to solve the problem. They eventually reduced the water pressure to the house by putting a device inline with the house water inlet. That device eventually rusted out, and I had to remove it. I put the Mini-rester between the water outlet to the master bathroom toilet and toilet water inlet, and the problem was solved for the cold water pipes. This toilet is the farthest point away from the water heater, which is in the garage. During our master bath remodel, I'm having a mini-rester put in on the all the lines to the bathroom sinks. I'm also having the contractors put Mini-resters, with male sweat connections, to the bath and the shower pipes. It's overkill, but I don't plan to have any more water hammering in my house. I heartily recommend this product.
