  • "The Preserva(TM) Food Care System uses a trio of features to maximize freshness, particularly for fresh produce. 1. Sequential dual evaporator system 2. FreshFlow(TM) Ethylene-absorption technology 3. FreshFlow(TM) Air filter"
  • Sequential dual evaporators ensure independent temperature and humidity control to optimize flavor and texture
  • FreshFlow(TM) Produce Preserver absorbs ethylene gas to delay over-ripening of fresh produce
  • FreshFlow(TM) Air Filter helps to minimize odor transfer inside the refrigerator
  • Temperature-controlled full-width pantry provides separate compartment for meats, deli items, and cheeses

The worst thing about this refrigerator is that it is extremely and annoyingly LOUD. According to the rep they sent out, my fridge noise is "normal," however, I had to move my home office due to the high pitched noise and general noisy running sounds of this unit. It does not seem to bother the men in my house, but many women have commented on it. I have to keep music on in the room to keep it from grating on my nerves. I would NOT recommend this model to anyone and would love to get rid of mine. It is one of the worst purchases I have ever made.

Water Sentinel WSW-2 Replacement Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter, 4-Pack

Water Sentinel WSW-2 Replacement Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter, 4-PackDescription leads one to believe these are higher-end filters and they're not. These are about $22.50 ea when you buy the 4. You can buy a single one here on Amazon at $16.35. They're sub-par and do not meet standard 53 which is the reduction of Lead, Mercury, Benzene, p-dichlorobenzene,Toxaphene and Carbofuran.

What does tested for standard 42 and 53 mean anyway? It does not say it passed the test. That's like saying we tested chicken for salmonella and not saying whether any was found.

Really disappointed with Amazon for allowing deceptive vendor marketing. I thought I did not have to be a lawyer buy a water filter: "Whirlpool Refrigerator Filter" is not a "Whirlpool Filter". Yeah, I know my fault but, they should say "Water Sentinel Filter for Whirlpool refrigerator" if they want my business. I guess they're counting on people not having enough time to read the lat detail and spend two hours before ordering a water filter and then, not sending the items back cause it takes even more time. Well, these are going back and Amazon will be getting less of my money and business going forward.

This is health related item but I guess the mighty dollar comes first.

I'm a big Amazon fan but lately, some of the vendors they have are making me think twice before I blindly order from Amazon with a few clicks on my cell phone like I normally do. Losing faith in Amazon fast.

Got tired of spending $40 for 1 filter every 6 months, so I bought this 4-pack for less than $100. Will definitely come back in 2 years to order more. Great deal!!

Buy Water Sentinel WSW-2 Replacement Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter, 4-Pack Now

This is the best price (w/ shipping) I found on Whirlpool replacement fridge filters. The shipping was quick and the filters were well packed. They sent only 2 filters initially due to an error, but when I contacted the seller, she was quick to admit the error and act on it. The rest of the order came faster then I anticipated. I hope to come back for more in 2 years.

Great price. Shipping was fast. Install was a breeze. Water is as goos as the many poland springs cases I was buying every month. Good investment I think.

Want Water Sentinel WSW-2 Replacement Refrigerator Ice and Water Filter, 4-Pack Discount?

Since the WSW-2 is the same as WSW-1 (NSF Standard 42) it is not an equivalent replacement for The factory original Whirlpool Filter (4396510) which is NSF Standard 53 for the reduction of cysts, lead, mercury and other chemicals.

SGF-DSA21 Refrigerator Filter (DA29-00012A Compatible)

SGF-DSA21 Refrigerator FilterAttention readers who want a filter that delivers pure, clean, uncontaminated water... Straight from the box: "This filter is not intended to purify water."

With no filter in place, the water dispenser on your refrigerator can't operate because there's a big gap between the incoming water line and the water dispenser on your fridge door. This will solve that problem. It bridges the gap between the water line coming into your fridge and the water dispenser on your fridge door. That's all I can say for it though. As a filter, it's worthless at least the manufacturer admits that in the label warning quoted above, straight from the box the filter comes in!

Yay, this filter is labeled as a "Green" product. Ecologically friendly plastic, huh? Who's zooming who, folks? I'd rather just hug a tree than drink industrially polluted water, and that's what flouridated water is. There is no process of burning to create carbon for use in this filter. But the trade-off is that while we prevent a small amount of pollution from the process of burning to create carbon for these filters, we are allowing our bodies to be polluted to a greater extent when we use them instead of carbon based filters. That trade-off isn't worth it to me.

The manufacturer claims that these filters "reduce" levels of chlorine taste and odor, cysts, and several other chemicals, but states proudly that it leaves a "healthy level of flouride" in your water. Regardless of which side of the flouridation debate you find yourself on, you can not deny that it is a means of mass medication, even according to the arguments made by those who support flouridation, and in many many cases, it is without consent of the consumer (ie yours truly). If I'm going to be medicated, I want it to be by a licensed dentist or physician, not by my city's water department. Additionally, it is medication without any means of controlling the dosage each person gets. The more water you drink, the higher your daily dose of flouride. Amazon won't allow a link here, so please do a search and educate yourself about the dangers of and true motives for municipal water flouridation.

Update: IT LEAKS!

I put this filter into my fridge a little over an hour ago, just went in to grab a snack now, and guess what? My fridge is flooded, and the water is rapidly dripping out of the filter housing. I read reviews of other model numbers of this same brand, and my leak isn't a unique experience. The only thing green about this filter is the green the manufacturer is taking out of your pocket for an absolutely worthless piece of junk. Please read the rest of the review as well! end edit -

Peace to all reading.

I bought 2 of these. The first one didn't fit well, took many attempts to get seated and the second didn't fit at all.

Under-Counter All-Refrigerator all

Under-Counter All-Refrigerator all
  • U.L. Listed
  • ETL Sanitary Approved (to NSF-7)
  • All-refrigerator
  • Fully automatic defrost
  • Adjustable thermostat

You can easily buy one of these for under-counter mounting and assume that it will not require breathing space around the top. In fact, this refrigerator requires 5 centimeters (slightly over two inches) clearance above the top to allow the rear coil (yes, rear coil) to breathe. This means that there must be a ventilation gap somewhere around the top. If you're putting it under a counter top that has no gap around the top, back, or sides, you may require that gap over the front of the refrigerator (as you've often seen with cheap hotel refrigerators) -but don't stop now, read on.

There is one possible work-around that you may want to consider. Let's assume that the wall directly behind is not an exterior wall (and is not stuffed with insulation. You can cut a two-inch horizontal slot in the drywall just below the countertop, but above the coil, so that the coil heat can escape into the wall. If you can then vent that wall space between the studs at some equal or higher point, you should be okay. A slot can also be cut to the side and above. The key is that the vent slot must be higher than the coil and the heat must ultimately have a path to rise and escape rather than just building up in the wall. The wider the slot, of course, the better, assuming that the slot leads to vented space.

In summary, my one-star rating has nothing to do with whether this is a good reliable refrigerator. My concern is that this unit costs three times as much as a free-standing model, yet it requires coil ventilation. (I'm sure that Summit would say that this is a commercial model that isn't expected to be trimmed in flush.) I'm hoping that I'll forewarn prospective buyers to plan for ventilation before they buy, not afterward like I did.

Whirlpool W10190961 Icemaker for Refrigerator

Whirlpool W10190961 Icemaker for RefrigeratorFor those of you wondering, this is a real Whirlpool factory certified part. It arrived in a Whirlpool box, and taking the gear cover off reveals the FSP (Factory Specification Part) molded into the plastic. It isn't a Chinese knockoff, which I was worried about, since I also ordered the ice level fill circuit board at the same time and it WASN'T Whirlpool or FSP. Check my other review for that fiasco. In doing more research on these parts, the original Whirlpool or factory replacement icemaker will have a dark gray or greenish ice mold (where the water fills and ice forms). This does have that. The knockoffs will have a white mold instead.

At any rate, I haven't installed this yet, I want to wait to also install the correct ice level circuit board at the same time. Will update my review upon install and confirming this works. But for now, just being a real Whirlpool part earns it five stars.

Update 4/22/13: Installed this today, and within a minute it cycled correctly, making ice cubes later. I now have the "Acceler-ice" function activated to make a full bin of ice as quickly as possible.

Maytag MSD2572VEB 25.2 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator - Black

Maytag MSD2572VEB 25.2 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator - BlackThis refrigerator was purchased on 11/13/2011. The unit is quiet and energy efficient but when crushing ice -forget about it, it's noisy as hell aside from the fact that the ice falls all over the place as the ice chute dispenser is too wide for any cup or water glass, you have to place your index finger over the chute to keep the ice chips from falling to the ground. Oh...which reminds me, the ice crusher is no longer working after 4 months only dispenses full cubes, having it serviced this week. Button selector from the panel is clunky and "toy-ish" something I'd expect from my daughter's easy back oven....lol Drawers are also not easy to slide in and out, not smooth gliding at all.... would I purchase again? Probably not, but for $799 for a side-by-side, what would you expect? But from Maytag, I expected much better.

Samsung DA29-00003 NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, Certified Green, Made in North America

Samsung DA29-00003 NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, Certified Green, Made in North America 3 PackI have had to replace my Samsung filters every 3 months. This has become very costly. I came across this alternative, and, based on the reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. Plus, it came with a guarantee. Initially, as with any filter, you have to prime it first by running 2-3 gallons of water through it. Which I did. The water tasted good -equally as good as with the Samsung filter. The instructions say, however, that if the water dispenser isn't used for 4 days, you may have to repeat that process. Wrong. It is more like very 2-4 hours! If not, the water tastes like it is coming from a dirty hose. Of course, I could run another gallon of water through it every few hours, which I have done and the water tasted fine again, but who wants to do that every time they want a drink of water? Plus, the money I saved on the filter would be going toward my monthly water bill! No thanks. So much for water conservation. I'd be better off getting water from my faucet. I will be returning these filters.
