My husband and I took our new Portable Fridge from EdgeStar for a test drive. There was a problem before we got out of the driveway. The DC power plug Wouldn't stay in the DC outlet in our Toyota Sieana Minivan. If I held it in, the fridge would go on, let go and in went off.

I called the Customer Service number at CompactAppliance where we purchased it. He informed me the problem was with my CAR, not the plug! When I told him all other DC plugs have worked (Cell charger etc.) he still insisted there is no problem with the DC plug or cord. I asked for a new cord but he said that it was a $45.00 cord and no way would they send that to me for free. He was rude and condescending. I asked to speak to a supervisor or tech support. He refused and said we could just return the unit. I ended up hanging up on him in anger and frustration. I spliced the cord myself and it works. I like the unit but would NOT recommend buying it from CompactAppliance, if you can help it, because THEY won't help YOU!

It wore out after a year and the warranty. Kept food frozen but I hoped for a long life given the expense. Portable edgestar freezer. would not even give it a two stars.

I've owned this FP630 unit for three months and have only one issue with it. I like the refrigerator/freezer itself very much, and it has worked well on AC current. However, the 12v connection cable is defective.

I ordered the longer 12v cable and it was defective also. In order to use DC current as your power supply you need to cut off the male plug (that plugs into your 12v power source) and replace it with a 10A, 12v DC plug you can find at Radio Shack for $5.99.

It's a PITA but you have no option per my call to the EdgeStar Factory representative. The problem with the 12v cables is that the male plug on the cable is defective in that its retention springs, that hold the plug into the wall or vehicle socket, are too weak the it will very easily move out of the socket enough to break the connection with the wall power source. And, in a motorhome or vehicle, you have constant vibration which adds to the problem of your connection being unreliable.

If you like the unit just purchase a new male plug, as the EdgeStar factory representative will advise you to do, and replace the male plug that comes on the power cable from EdgeStar. EdgeStar will give you the part number of the plug needed and I can vouch for the fact that this procedure will work.

I changed out both of my 12v power cables, the shorter one and the longer one, and they both work fine with the new replacement male plugs.

All and all, it kept all of the contents frozen, however, there are a few issues that one should be aware of before purchasing.

As stated, the operation of the freezer was great, but the carrying side handles are not durable enough to carry the weight of the freezer and its contents.

Also, if planning to use D/C power in a car for a prolonged period of time, be advised that there is a good possibility the power required to run the freezer will blow the 20 amp fuse in the D/C power adaptor.

We live about an hour away from our shopping area and it was hard to buy frozen products and get them home in good shape. This works great and now we can buy anything and not have to race home to get it in the freezer. Also works great for milk and stuff. We plan to use it as a extra refrigerator when we go on vacation this summer by putting a 12 volt plug in the back of the pick-up. Only down side is that this size is pretty heavy empty and when you put stuff in it it is a two person job to move it.

My decision for a compact refrigerator was a double door design. Separate freezer and refrigerator.

I highly recommend this product and this brand (Air Purifiers USA). After ordering the product, I contacted the manufacture (via the email confirmation details), and asked about the color options. White on white vs. Stainless on black. (I read them on the product description page, but was not able to make the selection during checkout). The gentlemen suggested putting the order on hold for 2 hours, he then contacted the warehouse, determined availability, and called me back and I selected Stainless on black. The order arrived in 3 days using regular shipping and the box was very well packaged. In fact, the original packing carton was inserted into a slightly larger carton (with good padding) and the entire packing was first rate.

The refrigerator is a thing of beauty. A full size look in a compact size unit. Stainless front with black box. The top has a convenient molded tray, designed to be used as a 'spill proof' counter top. The topside is large enough to hold coffee maker, cups, etc. and will never scratch.

Time will tell if this unit will perform as expected. My confidence is high and I am a very pleased customer.

I bought a slightly different model 1 year ago. It has worked superbly all the time. So, why do I bother to write the review NOW ? Because of Customer Support. I needed to move the fridge to another location, and re-hung the doors from hinges-on-the-right (the way it came from the factory) to hinges-on-the-left. When I was done, the freezer door was slightly misaligned and did not close properly. I called their 800 number; it is busy much of the time (it is either busy, or a person answers, no waiting), but it was worth retrying. When I got through to a person, HE ACTUALLY WALKED ME THROUGH THE STEPS NEEDED TO FIX THE PROBLEM on the phone; no charge, no hassle (and he spoke flawless American English, as opposed to me). I am so impressed that I felt compelled to write this review. These guys can sell me any of their equipment any time.

After lots of research, I decided to get a fridge with separate freezer and refrigerator components because I read that having a freezer inside the fridge compartment will make either the fridge too cold or too warm depending on how you dial the setting. This fridge got compliments for its looks in my office, and works great! So quiet, I don't notice it's there! The freezer freezes ice cubes and the refrigerator keeps my food cold. The dial was easily set so that the fridge is not warm but not so cold that it freezes the food. I was even impressed that the dial could be set so cold that my food got frozen in the fridge section!

I bought this refrigerator brand new in Feb 2008 due to I wanted a freezer on the bottom and this frig looked real nice for what my family needed but after 4 yrs on January 2, 2012 it just stop blowing cold air, though the motor was running and air was going through, all my food was de-frosted and going bad overnight. After talking with PC Richards (where I bought the item) about the problem, money-wise it was not worth fixing and would be better off buying a new frig.

The frig was nice while it lasted but 4 yrs is a bit too soon to be having any kind of problems, it was under normal use as any refrigerator for a 4 person family home. I didn't call Maytag for a repairman cause I found it would have cost even more than the PC Richards guys.

I normally give deserving products a good review, and Maytag products are well designed and made, and easy to purchase. But in the situation when something goes wrong, never call a Maytag repairman. They are totally incompetent. And Maytag's customer service is unresponsive and all you get is a "We value you as a customer" email. My wife has MS and takes very expensive shots that require refrigeration. Each shot cost more than a refrigerator, and I'm confined to a wheelchair, so I'm not the Mr. Fixit I once was. While we were at the doctors, our Maytag lost it's R-134 charge, on a 4 year old unit. In a hurry, because of the medicine, we called a Maytag Serviceman. When he came, he spent 10 minutes and gave us a repair estimate of $800, near the same price as the cost of a new unit, and threatened us, saying, "If we called someone else, and they charged it while it was leaking, we risk a $25,000 fine." We were looking at weeks for repair and rather than buying several $1200 shots, I opted to buy a new Whirlpool. Freon R-134 has no restrictions and no fines, even if it was used to blow off the sidewalk. Shame to junk a good refrigerator over a simple freon charge. Thanks Maytag. A refrigerator should last longer than four years. I have never heard of one that didn't.

This are absolute crap products. They do not provide any support. Small parts fail before light bulbs. I just wanted a copy of a service manual for removing and testing the light switches--all three of which failed. Maytag would not provide any sort of support. The online users manual and parts list is it. No service information on how to remove a switch without damaging it is available.

I bought this thinking Maytag build a good product, and I am so sorry I bought it.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Buy a product from a company that provides decent customer support.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in July of 2012. It quit working in October. Maytag repairman did not have the replacement compressor that was needed. Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 10 days later. That refrigerator worked until the beginning of May 2013 (7 months later). Home Depot brought us another refrigerator 7 days later. We contacted Maytag after we received the new refrigerator and they were not willing to send us any compensation for aggravation or loss of food. Their customer service to say the least is non-responsive. We will never buy another Maytag refrigerator and we tell everyone we know not buy a Maytag refrigerator. Maytag had to know these refrigerators were defective and they should have recalled them. Home Depot Appliance manager told us there were multiple customers who had issues with these refrigerators.

There are many manufactures of appliances and our advice would be not to buy maytag!

This is a very good replacement filter. The price is much lower than the OEM one for the same performance.

My daughter first noticed that after a few days of having this filter installed out water smelled flowery/citrus and tasted strange. I bought this for my son's dorm, and bought it early enough that I could return it if it lived up to the poor reviews of not working very long (all the while hoping that was not the case because I love the design of this fridge, especially the separate freezer and the fruit /veggie crisper). I followed the directions by leaving it sit up right for at least 24 hours before plugging it in. Initially it worked great. The ice cubes froze and the drinks were cold. Alas' that only lasted for 3-4 weeks before it was completely warm inside. We unplugged itfor another 24 hours, then plugged it back in again, and the freezer worked again (ice cubes froze) for another day, but after that one day, the freezer stopped working again and the fridge never did get cold again after that second attempt. We returned it 2 days shy of 1 month. I'm nervous to try again with the same fridge so we got something different instead.

The product works great. However, not thinking when I read the dimensions, I assumed they would be correct. I did not allow for the motor which takes up half of the bottom storage area. My regular freezer is small so I wanted a little extra freezer space. I chose between the SPT UF-150W and the Haier HUM013EA. The SPT supposedly has a minutely larger volume, but the Haier was about $50 less and apparently more popular. In reality they are probably close to identical. I picked the SPT because there were a lot of complaints about poor packaging of the Haier. The SPT came double-boxed in heavy-duty cardboard with re-enforced corners and styrofoam padding. The freezer was in perfect condition. It works great and is EXTREMELY QUIET when the compresser is running and totally silent when it's not running. It comes with a minature ice tray to monitor how effectively it is freezing. The SPT has a lock on the door, a worthless feature for my needs. As for the Haier, my review title is a little misleading as I can't actually comment on it. However, I do have a Haier small appliance which did not come as well packaged as my freezer. The SPT is currently $183, about $15 less than I paid. In hindsight I would likely go with the SPT again to avoid packaging issues.

This water filter is exactly like the one it replaced. I can't see inside the unit so I just have to trust that it is filtering the water as advertised. There is certainly no chlorine taste to the water after it has passed through this filter.

Bought this to replace the filters from Sears. Finding the filters thru Sears probed problematic because of the distance I would have to travel to get one, not to mention that they cost about $40, which to me is way too much for a replaceable water cartridge. My fridge takes the 46-9910 filter and this one looks exactly the same as the one I bought from Sears. I just put it in today so only rated 4 stars because I'm not sure how long it will last. The Sears filter lasted 2 people and an ice maker about 9-10 months.

I bought this from "Pure Water Site.com " thru Amazon and it was packaged very well and arrived very quickly. I will order from them again.

It's cheap for a reason. While the reversible door option is a plus, the unit overall is not high quality. You will have to turn it all the way on maximum to get your drinks cold, and then they're not super cold. The wire shelves are pretty flimsy as well. Regretful purchase. Spend a little more and get a better unit is my advise.
