I've had this product installed for about 2 months, and thus far it has fully met my expectations. It's unrealistic to expect to house 51 bottles due to the oversize width of some bottles. However, I had expected this based on reviews I read prior to my purchase. Realistically, plan on 46 bottles and be pleasantly surprised if you can get more in.

We bought this because it was the only counter-depth fridge we could find that had crushed ice; if I were to do it again I would forgo the ice crusher and get a different refrigerator...

Pros: Given the fact that it is a shallow depth design, and its ice maker/dispenser is very large, the thing has a surprising storage capacity. It has one shelf in the door big enough to hold a gallon or two of milk. There are three (three!) crispers--if you like crispers this is the fridge for you. The freezer is narrow but well thought out.

The store display and the salesman were both enthusiastic about the fact that you can slide an 18" pizza into this fridge and still close the door, so if you store a lot of large pizzas you should consider this fridge I suppose.

It is a very quiet fridge and judging from the utility bill it seems to be extremely efficient.

Cons: There are a lot. In order of importance:

The ice dispenser is so poorly designed it is almost surreal. It dispenses these moon-shaped cubes, and it will also chew these up and dispense them as crushed ice. Getting ice out of it is quite an adventure: you push your cup against this plastic trigger thing and then ice EXPLODES out of it. It might not do it right away--there might be a pause--maybe even a long pause--you will hear this rumbling noise--then like a cubic yard of ice will BLAST out of the fridge, fill your cup instantaneously, the proceed to dump ice all over the floor.

I am not kidding. The ice eruptions are so violent you eventually develop an involuntary wince whenever you touch the ice dispenser and you have to psych yourself up and take some deep breaths before you put yourself through the ice agony and violence followed by the inevitable sweeping lots of ice up and putting it in the sink.

The water line to the ice maker is a little plastic tube that snakes up along the back of the refrigerator and enters the freezer through a little fitting. The water line is prone to freeze up, which stops the ice maker from working. This seems to be a common problem with these judging from some internet searches. It is not difficult to pull the fridge out, shut the water off, pull the water line out and knock the ice out of it--but many people will not know how to do that and will require a service call to put it right. Very poor design.

The three (three!) crispers take up about 40% of the fridge space. Maybe that's okay with you, maybe not.

All the plastic bits, drawers etc inside the refrigerator are very flimsy. The plastic door over the ice maker was broken when the fridge was installed, apparently done in by the mere strain of being delivered. The drawers are thin plastic, don't slide well, feel cheap. This refrigerator cost a LOT of money, they can't make a decent plastic drawer for it?

All in all I don't think this appliance is worth the money; I suspect there are better values out there. But it will hold a remarkable amount of food for its size and it does seem to be very energy efficient.

I bought one of these about nine months ago from a large home improvement store (not through Amazon). I needed a counter-depth, stainless steel 'fridge, and it fits the bill. It keeps everything at the right temperature. So it basically does its job.

It is not, however, very robust. The shelf supports break easily, and they are not covered by the warranty. While they are inexpensive to buy (I found them on Amazon), they are fiddly to replace, and when replacing them I worried that the interior cladding of the 'fridge would crack. These supports don't hold up to family usage, with more than a few ounces of weight on the shelves. We certainly don't overload the fridge, but the shelves are full.

Recently, one of the cooler drawers cracked when I was trying to pull it open. Best practice: open the drawers with two hands rather than using one hand in the indicated space.

Previous reviewers commented on "exploding ice": I'd point out that the jet of chilled water is positioned differently to most water dispensers... and it takes a bit of practice to avoid water all over the floor.

Definitely not a high-price, high-quality refridgerator. If you have your heart set on a counter-depth, put a little more money into your purchase. You'll be better off.

(I do not understand why all fridges are not designed to be counter-depth. Who wants a monstrosity sticking out into the middle of the kitchen anyway?)

I've spent a portion of my life with this refrigerator. It was a great upgrade for us. Everything is good with this frig with some negatives, but it basically does what you want, and gives you a little extra space if you can accommodate its width.

1) The squeaky drawers were annoying at the outset, but loaded with food, they quit squeaking.

2) The variable temp drawer (fruit/vegetable, i.e. crisper) in the refrigerator is the coldest drawer, and even on warmest setting it freezes vegetables, first by the vent, then throughout. The solution is to leave the drawer cracked open 1/2 an inch. Somehow this doesn't touch the door, and gives enough air exchange to beat the problem. The other solution might be to make this the bread drawer, or something besides fruit.

3) The ice maker does blast ice. It does this variably, though, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the craziness. My last frig made terrible ice when it made any, so this is not a problem for me. It helps to have big mouth cups to catch all the ice.

4) If you care, the stainless front is very "magnetic", so all the junk you had on your old white frig can go right up on this one.

5) I've never experienced a stoppage on icemaking by line freezeup, but the paddle that swings down after making cubes has gotten a cube caught way up near its hinge point, and stopped making ice. This happened to us twice. Happily easily to fix and a rare occurrence.

All that said, we are pleased with this frig after 6 months of ownership. For the money, this is the frig I wanted.

The unit vents out to the sides, not out the back. When you try to build a cabinet around the wine cooler, it will not reach desired temperatures due to insufficient ventilation. The units measurements in the advertisement on Amazon were also incorrect. It said it was 13" deep and 22 inches wide. Actually, it is 13 inches wide and 22 inches deep. I contacted Amazon by phone and let them know of this discrepancy.

While looking for a reasonably priced small capacity wine cooler, decided to give this one a try.

The touch panel controls and temperature control mechanisms are unreliable and I first noticed touch panel strangeness after setting it up. The touch panel was initially non functional but with some fidgeting and taps to the top door hinge and realizing there is a wiring harness under the hinge cover, the touch panel worked but remained somewhat tempermental.

The unit appears to have gotten the temperatures mixed up and ended up activating the heater to heat the wine to a nice toasty temperature of over 85 degrees. I had a separate fridge thermometer to monitor after some initial temperature variances and an overheating incident related to a power outage. Two corks popped with such great force that the door popped open and spilled wine all over the floor.

When the unit worked it was fine and temperature was cool at the 45 and 55 degree settings. However, the unit ended up overheating or activating it's heater function and cooked the wine TWICE... no more going back to amazon after 2 weeks. Look elsewhere as now I am running triage on the 18 bottles of wine to see if they are still drinkable after a cook cycle... A lesson learned while getting into the hobby of wine drinking/storage/enjoyment.

Bought this to supplement a much larger wine refrigerator out in our garage that is only used for reds...this one is for the modest number of whites that we have on hand at any given time. It looks nice in our kitchen and is very quiet. It can hold 44 degrees in the upper compartment and maintain a 10 degree difference between compartments, with the caveat that the thermoelectric cooling cannot attain a temperature that is more than 30 degrees below ambient. What that means is that this fridge is not for use in a garage that can get to 100F+, as the wines would then get above 70F (I haven't tested the heating capability, but assume it is much more capable). There were no instructions for attaching the handle, but even I was able to figure that out. :-)

Bottom line: Do not buy this cooler. It's not worth it. The quality is horrible and it will break before a year is over.

If you still want to know why I feel this way: The top part of this "cooler" stopped working in January. I got the unit in October. The top portion "claims" to be able to cool to 44 degrees so I placed my white wine on top and the red wine on the bottom. I set the temperature to 47 but noticed recently that it was 60. Then it climbed to 70. And today was a whopping 77 degrees! It's February (read cold) and not even that warm in my house. My house is at 70 which means that the "cooler" is actually heating my wine. *horrifying* It's less of a wine cooler and more of a wine baker.

In regards to getting it fixed/replaced: The return window from Amazon has closed. They directed me to Home Depot who fulfilled the order. Home Depot did nothing to help me other than transfer me to other phone numbers/associates. The total time on hold/wait exceeded 1 hour. I finally got a hold of SPT. Their phone number is 1.800.330.0388. My problem is exacerbated by the fact that this was a gift from my wedding registry. So I had to hound my gift giver for the order information. Now SPT wants me to drive the fridge to their warehouse so they can inspect and possibly replace. Will post updates.

Not sure what the problem is with the fridge the other three reviewers were delivered, but I bought mine on 5/16/11 and it was delivered free of charge on 5/18 (they had a spring special going on on the compact appliance site). I was concerned about the reviews I read here, but I had already bought it, so, I went and bought a fridge thermometer. I put it inside the glass, about half way down the fridge. I plugged it in around 1PM and by 10PM, the temp was about 38 degrees. That seems pretty damned cold to me. So no problems so far. Very well built, very solid, and the glass front with LED light is pretty badass in my man cave.

I will say, and hence the missing fifth star, that the Instructions...um......suck. I needed to change the way the door opened (right to left) and it would have been nice to have some instructions. I eventually figured it out, but it took me about an hour to get the door just right, so it closed with a tight seal.

Additionally, it would help to have some guidance on the initial setup. The manual basically says "plug it in". Im not kidding. It has an "ON" setting and a "1-7" setting. I think you turn it 'ON" and get it cold and then set it to the level you want after that. But there is nothing to tell you if "1" is the coldest or "7" is the coldest. This would take one sentence to explain, and would be helpful.

Lastly, I dont think anyone works at EdgeStar. I called ten times to get some answers and was on hold each time for about 3 minutes and then it said "please leave a message". I finally did but never received a response. I also sent an email with my number and email, and again, no response.

So, if you want a good looking, well built fridge that DOES get cold, and are comfortable that no one is available to address any of your questions, then you can't go wrong with this.

I have had this product for about four days. Only the bottom shelf and the very back of the unit keep beverages cold enough. It will be difficult to get back into the packaging and return. Great concept, poor execution.

Just like the other two reviews. It's nice and quiet, looks great, but barely keeps drinks cool. It's better than nothing, but not a LOT better than nothing. I wish I had bought a mini-fridge in black like I wanted, but the GF said looked "tacky". At least I won that one.... .

Do NOT buy one of these. You will not be happy with it.

As many have stated, this little cooler has issues getting cold enough anywhere other than the back right where the coolant line enters the back plate. Oddly, the designers decided this is where the temperature sensor should go. Because of this bad design, the sensor picks up the temperature at the very coldest part of the unit and so the rest of the unit stays too warm. There is a video on the EdgeStar website instructing owners how to move the sensor away from that spot. It has worked for me and even though the very back items still get colder than the rest, the rest do now get cold...and I don't have to set it at 7 (the maximum) anymore.

So, it was a poor choice by the designers but at least EdgeStar helped some by acknowledging the issue and providing a work-around.

This product is a genuine GE Double Solenoid Water Valve. I wish I would have known that this was all I needed to fix my ice maker 3 years ago. My ice maker was "overcyling" and would overfill the ice tray when filling with water. We were seeing water on the floor outside the fridge/freezer and everything in the freezer was wet with icicles forming from the water. I had an "expert" repairman come out and tell me that it would need a new ice maker and the cost of repair would be $325. I told him I'd buy a new fridge before spending $325 to fix an ice maker. I finally decided to do some research to try to fix the problem and happened on this product. This product installed easily in 5 minutes with no special tools other than a nut driver, and I had my first batch of ice in less than an hour with no more water issues in the freezer.

The physical appearence was a little different and at first I worried a little bit.

But it did fit perfectly. Plugged it up and hooked up the plastic lines and it worked great. Definitly recommend it.

Upon finding a puddle of water coming from under the fridge and ice down the back of my freezer I defrosted the entire thing and then restocked it. After about two weeks the same thing. This little puppy was the culprit. Well the old one. Threw a new one of these in and everything is great. (My shizzle once again sizzles) Turns out the old ones can develop a slow leak that eventually ices up the ice maker water intake and inadvertently overflows down the back of the freezer and out the back of the fridge where with water line goes to the ice maker.

Direct repacement. 5 minute install works great. I have ice again and no more flooding. Old valve failed to shut off. The spring broke and not something stuck under the plunger.

The water valve for the ice maker in my 1994 GE Profile refrigerator started to leak water so I did some searching for a replacement part. With my refrigerator being so old, I wasn't sure if this was the right part, but it works just fine. Just bought this refrigerator to replace a 20 year old 21.7 cu ft GE. Our choice was limited by the size of cabinet opening to this Haier or numerous other smaller capacity (18 cu ft) models. Wasn't familiar with the brand. This is a basic, traditional top freezer model with really no bells or whistles which is fine less to go wrong. In researching for this purchase, it's apparent that all refrigerators these days are prone to problems and don't have a long life expectancy. Check it out all brands. This Haier may be the same, but it is assembled in North Carolina in a new plant and at around $500, I won't feel as bad if it dies in five years as I would if I'd paid $750 or $1000 for another brand. Materials and construction are as good or better than other brands we looked at and so far just a few weeks it's working fine. The refrigerator layout is good and has adjustable shelves. Freezer has a wire shelf that sits on legs on the freezer floor. It is adjustable left to right so you can collapse the shelf to half width and fit in a large turkey or whatever. That's a good idea, but there is something in the execution that needs improvement.

We also purchased the ice maker for about $60 which was easy to install. We also happened to get $50 for recycling the old refrigerator and $75 from Energy Star program so that took $125 off our total outlay.

Bottom line: Inexpensive,functional,works fine (so far), assembled in USA,recommended.

Was excited to have a longer term, eco-minded solution for the replacement filter for a replacement for the LG5231JA2006B. The filter takes a little more prep than the original replacements (soaking), but this isn't really too hard. The filter fits well and seemed to twist into place without a problem. The diameter is smaller, which is the only thing I have any concern over. Have been using the filter just over a month now with no problems.

These filters work well. They are smaller than the original ones in diameter, because it is saving plastic. No difference in the function. Fit is the same no leaking. Good buy , will purchase again.

This is a good product and a cheaper alternative to others. The taste of the waster is good and they last a really long time. In my house we probably use five to six gallons a day from it and it could go past the recommened six months. Only issue I have like many other people is the size. In my LG it fits but is smaller then the holder but it still works.

I recently bought a Turbo Air grab and go cooler (about 10 months ago).

Yesterday, the compressor went out. I called the company, and after a bit of hemming and hawing, they agreed to send me a replacement compressor.... but here is the kicker:

1. I have to pay to have it installed $250-$350.

2. I wont get it for a week... which means I will lose substantial sales for the next week thousands of dollars

3. When I asked them to overnight the compressor to me, they said they would charge me $150 to overnight it.

keep in mind they sent me a LEMON. A compressor should last 6-7 years... and yet they are making me eat the cost of this.

No dont buy any products from Turbo Air. There are many other kitchen equipment manufacturers out there that wont treat you like this.

I hated how Everpure filters cost an arm and a leg ($83.49 right now, but with free shipping) and how their flow drops down to a trickle in about six months. With three of these in our house, that's expensive. Even so, I was hesitant to try this replacement. Would it fit? How would the water taste? Great news! It fit perfectly and a blind taste test showed no difference with the Everpure filter.

I ordered just one of these as a test, but just placed an order for another -our third filter is not yet run out.

Also, if Pavel's data is right, this should be good for 10,000 gallons versus Everpure's 300 gallon rating. I doubt I'd leave it in that long, but it would be nice if the flow stayed reasonable until I was ready to replace it, instead of becoming agonizingly slow.

I will note that the form factor is slightly different from the H300. It's shorter and the top is a tiny bit larger diameter. That worked even better in my location, but check to make sure you have a little clearance at the top. Even if you ran into problems, another review here indicated that the vendor was very accommodating.

Installed easily, seems to work well (how can the homeowner know), and is a 1/4 of the price of the Body Glove unit it replaced.

This generic/off brand one for some reason taste better than the manufacturers one that I paid double for. Somtimes the cost goes for triple the cost. I am definitely going to reorder this one as it is 1/3 the cost of the one I use to pay for.
