Maytag MFI2569YEW
- Maytag
- Maytag MFI2569YEW 249 cu ft French Door Refrigerator with Spill Catcher Glass Shelves Quad Cool System WideNFresh Deli Drawer and External Ice Water Dispenser White
- MFI2569YEW
- Maytag - MFI2569YEW
If you are looking for an inexpensive french door fridge, this is the ticket. Although it's the cheapest among the french door units out there, this fridge does not skimp on functionalities.
PROS:
GREAT LOOKING the stainless steel version we got is beautiful. Fit and finish is nice. Better than a high end GE Profile one we had in our old house.
Spacious both top and bottom section have lots of room
The French Door provide very wide and open access to the fridge section
The Top Drawer in the Bottom Freezer has wheels/gears on it which makes it easier & smoother to roll in and out. Some older Maytag/Whirlpool/Kitchenaid models do not have this and are much harder to open/close. Those older units are simply just rails on slots. My in-laws has a higher end Kitchenaid and their top drawer in the bottom freeze are really difficult to operate.
Feature Rich: Even it is the most inexpensive french door among all brands, it does not skimp on features: water/ice dispenser, humidity control, outside temp display/control, etc.
The water filter is very high capacity (someone told me 750 gallons). The flow rate is great, much better than the older Maytag Plus that it replaced.
The water dispense looks great. The lights are LED and have a blueish tint. Looks very cool!
Tall bottles go into both left and right door shelves
CONS:
The stainless steel seems easy to dent. The delivery guys leaned the fridge on the counter just a bit, and it resulted in a small dent. However, Maytag was great and they are sending a replacement door and a service man has followed up already to arrange the installation
Be careful catching the ice. The ice cubes easily escape the cup. There is a certain technique to it but we trained ourselves quickly.
SURPRISE:
Fridge magnets still work! We thought magnets doesn't work on stainless steel but they seem to still work on this fridge's front doors. That is great! Note that the surface is still definitely stainless steel and not "stainless look" like the LG. I have no idea why the fridge magnet works. May be they just have a think shell of stainless steel over metal... But, this is a big plus for me. I was actually researching how to stick pictures and stuff on stainless fridge, and now I don't need such solution.
Reliability:
We did tons of research and found that this fridge model has a lot of great reviews on a site call viewpoints.com.
The primary alternative at this price range would be the LG and Samsung french doors. Both are around $1400-1500 and neither one includes gas dispenser. The LG reviews are horrible and it has poor reliability records. The Samsung is more expensive with no water/ice dispenser. We purchased this fridge in 2011 on a rebate special, we didn't think we could afford french doors with a bottom freezer but sure enough, it was a steal. We have had great success with it, and it works beautifully. No weird quirks, no funky refrigeration issues, it just works. The only complaint is the ice maker, it is low capacity and it doesn't refill very quickly. If this one issue could be fixed, this would be the perfect value fridge for french doors and a bottom freeze (which typically runs much higher cost wise).

Frigidaire 134101400 TERMINAL BLOCK KIT
- TERMINAL BLOCK KIT USED ON FRIGIDAIRE BRAND CLOTHES DRYERS.
- Works with the following models: Frigidaire 30-2758-00-03, Frigidaire 30-2758-00-04
- Frigidaire 30-2758-23-03, Frigidaire 30-2758-23-04, Frigidaire 30-2758-66-03
Recommend buying from somewhere where the block is pre-assembled or at least made to be EASILY assembled. This item was not an EXACT replacement for the original part, and it did not come with the special square nuts for connecting the wires. I had to modify the dryer cabinet in ordedr to use this new terminal block, and I had to find and purchase the square nuts locally. Other than the extra time necessary to complete my repair job, all went well and the dryer is working again.

Samsung RF217ACPN 20 Cu. Ft. Stainless Look French Door Refrigerator - Energy Star</noscr
- Perfect for smaller spaces, Samsung's new 33 inch wide refrigerators are nearly 3 inches slimmer than conventional models, but still has a 20 cu. ft. capacity.
- By being ENERGY STAR compliant you are assured that your SAMSUNG model is helping the environment by using less energy while saving you money. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy pro
- Controlling the refrigerator is easy with the internal digital display. It shows the inside temperatures.
- Samsung's strategically placed, highly efficient LED lighting brightens every corner so you can quickly find what you need. A cooler source of light, LED emits less heat, saves space and is much more energy efficient than traditional bulb lighting.
- Twin Cooling System uses two evaporators to independently control the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer compartments, maintaining proper humidity levels and preventing odor transfers between compartments.
Within two weeks of having it delivered the refrigerator and freezer was intermittent. The freezer temperatures varied greatly and I ended up with a freezer of melted ice cream and thawed out products. I used manual thermometers in both the refrigerator and freezer and quickly learned that it hardly ever kept the temperatures that were displaying on its digital readings. The manual thermometers were placed at different areas and it still never matched. The freezer would be at -25 degrees one moment and +30 degrees the next, all the while the digital gauge on the unit said it was -2 or 0. Frost was constantly melting and refreezing.
Thankfully, the store agreed to pick up this unit and deliver a replacement. Thinking I got a lemon, I just got another Samsung RF217ACRS. Within another month, the replacement unit (completely new, although same model) was doing the same thing. The store agreed to replace it again and I then quickly switched brands. After ditching Samsung, I'm happy to say that I'm thrilled. I now have a refrigerator that cools and a freezer that freezes, but it is NOT a Samsung. It's amazing how happy a customer can be when an appliance does what it is supposed to.
Now, even if you decide to buy the RF217ACRS (or RF217ACPN) after reading about the problems I had, let me tell you about the features of the refrigerator. The stainless steel finish is nice and the EZ Open Freezer handle is a great touch. However, you will not get many features on the inside. While the shelving units are adjustable, they do not adjust enough. You can only adjust them a couple of inches in a few directions. Most of the door shelves turn out to be too small to even use unless you just omit one of the shelves to increase the height of the others. Other units offer shelves with much more adjustable heights to them. After you look at other brands, you will see that Samsung missed the mark on designing the interior of this unit.
You can fit a gallon of milk in the doors, but don't even try to fit a one gallon pitcher of tea or something similar on the shelves. The noise level is a bit higher than I expected. It is not quiet, but it is manageable. The lighting is too dim. I know they are using LED lights to save energy, but there needs to be more light. When opening the freezer door you often spill ice into the bottom of the freezer or worse, your kitchen floor. The ice maker comes down too far into the ice bucket causing it to knock cubes off when opening/closing the door.
At the end of the day, I was never thrilled about the abilities or features of this Samsung refrigerator. When major problems surfaced, that just put the nails in the coffin. I was completely dissatisfied with this model and Samsung's customer service (I did call them after the second malfunction). I cannot recommend this model and likely cannot recommend any Samsung refrigerator.I needed a narrow counter-depth fridge under 3k and this was the only option. My luck it looks great and i love love love the platinum finish. I can smear my hands all over it and it doesn't show a single smudge and I think looks better than stainless steel.
The gripes.. so far are fairly minor. Of course it's a small fridge. But, they made adjustable shelves that only adjust about an inch, which is not helpful. you won't be able to stand any bottles up on the shelves without removing one, which will really dimish capacity. there are small shelves in the door but you can't keep a ton in there. I have a small Brita pitcher that I wedged into the door. if I had anything larger I'd be SOL.
The biggest complaint I have is the noises that it makes and I really want to know if it's normal or if there's something wrong with it. It works FINE. But it makes several different mechanical/electric startling noises. and I do not have the ice maker hooked up so shouldn't be that. one noise sounds a fan hitting metalit lasts for about two seconds and sounds off every few minutes. As for normal running noises, it's totally silent. It just breaks that silence every few minutes with some periodic loud noise. At first I was startled by it and after two months i'm just plain irritated. i'm also afraid it's a sign that something may be wrong.
But other than the noises.. I seriously love this thing. I lucked out big time that the only fridge that would fit was also affordable and looks great.Great size, nice functions, lots of space inside, but after a year of having the refrigerator we noticed water is being drained into the vegetable drawers and the bottom of the fridge. Called Samsung and they said they are willing to send the parts I will have pay for labor. Not sure if that's okay customer care or not fully admitting guilt. Gave me a number of one certified technician. I asked for more numbers so I can compare and contrast, since I was responsible for labor charges, but the agent explained they will need to assign one technician at a time which was too much of a hassle for me. This issue of water seems to be well reported in online forums and (hopefully) might result in a class action suit. If you get this model, get the extended warranty as it might come in helpful.I have owned a Samsung fridge and have had nothing but problems with it. Samsungs I have found out have notoriously had cooling problems especially with the coils freezing. Don't just take my word for it, look up class action on Samsung fridges. I tried repairing this fridge twice with appliance repair companies to no avail. Once your fridge stops properly cooling, it more than likely will cost you less to buy another brand. I hate giving this fridge a bad review as I loved the design of the fridge and Samsung brand products in general but unfortunately they havent really figured out how to make a reliable fridge. For the cost of these appliances, you should get more than a year or so of reliable use.
There are several models involved in the class action, not just my model. So you can judge for yourself on whether you want to purchase a Samsung fridge but I wanted to share my experiences with Samsung brand refrigerators and put the information out there about the known defect.Quiet fridge, works great. Only problem was after a power cycle (it was due to electrical service in our area) the fridge starts up on some default mode displaying a partial "F". Control panel does not respond. Fridge section has no air circulation and stayed around 50 degrees. Freezer was a bit above freezing point. Contacted support couple times. They usually thinks its in DEMO mode and asked me to press the freeze + super freeze buttons. If still fails, call a technician. Well, after I search for "Samsung Fridge Error Codes", I found postings explaining what each LED segment means. Turns out all I needed to do was reconnect the ice maker. I wish they had included the diagnostic instructions in the manual, or at least tech support should talk about it. (See ) Update 6/7/2013 After fixing the "F" problem above, the fridge section froze. No air flow from the freezer means a warm fridge. Turns out many local repair folks don't handle Samsung and LG models. Finally found one guy, he replaced a sensor for $222, but it's still freezing up. Waiting for him to order more parts, heater and possibly computer board. All fridges I had before lasted over 10 years. Not this one.

Koolatron KWC-25 Coca-Cola 28-Can-Capacity Portable Fridge with LED Display
- Countertop refrigerator chills up to 28 12-ounce cans of soda
- Simple, front-access, push-button controls with LED read-out
- Thermoelectric cooling system; adjustable temperature settings
- Self-locking recessed door handle; front viewing window
- Measures 14-3/5 by 14-1/5 by 19-4/5 inches
packaging: light weight box, shipping foam on top and bottom, in plastic
whats in the box: the koolatron, 1 car adapter, 1 ac to dc power brick, instructions for use
first thoughts: the fridge is as awesome as pictured, full coke logos on the sides, COKE printed on the glass door, brilliant red plastic casing, awesome front door screen printing,
Instruction Oddities: the koolatron has two operating modes Normal and Mute witch require manual switching, per the directions you must clean the back fan ducts once a month to prevent burnout as there is a large air intake in the back. the internal circulation vents cannot be blocked, therefore its not possible to cool unit with as many cans as pictured. light up buttons as mentioned fail to mention that whats used for the lighting are actually insanely bright blue led's. 6 inch 180 rear clearance required for air circ AND the dc power brick must be ventilated. max cooling potential is listed as 8C but room temperature is a factor.
USE:
plug in the machine and the fans kick on with a nice little roar. In normal operation mode the unit is loud. will take 8 hours to cool to nominal temp in normal mode operation. for my unit this is 11C to 13C as my room can be high in humidity and around 70 to 75. once the unit gets to the designated tempflip the switch in the back to "mute mode" mute mode will hold the temp of the unit as best as possibleoperation in this mode is "whisper quiet". so far for cooling the unit keeps my sodas and beer chilled but not exactly "frosty"
USE ODDITIES:
1, the ac to dc power adapter is about the size of a brick and it gets extremely hot in "normal operation" mode, no really it get hot enough where you cant hold on to it for long so the adapter must be kept off the ground and away from anything that could catch fire, my koolatron lives on a craftsman rolling tool cart, so the adapter basically gets to sit on a steel plate with tons of airspace around it. In Mute mode, the power brick cools down considerably but is very warm to the touch
2, In both mute mode and Normal mode the unit constantly cycles in order to keep the temp down.
3. cant stand up a long neck beer with the shelf installed, so either you have to not use the shelf, or use cans only,or lay the beer on its side.
DO I LIKE:
i think the unit is ok, its got amazing looks but they need to improve the cooling spec as the repetitive cycling is excessive and the ac adapter needs a rework.
also the blue LEDS in the front are annoying at night as they light up the entire room if not coverd

This is the sweetest lil' fridge ever!!!! i love it! it keeps drink nice and cold (somewhere around 38-42 degrees i would say). the only bad thing about it, and its not really that bad, but, every 3 weeks or so, you have to drain the condensation collecting shelf on the bottom. if you dont.....it fills up and spills! not a big deal though, especially if you drink the cokes you put in there. just wait until you refill it with cokes every couple weeks and then dump it. its a small fridge, so it doesnt come with all the perks of a full size fridge. never-the-less, its a great little addition to a bonus room, game room or even a bedroom.First off, I know this is not a true "refrigerator" but a thermo-electric cooler. If all you are using this for is to have ice cold drinks in a near room temperature room, this is perfectly fine.I bought this fridge specifically to keep drinks cold in my media room. The room temperature is around 74-78 Fahrenheit throughout the day, and this fridge has no problem keeping 28 cans at 37-41 degrees F. It is even able to do this in its whisper quiet mode(low fan speed). The initial cool-down of the 28 cans took a good 8 hours, but afterward it didn't budge from ~40f even after adding a few warm cans, which is great. The walls also do a good job insulating the fridge to my surprise.
The build quality of the frame is pretty decent. The red plastic actually looks pretty nice and not cheap like I thought. It looks much classier and is a more attractive addition than just your standard mini-fridge (thus the price premium). The radiator and fan in the back are enclosed by a another thinner piece of plastic but it seems fine. The four buttons on the front glow a fairly bright blue color as does the LCD...this may be annoying to some people as the only way to shut off the lights is to shut off the entire unit (cooling and all), but this doesn't bother me too much. The first button is the master power on and off. The middle two buttons adjust the set temperature from 2-60 Celsius (about 35-140 Fahrenheit). The last button on the right turns on a small light inside that casts a nice looking glow across the cans...it illuminates the window nicely. The LCD screen reports the temperature inside the fridge at all times unless you adjust the temperature, at which point it shows you what the target temp is.
For the first few days I really loved the fridge, but I woke up one day and the LCD was reporting 54 degrees Celsius (129 Fahrenheit) for the cooler temperature. I opened the fridge and found everything still very cold like normal. It turns out the LCD screen just went crazy. It just kept reporting random temperatures from 30 65 Celsius. I'm guessing it was just a bad temperature sensor as the unit was still cooling fine. I notified Amazon and they immediately shipped me a replacement and scheduled a UPS pickup of my old one at no charge. I couldn't ask for better service than that. Overall, I love the fridge...just a little disappointed that I need to exchange it. Overall, I think it's a great product and makes a great addition to my theater room.
*******************UPDATE 11/23/2012***************
Well about 3 months ago (or about 2 years after purchase) the unit died and no longer turns on. Thankfully I bought a square-trade warranty for it and they refunded me the full purchase price! All of these little refrigerators die at some point it seems, so if you do decide to get it, get the twenty dollar warranty so you are prepared when it does finally break...

I, just like many people who have reviewed this ahead of me, had the same issue with it malfunctioning/dying after about 10 months. It suddenly in the middle of the night started to blink on and off and the fan was no longer functioning.
As a previous reviewer mentioned, this item only has a 90 day warranty. So it is not returnable.
Also, while it worked, it was pretty nice, but you had to empty out a lot of water build up at the bottom at least once a week.
Now that it does not work anymore, I guess the only function it will now serve me is as a medicine cabinet I guess...
It is too bad.
I warn those of you who are considering to purchase this, know IT WILL DIE on you in less than a year.
Since it was a newer item 10 months ago, no one had known that it was going to be faulty like this...seems all of us who purchased this item 9 or 10 months ago are having this Fridge death issue.
So those of you who have not purchased this, consider yourself lucky! This is a strange-looking fridge. Honestly one that I was not that proud to have in my office. But I overlooked that and embraced its kitsch, and used it as a daily-use fridge (24x7). That was 4 months ago.
About 1 month ago, it started to randomly shut off. We all know what happens when should-be-refrigerated things are not refrigerated. It became more and more frequent and now stays on for about 2 minutes at a time.
Look elsewhere for your daily use fridge.
