I purchased this unit mainly because the housing is made by 3M. But since installing it, I am even more impressed at the quality of water that comes out of the faucet. To make it a plus, the filters are reasonably priced and last over 6 months. The water pressure that comes out of this unit is great.

I am a very picky person and looked for months for a filter I was not sure at first due to low reviews but looked at the company online liked it usa made and .5 Micron filter is very good. This is a very easy intalation shark bite fittings and a adaptor to fit on your flex line under sink no tools needed I would also like to note the sink fauset threds is metal! Not plastic like most are that snap off when tightened this is a good qwality filter and it filters well and replacements filter are well priced

I am basing my rating on the fact I have had experience with the filters with this unit. They are some of the best. Also,the unit itself is very well constructed. I have not yet installed it as it came with no parts sheet, no instructions, and I'm not a plumber so I have had to contact the seller direct. While cordial and responding usually about 24 hours later (send a question during the day and sometime the next day get an answer), I still am not a plumber and some of their responses and hand written out diagram won't really help me. I currently have a different unit that is an RO unit and I'm replacing it with this water filter (not an RO). The fittings I have under my sink now will have to be removed (one plugged and I hope I have the drain cap plug for it) and then replaced with new parts sent in with the unit. This weekend I will bite the bullet and remove the old and install the new. I hope I won't end up with either a leak from the removal and re-install of the new unit. I'm sure this would be a 45 minute or less job for a plumber, but for a novice I suspect it will take a few hours.

I purchased this model because my kitchen designer limited my options for a built-in by assuming I was going with a high-end Viking or Sub-Zero. Not wanted to spend $10K or more, I opted for this GE Profile, which got better reviews that the GE Monogram. I have been very displeased with this purchase. The doors are VERY difficult to open on both the refrigerator and the freezer. GE told me that once the doors had food in them, they would be fine....? They're not fine. Then, after six months of use, both the refrigerator and freezer just stopped working. Finally, for a 42", it's got a very small interior. I understand that counter depth refrigerators have less room, but this is small. I suggest that anyone considering this refrigerator really consider the cost, reliability and size before purchasing this model. It's just not worth the money.

Do yourself a great favor and read the innumerable complaints in the internet about GE refrigerators and other GE appliances before considering buying anything made by GE. I wish I had done it before buying an expensive GE refrigerator.

You will be horrified by the massive number of complaints about malfunctioning GE refrigerators and other GE appliances reported and stunned at the lack of responsibility, concern and contempt displayed by GE.

Two weeks ago the expensive GE refrigerator we purchased a few years ago quit cooling. So far we have had three GE technicians come for service and every time we call GE service, we have to wait another week for a technician to come. The first two technicians stated that there was nothing wrong with the compressor and replaced the same 'problem' board. Additionally, both technicians claimed that the refrigerator was fixed at the end of their service visit. The refrigerator is still not cooling.

Today a third GE technician came (it is always a different person) and this time the compressor was blamed for the problem. Obviously there is a lot of guess work going on here.

This last technician credited the $340 we paid originally, but now the bill has increased to $518 to replace the compressor. Supposedly they have to order the parts and we will be without a refrigerator for another 2 weeks.

Judging by the terrible reports from the countless dissatisfied and frustrated GE consumers, I am bracing myself for a long struggle with this abusive giant.

Ironically, my inexpensive 25 year old Kenmore refrigerator in the garage has never been serviced and is still working like a charm. If getting what you pay for is important to you, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING MADE BY GE!!!

We purchased a Monogram 42 inch side by side stainless steel and I love it. I haven't had a problem with it at all. It was custom ordered and we paid big bucks for it. 27 x 42 x 84 inches. With 7 kids always opening and closing it all the time, it always stays cold and still has all I need and then some. I have had other GE fridges, stoves, ovens and Microwaves and haven't had one bit of problems with any of them. We are for sure a GE family and we love them. Sorry you had trouble with yours but don't sour yourself on them all. They make good products.

I second these reviews. The storage on the refrigerator side is very, very small. Also the shelves are hardly adjustable. The milk bin has to be placed in the middle limiting the options of moving the other bins around or buying extra ones. The same goes for the shelves inside the refrigerator. Since milk bin is sort of fixed, the shelves are not really adjustable by much.

Also, the freezes makes weird noises one the door closes.

On a positive, it looks beautiful.

The shelves are strong if two are side-by-side on the same level (if they are NOT on the same level, they are a little shaky) and they can slide out a few inches to leave room for a tall bottle of wine on the shelf below. The motor is so silent I thought it wasnt working! The door bins are clear plastic, so you can see what's in them. I did not install the ice maker, so cant review that. I really like the product. It was everything that I expected from the pictures and information provided. And I was glad to finally get it because when I first ordered it and it was shipped out it got "lost" at one of the shipping stops so I had to contact Fed Ex and they put a trace on it but never located it so I then had to contact Amazon and they ended up having to reorder it but they were out of stock so I did not receive it when I initially wanted it but they did eventually get another in stock and shipped it out and it was sent with no problems because they did a two day ship. The only other issue I have is that the frige is covered with stickers for the Redskins logos and when I took it out of the packaging down the back left side of the frige the sticker was pulled away and caught on the plastic. I tried to stick it back and it worked somewhat but there was a few little tear spots in the sticker so I was very dissapointed in that. :-( But I finally have it and can finally give it as the gift I intended all along.

I have a Kenmore refrigerator that came with the house when we bought it back in 2006. It was brand new so I never bothered checking anything until last year when my drip pan kept overflowing. Turns out my refrigerator had a water filter and it needed to be replaced. Who knew? I never used the water dispenser but I did occasionally use the ice maker. Moral of the story is to change your water filter every six months to one year. I got almost 6 years out of my original filter before it started dumping water into my drip pan. I bought a similar filter last year and was still going strong a few weeks ago but I changed it anyway. The only thing I don't much care for about this filter is the "Made in China" label. When it's time to change again I will attempt to find a "Made in USA" filter.

I bought this from another retailer almost 9 years ago! Since then I've broken the freezer door off, but that's the only thing that has gone wrong. Every year or two you'll need to defrost the freezer, which is a pain. But that's not too bad considering the life of the product. The built-in can dispenser in the door is great and partially why I picked this model.

I bought this at Sears when I was in college. I was in college for six years, and I still have this baby in my room! It is an incredible value and it will last you forever! It holds LOTS of stuff and is as high as my bed! I recommend this for ALL dorm rooms and for anyone else in need of a personal fridge. It makes barely a peep and is reliable the entire way!

I bought this recently for 150 at the dept store with the 'bullseye' logo. I have the grey and black version. So far i'm happy with it as it does get cold enough to make ice in its mini-freezer compartment, and that was when i turned the temp control to the 2/3 setting(not even the max setting!). So make no mistake, it does get cold enough to make ice. If you're looking for a mini-fridge, temporary fridge, second fridge, single-person fridge, then this seems like a great value. I've only had it for a few weeks now, so i'll update my review if anything 'majorly bad' happens in the future(trust me, i'll be upset enough to come back and write a poor follow up if this fridge starts to breakdown in any way).

Finally, the energy guide. The energy guide included with the fridge says it uses 343 of 345kwh, and that its yearly operating costs is $28. That 343/345 is very high, but it says it is measured against other comparable fridges up to 4.4 cubic feet. This is a 4.3 cubic ft mini-fridge, so obviously it would be near the max. Other 4.3/4.4 mini-fridges use about the same amount of energy. And the Danby actually used about the same amount as a 3.3 cubic ft Avanti mini-fridge i was looking at. I don't have a bias towards one brand or the other(this ain't Ford vs Chevy, PS3 vs XBOX 360), simply just letting you know what the energy guide stats are. So compare and shop around before making a decision if this one is right for you. I have it, and think it's a good purchase(one of the biggest mini-fridges with a mini-freezer compartment!) and a good value(one of the cheapest prices for a mini-fridge).

(edit: almost 2 yrs later, still works fine. although i have to defrost a little more than i'd like to. also, you can't fit a large pizza box in this thing. just saying)

I bought this refrigerator for my office 5 years ago. We have a tiny kitchen area and this fits easily under the counter. The freezer holds a couple of mini frozen dinners and is cold enough to make ice. We didn't notice any significant difference in our electric bills, but I didn't actually do the math, for those of you who are sticklers for that sort of thing.

The push-button defrost is nice, however I wouldn't put this refrigerator in a room that young children have access to. That red defrost button is a big temptation. When our office moved, someone's little one pushed that red button. By the time we noticed, the refrigerator was standing in a puddle of water.

Overall, this refrigerator is reliable, easy to clean and I would buy it again.

I bought this attractive little appliance for use in an airplane hangar where the occasional consumption of perishable food and cold drink storage is desirable. This quiet running compact fit the bill perfectly. Some designs in this class of refrigerator are barely capable of holding 2 six-packs of canned beverage. Why bother? This fridge with 4.3 cubic feet of internal space is generous enough to store a reasonable amount of perishable food stuffs. Just don't expect too much utility of the freezer though, as its capacity is quite small. The internal layout of the Danby is well thought out and the vertical beverage stack on the door is a welcomed plus. The upper portion of the door also includes a special clear plastic insert to accomodate up to 9 eggs, but is an easily removed option. You can even change the direction of the door swing by swapping out the reversible hinges. Sized at a reasonable 20" across, the top of my Danby refrigerator perfectly accomodates a small microwave oven and the combination of the two is hard to beat when eating a casual meal miles away from the full sized comforts of the home kitchen!

Whirlpool 61006199 Defrost Heater for Refrigerator

When my 14-year-old Maytag refrigerator appeared to stop cooling, I knew by experience to look to see if the coils in the freezer compartment were iced. In this instance, they were so caked with ice such that no air could circulate through the system. Without air circulating through these coils, the refrigerator will to fail to cool. Typically you will notice a change in the cooling quality over a period of a few days, as this doesn't happen overnight. Using a hair dryer I was able to thaw this ice and get the system running again temporarily.

I know from experience that frozen coils like this usually mean that the defrost unit has failed, and it's been my experience that these defrost heaters are typically the point of failure. I immediately looked up the part number online, then searched for the part on several sites, including Amazon. I was able to get this replacement part for far less from Amazon than any other retailer, and as a Prime member, to get it overnight for $4. The part arrived overnight, as promised, and it took me 15 minutes to install the part. Installation involved removing the back panel in the freezer (4 screws,) disconnecting one power plug, unclipping the thermostat from the refrigerant line, and removing the failed heater unit. Replacement involves performing the process in reverse with the replacement part. For about $40 I was able to perform a repair that had cost me over $200 on a similar refrigerator 13 years ago when I called for a repair. The refrigerator is working great. I saved a lot of money, performed the repair myself the next day and without a lot of effort. Thank you Amazon for making items like this available to us "handy folks" who want to resolve their own problems when possible!

Avanti WCR683DZD-2 149 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler

I bought this model (WCR683DZD) about 5 years ago. It worked great for the first three or four years. Then, I left the door just slightly cracked two times in the last year. Both times, I found a puddle of water outside the chiller the next morning. Then, about three months after the second time the door was left cracked open, it just stopped working and displayed an E4 error code. I've spent hours searching for any documentation on the cost of fixing this item or steps for repairing the item. I found only two different answers, but neither offers much detail. I called for service and waited, and waited, and waited on hold with no response. Finally, I gave up. Currently, I am considering writing this unit off as trash and buying a competing unit from a reputable company that stands behind its products.

DuPont WFIR100X High Capacity Refrigerator Filter

I purchased this to replace an in line filter for my icemaker. All connection hardware is included for a 1/4 inch line but no bracket to hang the filter. I purchased two steel 2 1/2 inch conduit hangers from an electrical supply store for $1.63 plus tax. The conduit two hangers are perfect to hang the filter in the basement. This was a quick easy install and the filter seems to work as it should. I purchased more of these filters just to have ready to use. The cost of the filters seem to be very low compared to other filters and the 4,000 gallon rated life is nice.

JustSomeGuy's experience matches mine with these filters.

They're perfectly fine filters as far as I can tell except that they incorporate a little black rubber-like gasket thing that is supposed to be a flow restrictor.

It makes sense to restrict the flow rate through an activated carbon filter to guarantee good "contact time" between the water and the activated carbon so it can do its job properly. If the water blasts through the filter too fast, the activated carbon won't have time to absorb and adsorb the nasties out of the water.

But either the design of the flow restrictors these filters use is flawed, or there's a QC problem at the factory because in my experience, the flow is restricted to (and I'm not exaggerating) a rate where it takes five to ten minutes to fill a standard coffee cup. Probably eight fluid ounces.

At that flow rate, I have no doubt that the removal rate for chlorine, lead, taste-and-odor, etc., is probably quite excellent because the CT is extremely long. But I'm sure this isn't what the manufacturer intended.

If you take the fitting back out of the bottom (inlet) end of the filter, you'll see the little black rubber-like flow restrictor. If you pull that out and then put the connector back in place, the filters will flow like a fire hose. But that's obviously what the restrictor is supposed to prevent. What we want is a nice, gentle flow such that the contact time is long enough for the filter to do its job, but not so slow that it renders the unit useless.

I'm not sure how the design of the restrictor is supposed to work. I think it's meant to be more than just an orifice that creates resistance to the flow. Instead, I think they're trying to be clever and create a system where the harder the water pressure pushes on the restrictor, the more it pushes the restrictor into a conical seating area, so the orifice closes down more at high pressure than it does at low pressure, thus achieving some level of actual "flow regulation".

But it's not a sophisticated enough design to actually accomplish that, and some of them push completely closed, or very nearly so. Or maybe they've had a run of bad restrictors that are softer than they're supposed to be.

Or perhaps they only work properly when installed one direction, and all of mine were in backwards. When I get a chance, I may try reversing the orientation of a flow restrictor to see if that allows it to work correctly.

Whatever the reason, it appears that some of us are getting filters with flow restrictors that render the filters virtually useless. Taking the flow restrictor out increases the flow rate, but defeats the whole idea of getting proper contact time.

I may install an extra valve ahead of the filter, and abandon the flow restrictor so I can adjust the flow rate manually. But that'll cost about as much as the whole filter cost. :)

Du Pont needs to be spot checking some of these as they leave the factory so they can see what's going out.

I've tried three of the five I bought, and all three fail to flow at a reasonable rate, But then again, they're probably all out of the same production run.

Frigidaire FFPH25M4LB 2.5 Cu. Ft. Compact Refrigerator - Black

This is an awesome fridge! I got it when I had trouble with people stealing things from the communal kitchen where I live. It's compact, super quiet, keeps your food really cold (I have it set at 4/6 for it's level of cold), and it looks pretty cool. It sits at the end of my bed, and I never even notice it when I'm going to bed. I have trouble going to bed unless things are really quiet, so I was pleasantly surprised by it's low noise output. This fridge is a great buy, and so far it's been really reliable.

When my home burned, I had to move back in with mom for awhile. My sister and her kids live there also, so after the 3rd time I tried fixing breakfast and discovered someone had drank all my milk and juice, I decided to get a compact fridge to keep in my room. Did a lot of research and found the Frigidaire 2.5 cubic foot compact refrigerator at Lowes for $129. It is super quiet I never hear it. Keeps food cold and has a tiny freezer for ice cubes and a couple lean cuisines. It LOCKS so nobody has been able to "borrow" my food when I'm not at home. Glass shelves are easy to clean. It's dependable and has a small footprint. It sits next to my bed and I use it as a nightstand/mini table. For the price (do your research to find the best price) and brand dependability, this is a great fridge.
