The product looks great, but two problems make it DOA:

The control pad does not work at all. I've followed the instructions to unlock the pad to no avail. It's not responsive to my touch.

The compressor (part # AS30U6) works but sounds extremely loud. Louder, actually, than a washing machine on the spin cycle. There must be something broken in the compressor, it sounds like a rapid hammer (and even shakes the floor). I'm not joking around here This fridge is probably 10 times louder than any fridge other fridge I've heard (even commercial fridges). We got this fridge for this office, but honestly it's too loud for any room in my house. I'm pretty sure the compressor is broken and will completely fail soon. I've ordered a replacement compressor ($200) and plan on installing it myself because it costs almost as much in shipping to return the product.

I ordered this for my side-by-side GE refrigerator with upper, rear wall mounted ice maker. I read some other reviews and was worried about this product not being a direct replacement for the ice maker that came new with the refrigerator. NOT THE CASE!!! This is an OEM ice maker (regardless of another review I read) which is made in Indonesia just like the ice maker that comes with the refrigerator when it is new. It comes in a GE box with GE instructions. The cable length, mounting brackets and other critical items are all identical. The only difference is that the original ice maker had an on/off switch with an LED indicator. This has a slide switch which holds the ice arm in the full or retracted position. It installed in minutes and works perfectly.

The icemaker installed easily and started making ice within a few hours. The ice has all the characteristics of good ice. It's cold, it's hard and it cools my drinks!

I ordered the icemaker replacement because the plastic ice cube guard/deflector (plastic part with plastic teeth) had broken on my old icemaker, and this $1.00 part cannot be purchased separately. The replacement came, and the instructions said "DO NOT use the plastic ice cube guard in this new icemaker, replace with the guard from your old icemaker before installing". WHAT? Needless to say, I have used the guard that the new icemaker came with, and it has worked fine so far.

The print for my refrigerator showed the part #WR30X0327 as the icemaker I needed. Apparently it's obsolete and this #WR30X10093 was supposed to be the direct replacement. The adapter cord made the complete cord assembly way too long so had to do some maneuvering to get all the cord placed in the back so it could be mounted. Then the basket would not slide back in as this model hangs to low.

Then I get on here and find I can't return it. Great system!!

One thing I discovered is this part is listed under at least one other model number depending on where you look for it (in my case, a GE part lookup site, where this part number was in the URL but a different one was displayed on-page). That said it seems to be a pretty much universal icemaker for GE refrigerators, and in my case the Amazon price was well below what the refrigerator repair company quoted, and when accounting for the labor cost they would have charged, I saved upwards of $250 this way.

The only part of the installation that was confounding was that for my type of refrigerator, the instructions state to remove the plastic bar that runs across the tray and replace it with the one from the old (broken) icemaker. Problem was, that old one didn't quite fit this one right...it was too big, causing it to buckle slightly. I had to cut down the edge of the inner-most tooth to get a clean fit. No big deal, but a slight over-site by the manufacturer in assuming that the strip from the old icemaker would have the exact same dimensions. It's not a huge issue as this is not a moving part...it simply needs to not block the rotating plastic pins in the tray. I'm guessing that most people don't even bother anyway, and just leave the default strip in there.

Other than this minor adjustment, it was a snap. It fit in my freezer right where the old one went perfectly. It came with a new water tube, but I didn't need it. It also came with the wrong water funnel (where the water falls into the device), but it also had the correct mount for me to place the one from my old icemaker in the correct position, so again, no problems.

All in all, a sort of one-size-fits all replacement that lives up to its billing 99% of the time, and the remaining 1% is easy enough to work around.

And as the heading says, DO NOT throw out your old icemaker. You may need to salvage a couple of rudimentary parts from it to make this one fully compatible with your fridge...in fact, the instructions and design of this unit count on it.

EDIT: I just noticed that a lot of the rows of ice that came out of this icemaker were frozen together. This is typically a result of the tray water level being too high, but I could find no adjustment screw/dial for this. Turns out that it is under the plastic cover of the icemaker (there's just one screw to remove, hidden under a screw cover). Once off I found a screw with a "+/-" by it, which adjusts the water level. All is well now, but sure wish this had been in the instructions.

Just replaced old ones after far too long in pot, and the difference between coffee with the old filters and the new filters is significant. These filters do what they are supposed to do, and do it well.

The filter really does seem to do something, for when I'm not using them the pot's "clean" light turns up every couple of weeks. When using, I often end up doing the monthly cleaning before the pot tells me to.

I just use city tap water. I suppose depending on your water quality you could get by without these. I'm not a big enough coffee connoisseur to be able to tell a difference in my coffee's flavor.

I've had my Kitchenaid coffee maker for two years now, making coffee daily, and never replaced the filter. I bought one four months ago at Home Depot. After a month, the temperature control went out for no apparent reason which caused all the contents to thaw. I unplugged the freezer, plugged it in again and it began to work. Magic Chef sent out a repairman to replace the temperature control. He seemed no at all surprised by my account of the freezer suddenly stopping then restarting.

After about a month, I noticed smelly, bloody liquid coming from the freezer once again. As I'm sure you've guessed, the freezer stopped once again for no apparent reason causing the loss of all contents once again. This time the freezer restarted without any assistance whatsoever after a few days. The freezer is in my basement, so it's quite possible that the contents could have thawed, sat that way for a few days and then frozen again after the freezer restarted. I'm not a bacteriologist, but I don't think anyone would recommend eating turkey, fish, beef, etc. that has sat at room temperature for a few days before being frozen.

Magic Chef has offered to refund the purchase price, but refuses to do anything about the lost food which only totals $62.50. Nonetheless, a freezer that works 98% of the time is more worthless than a freezer that never works. At least you won't lose food in the freezer that never works.

Based on my experience, I would urge you to stay away from Magic Chef. At the very least, don't put anything that would spoil in one.

Please do not buy buy. Don't waste your good earn dollars on a magic chef.you gonna regret it .you will be sad.the mcappliances customer service is horrible and annoying. They do not care about you. I almost cried when I ripped the handle off the ancient refrigerator at my apartment. My land lady is not the nicest person but luckily I was able to save it with this piece. Try and keep my security deposit ho.

I also bought this at Sam's. Be warned: the picture on the box shows another model, which is built-in/recessed. This model requires approx. 2" clearance on each side and should not be recessed.

The fridge is around 29" in height--just below counter-top in our kitchen. This made it easy to find a space for it.

What I don't like about it is that the rear mechanism is uncovered; also the racks are wire racks (when you put bottles on them, they tend to tip over). The crisper has a cutout in the center which simply reduces space...if it wasn't there, you could fill the crisper with cans quite nicely. Instead, I had to remove it completely. Not a big deal.

If you raise the top shelf to only about 4" height, it can hold wine bottles (etc.) on their sides. This allows one of the racks to be sized for 12 oz. bottles. If you don't do that, you can have all racks hold cans, and it will hold a lot of cans, maybe 75?

The middle setting (roughly a 5.5 on a 1 to 10) dropped the temperature to 32 degrees in about 24 hours. I'm assuming the lady above me was getting frost because she was turning it down too low. Do yourself a favor and find a thermometer to get a good temperature. You definitely don't want it below 32; in addition to potentially frosting over, it will cost you more money to run it.

Don't forget--when you buy a new fridge, let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it in! If you don't, all the oil in the compartment will not have settled and the refrigeration components can be damaged. I'm wondering if that's why so many people had to return their first purchase and exchange it for another (this is a common review at the Sam's website).

This is 5 stars based on the price I paid.

WE bought this fridge from Sams Club about a month ago. It works well at keeping drinks cold. We did specifically did not want a freezer section so that part was perfect. My issue is that it is a manual defrost, I did not even realize that any company still made a fridge that had to be manually defrosted. That is the only dw frustrating to downside so far, but how frustrating to know that I am going to have to take everything out at some point and defrost it then let it rechill before I can restock it. So every few months bcomes a two day process.

I'm loving this little refrigerator. I use it for bottled drinks which saves a lot of space in my full sized fridge. It cools the drinks evenly and has no flaws that I have seen. The only drawback I'd mention is that it's a little bit ugly. It has a lock on it, which would certainly be perfect for dorm room use, but that makes the overall appearance a bit more like a safe and less like a refrigerator. I would just as soon that it not have the area for cans in the door, since I buy all of my drinks in bottles, but it has tons of space elsewhere, so there is no loss created by having that space specially designed for cans. I also keep some cheese in the fridge, and it works beautifully to keep that cool along with the drinks. I recommend it, and I think that the lock would be a valuable feature to many people out there.

I'm an old PUR under sink filter system user and since they canceled that product line, I needed a replacement system. I chose this and found most everything matched up with the old components of the PUR system. The water dispensing is somewhat slow and degrades over the life of the filter but the water is great. The key to this system is to find a good dispensing faucet as the one that comes with it is cheap chromed plastic. After reading many reviews about the problems with the included faucet, I used a different dispenser. Actually, it was the same one that came with the PUR system and it works well.

This thing was amazingly simple to install. Tubing merely slides into the inlet and outlet sides of the holder. Cartridge is simple to change, water is so clear you almost can't see it. I installed one on my boat for the icemaker and cockpit sink.

the head will fit with the fridge but the filter diameter is smaller than the original Samsung filter. This meant it is harder to put it in (unlike the original Samsung filter, you will need to turn off the water or otherwise the water will spill out)

Installs with no trouble. Always shut the water supply off, even they say you don't have to . We have a small shut off right behind and a little to the left of our Samsung 28 that is very handy .Twist old filter to the left about 1/4 turn then pull out . Install new filter after wiping the front with clean paper towel ,then install by positioning the filter handle top at the 8'o clock position ,push in straight then turn filter handle to the 12'o clock position , you will feel resistance, but you will know when it is in connect position .Turn the shut off back on , bleed the line , it will sputter at first ( about one gal . or so ). Check for leaks with a flash light . Filter tests better than incoming tap water on my water quality tester . Works for us .

We are very happy with our refrigerator. We keep cold drinks in our garage and this was a perfect solution, as it has no freezer. We could not be happier with the product itsself.

However, delivery is absolutely unacceptable and we will not order large appliances from Amazon EVER again. The delivery team was just barely willing to get the box in the door of our garage. (I don't know what would have happened if we needed it in our 2nd floor kitchen.)

I had to man-handle the box into place, cut the layers of the box open and unscrew the attached wooden shipping pallet all by myself.

None of this would have been a big deal, but we did pay $120 for delivery and I was not expecting to have to do this all by myself before we could get cars back into our garage.

The whole experience took a lot of time an hassle to finally get the fridge delivered. Product arrived with a dent in the door and scatches down the one side. I would have sent it back but that would just start the whole shipping nightmare over again. The fridge itself is not very energy efficient and it needs to be set on the highest setting to get stuff cold. For our garage this is fine but I would not buy this product to use inside as the motor is noisy. I guess you get what you pay for and this one is cheap all the way around.

Bought this to replace the filters from Sears. Finding the filters thru Sears probed problematic because of the distance I would have to travel to get one, not to mention that they cost about $40, which to me is way too much for a replaceable water cartridge. My fridge takes the 46-9910 filter and this one looks exactly the same as the one I bought from Sears. I just put it in today so only rated 4 stars because I'm not sure how long it will last. The Sears filter lasted 2 people and an ice maker about 9-10 months.

I bought this from "Pure Water Site.com " thru Amazon and it was packaged very well and arrived very quickly. I will order from them again.

Bought one from the Sears Outlet for less than half the listed price. Yes it did have a few dings; but nothing that would be really noticed. Works great; no problems. Plenty of room and seems to keep the produce fresher longer; quiet and I haven't had any problem with the ice maker. Loads of room and pretty much fits in the same slot as the old Jen-Air that I had. The Led lighting is fantastic; open the doors and its like a near death experience; going into the light.

All in all a pretty cool fridge; really pleased.

I ordered this refridgerator from Amazon vs. Lowes or Home depot because the price was a few hundred dollars less. Well, the fine print states that they only deliver to curbside, as in not into your home! I can understand not installing it, but that left me with a 300lb fridge in my garage, on a palate, with no means of getting it into my home!

The customer service guy was very helpful in trying to find me someone to install it locally, which was very kind of him. (Hence the 3 stars) But I explained to him that they need to make it obvious that this product CANNOT BE BROUGHT INTO YOUR HOME!

So the few hundred dollars I saved was spent on getting someone to bring it in and hook-up.

Not worth the trouble...purchase from your local store....or as the customer service guy asked me, "do you have any friends you could ask..."
