Haier HVCE15BBH Built-In or Freestanding 26-Bottle Wine Cellar

Haier HVCE15BBH Built-In or Freestanding 26-Bottle Wine Cellar
  • Built-in or freestanding 26-bottle wine cellar with compressor cooling system
  • Electronic temperature control; LED display; for both red and white wines
  • 5 chrome glide-out storage racks with wood trim; chrome bottom rack
  • Flat full-view glass door; interior light; lock and key; automatic door stop
  • Measures 23-1/8 by 14-7/8 by 34-1/4 inches; 1-year warranty

The Haier seems to do a good job keeping wine cool; however, it is VERY LOUD. There is a knocking every time the thing turns on to cool. We've contacted Haier but no resolution thus far... it is so loud that it can't be operating normally...

I purchased mine through Sams club but it is the same model. The only con I have is that they skimped a little on the plugs for the holes for the reversible door handle. Stainless steel door with white plastic hole plugs. Ugly. My unit is exceptionally quiet. I can't hear it run at all unless I stoop down and put my ear close to the door. According to the testing I have yearly at work I have excellent hearing. Love my Chilean wine. Love this cooler. 4 out of 5 for stopping short with the hole plugs.

I've had this unit for 2 months now and it's very quiet. The racks slide very smoothly and the fridge fits in handsomly with the other stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. I haven't tested it for temperature consistency but I haven't noticed any issues at all in that department. It seems solid and well-built. As with most wine fridges, the capacity is a "best case" -it realistically fits about 22 bottles.

The only issue I had was removing the door lock (attached by the manufacturer so the door doesn't swing open during shipping). The screws were stripped so I had to leave the lock device on but bend it down so that the door would open. You can't really notice it but it was pretty frustrating.

The unit arrived in original factory packaging (well packed and easy to remove). The quality is excellent and it fit the 15" under-counter space like a glove. The unit is quieter than expected and much quieter than a normal refrigerator unit it is replacing. The internal racks slide in and out for easy access to the bottles. The unit maintains a constant temperature (within a degree or two). By far the best deal for a quality wine cooler of this size (under $400 compared to $1000+ for some similar units.)

KitchenAid Classic Series KUDC10FXBL Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Black

KitchenAid Classic Series KUDC10FXBL Fully Integrated Dishwasher - BlackPurchased this dishwasher 2 months ago. I am now on the 4th service call and it has not been repaired. KitchenAid just says they are sorry and their local service company will be there to fix. The local service company (A&E Factory Service) has been to fix it 4 times now. Each time, they try to fix and have to order a different part. Then it will be ANOTHER 7 DAYS before they can come back due to scheduling. Very frustrated. DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!

Dishes get clean but top rack does not roll in and out well. It feels like its going to break every time I push the rack in or out.

For a Kitchenaid, I expected a higher level of quality in this regard.

On the upside, it gets the dishes clean and it's quite.

Whirlpool WTW4800XQ Top-Loader Washer

I spent some time reviewing both Consumers Reports and customer reviews from Amazon and the like before purchasing a washer.

I noted a number of complaints about the new, "efficient" washers in general (not specifically Whirlpool):

1. They don't wash as clean

2. They don't rinse properly, leaving detergent residue on clothes

3. They wrinkle clothing during the new (much faster) spin cycle

4. They are noisy and take more time to do a load.

The main problem is that they all use less water than the old "Inefficient" washers, and the water they do use is cooler. Also, they often only "spin rinse" where they spin out the washing water and then spray in some fresh water while still spinning. (This is in place of a proper, old-fashioned rinse, where the clothes are agitated in a tub of fresh water.) All these changes (I won't call them improvements) are in order to save water and, more specifically, to save the energy used to heat the water. In addition, they spin much faster to get out more water so that you subsequently use less energy in the dryer.

Nice in theory, but the washing results often aren't as good.

My solution to this was to look for a washer with the most manual adjustments on it; and I chose to purchase the Whirlpool WTW4800XQ, having first READ THE MANUAL online. I discovered that, for lightly soiled clothes, I can (and do) use the "Casual Regular" cycle, which has a proper rinse instead of the spin rinse. This option also spins at a lower speed, causing less wrinkling. I can also choose my own water level. Thus, I'm basically back to how our old washer worked, with good results.

If I have to use the "Normal Regular" cycle for more-soiled clothes, it will only do a spin-rinse, but I have the option with this washer of adding a second rinse to the cycle in case one won't do.

The Whirlpool won't solve complaint #4, although I don't find it terribly noisy, just different. A "Normal Regular" wash, large load, with additional spin-rinse, took 75 minutes; a "Casual Regular" wash, medium load, took 55 minutes.

All in all, a good, basic washer that I have good control over, and at a very reasonable price: If you don't do dozens of washes a month, you don't need a high-efficiency washer that will cost you many hundreds of dollars more.

WHIRLPOOL WTW4800XQ

Here is the breakdown.

THE' PROS:

Large capacity

Gets Clothes clean

THE' CONS:

*The overly sensitive computer

*The lid lock failure

*Tendency to go out of balance easily

*Holes in clothes

*Hot water valve may melt in time

*Chewed up several items in just a week.

*No hot water. (The machine will automatically add cold water to hot so you get cold or tepid water, not even warm). My hot water in July was 100 degrees. This is barely warm.My water temp is 148 degrees but machine will not allow you to use hot water or even warm water.

*No soak feature

*Not very quiet, makes strong computer noises. Some reviewers say it is like a hack saw. I don't think it is that bad but it is not quiet in a condo environment.

*USLESS 'Technical Dept. (Whirlpool tech dept seems to have no training. You might as well pull a girl off the register at your local market for help.)

I had read there were a few people who had trouble with the lid lock not working correctly. I thought it was just an oddball. I had to return the unit because the lid lock would not allow water into the machine as it kept locking and unlocking. (yes! the water was on!). The first load was fine. The second wash load the lid lock would not stop locking and unlocking after one hour. I'made sure the clothes were evenly balanced in the machine. So'I unplugged the machine and let it rest for 15 minutes. The same process happened again--I let the machine lock and unlock for an hour. I'unplugged it again and let it rest. Tried this several times over 24 hours to no avail. The store I bought the machine from sent a repairman. He did not fix it--the machine just happened to work. When the repairman left I did a load ('this was my third load of wash since I bought the machine) and the same thing happened. It was quite arduous to get my money back.

What is supposed to happen?--The lid lock will lock and unlock until it feels the load is balanced. This is normal. But it is not normal if the machine locks and unlocks for hours. This is what happened to me.

Also when I went to go purchase another washer from another store, the manager said they had a lot of problems with the WTW4800XQ because in time the hot water valve would melt. Yes, according to this manager of the store just 120 degree water out of the tap was enough to deform the hot water valve. He thinks Whirlpool has been trying to remedy this problem. But he could not say for sure if they fixed this error. Whew! I feel I dodged a bullet with this machine

PAY ATTENTION to those people who say that they have a lid lock failure and the machine goes out of balance easily. These are real problems and I encountered them both plus holes in my clothes.

This WTW4800XQ got the clothes clean but it did not work consistently and it went out of balance frequently and easily. My new SpeedQueen 432 is a dream of a washer. Read my other review on SpeedQueen 432 to see how amazing this machine is and what you need to be aware of with the new government regulations.

After my WhirlPool WTW4800XQ washer was installed, I did a few

loads and there was a spot about the size of a quarter under the

machine. The next day after using the machine most of the day,

there was a small puddle of brownish oil/water with surrounding

brownish spray under the machine. It appears the washer leaked

water and also a significant amount of oil.

I detected the leak by sliding a white plastic tray top from a

storage container under the machine, but I expect that newspaper

slid under the machine would also work. If I had not done this,

then I probably wouldn't have been aware of this leak, since I

normally don't do a lot of laundry.

Another reviewer described the sound this washer makes as

"eeee eeee eeee eeee" which is pretty accurate. I am not certain

but given other internet reviews, I assume this sound is normal

for this machine. I think the loudness went down as I did more

loads and with higher water levels. After a while I didn't

notice the sound.

I had no problems with the lid lock feature, at least during Fill

and early in the Wash cycle. The lid unlocked quickly every time

I tested it.

I liked the fact that I could just press Start if I used the same

settings as before. There was no need to rotate a dial back to the

same position as the last load.

I would have kept this machine if it didn't leak. All I need is a

basic washing machine but the leak seemed to imply poor

reliability/longevity and this factor is very important to me.

Want Washer Discount?

I don't understand the bad ratings on this product.

It is a cheapie washer. I paid $359 at Lowes.

Yes it is different from the old washer. It clunks and makes noises when you first start the cycle. This is the self balancing feature. Washes fine and no problems so far.

Yes, there is a little hacksaw noise, but not any noisier than any other washer I have had?

Yes, the lid does lock. But you can hit the stop/start button and it opens right up if you forgot to add anything.

So far, so good! I would have given it a 5, but that will only come after 5 years.

My new washer doesn't even fill enough to cover the clothes... so how can they call this thing a "washing machine?" It's truly an expensive laundry basket. Not only do the clothes NOT get washed and rinsed properly, but the agitator beats the Hell out of the clothes. I called Whirlpool's customer service and found the representative belligerent. The machine is going back immediately, and I've lost all faith in the Whirlpool company. If they can engineer and dump a unit such as this on their customers, and then treat them like dirt, there's no end to how they are willing to scam us. NO WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS... EVER!

LG 30" Induction Cooktop

LG 30' Induction Cooktop
  • 4 Cooking Elements
  • Bridge Element
  • SmoothTouch Controls
  • Premium Stainless Steel Trim

I will say that I love induction cooking, though it took a while to find good quality induction cookware. We don't have gas so I've had coils, I've had radiant, I've had halogen. Induction is by far the best electric cooking option available today.

The induction itself is nice on this cooktop, but the support and the touch controls on this model are far, far inferior to anything else out there. I love touch controls and was really excited when my radiant cooktop went out and was able to get a touch cooktop. My, was I disappointed. These are the absolute worst controls. If there is any moisture on ANY part of the control surface it doesn't respond. If you boil something that large droplets splash onto the controls, they go nuts. All heating surfaces shut off and 'E1' starts flashing. You have to clean and dry the entire touch surface, hold 'power' to reset, then turn back on the burners you need then adjust them to the setting they had. A real deal breaker if you are cooking something that removing the heat will mess it up.

Drops of water cause malfunction. Laying a damp towel causes malfunction. Putting anything metal over the controls causes malfunction.

I have many touch control appliances and none have this behavior. Even my Rosewill portable induction burner performs flawlessly and has none of these problems.

For the controls alone I do not recommend this cooktop. Get the one with knobs or another brand. This one is a 'fail'.

EDIT: After multiple attempts to contact LG email support and their webpage doesn't work, I find support very lacking in addition to the failure of this product.

Buy LG 30" Induction Cooktop Now

The LG Ceramic Glass Induction Cooktop is one of the best kept secrets in the cooking world. If people could try it, they would never go back to electric or gas. It is just about perfect!

When my 32 year old electric range finally bit the dust, my engineer husband talked me into "trying" LG's Induction Cooktop. I am a very old fashioned person, tending to stay with the tried and true method of whatever, but,I agreed to give it a go.

Wow! Am I ever glad I did. It cooks unbelievably fast, even and clean. The cooktop saves energy in the summer, because only the pots or pans get hot, not the burner. And, when I cut off the burner, it stops cooking immediately, because it doesn't have to cool down, like gas or electric.

If the pot boils over, I can immediately lift the pot and wipe off the mess. It is embarrassingly easy to keep clean no more having to wash electric burner pans in the dishwasher or replacing them when they rust.

I've had to relearn how to cook, because it cooks so much faster than my electric range. But, it has returned my joy and enthusiasm in cooking. For that, my husband is indebted to LG.

What can I say? Try it, you'll love it!

I chose this unit because it has good reviews and primarily a slim profile similar to the electric cooktop which it's replacing. The cooktop works great for 2 years (as others stated), but the unit stop working. It wouldn't turn on after a loud pop. I called LG customer service to check on my warranty and repair options. My unit is out of warranty after 1 year and the only thing they cover up to 5 years is the cooktop glass. I'm pretty much on my own in terms of getting it repair (this can be costly depending what internal parts are broken). I'm giving it a 2-stars because while I'm satisfied with the performance of the cooktop, but disappointed that it lasted less than 2 years.

Want LG 30" Induction Cooktop Discount?

I was a bit concerned spending this much on a cooktop and via an on-line purchase, but the cooktop shipped and delivered quickly. No issues and it is in great working order.

As for cooking, it is really amazing. Aside from having to buy new cookware, the speed of this cooktop is great. Heats up very quickly, and boils a cup of water faster than the microwave.

The family is very impressed with this product and would highly recommend it to others.

Save 14% Off

We purchased the LG 30" induction cooktop two years ago. It has performed beyond our expectations. It is powerful when you need to bring something up to temperature fast. There was a little bit of a learning curve when we first got it. We found medium or lower heat works best to keep foods from sticking or burning.

The glass top is easy to clean and and looks so nice with a quick wipe of a paper towel.

The duel burner is a nice feature because you can use large pots or the long griddle that comes with the cooktop.

The unit is maybe 4" deep which meant that we were able to use a base cabinet with 3 drawers, two deep drawers for pots and pans, and a 6" drawer for tools and hot pads. The top drawer stays cool even while using the burners.

When purchasing pots and pans, read the label. Induction is becoming more popular and pot and pan companies label their products accordingly. Your old pots and pans may not work on this cooktop...you just bought a new cooktop, go buy yourself some new pots and pans!

We are now planning our retirement home and we would definitely re-purchase this cooktop for our next home.

Brita MYRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement Filter

Brita MYRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement FilterEasy ordering, timely shipping, no reason not to order from here again. This model is a replacement to the Maytag original. No difference in taste or performance and it's less expensive.

We purchased these filters instead of the brand that came with the refrigerator because they are a fair amount less costly and because we've had good luck with other Brita filters in the past. Have used one of the six we ordered so far, for about a month, and the water tastes perfect just like it always has. The physical fit is a tad less tight on the fitting than the old filters, but it's got the same o-ring seal and doesn't leak. Don't know how long it will last before needing replacement again, but it should be every bit as good as the original. Recommended.

Buy Brita MYRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement Filter Now

Easy to install just like the original filter, works fine, no problems and half the price. However, unable to compare the types of things the Brita filters out of the water as compared to the manufactures' original filter. Brita states on box by law it is not allowed to make the same claims as manufacture. So does it just filter out chlorine and fluoride or does it also filter lead and small particles like the Original maufactures' filter does? Who knows?

Purchased this filter as a replacement for the Maytag version. It fits perfectly, and we believe the water tastes better. I will buy this filter again.

These filters offer the same benefits that Puriclean filters because they are compatible with Maytag refrigerators, the main advantage is that they are cheaper that the original ones. It is a good option.

Not sure what the problem is with the fridge the other three reviewers were delivered, but I bought mine on 5/16/11 and it was delivered free of charge on 5/18 (they had a spring special going on on the compact appliance site). I was concerned about the reviews I read here, but I had already bought it, so, I went and bought a fridge thermometer. I put it inside the glass, about half way down the fridge. I plugged it in around 1PM and by 10PM, the temp was about 38 degrees. That seems pretty damned cold to me. So no problems so far. Very well built, very solid, and the glass front with LED light is pretty badass in my man cave.

I will say, and hence the missing fifth star, that the Instructions...um......suck. I needed to change the way the door opened (right to left) and it would have been nice to have some instructions. I eventually figured it out, but it took me about an hour to get the door just right, so it closed with a tight seal.

Additionally, it would help to have some guidance on the initial setup. The manual basically says "plug it in". Im not kidding. It has an "ON" setting and a "1-7" setting. I think you turn it 'ON" and get it cold and then set it to the level you want after that. But there is nothing to tell you if "1" is the coldest or "7" is the coldest. This would take one sentence to explain, and would be helpful.

Lastly, I dont think anyone works at EdgeStar. I called ten times to get some answers and was on hold each time for about 3 minutes and then it said "please leave a message". I finally did but never received a response. I also sent an email with my number and email, and again, no response.

So, if you want a good looking, well built fridge that DOES get cold, and are comfortable that no one is available to address any of your questions, then you can't go wrong with this.

I have had this product for about four days. Only the bottom shelf and the very back of the unit keep beverages cold enough. It will be difficult to get back into the packaging and return. Great concept, poor execution.

Want EdgeStar 84 Soda Can Beverage Cooler Fridge - Stainless Steel Discount?

Just like the other two reviews. It's nice and quiet, looks great, but barely keeps drinks cool. It's better than nothing, but not a LOT better than nothing. I wish I had bought a mini-fridge in black like I wanted, but the GF said looked "tacky". At least I won that one.... .

Do NOT buy one of these. You will not be happy with it.

As many have stated, this little cooler has issues getting cold enough anywhere other than the back right where the coolant line enters the back plate. Oddly, the designers decided this is where the temperature sensor should go. Because of this bad design, the sensor picks up the temperature at the very coldest part of the unit and so the rest of the unit stays too warm. There is a video on the EdgeStar website instructing owners how to move the sensor away from that spot. It has worked for me and even though the very back items still get colder than the rest, the rest do now get cold...and I don't have to set it at 7 (the maximum) anymore.

So, it was a poor choice by the designers but at least EdgeStar helped some by acknowledging the issue and providing a work-around.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed MetalI've had the Cuisinart DCC-1200 for about a week now. I was hesitant to spend so much on a coffee maker but I'm happy to report it's well worth it. Sure, you can get other brands of coffee makers for under $25 if economy is the most important feature, but I've had those machines and I decided that, this time, a good cup of coffee was most important for me. This unit makes the best coffee I've had in a home or office machine and better than most coffee I've had in restaurants.

This coffee tastes smooooooth! I suspect the charcoal water filter is the reason for that. I also like the "shower head" design of the water spout. The water actually runs up a track onto the underside of the lid and is sprinkled over the ground coffee like a rain shower.

It's an attractive unit but it also looks like a serious coffee maker. This unit is no toy. It looks and feels solid. The carafe has a good solid feel and balance. The plastic parts (like the plastic carafe lid and handle) feel like good heavyweight plastic and are well molded. It's not the lightweight crappy plastic that cracks and discolors easily in the cheap coffee makers.

I like the 5 beeps when the coffee is ready. Now I can leave the kitchen and go clean or whatever and I don't have to keep running back to see if I can get a cup yet. I can hear the beeps. But if I really can't wait and want a cup in mid-brew, I can just remove the pot and pour a cup you've got a full 30 seconds to reinsert the pot, before you risk an overflowing filter.

I like the permanent gold-tone filter too. I always thought paper filters were a pain. They'd fold over sometimes and there'd be grounds in my coffee. But you can use paper filters in this machine if you want to. I just prefer the convenience of the gold-tone filter (top rack machine washable too).

It has an indicator light for cleaning -it says it's "self-cleaning" but really it's just a light telling you when you need to pour in a pot of water/vinegar and run it through to decalcify the unit. (I never thought to do that with my other units. Probably another reason my coffee wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.)

The low-medium-high setting on the hot plate is pretty nice too. And the auto-shutoff feature is great. I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the machine off.

The instruction booklet is very good and very thorough. Comes with a parts reordering form too.

What don't I like about this machine? It requires maintenance in that you have to change the charcoal filters. But actually I don't mind since I think they are the reason the coffee tastes so smooth, and they are very easy to change and not expensive

Also, the area in the top of the machine where you pour in the water is narrow but again this is just a minor inconvenience. Just have to pour a little carefully.

So really it's almost all positives with a couple of very minor negatives. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) When my Braun FlavorSelect coffee maker unexpectedly stopped working, I had to scramble to find a new machine. I wanted another Braun, but unfortunately, they seem to have stopped making a 12 cup coffee maker. So I had to begin an intense search for a machine that had the features I wanted combined with good value. I finally found it with this Cuisinart model.

The advantages? For one, it makes excellent and HOT coffee. The carafe is solidly constructed and fits securely in square body so there's no chance of someone accidentally knocking it loose. Because the lid fits tightly, the pour is precisely narrow and smooth, with no side leaks even when the pot is full. The basket fits inside the housing instead of swinging free like so many models which prevents a misalignment between the water and the filter; the conical (Krups/Braun style) basket accepts both paper filters and gold-tone, although I learned the hard way that not all gold filters fit. The timer is very easy to program, as is the clock. The carafe warmer can be set at low, medium, or high for the temperature that's right for you. I found the "high" setting too hot since I drink my coffee black (I like my coffee hot but not scalding!), but those who add a lot of milk might appreciate it. The brewing is quick and efficient, with the process taking about a minute a cup, maybe less. The retro/stainless look complements most modern kitchen décors. There's a 1-4 cup setting to make sure such small amounts stay hot, and you can select how long the warmer remains on. The pot beeps five times when brewing is complete and just before the warming plate shuts off. Parts are top rack dishwasher safe. It comes with a water filter system designed to improve the taste of the brew.

But the Cuisinart does have disadvantages. The water reservoir is located on the right side, in the back, which makes it a little challenging for lefties like me to dump the final bit of water inside even though the carafe pours very accurately. Although I haven't yet missed the opening, I do struggle briefly with those last few drops unless I use my right hand. The housing is fairly tall, so if your counter space is only under the cabinets, you may not be able to lift the top in its entirety. (This is when the small rear reservoir becomes a major issue as you have to have room to completely lift the rather large top toward the back.) Clearance required: 7.5" wide by 8.5" deep of counter space with no overhead obstruction to pull out for filling OR 21.5" of overhead space to fully lift top. Without the top open, the coffee maker measures 7.5"w x 8.5"d x 14.25"h.

If you have the space for this coffee maker, you'll love it. I can't attest to how long it will last, but, as it comes with a three year warranty, I'm hoping for a good run.

Buy Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Now

Two weeks ago, I needed a new coffee maker. The Krups Aroma Control maker is in all the stores and catalogs, so I bought one in the local mall BEFORE reading the Amazon reviews. BIG MISTAKE. Lesson learned read the reviews many negative comments. I used it for 3 days, and readily understood the description (...) of "eye candy" (looks nice, but seems like cheap plastic) and weak coffee (what they describe as a feature allowing the coffee to steep is really a euphemism for a poorly designed system that is guaranteed to give you a weak cup of coffee). One redeeming feature the carafe is very nice.

Within 2 days of having the Krups, i was on Amazon looking for a replacement coffee maker (a good cup of coffee is critical in the morning!). I went out on the risk curve and ordered the new Cuisinart no reviews yet. The Cuisinart has a more classic brewing system (water goes through grinds via gravity), yields a delicious cup of HOT coffee, has a variable temperature hot place, and looks and feels solid. We happen to have stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, freezer, stove), and it matches beautifully. Best news excellent coffee!. I would highly recommend the Cuisinart.

I've commented on others' reviews, but wanted to get this up there where people can see it readily. I liked this coffee maker a LOT since I got it just over a year ago. It has a few little quirks, which you'll read about in other reviews, but made good coffee and I hadn't had any problems with it. UNTIL last week. It auto-brewed like normal and my husband had taken his coffee and left the pot with the remaining coffee (2-3 cups worth) for me to drink later. I came into the kitchen perhaps 20 minutes after the brewing to find the pot BOILING...literally, a HARD, rolling boil, there was a little smoke and the kitchen smelled like burning wires. I cringe every time I think of what "could" have happened if I hadn't been there! I removed the pot, unplugged the unit, and poured water into the reservoir in hopes of cooling it down which worked.

I was outside the return time for Amazon so I contacted Cuisinart to inquire about the 3-year limited warranty. They "normally" charge a $10 replacement fee, plus require you to pay to send the old unit back to them. They were willing to waive the $10 return fee, but I paid $9.95 to send the old one back. I haven't yet gotten the replacement, but after doing more research, I've decided that I don't feel safe using it. I've contacted the Consumer Products Safety Commission (1-800-698-2772) and suggest that anyone with a similar problem do so. I think that this coffee maker should be recalled.

I'm adding more here in hopes that this review gets refreshed and up to the top again! In addition, I've commented the following on another's review:

"I'm one of those who posted in an earlier posting about the fire hazard on this coffeemaker. I am SHOCKED that it is still being sold! People if you are looking at this coffeemaker, I suggest you keep looking. Yes, it makes great coffee and looks great, as many reviewers have said. However, please give more weight to the safety issues than the coffee or the looks. As far as I can tell there have been no injuries from this...but it seems just a matter of time. If you insist on this coffee maker, don't ever leave it alone on the stay warm setting!"

Want Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Discount?

Folks, this is one excellent coffee maker. I read the comments here and decided to get it even though some had complained of spillage when lifting the lid and also the coffee not being hot enough. Well I can tell you that when I lift the lid on mine, the water rolls to the back and then drips back into the machine on a nifty little lip attached to the back of the machine. It appears that Cuisinart has engineered a solution for the complaints of spilled water that some reviewers mention. Also, the coffee coming out of the carafe of my machine has steam drifting off of it, so it is plenty hot, another complaint that seems to have been remedied. There were also a couple of complaints about finger prints on the stainless and the small LED clock being hard to read, but let's be for real, all brushed stainless appliances will fingerprint and this is a very stylish coffee maker, not a kitchen clock(that's what your microwave is for! (wink)). Actually I think the Cuisinart guys intended the clock for autoprogramming functions and made it LED to match the stainless on the machine. And if you don't like the water filter, you don't have to use it. It is a nicety and can be readily found if you search the net for "dcc1200 water filter".

Enough defending complaints though. This machine makes superb coffee. It has the best carafe I have ever used(it will not spill a drop and it has a built-in plastic rim to keep you from busting it on the sink). It comes with a gold metal filter. Buy it and you will like it. And if for some strange reason you don't, then take it back. All jabs aside, this is an outstanding machine in form as well as function, and the people at Cuisinart obviously care what their customers think of their products. That means alot to me. How about you???

GE GDSS0KCXSS 20.2 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Energy Star

GE GDSS0KCXSS 20.2 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • ALWAYS FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE USA

I bought a stainless steel GE bottom freezer refrigerator five years ago when I renovated my kitchen. It looked so nice and shiny and it worked fine until last year. Then the top section up and died.

I got on the GE website and scheduled a service appointment. The repairman finally came at 5:30 p.m. after I was home waiting for him all day long, but he did come on the day he said he would.

He inspected the fridge, told me the thermostat regulator for the top section had gone kaput, and installed a new one. I asked him how long that part was guaranteed for and he said five years.

I almost hit the roof. My previous fridge had been a top-freezer GE which lasted 17 years and was still in good working order when I tossed it. For $1300, I told the repairman, I expect everything in that fridge to last 100 years minimum and not a day less.

Anyway, the fridge worked fine again until last week, when I noticed it wasn't cold enough. Back to the GE website to make another service appointment. This time they sent the same guy but at least he came early.

He opened the fridge, and voila! The fan had up and died.

He replaced the fan, put everything back together nicely, and handed me a bill for $246.15. Labor: $194.99. Tax: $17.49. Fan: $2.98. I shelled out over two hundred bucks to replace a piece of plastic that cost $2.98.

GE, you've been warned. If anything else in that fridge conks out before 2025, I'm tossing the whole thing out and buying a Kitchen-Aid.

Judy Lind

UPDATE 8/15/11:

Holy-freaking-moly, would you believe this thing has conked out AGAIN?! For the THIRD TIME in SEVEN YEARS?!

Forget the repairman. Forget GE altogether. I'll be hanged if I'm shelling out another $250 to fix this dog. I will never, ever buy another GE product in this life or the next one. Kitchen-Aid, here I come.

Supco Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-Pack

Supco Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-PackI researched the net and Amazon for the best value in a water filter for my Maytag refrigerator. The best value by far was the Aquafresh WF 295 water filter that is a replacement for the OEM Maytag UKF8001. I was able to purchase the Aquafresh filters in a three pack through Amazon from DeepDiscountco. The cost of the three pack was the best value by far and the cost per filter was less than half of the UKF8001. DeepDiscountco shipped for free and there was no tax applied. What a deal!!! The filters arrived quickly and I was surprised at how easy it was to change the filter in my Maytag. The Aquafresh filter fits and works just like the original UKF8001. The owner of DeepDiscountco sent an email thanking me for the purchase and telling me to contact him if there were any issues (there were none) with a promise of a quick resolution by make me satisfied. What more can you ask for in customer service? I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I was so very happy with this purchase I could not help but share this info with others. Aquafresh Replacement for UKF8001 Refrigerator Filter, 3-Pack

Very disappointed, less than a week after first installation I can already taste clorine in our water and ice. The original PUR filter went through 3 300 gallon cycles before I finally bought these filters and I never tasted clorine whatsoever. Live and learn, I was turned off by the cost of the PUR filters and tried to save some money. Next time I'll buy the PUR filters, but I guess I'm stuck with the clorine for two more filter replacements.

Best price, good quality filters, perfect fit and arrived very quickly!! I liked the fact I could get a 3 pack, also.

I bought these instead of the OEM to save some money. The water just does not taste the same as the OEM Maytag brand. Nice product, fits nice, but I would spend the extra money and get the OEM Maytag filters instead.

I guess what you pay for. I ordered this off brand of filter and now you can't stand the taste of the water or ice. I will be getting the Maytag brand which i have NEVER had a problem. I even have 2 extra filters that I can't use!!!!!

GE WR55X10942 Refrigerator Main Control Board

GE WR55X10942 Refrigerator Main Control BoardIf you are reading this, odds are your GE Profile fridge is quite warm on a Sunday night. You are desperately trying to figure out what's wrong. This board may solve your problems. It is a recalled part so you may be able to get it from GE for free. After what we went through, I hope amazon leaves this review up as a service to their customers. In return, the customers can spend their money on other amazon items.

The problem was as follows. We have a GE Profile fridge, Model PSC23NGSA (from 2005) with the vertical side by side doors. (I think these are called "French doors".) Neither the fridge or the freezer was staying cool. The fridge was making a clicking

sound. Opening the doors, the display on the front was flashing "HRS".

We did some basic troubleshooting. Put the food into coolers to try and save it as well as clear the vents. We unplugged and plugged the fridge back in. We made sure it was not in demo mode. The thermostat had been replaced in the past so that rules that out.

Doing some web searches showed that this has happened to others as well. The original board was recalled by GE on November 7, 2006. There was a letter that was sent out to technicians about this but not to customers. We called GE at 18003861215, option 3. We stated what the refrigerator was doing. We brought up the recall and stated we wanted this part.

Initially, GE was going to ship the part out in 3-5 days. My wife ordered them to overnight it. With President's Day, we got it the following day due to the post office.

Installing it was fairly straightforward for me. Below are the steps I used. Your experience may be different.

Tools required: socket wrench, SAE socket set, needle nose pliers, light

Steps:

Unplug fridge from wall outlet

Move it to where you can get at cover plate

Remove cover plate using the socket wrench

Make a diagram or take pictures of which connectors went to what locations on the board

Unplug connectors. You may have to use the pliers.

Remove old board. It rests on these plastic standoffs

Put in new board

Plug in connectors into new board.

Move fridge back in to place

Plug into wall outlet

I found a parts diagram online. If you've ever swapped a motherboard in a computer, you can definitely do this. The instructions will walk you through it. If you have the model with the freezer on the bottom, one would cut some wires before installing. The instructions go over that as well. After you are done installing the board, it will take about 2 to 3 hours to get back cool. This even in an empty fridge.

I've had it installed for just over a week now. The fridge is back in service. My wife says the freezer seems to be colder. Overall, frustrating, but resolved now. Hopefully this will help someone else out there.

I got a free main board replacement PN: WR55X10942 on Aug 22, 2012. The customer service person was aware of the main board issues and asked for my model and serial number refrigerator to see if it was covered. My fridge is a stainless steel 25 cubic foot side by side, model GSH25JSRF SS with a ship date of Mar 2006. I was informed that the main board was covered, but because it was outside of the 5 year replacement period I was told that the board would be provided free and that I would be responsible for the $100 service call to replace it. I am a mechanical/electrical engineer and feel very comfortable replacing the board myself (as should anyone reading this) I told the GE representative that I have read several posts on the internet where people have opted out of the service call and installed the board themselves. I asked to opt out of the $100 service call and fee, requested them to ship the board to my house, and told him that I would install it myself.

The board could not be any easier to install just 2 screws to remove the cover on my model and 5 or so connectors to remove and plug in on the new board. Here is a how to install it on a different model fridge

My fridge had the following symptoms:

The Water dispenser stopped working and would not dispense water about 4 months ago (this is related to the main board from what I have read)

A week ago the fridge would start clicking with a frequency of about 1 click per second for hours on end until the compressor kicked in and the unit ran. This cycle repeats every few hours. During this clicking I noticed the interior refrigerator lights dim, a weird buzzing sound coming from the box in the top left side of the fridge (defroster unit?) and the fan for the condenser would jerk and turn about 10 degrees, and the compressor and condenser cooling fan would not run. The clicking seemed to be coming from relay largest relay on the board. The relay is manufactured by Omron and has a part number G8P-1C4P. It has a 12VDC coil and a NO ( normally open) contact rating of 20A and 250V.

During my google searches attempting to find the root cause of this mode of failure, so I could attempt to fix the board on my own, I found this letter advising technicians of the main board recall. It was sent from the National Service Manager, Richard Zutterman, dated Nov 7 2006In my google searches, calling home depot, and calling GE I had about six 1-800 phone numbers to call. I decided to try and call the National Service Manager Rickard in the above mentioned letter and got his voicemail. On his voicemail he asks people calling about the main board issue to call 1-800-749-6629. He must hate that people posted that letter on the internet. I called that number. Several people on the internet have commented that GE customer service was very good. I was shocked because dealing with them over my front load washing machine back in 2007 was a nightmare. I work with a lot of very bitchy ladies that had to take customer service training as a department in response to complaints from other departments in the company that had to work with them. I am happy to report that my interactions with the GE customer service today were "A+" quality. It could not have been any better and I am being very critical about that.

I think our customer service consultant would agree, the GE customer service person I talked to was outstanding.....simply perfect. I am not just saying that because I got a free board.....but it does help I got exactly what I wanted.

If you have a dishwasher manufactured between Dec 2006 and 2010 then do not call GE about it to see if it is under recall. It is locking up their phone lines right now (I was on hold for 20-30 mins) go to

My 2 year old bottom freezer refrigerator started to have the classic symptoms, not always cooling, one second clicking sound when not cooling. Some times the refrigerator cooled but not the freezer part. Sometimes neither part cooled while the fridge started to click. (Clicking is from relay noise).

I ordered this universal board for my fridge from Amazon.com. I took advantage of the FREE shipping. It arrived quickly in a timely fashion. It was a sealed GE factory board and not a brand X board. First class! The board came with clear instructions to be used for your particular refrigerator.

In my case, I removed the small rear panel on the back side of the fridge to expose the board. You then unplug the fridge, pull out the connector plugs from the board, remove the ground wire under a screw, remove the board off of 4 plastic standoff spacers, install the new board onto the spacers and then plug in all the wire connectors onto the new board. My new board had many more parts on it then the old board. You cannot plug the wrong connector into a wrong socket. Each connector has a different number of pins on it so any one plug will fit into only one socket.

In some cases a wire needs to be cut on one of the plugs per the instructions, but for my model this was not neccessary. Also, for BOTTOM FREEZER refridgerators, you need to take the lower panel off exposing the compressor and check if you have a start capacitor on your fridge. (The diagram shows you where the start capacitor would be located if you have one). If you have one, you need to cut a ground wire off a plug. In my case no wire needed to be cut as I had no start capacitor on my fridge. In short all I had to do was to swap out boards on the fridge and then put the panels back in place with screws.

For tools I needed a Phillips screw driver, but to remove the old board a pair of needle nose plyers helped removing the old board off the stand off legs as they needed to be squeezed before the board could be lifted off the standoffs one at a time. There are 4 plastic standoff legs holding the board in place. I didn't need to cut any wires but if you did need to cut one or two a small wire cutter would be handy. Otherwise a pocket knife would do the job.

If you follow the clear instructions you won't make a mistake. In my case I could replace the board again now that I did it once in less then 5 minutes. Doing it the first time, so you don't mistake, should take you no more the 15 to 20 minutes being very careful.

One last thing, THE BOARD FIXED THE REFRIGERATOR! (Please understand after reoplacing the board and turning the fridge on again, once plugging it back into the wall, will require hours of operation before the fridge and freezer are cold enough to turn the compressor off. In my case, with an empty fridge, I got tired of waiting to see if it would turn off after three hours of operation watching it. When I checked the next day, it was cold and not running. Everything was working just fine. It took a long time before it shut off even when the fridge was empty. (So be patient).

You can do the repair yourself and save a lot of money! The part from Amazon cost about half the list price of the board, no tax, and I also saved the cost of the repairman's labor. In my case I had actually called a repairman, two weeks later he had the board but never showed up on his appointment. I fired him and did the job myself quicker and for less money.

Had a problem with my GE fridge, not cooling and acting erratic. After some online research pinpointed the problem to this board..... Ordered from Amazon. Received part faster than expected and as described in the listing it was a Brand New Original GE part still Sealed in the box. Instructions were easily understood and installation was a snap.

Want GE WR55X10942 Refrigerator Main Control Board Discount?

Purchased a GE side-by-side refrigerator in 2007. Thing started moaning, howling and we've put up with it for 2 years. Finally pursued a fix by researching online. Turns out the main control board by the OEM (original equipment manufacturer), a subcontractor for GE, used boards that made the fan in the freezer section run at either the incorrect frequency or what I interpret as a variable frequency. Took a chance and purchased the card based on some posts on separate websites about the issue. Card was a success, easily installed with a pair of needle nose pliers and a 1/4" socket wrench. Board came double-boxed with bubble wrap as well. Official GE instructions were included. Quiet has been restored.

By the way, GE was no help in this matter. Despite seeing posts online about GE possibly providing new boards, three separate calls to GE were unfruitful. GE asked the standard questions: when did the warranty expire, did I have an extended warranty. The troubleshooting line was not prepared to perform analysis beyond the most basic of issues. The entire GE interaction was disappointing to say the least.

If you have a GE fridge and it moans or howls, consider a main circuit board replacement. Any price under $125 is an easy beat of the prices GE will offer from their own sources.

Frigidaire FRIGIDAIRE 240323002 REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN

Frigidaire FRIGIDAIRE 240323002 REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN
  • THIS FRIGIDAIRE 240323002 REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN WORKS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF FRIGIDAIRE, KENMORE
  • CROSELY AND OTHER REFRIGERATOR MODELS.
  • THIS BIN IS 16" WIDE WITH A FULL BOTTOM AND CURVED EAR
  • Works with the following models: Frigidaire BGHS2634KE0, Frigidaire BGHS2634KE1
  • Frigidaire BGHS2634KP0, Frigidaire BGHS2634KP1, Frigidaire BGHS2644KF0, Frigidaire BGHS2644KF1

We purchased this FRIGIDAIRE side by side for our home and rental property, last year! We are a two person family and the rental property was an older man and women. Approximately, 9 months after purchase we noticed fractures, tiny vein like splits in the bottom of a few bins while cleaning them, on both refrig. We assumed they were natural plastic folds and ignored them. two months ago ,one Gallon bin (# 240-324502) came crashing to the floor, when our niece opened the refrigerator door. The bin held mustard, ketchup and assorted salad dressing bottles. The Gallon bin is rated for two gallons of milk. THIS WOULD NEVER HOLD THAT WEIGHT! The bin broke away at the hinges and the fracture finally broke the bottom out. We assumed she pulled on it and did not contact FRIGIDAIRE! Two days ago, I opened the frig door and another on came crashing to the floor, breaking glass bottle condiments on my kitchen floor. The same breaks and fracture in the plastic were apparent. THESE BINS ARE CHEAP AND DEFECTIVE! I contacted FRIGIDAIRE and they told me its over the year warranty, SORRY; and gave me all the phone numbers, web addys, parts locations in Jacksonville one hour away) and info to purchase some more PLASTIC BINS! GALLONS ARE $43.58 , Smaller bins are $34.50, plus shipping and handling! When I checked our rental properties refrigerator, our tenants had one broken bin in the garage already! All were already fractured!

I spoke with FRIGIDAIRE AGAIN! Explaining to them this is a defective plastic and needs their attention. I was told for a service fee of aprox $125.00, they would send out a rep to view the plastic bins for defects. But only then would it be noted that they were defective and it was their opinion that had the last word.

Who thought that game up over there at FRIGIDAIRE?? Make the customer pay out of pocket $125.00 bucks for a FRIGIDAIRE REP to tell you what you already know they will say.." Sorry, they are not defective", and be out $125.00 and still have no bins to hang on your refrigerator door inside this big stainless steal over priced chill box?? Are they that cruel and uncaring?

That deal already sounds BIAS and being out $125.00 is not fair game. So, all in all this is my OPINION:

They make money off these broken bins! BIG BUCKS! They want them to break away and make you think its your fault! Your kids are pulling on them, you are chilling 50lb weights in the bins, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM HERE, not FRIGIDAIRE!!

It the lowest of lowest scams. FRIGIDAIRE Produces cheap break away plastic bins that can't hold a bag of marshmellows, yet rate them for two gallons of milk, and keep the customer re-purchasing their parts. I'd be ashamed to be the engineer who rated these! It was probably a monkey with some building blocks and a banana reward system, named BOBO the chimp!

FRIGIDAIRE is not true to its customers. FRIGIDAIRE is GUILTY of producing Cheap bins for a high grade expensive refrigerator and refuse to do anything about it! "FRIGIDAIRE" SHAME ON YOU!!!

We will never purchase, FRIGIDARE APPLIANCES again! WE WILL PASS THE WORD ABOUT THEIR CHEAP BINS, RE: FB,MS, Quepasa,Blogs,Tweets,Emails, letters and web!Just like the their overwhelming many "Frigidaire parts" sites! I adore the internet for this, getting it out there for as many people to see as possible! We pray this stopped someone from making this mistake and purchasing from a BIG company who found away to never stand behind their product! Unless, you want to pay for a FRIGIDAIRE REPRESENTATIVE to say it to your face? It can be arranged.

My Frigidaire Model Number FRS6LF7JS0 uses two of this type of bin, both are on the two lower-most door bins. One of our bins broke off, the lower-most door bin after 46 months of solid use. It gave out without warning, but if you look at the plastic it is molded from, one can see that it can crack suddenly if taken to it's threshold. We would place all sorts of condiment jars, juice bottles, 2 liter soda bottles. It held a good amount of weight for it's size, it just gave out. I rate this bin 4 out of 5 stars because they could have made it out of a more rubber-like plastic, something that would not be as fragile or sudden to break under normal wear and tear. I inspected the remaining same-part-number bin above this and found some crazing on one side, where the plastic bin hooks onto the inner door liner. I would expect this other bin to give out soon as well. NOTE: The FRIGIDAIRE REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN P/N 240323002 goes on the two lower-most door shelf spaces on my model FRS6LF7JS0. The actual P/N that you will find on the part is 240323000, but for some reason, the catalogue will list the part as 240323002. It is the correct part for this fridge!

The bin itself is fine, and the price is reasonabe. Seller shipped quickly and appropriately packaged. Arrived without incident. Only problem is that it is hard to tell from the picture which of the four different types of door bins used by my Frigidaire refrigerator this is. This is the UPPER refrigerator door bin, not the Lower one. It cannot be used in several of the positions on the right hand door, nor can it be used in the freezer. This is a design flaw in the refrigerator, and a problem with the documentation of the unit, (the parts section of the user guide does not identify these as different parts) and no fault of the seller.

Want Frigidaire FRIGIDAIRE 240323002 REFRIGERATOR DOOR BIN Discount?

One of the shelves in our Frigidaire crashed to the ground (with several glass bottles of salad dressing) when we opened the refrigerator door a few weeks ago. As frustrated as I was, I did not call your company because I thought it was some fluke thing. This morning, the exact same thing happened as I was trying to get breakfast ready for my children. I had a disaster to clean up, simply from opening our refrigerator door. Shelves on the door should not be breaking in a refrigerator, from a reputable brand, that is barely 2 years old. I am so disappointed in Frigidaire. They are exactly the same and broke exactly the same way, so I am quite positive there is a problem with these shelves. It is so disappointing to be expected to purchase 2 new shelves for over $70, just to have the same thing happen again.

The shelf in my fridge broke. With a little effort I determined exactly the correct replacement part this smaller lower shelf. (A call to the Frigidaire rep helped. She was very precise in her question to be sure I was buying the correct replacement. There are two sizes of shelf in the right door. Upper shelves are larger, deeper with four plastic walls; lower shelves are more shallow with three plastic walls.) I think this product is a little overpriced for what it is -a plastic shelf. I also find that it breaks too easily during normal use (opening and closing the door with food or bottles occasionally falling over). I am very pleased with how well it fits. Make the effort to determine the right part and it will fit exactly in place.

Butler 45-Bottle Wine Cooler

Butler 45-Bottle Wine Cooler
  • Made from metal and wood
  • Black color
  • Holds upto 45 bottles
  • Includes a control panel lock
  • 24 in. W x 23 in. D x 34.5 in. H (119 lbs.)

The door on this cooler is poorly designed and will not stay shut. There is a little roller on the bottom that is supposed to keep the door closed but it does not work right. No latch at the top of door to help keep the door closed either. A magnet system would work better as on other units.. Also when you lock the door it still opens slightly and does not seal. The height is also incorrect as listed in their specs. They say the height is 32.25 but it is actually 34.50 and may not fit under your cabinet. The cooler is way over priced and I highly recommend you search for another brand. Look closely at reviews before buying a wine cooler as there are MANY poorly made as this China unit is. Yes, made in good ole China.
