My wife and I bought this refrigerator based on past ownership of a KitchenAid refrigerator that we thoroughly enjoyed and as a result we had high expectations of satisfaction for this refrigerator. We happened to purchase ours from Sears. So far, this purchase and our choice of vendor have been a huge mistake. I will stick to our purchase of a KitchenAid product and leave Sears out of this review as that is a self sustaining issue not relevent to the refrigerator.

The refrigerator alone has worked well except the in-door ice maker has a poor seal between the door and the top of the refrigerator which makes for constant condensation and shrunken ice cubes if not used multiple times a day in order to constantly refill the ice bin. A small gripe, but over time it becomes more relevent, especially when we compare it to our previous product and combined with the problem we experienced with the freezer drawer.

The ice and water dispensers are easy to see, but they are a bit difficult to get to work "as advertised." You have to hunt for the "sweet spot" that activates the dispenser. Not a major problem, but not nice if using a foam or other soft cup which can cause liquid to spill if you are topping off the cup with ice to keep your beverage cold. The measured water fill feature is great; all you have to do is determine how many ounces you want, set your glass down, push a buttonn and wait. Very easy and pleasey, but if you use the manual feature, it is just as hard to get to the "sweet spot" on the water dispenser as it is on the ice dispenser. We could have lived with these relatively glitches which pale in comparison (for us at any rate) with the problem we have encountered with the freezer drawer, but when combined with the freezer problem is simply unacceptable. Why should we settle for less than our complete satisfaction? We should not, and that is why this is written, to help others avoid the same problems we encountered.

The freezer drawer glides easily and quietly when sitting on display and nothig is in the freezer baskets. Once the unit is plugged in and food is placed in the drawer, the drawer becomes difficult to pull/push and the track for the glides make a loud grinding noise. Based on the cost of this refrigerator, we were quite unhappy. We called Sears to seek some resolution and that became a nightmare all of it's own, and I ultimately reached someone in Sears Solutions who offered to exchange our original unit for of the same model. After a brief moment of reflection, we agreed to to an exchange for another refrigerator of the same make and model, thinking that things would be different. Wrong.

When the second unit arrived, and was loaded with food, the same problem/compalint surfaced immediately upon loading the freezer, and it was even louder and more difficult to open and close than the original. After the second refrigerator arrived and the problem immediately recurred upon loading the freezer drawer, I called KitchenAid to see if they were aware of the problem I experienced with the freezer drawer. The person I spoke with said there was no problem that the company was aware of, and netted an offer to send someone out to try and resolve the problem in a timely manner. A repairman from Field's Appliance Repair responded to the house and said that ours was the worst sounding unit he had been called out to work on. After the drawer was removed and the runners and bearings were examined, it was found that there are ball bearings along the length of the runner with a small amount of a sticky looking lubricant, with nylyon wheels inside the track. The ultimate recommendation we got was to use a spray lube on the track. Not what we wanted to hear, but some other lube was put in the track which seemed to alleviate the problem for all of 24-48 hours. The repairman opined that the lube may have been insufficient to allow the unit to operate quietly. This has been a very disappointing purchase, and we will be returning the unit to Sears and will go with another brand from another vendor.

My wife and I are grossly disappointed in this product and cannot in good conscience recommend this product for purchase unless or until there is a redesign of the glider bearings and track asssembly. I want it understood that my wife and I realize that there is no such thing as an absolutely noiseless refrigerator drawer, but we do not feel that we should have to resign ourselves to accepting a loud and hard to pull freezer drawer, no matter what the price point on a new unit. As the price point on a refrigerator increases, the expectations for satisfaction rise as does the increased cost. Sorry to say that at this point, this product as a whole, is a dud. If you only want to use the refrigerator and don't mind fincky dispensers for ice and water this is an acceptable product, otherwise it is not an acceptable product. Hopefully KitchenAid will go back to the drawing board and resolve the issues.

1.7 Cubic-ft Refrigerator/Freezer (Black) - HAIER

THIS IS AN AMAZING MINI FRIDGE. I OWNED A BLACK AND DECKER BEFORE AND IT GOT ITEMS KIND OF COOL, BUT THIS MINI FRIDGE ACTUALLY FREEZES ICE OR WHATEVER YOU PUT IN THE FREEZER PART AS GOOD AS A LARGER UNIT WOULD. THE OTHER PARTS OF THE REFRIGERATOR GET EXTREMELY COLD. THE THERMOSTAT GOES ALL THE WAY TO 7 WHICH IS GREAT TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE OF WHAT YOU HAVE. I KEEP PROTEIN SHAKES, WATER, CRANBERRY JUICE AND SANDWICHES IN MINE AT WORK. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS BRAND, BUT THE PRICE WAS RIGHT AFTER DOING COMPARISONS ON DIFFERENT SITES. THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BEST THEIR IS AND YOU GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH FOR SURE!!

Haier HC125FVS - 125-Can Beverage Center, Black

I am extremely disappointed in this refrigerator/beverage center, HC125FVS. I purchased it at a local "big-name" store. Firstly, the drinks on the top shelf never got really cold, and the temperatures varied greatly from one shelf to the next. I have 4 thermometers, and this is what the temperature degree results were at for the 7th (coldest setting) 6th setting (2nd coldest):

Top: 45-55

3rd: 40-45

2nd: 35-40

small bottom shelf: 30-35

There was an ongoing variance of 5 degrees per shelf. Also keep in mind that the average refrigerator should be at 35-40 degrees MAX.

I called Haier and the agent told me that 125 cans is the maximum and they do not recommend filling the center to capacity to allow the air to flow freely. (Then why advertise it as a 125-can center???) I had it only about 2/3 full of cans anyway, and there is no fan in the unit to circulate the air, so how can the air flow freely? No wonder there is such a temperature variance. (Go figure.) I decided to hold onto it for a little while longer to see if I did get any satisfaction out of it. (The only thing that made me really happy was that it freed up a lot of precious space in my main refrigerator.) So, I held onto it for a few more weeks.

The straw that broke the camel's back is that it is also advertised on the box to have auto-defrost. After I had it for about 2 months, it developed a thick layer of frost, and it never auto-defrosted. The manual made no mention of the auto-defrost and how it is supposed to work. So, I called Haier America and asked why it had not defrosted yet. I spoke with two different agents and both told me that they did not see auto-defrost as one of the options on this refrigerator. (Go figure, again.)

Oh, one more thing. This center was constantly running. Although it has been a hot summer, my electric bills have never been above $190 in all the years that I have lived in this house. I was shocked when my electric bill went from $170 one month to $260 the next month after the first use of this center. My next electric bill should be coming soon, and I am bracing myself. Although I cannot say 100% sure that this center contributed greatly to the big jump in my bill, but when I turned it off, my electric meter's wheel slowed down quite a bit.

It is going back to the store this weekend. Thank goodness I can return it after 2 months to my local store...

P.S. I just ordered a Danby Designer 4.4 Cu ft compact refrigerator that it is Energy Star rated. I have seen great feedback (4.63 stars out of 5)on the Danby from over 40 reviews, and I have my fingers crossed that it works better. It's also 0.4 cu ft bigger than the Haier...

UPDATE: After I stopped using this beverage center, my electric bill went back down to normal levels on my October 2008 bill. I got the Danby, and I am so much happier with the Danby. Its auto-defrost works and it is energy efficient, which is the opposite of this Haier.

UPDATE 7/9/09: It's the following summer, and I still love the Danby. My electric bills are still at their usual levels of $170-$190. Therefore, I am convinced the Haier is the reason for the jump in my bill last year. As I previously mentioned, the Haier was running constantly.

I shopped for several different brands and models of beverage centers in this price range and initially bought a Whirpool model from Lowe's. I was very disappointed in the uneven cooling as the unit had the thermostat sensor mounted on the bottom side. This wasn't acceptable and certainly seems a design flaw in the Whirpool.Therefore, the bottom would cool to around 42, but the top was 55 degrees! Be careful as it seems that some of these units are actually better intended for wine coolers than canned drinks since they don't cool as much as a refrigerator. All that seems to differ in some of those units is the type of racks for cans or wine bottles. I returned the Whirpool and got the Haier at Sams Club and can't believe the difference. It's made like a regular compact refrigerator but with more interior space. The thermostat is mechanical rather than digital so it is seems much better. Also the sensor is mounted in the top where it should be. The unit is cooling great and staying around 34-40 degrees fully loaded with it set on 6. The coolest setting is 7. At that temperature, it is safe to use as an extra refrigerator if you don't have many cans. The shelving is also handy with two that have flip tops to allow taller bottle placement. I couldn't be happier with this center. Please note the description below doesn't seem accurate and may be referring to a wine cooler or smaller beverage center. The unit weighs around 77 pounds.

I have this Haier HC125FVS for less than five years old. It stop working, The unit makes click noise but the compressor does not start and its very hot. I think the compressor is bad. So I called customer service for the warranty service, but they will not come and check the compressor which has five years warranty. They want me to call Appliance repair company and pay for the opinion that the compressor is bad, than they will send the compressor and I have to pay for the compressor installation, which will be more than the actual cost of buying new unit. So, technically this company warranty of the compressor for five years is useless. I will never buy any product made by this Haier company.

We use this beverage center for displaying/selling soda at our business. Its small enough to sit on the counter at eye level and holds a ton of soda! Keeps them cold too! Make sure to read the instructions regarding temp levels and you should be happy with its cooling capabilities.

The first beverage center we received was broken. The drip tray was broken along with the inside plastic that held the racks, the door was off, and the side was smashed in. Amazon shipped us another one and this was fine except for a small dent on the side, but after seeing the delivery man dragging it down my front steps I understand why. Otherwise we have enjoyed having this machine stocked and keeping drinks cold. You cannot turn it all the way up because it freezes the cans but keeping it on the normal "5" setting keeps the drinks cold enough. I would recommend if you can find this item locally go and pick it up yourself to avoid the delivery man dragging it down the steps.

Hi, I own two of these. One for my rental property and the other for my house. I bought the first one 3-4 years ago for the rental apartment and knock on wood, haven't had problems with it yet. It was the only one I could find small enough for the property, which is a studio apartment. So, I bought one to use in my house. I'm an avid cook so the refrigerator always is full of ingredients. Even as my only fridge, I find its size adequate for me a single person. This has been a very good value for its style and quality.

I've had this fridge for 3 years and I LOVE it!!

This one replaced a 22 cubic foot, french door, $3k fridge that broke just out of warranty.

I have an open floor plan and when people enter my living space, the fridge is highly visible. This fridge is good lookin' it's tall and slim, hey sexy!

My fridge is filled mostly with fresh food and this fridge holds it all beautifully.

Those complaining about the egg basket only holding 8 eggs, dude, think about it you just put the remaining four on top of the eight that are in there! I've put 16 eggs in that container. NONE have ever fallen out.

I'm not crazy about the titanium finish but it's not the worst thing in the world and it wraps around instead of it just being on the front.

There are two things I don't like about this fridge:

1) The plug is not flat but sticks out so you can't push it back

2) The deli tray is plastic and flimsy I'm sure it's going to break

Can you imagine only having two things you don't like about a fridge that is such a money saver?!

Another positive is that with a small fridge is that not much is wasted because you can keep track of everything. With all fridges, I highly recommend using a lazy susan for your condiments makes things super easy.

I often have dinner parties for up to 8 people and I prepare a lot of big amounts homemade food for family gatherings/holidays and with a little forethought and Jenga-like storage, it works great!

Love that the shelves are glass (wish that the produce drawers were), holds temperature well, it's VERY well thought out, there are three good size freezer drawers plus a small quick freeze drawer that is great for ice cubes and cold packs.

Came out of the box with a damaged, dinged up door, not from shipping but from poor quality control. LG claims cosmetic issues not covered by warranty, even when it comes out of the box like that. Thankfully, this product was eligible for an exchange. Also note, LG does not place the warranty/serial number sticker on the back of the fridge, they place it in FULL VIEW on the side of it. If the sides of the fridge are visible in your kitchen, you will have a big, ugly, non removable sticker in full view... not aesthetically pleasing at all. LG support was no help on this issue at all either and had no response for such a bone headed placement. Interior is also poorly, cheaply designed. LG Customer Support in general gets a total failing grade of F.

We have been using this freezer for about 1-1/2 years. It works great. We carry it in a storage compartment on our travel trailer, wired to both 110AC and 12 volt DC. It keeps everything solidly frozen, even in 90+ F weather. The thermometer almost always says exactly 0 degrees. When not traveling we have used it for extra refrigerator space, and in the car to keep things cold while grocery shopping. It's expensive, but very well made. I recommend it to others.

Once I decided to switch from thermoelectric inefficient coolers to a professional refrigeration system I found many sizes and designs. The heart of all the systems is the Danfoss compressor which is simply a 12 (and often 24V optional) compressor using environmentally friendly R134 coolant just like a home fridge would. These units all have strong cooling and even freezing capabilities like a home freezer would.

What I found is the Engel 35 is smaller and higher priced than the Portable refrigerator & freezer 12/24 V or 110 V which is slightly larger and around $200 cheaper. Both units can easily swallow 4 12 packs of drinks with room left over and both use the same refrigeration system making them friendly on your car / truck / boat's electrical system. It explains why these cost more and can actually cool down 40+ cans from room temp rather than requiring you to pre-freeze any items going into the cooler such as the thermoelectric units do.

I almost never review a product, but I couldn't resist when I realized that Amazon carried these refrigerators. Like others, I purchased this after getting fed up with thermoelectric coolers that either didn't keep food cold or froze it.

PROS: Excellent quality!!! Purchased mine in 2005 and have had no maintenance issues.

Not Picky about ventilation mine sits in the closet of my Peterbilt.

Metal exterior It's sturdy enough for me to use it as a step stool.

Good Capacity I'm gone 4 day at a time and it holds all the food and water i need

Great power management Can leave it on while my truck sets for 3 or 4 day without killing the batteries

CONS: Weight appx. 50 lbs. Only a problem if you need to move it often, but the durability is worth it.

Price Fairly pricey, but it has paid for itself many times over!

While I love having an all-refrigerator the appearance on delivery wasn't what I expected. Having nothing to do with the performance of the appliance there are dents all along both sides along the bottom and the butter keeper door is broken upon delivery. There were no indications of damage on the box it came in so I believe the damange happened before it was shipped. I was under the impression that I would be receiving a NEW appliance for the price I paid for it NOT a scratch and dent item!! All in all it does work beautifully and the sides where the dents are are hidden. I can do without the butter keeper cover.

Whirlpool 4387913 Overload for Refrigerator

It came within 4 days took it out of the package and it fit perfectly. Came with the overload and the relay which most places didn't give you both. Unbelievable price. Other places wanted 40$ or more just for the overload. buy it you won't be dissapointed.

I looked up the part on various sites, using the part # on the parts lists. When it arrived, It had both the overload, and the start relay. The refrig I have seems to be a little different. The Spade Connector that ataches to the power cable was only about 1/8" wide, and the one that came with the kit was about 1/4" wide. I was able to file it down, and it seems to work as I am writing this. I ordered a capacitator also, but I saw no way to use the cap if I used the start relay. I looked back, and all websites seem to look like the wider spade. So far, I am happy with the quality.

When our 18-year-old Whirlpool quit, thanks in part to lack of condenser cleaning on my part, We were afraid the compressor was gone. I drove an hour for a non-OEM starter relay that didn't work, just to save time or so I thought. Then I ordered the right parts through Amazon and had the fridge back up and running in about fifteen minutes, once I actually got around to putting the parts in. Be warned, there are no directions that come with the parts, but I had already researched that, and it could hardly have been easier. Take the (brown) relay off your fridge, and if it rattles, it's toast! Buy these replacement parts, take off the back panel, snap in the new parts, clean the condenser coils, and bingo!

I purchased this model from . The lower zone does not maintain temperature very well, it runs from 55 to 66 degrees. The unit is in a room with a constant comfortable room temperature of about 78 degrees. The cooler is not opened more than once a week, if that. I check the temperature and it varies by eleven degrees for no apparent reason. I probably will return it. Not recommended.

Samsung DA29-00003 NSF Certified Refrigerator Water Filter, Certified Green, Made in North America

I have had to replace my Samsung filters every 3 months. This has become very costly. I came across this alternative, and, based on the reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. Plus, it came with a guarantee. Initially, as with any filter, you have to prime it first by running 2-3 gallons of water through it. Which I did. The water tasted good -equally as good as with the Samsung filter. The instructions say, however, that if the water dispenser isn't used for 4 days, you may have to repeat that process. Wrong. It is more like very 2-4 hours! If not, the water tastes like it is coming from a dirty hose. Of course, I could run another gallon of water through it every few hours, which I have done and the water tasted fine again, but who wants to do that every time they want a drink of water? Plus, the money I saved on the filter would be going toward my monthly water bill! No thanks. So much for water conservation. I'd be better off getting water from my faucet. I will be returning these filters.
