Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit

Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker KitIf you buy this part, make sure you give it 24 hours to work. I was expecting it to start working right away as soon as I installed it. I was very frustrated when I didn't see the dial start to spin when installed. I actually took the part out and sent it back thinking it was defective. Well it turns out the part has an internal thermostat that has to get cold to the right temperature in order to kick the icemaker on. They failed to leave out this very important bit of information. The common lay person would never know this. So don't send it back, give it 24hrs to work!

When installing this replacement icemaker be sure to use a small level. If the icemaker is not level the water will overflow and make a mess. Yes I made the mistake so you wont!! The on/off arm is smaller and shaped differently than shown in the picture so I used the old on/off arm. The kit came with several different wire harnesses(4)and two tubes. I didn't need to replace the water tube. All in all this was easy to install and the best price that I found. The manufacture name on the box is Supco (Sealed Unit Parts Co. Inc.). Part name on box is RIM500 Modular icemaker service kit. Replaces: Whirpool 4317943, 978556, Maytag and subzero.

DO NOT buy this item, as the unit you will recieve is not the same as the one pictured, or described. Unit came without shutoff arm, wiring harnesses, installation hardware or instrcutions. Called seller to inquire and was told amazon made a mistake and has the wrong picture displayed. According to the CSR, this has happened to several other people as well. But guess what, for a mere extra $20 they offered to sell me one that looks just like the picture. This is an absolute bait and switch, false advertising, etc...Seller also would not authorize a return or refund. Buy at your own risk! Part number that arrived is W10190965, mfr is FSP. Again, not what was listed in the description....

The product was exactly what we needed. There was one little part missing, but we had it on our original unit. It is perfect for a replacement and about half price of a parts store. The parts guy actually told me how to check for it online. Glad I did!

This is a very good replacement for the ice maker on my Whirlpool fridge. It's not an exact replacement, but it's definitely comparable. To me, "very good" means I didn't have to hack around to make it fit or function. The quality is just OK though.

___________________

Pros:

* Makes ice!

* Pretty simple to install

* Plastic ice tray instead of the plastic coated metal tray of the OEM. (Plastic coating peeled off and corroded the metal tray and made weird ice. It's a good thing I'm done making babies, because it shed some pretty funky stuff into the ice!)

* Good assortment of wiring harnesses and hardware included.

___________________

Cons:

* The instructions were pretty slim and didn't even really apply to this model.

* Not as well constructed as the original unit. Definitely more flimsy.

* Makes ice pretty slowly. Our old ice maker would fill the bin in a day--even under daily use. This one hasn't filled it yet!

* Drops the cubes straight down and doesn't hit the bin every time.

Nostalgia Electrics RMO-400RED Retro Series .9 CF Microwave Oven, Red

Nostalgia Electrics RMO-400RED Retro Series .9 CF Microwave Oven, RedI very much wanted to enjoy this microwave due to its appearance. Looked darling in my kitchen! Alas, it does not function past three minutes. That's right. Try to cook a microwave meal in it for more than three minutes and poof it mysteriously shuts itself off and will not start again for several minutes. Trying to fool it by cooking for 2 minutes, followed by another 2 minutes does not work, either.

Perhaps I just got a lemon (it is red, though) and it shuts itself off because it was poorly made. Not going to take a chance with another one, though. I returned it just in the nick of time and will look for a better brand now.

Horrible product. I orginially bought it because I thought it would be super cute in my kitchen and thought, "It's just a microwave of course it's going to work". No. Day one we heated a plate of leftovers and the top of the microwave got so hot you couldn't even touch it. After two minutes it automatically shut down completely. We unplugged it, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in...nothing. Day two, we used it to warm my tea up (2 minutes) and it shut down after a minute into it. Then it never worked again. It's being returned back as we speak.

There is something poorly made about the electronics in this microwave. Looks great, worked great for the first week.

Suddenly (and JUST after I finished breaking down the box it came in, no less) it stopped working. The only function I can actually do is microwave... the four buttons under the dial don't work anymore (clock, express, stop/cancel and power level). So I can still heat food up, but how much do you want to bet that if after a week this thing stops working to this extent... I'm not in for a good run?

I hear amazon returns are easy, here's hoping. But I have no car or anything, and need to get a box to ship somehow. And maybe even need to get somewhere to ship it?

Yeah, in other words, it's hugely disappointing to me that this microwave could not be relied on. I am in for another couple weeks without a nuker.

Update: It worked again when I left it unplugged for a while, in my case, overnight. But I am wary now... it seems there must be something in its electronics that is iffy. So I will say three stars, in that it works great while it works, but I shall be forever unsure whether it will.

And lo: as I probably should have expected, within a day of it working again, it again doesn't work. Don't buy this POS.

Five month Update: I am lazy, so I've found myself not returning it, just using it with only the dial. It works as a microwave, but I can't use any of the button functionality, all I can do is nuke things on standard power for a given time. So, the rating will remain the same, but on the humanitarian side, if you are interested in my plight, I've managed to make it work acceptably. Choose more wisely than I did!

I saw this red and chrome microwave at a store and fell in love, but the box was damaged and it was the last one left. I came home and checked on Amazon and, of course, found it for much less and with free shipping. I bought on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday morning. That is fantastic! I read a lot of reviews on the other colors, and some complained that it was noisy. It was loud at first, but now after a week it seems fine. I'm not sure if I'm used to it now or if it has settled down. I tend to think it is actually not as loud now. Also, there was a metallic piece of chipboard on the right side of the interior. I was not sure if it was packing material or not, and I popped it out and heated something up and my microwave-safe plate cracked. I put the rectangular piece back in and have not had that problem again. So, only remove the tape on the outside of the door and untie the cables in the back when you are setting up. I wish they made a similar model vented for under the cabinet/above the stove. But this one takes up less precious counter space than my previous GE microwave, and I really like the retro styling. Big Chill is coming out with one for $595, which makes this quite a bargain.

This is a piece of crap! 2 seconds into the 1st cup of coffee warming, severe acrid smell of burned electric motor & noisy as HELL..

I wouldn't trust drinking or eating anything this has heated up. Should have listened to the previous reviews that said the same thing and not the enthusiastic ones.

This is a "retro-vive-polished" turd, but it's still a turd. Can't even find the country of manufacture on the box.

Too bad, they could have done something really cool, instead went for the cheap visual effect.

I know Amazon sells hundreds on thousands of items and can't check them all, but this... So sorry I bought it, sending it back right away...

Frigidaire 241681903 Ice Actuator for Refrigerator

Frigidaire 241681903 Ice Actuator for RefrigeratorNot much to review about this other than that it's a direct replacement for the original ice actuator which failed on my fridge. Apparently these parts fail quite often due to the small plastic prongs which the actuator pivots on. This one is no different, but it was an exact fit and has held up well so far, after two months of heavy use.

worked fine. I could have used a little more written instructions or illustrations as to how to replace. New or near new quality.

Buy Frigidaire 241681903 Ice Actuator for Refrigerator Now

So my ice acuator broke during a holiday party, probably from a little overuse. I wasn't sure what the problem was at first but after researching and figuring out the problem was a broken piece on the ice acuator I was at ease that I didn't have to replace the motor or anything major. After taking off the cover to the ice and water dispenser I saw that a small plastic piece that was a quarter inch in length was the problem. It had broken off and was not making the proper contact when a cup would be pressed against the acuator to dispense the ice. The fix was a quick 10-15 minutes after I had received my part. Works perfect now.

GE Profile : PDSS0MFYLSS 20.3 cu.ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Stainless Steel

  • GE - PDSS0MFYLSS

We bought this GE Profile bottom freezer fridge from PC Richards several months ago because of an emergency: our old bottom freezer kitchen aid finally died after 18 years of flawless service. I should have looked more carefully but the shiny compartments -there are lots and lots of compartments -overwhelmed me. I should have particularly paid closer attention to the freezer compartment. With the installed ice maker, the layout of the freezer makes for a tiny, tiny space difficult to manage. In fact, all those shelves and drawers and compartments, while looking hyper-efficient, really make storing food problematic and difficult -much, much more so that the old Kitchen Aid is replaced. On the door, the way the flip-open compartments are aligned takes away useful stroage space, and makes it difficult to store taller items. It is also surprisingly noisy when the compressor kicks in. On the positive side, it does keep temperatures correctly both in the freezer and fridge areas, the interior lighting scheme is nice, and the door alarm has turned out to be a useful feature. But if you're thinking of a GE profile, just be careful when assessing its useful storage space, as opposed to its gross cubic footage.

Skybar WP0550 ONE 1-Chamber Wine Preservation System

Skybar WP0550 ONE 1-Chamber Wine Preservation SystemFor a unit that is otherwise so well-designed, well thought-out, and well-executed, it is inconceivable to me that the team of executives bringing it to market would allow it to be done with such an OUTRAGEOUSLY NOISY single 80mm fan cooling the heatsink in the back of the unit. It is as loud as one of those handheld vacuum units most of us buy to clean up small messes in our homes and I'm not exaggerating. Any time I enter the kitchen or the living room adjacent, or when I first come home and open the door, I am FLOORED by how loud this thing is. This unfortunate and ridiculous construction flaw makes it unacceptable for use in most people's homes, unless they are deaf or hosting parties with loud music to drown it out. Or perhaps, as the 2nd reviewer stated below, have it in a side room.

What I am about to write cannot be condoned by either Amazon or the manufacturer, and we must of course agree to hold them harmless (and me too, for that matter): if, like me, you want to have the functions that this unit provides but find a workaround for the tornado blower fan ----AND PROVIDED YOU'RE WILLING TO KISS YOUR WARRANTY GOOD-BYE ----then do what I did today: unplug it, remove the rear case panel, remove the fan, cut its wires, and attach your own purchased, third-party, aftermarket 80mm fan that is much quieter. I personally installed a Noctua NF-R8, which is nearly silent bliss. Of course, it moves less air, and it takes a long time for the Skybar now to cool a bottle down to the ordered temperature, and I'm sure what I did will shorten the unit's useful life ----but now I can live with it without wanting to yell and knock it off the counter.

Otherwise, just don't buy it. Wait until they make one with three 120mm silent fans instead, or something like that.

I was trying to explain this product to my 77 year old mother over the phone. I told her that if someone opened some wine and didn't finish it this thing would keep it cold and ready to drink for days. She responded by saying 'Why don't they just put the box back in the fridge?" Obviously, the Skybar is not for her (plus, I'm pretty sure that she was pulling my leg.) If you don't get why someone would spend this much on what is basically a one-bottle refrigerator, then you probably don't need this either. However, if you take wine so seriously that your favorite vintage costs more per bottle than your first car did, then I don't need to explain it to you.

You don't have to be rich to be an oenophile (though it helps.) I had a wine cellar in the past and I had it filled with relativity modestly prices wines. No '45 Chateau Mouton Rothschild or '78 Montrachet in my cellar. Instead I had mostly domestic wines that I had either collected on my travels or had purchased based on recommendations from my favorite local wine merchant. Most of them were in the 30-100 dollar price range when I purchased them and almost all of my bottles needed to be aged for quite a few years before they reached their prime. At that point they were usually worth quite a bit more on the open market than I had spent on them, but to me they were priceless. I had invested not only money but time, patience, and my ever growing expectations. When the time finally came to enjoy a bottle the real question was, how do I do this? Drink it by myself, invite a couple of fellow wine enthusiasts over, break it out at a dinner party? I tried all of there strategies with mixed results. Now with the Skybar One, I have the answer.

First, how well does it work? This is subjective but I wanted to get more than just my opinion on the Skybar so I invited over two friends with similar tastes as mine to check it out. One friend was kind enough to donate a bottle of 2007 Opus One. We opened it and each had a small (3oz.) glass of this wonderful wine. Although we all agreed that it could benefit from a little more aging, it was incredible. Putting a bottle into the Skybar ONE for the first time was more than a little comical. Once we got it figured out, we set the correct temperature, closed it up and just looked at it. For a long time. No one wanted to leave. One week later we gathered again to sample the wine. I was really impressed, to me it tasted the same as when it was first opened, maybe even a little better. One friend said that he noticed just a little oxidation but the general consensus was that the Sky ONE did what it claimed to do. If I had this ten years or fifteen years ago, well... at least I am very glad to have it now. The noise was not a problem for me and it really looks cool. I thought that I would like the bigger, 3 bottle model, but this one takes up enough space as it is. All-in-all, this is a great product.

Buy Skybar WP0550 ONE 1-Chamber Wine Preservation System Now

I received the Skybar One single bottle wine dispenser for Christmas, and after six weeks of use I am extremely happy with it. First, I have not had any issues with the unit being too noisy. I have it sitting on a sidebar, just off the kitchen. People see it and pass it often in the house (usually to stop and refresh their glass!) and nobody has complained about the unit being noisy. It does have some fan noise, because it's a refrigerator after all, but unless I had it next to my bed (unlikely my wife would allow this) the noise is completely acceptable.

The operation is very straightforward. You select your wine type, or you can manually set the temperature. The dispenser attaches to the neck of the bottle. Not all bottle sizes will fit, but I have found that 95% do. It doesn't take long to figure out which oversized bottles are too tall for the machine. Once the bottle is inserted into the machine you close the door and the air is pumped out, preserving the wine. Dispensing is very quick, and people enjoy the experience. In my testing I have found that most wines will last 5-7 days before showing any signs of turning sour. White wines will do better on average.

When changing bottles I run the dispenser under the tap and also allow a bottle of clean, warm water to run through the system. I have not noticed any "cross contamination" or unusual taste in the wine. Definitely no "plastic" taste some have talked about.

The LED lights do a nice job of showing off the label, and all my guests have been impressed with the unit. Hopefully it will continue to operate for many years to come with no issues.

This is a great machine for home use. Chilling a bottle of wine does not take long at all. One should be prepared for the semi-loud noise it makes when it breaks the vacuum seal and when resealing. The noise is tolerable and short lived. Overall I am very pleased with mine. It is also quiet impressive to guests.

Want Skybar WP0550 ONE 1-Chamber Wine Preservation System Discount?

I just got this from a retailer who had it heavily discounted on clearance. I would not have purchased it otherwise, partly because I saw this previously at a department store where I plugged it in and turned it on and clearly heard the fan above the department store din. I also don't drink a whole lot of wine, but the value at the clearance price made me decide to take one home. The first impression is that it looks great! It can add a lot of class to any space where you might put it. The l.e.d. illumination makes any old bottle of table wine look like a cherished bottle of fine vintage. It also looks very cool how the bottle appears to be "floating", since it is held in place from the top. Wine absolutely tastes better when served at the proper temperature, and this gives you that easily and consistantly. It is fun to use.

The noise issue: quite simply it sounds about like an old pc. You will clearly hear it. You can hear it from quite a distance in a quiet setting. In a quiet room you'll hear it from 20 feet away. Whether this is a minor or major issue for you is something that will depend on placement, your environment and your tolerance for this sort of thing. It is the kind of thing where I can see some people hardly caring much at all, while others might find it unbearable. I would say that placement is really key. In a kitchen, game room or other such place where you will not need total quiet and will not be doing serious music listening or movie watching, then you should not have a problem with it.

I am limiting this review to a first impression for now, since I am writing this only a day after purchase. I think that it is important to note that many of the more positive reviews which have been written in the past month or so are from the Vine Program, which means that the reviewer received their product for free (an even better deal than I got).

Update: I have so far tried two bottles of red, and am dissapointed with the preservation performance. I noticed a souring of taste after only 4-5 days, possibly even 3, but it was difficult to notice. I will need to do some more evaluation. I am using the originally installed insert and the bottles are standard sizes. The main use of this for me was to extend the life of a bottle since I do not drink a lot on any one day, but so far it seems I am getting almost zero extra preservation over simply recorking.

Whirlpool GI0FSAXVY Gold 19.8 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator - Ener

Whirlpool GI0FSAXVY Gold 19.8 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator - Energy StarPro:

The interior design is good. Holds pop cans and is very versitile for arranging the shelves how you want them. Good size.

Cons:

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! WHIRLPOOL HAS VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

The front right door dos not close properly due to an engineering flaw. Could be easily fixed but whirlpool does not care. They told me quote "That is just the way it is, live with it." Can you imagine! This is after 3 videos of the issue and a dozen phone calls to prove the problem.

Let me explain briefly.

The wing or flap that opens and closes on the left side door, holds the door open 1+ inches if not pressed firmly shut when closing. The inside door sensor reads as if it is shut and the alarm for the open door does not go off and the refrigerator stays open and gets warm inside about once a week if the last person to use does not check closely to make sure the doors are pressed firmly shut. This is BAD! Milk, meat, etc.. Now has half life. It stays open and just touching every day. Nobodies family is going to be taught to always firmly press the refrigerator doors to make sure they are closed tightly. Let's be realistic.

Anyway,

Do not buy this poorly engineered wreck. And do not buy Whirlpool brand because of their HORRIBLE Customer service.

TRUTH!!!!!

MWF Hotpoint Filter Cartridge

MWF Hotpoint Filter Cartridge
  • Replacement for MXRC, FXRT, FXRC, WR97X10006 and 46-9905 when used with an adaptor
  • Fits Hotpoint HWF
  • Reduces cysts, sediment, lead, chlorine taste and odor
  • For best performance replace your filter every 6 months

I recently purchased this cartridge along with an adapter to replace an old metal FXRC cartridge in a used fridge I just bought. It fit perfectly (with the adapter in place on the top), and after running through a quart or so of water to clean it up I've been using it for a month or so now with no issues. The water tastes very good, as does the ice. I live in the AZ desert so it gets a lot of use. Good product, does what it says...

Samsung RSG309AARS 29.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star</

Samsung RSG309AARS 29.6 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Side-By-Side Refrigerator - Energy Star
  • 8" LCD Screen With Apps
  • Twin Cooling Plus System
  • Tempered Glass Spill Proof Shelves
  • Dimensions (WHD): 35 3/4" X 69 1/2" X 36 3/4"

This side by side refrigerator has a huge storage capacity and comes complete with a touchscreen computer that does everything but cook for you. Having owned Samsung refrigerators in the past, I find myself more than delighted with this latest offering. As with my previous one, the ice maker is built into the door, thus saving a lot of room in the freezer section. All the excitement today seems to be over french door refrigerator/freezers, but not for me. I don't like bending down to get things from a freezer. I find the side by side to be a lot more convenient. As mentioned, this has a large capacity, which measures approximately 30 cubic feet. It's all stainless steel and quite aesthetically pleasing. The refrigerator section has five spill proof tempered glass shelves. There are five door bins, three of which are large enough to store a 12-15 pound turkey(I'm guessing at this). The refrigerator also comes with three crisping drawers. The massive freezer comes with five glass shelves, and includes two drawers and three door bins. My previous Samsung had a 27 cubic foot capacity, but somehow this one seems to be significantly larger. The touchscreen, while somewhat intimidating, serves a number of purposes, such as providing you with recipes. It's also capable of connecting to AP News, Pandora radio, and can even store your photographs. Once you get used to it, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. My only concern is that a touchscreen computer can be problematic if the software malfunctions, thus my recommendation would be to purchase an extended warranty, which would cover any needed repairs or malfunctions. The touchscreen also provides you with basic information about the refrigerator/freezer, such as temperature, time, etc. You can even use it to get the latest weather report. It's truly phenomenal. While this is an expensive refrigerator/freezer, in my opinion it's worth the price due to its enormous storage capacity, numerous bins and shelves, and definitely for the touchscreen computer. I'm rating this 4 stars(see below) because I just purchased it and have no comments that I can make regarding long-term reliability. My previous Samsung worked flawlessly, with the exception of one issue that I had with the ice maker. For this reason, and for the fact that this model has the same type of ice maker, I'm hesitant to give it 5 stars. Here's the problem that I had. On the older unit, the ice maker jammed, and not knowing what to do, I opened the freezer door and emptied the entire ice bin. When I closed the door, the ice maker was still jammed, so I switched buttons from ice to water. As soon as I did this, water was spilling all over the floor, as it wouldn't shut off. When I opened the freezer door, the water would stop dripping, but as soon as I closed it, it would continue to run. After a couple of minutes, I discovered that the problem was that ice had become jammed in the door dispenser. I stuck my hand up the dispenser and removed it. After doing so, the ice dispenser resumed working properly and the water ceased spilling on the floor. The exact same thing happened two times while I owned the older model. When I called Samsung regarding this new refrigerator/freezer, I was told that this problem does not exist on this model. Only time will tell if this is true. The bottom line is that this is an awesome refrigerator/freezer. It's probably more than most people would ever need, but is certainly something that a lot of people would find extremely useful. If it turns out to be reliable, than it's without a doubt one of the best appliances that you could ever hope to own.

Buy

the fridge has a compact ice maker and wifi which allows me to listen to music while I prep food. I also love the fact that I can check the weather, read headline news, and leave notes on the fridge panel. It is a great fridge with twin cooling engines and LED lights. All of the features are what I wanted in a fridge and more. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a fridge replacement (as I did).

Love this. It replaced a workhorse. No more opening the door and surprise-food is spoiled. Read the outside temp and you`ll know it`s working. The apps are amazing. The readout on the door is cool. It`s quiet, roomy and has bins for everything. Great customer support. An earlier model may have had some issues but that was a completely different model. Read the reviews on the other sites. They love this one. Ask any questions you like. It has twin compressors. It`s easy to clean. I didn`t hook up the ice maker. The bins{vegetable keepers} are a nice size. Open and close good. Update-I did hook up the icemaker later and it is great.

I have owned this fridge for about 8 months now, the features are pretty cool. The filters are kind of pricey, but I bought it for the computer screen and thats it.

I own an RF267 Samsung fridge. I highly suggest you search online about problems with Samsung refrigerators that are only 2-3 years old. Ours is leaking water. Our in-laws are having the same problem with their Samsung refrigerator. I suggest you do some research before buying a Samsung refrigerator.
