Electrolux Icon Professional E23BC68JPS 36 22.6 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door Refrigerator

Electrolux Icon Professional E23BC68JPS 36 22.6 cu. ft. Counter-Depth French Door RefrigeratorWe just replaced all of our kitchen appliances. Quite frankly, it was not a pleasant experience. To begin with a conclusion, if your appliances are working fine, think twice before replacing them.

This frig was purchased to replace a 16 year old Amana side by side that was quiet, cooled well but bore the marks of age.

This Electrolux Icon was already 20 months old when it was delivered. We had been told it was being built for us as there were several delays in receiving it. When I called the first time to get service, I was refused warranty due to the age of the product. When I told them I just bought it, I was put on hold for about a 1/2 hour. Then a short return, put on hold again and another 1/2 hour wait. Finally I was able to register the product and begin the process of getting it repaired. Not a good start and the beginnings of my suspicions this frig had been owned, and registered to, someone else in the past.

As delivered:

Large dent in door running from the top of the door to the bottom.

The other door had a large swirl mark in it.

Ice maker was useless. Took about a week to fill the basket.

Custom Temp drawer would alternate between freezing and too cold even at its lowest temperature setting.

Water filter would pop out on it own.

Food stains behind one of the shelves. Filthy (dirt/dust) seals around the doors.

We're European and not used to the super cold temperatures Americans use. The lowest this frig will go is 42. Perhaps ok for many but not at all what we are used to. Trying to store cheeses or good cold cuts means they come out hard as a rock, impossible to separate slices of meats without a lengthy warm-up period and damaged cheeses when the Custom Temp drawer decides to freeze.

Described by Electrolux as normal: The doors do not close flush with each other. One sticks out more than the other. No way to adjust. Flimsy. The box flexes with simply opening a door. Then close the door and hope its aligned reasonably close to the other door.

We've had the repairman over twice so far. My guess is we will be seeing him again.

Pros:

Lots of bling and attractive.

Cons:

Flimsy construction, poor quality, somewhat difficult company to deal with, though the repair people are excellent, noisy.

Compared to the Amana, which cost a good bit less than half what the Electrolux cost, this frig is a major step in the wrong direction.

Danby DAR259BL 2.5-Cu. Ft. Designer Compact All Refrigerator, Black

Danby DAR259BL 2.5-Cu. Ft. Designer Compact All Refrigerator, Black
  • 2.5 cu.ft. ( 70.79 litres) capacity
  • Compact counter-top all refrigerator
  • Automatic defrost; Mechanical thermostat
  • 2-1/2 shelves for maximum storage versatility
  • Tall bottle storage; CanStor beverage dispensing system

There is no wasted space for a freezer compartment. The door organization is terrific. I've used it in my classroom for a year, and it still runs as it did from the beginning. I am very pleased.

Buy Danby DAR259BL 2.5-Cu. Ft. Designer Compact All Refrigerator, Black Now

Bought one of these for my office to keep beverages cool and lunches fresh. Amazon Prime got it here (for free!) in 2 days in great shape. Plugged it in 7 months ago and have never had a single issue with it since.

Interior layout is pretty good no freezer! Lower shelf is somewhat shallow, but top ones are plenty deep. About 1/2 of the door is designed to hold 12oz soda/beer cans, so if you don't have any, some space may be wasted. With all the shelving pulled out, the surfaces are pretty even and easy to clean.

Temperature adjustment is a simple knob. Seems to cool pretty quickly, and accidentally setting it too cold demonstrated that it had no problem freezing things. Hasn't apparantly struggled with the occasional 90 degree day.

In a shared office with half a dozen people, running computers, etc, it's virtually silent except for a half a moment of quiet whirr and gurgle when it comes on a few times an hour.

Door is easy to open from the top-mounted handle and looks reversible. Magnets stick to the sides, but not the front. Top is sturdy enough to stack other things on. Has had no issue staying cool being crammed into a corner, pushed within 1" of hitting both walls.

4.5 stars minus 1/2 for the soda-can holder design.

This refrigerator was the exact dimensions listed on product page, which made it perfect for fitting under the desk of a standard cubicle (with about 0.25in to spare). It is quiet and keeps food cold.

My only complaint is that the temperature button on the back has no indication as to which direction makes things colder, so it took a bit of trial and error (spread over a few days). For anyone wondering the same, clockwise is colder.

This was a graduation gift. Looks nice, luckily arrived undamaged. I agree with other reviews that there is not much to the packing. Just the box is would come in (like in a store). The reviews were also helpful to remind us to place refrigerator in place UNPLUGGED FOR 24 HOURS, before plugging in. This was done and works wells. But we just got it. So, hopefully it will continue to run well.

The itam is listed on this page as 21.2 x 18.1 x20.8 inches.

hope you do not have a dedicated space for it like i do.

the item is 28" high & not the dimensions as listed.

LG LT700P Refrigerator Water Filter

LG LT700P Refrigerator Water FilterJust FYI with the review title... This is an exact replacement for the Kenmore version. Heck even the same photo of the straw sipping lady on the front. My french door Kenmore "Elite" was actually made by (gasp) the same plant that makes LG refrigerators so no big shock. The Kenmore brand filter is 50% more at Sears for some reason... The replacement reminder on the fridge is set for a specific volume +/and not the actual filter condition or flow, so if you have a decent water supply it can easily go through 2+ cycles without a drop in water quality (in my opinion). Works fine, and as clean and lightly chlorinated my city water is, I may not bother to replace again.

The replacement filter for our LG French Door refrigerator arrived quickly, was the correct one, and was received in perfect condition. The price was well below what I could have purchased it for locally, even with the shipping cost added on.

I was apprehensive to replace the old filter, as it was the first time that it needed to be replaced. Installation instructions were included with the filter, and I had no problem removing the old one and replacing it with the new one.

I plan on continuing to purchase our replacement filters through Amazon.

After reading and doing some research, I thought the ADQ36006101 / LT700P is a replacement for the ADQ36006102. It is NOT! I thought I would save about $15 to install it in my Kenmore refrigerator. Well after comparing the two, they looked like a good replacement. I installed it and threw the old filter in the garbage. The next day the filter leaked some water. Hence, I went out and bought the ADQ36006102 filter. I compared again and noticed the tip of the ADQ36006102 is slightly longer than the ADQ36006101. I installed the ADQ36006102 and not water leak problems.

I used this to replace a Kenmore 9915 on a 106.76239402, and it was an exact match. I hadn't realized the water flow had been reduced so much until I replaced it. Granted, I've never replaced it before and I've had this refrigerator for several years. FYI, my manual covers models 106.762{32-34,36,39,42-44,46,49}402, and specifies 9915 for all.

After much research for a replacement Kenmore 46-9915 Refrigerator Water Filter at a more reasonable price (Kenmore cost, approx. $40), I found out that Whirlpool KitchenAid 4396701 Refrigerator Filter replaces Kenmore 46-9915 Refrigerator Water Filter and other Whirlpool filters. These filters reduce cholrine taste and odor, particulate class III, lead, mercury, benzene, p-dichlorobenzene, o-dichlorobenzene, etheyl benzene, toxaphene, and 1,2,4-trichorobenzene. Easy to replace, just push and turn. Price on Amazon for the Whirlpool 4396701 was (1 pack) with free super saver shipping.

Kalorik Thermoelectric Dual-Zone 18-Bottle Ventilated Wine Cooler, Stainless Steel/Black

Kalorik Thermoelectric Dual-Zone 18-Bottle Ventilated Wine Cooler, Stainless Steel/Black
  • 18-bottle dual-zone wine cooler with thermoelectric technology
  • Digital controls with LCD display; 2-zone adjustable temperature
  • 6-bottle upper compartment for white; 12-bottle lower compartment for red
  • Soft LED lighting with on/off switch; auto defrost; double-paned tempered-glass door
  • Measures 19-2/7 by 13-1/2 by 26 inches; 1-year limited warranty

A couple of things I want to get out of the way first thing. This appliance cost me $189.00 with shipping. It is not an expensive appliance so if you are expecting 100% humidity, the ability to stay cold in your garage, or completely silent operation you may be disappointed.

On the other hand, if you keep your house or apartment fairly cool then you will have the ability to keep your wines at whatever temperature you most enjoy them along with fairly quiet operation.

-Cooling Ability

In regards to the unit's cooling ability I was initially concerned that any thermoelectric cooler wouldn't be able to stay cool in my apartment. From about 9:00PM to Noon the next day my apartment stays a relatively comfortable 76-77 degrees. However, starting at around 1:00PM the sun begins to hit the west side of my apartment and by late afternoon my AC cannot keep it cooler than 81 degrees. On occasion the temperature inside my apartment will hit 83 degrees in the afternoon even with the AC on. The good news is that this cooler can hold its own in these conditions. Because it has plenty of time during the night and morning to get down to its 50 degree setting it only drifts up slightly during the few hours of heat inside my apartment. In fact, I have not seen it get above 52 and usually it stays at 51. If you keep your place below 77 degrees you will not have difficulty getting the upper part of the cooler into the 40s from my experience (the lowest setting is 45). The bottom section stays at a rock solid 55 degrees in my apartment.

-Noise

It sounds like some people are buying this with the expectation of silent operation. I read the reviews so I knew it was going to be noisy, but from the reviews I read you would think it sounds like an aircraft trying to take off. It does make noise, but I have it on the other side of the wall from my living room and it is very difficult to hear. As long as it is one room removed from where you like to read, surf the web or whatever it should be fine. The TV easily drowns it out even in the same room.

-Other Thoughts

It looks nice, has a blue digital read-out on the front and a nice interior light. Overall, I am pleased with how it looks next to my bar. Mine arrived well packaged and with no damage which was a concern for me as I had read a lot of reviews reporting damage during shipping. In a year I will follow up to let you know how reliable it is. A couple of my taller wine bottles don't fit and champagne is a tight squeeze.

-Conclusion

I love it thus far. As long as it continues to perform the way it has it will be $189.00 well spent.

EDIT 11/11/10: I bought this in March 2009 and reviewed it in June 2009. It is still working exactly as stated in this review one year and eight months

later.

EDIT 05/07/2011: The lower compartment has lost its cooling ability. It has been just over two years since I made the purchase and the top of the unit is still keeping solidly at 55 degrees. It's a shame that the lower cooling unit seems to be over worked and just gives out over time. I am still using this unit but will probably retire it at some point and replace it with a higher quality one.

Buy Kalorik Thermoelectric Dual-Zone 18-Bottle Ventilated Wine Cooler, Stainless Steel/Black Now

We purchased this wine refrigerator in September. It ran without issue until February. Yes, a whole 5 months. At which point, it stopped working. Period. Will not turn on. Thus, I now have intimate knowledge of the "warranty" program. The warranty program is shoddy, at best. You have to provide the original receipt of purchase for Kalorik to evaluate (having original shipping box and label is inadequate). If they evaluate the receipt and determine that the product is under warranty, the purchaser (YOU) then has to pay the shipping costs to ship the product to Miami. The packing weight of the refrigerator and original box is 45 pounds. At this point, they will try to fix it or replace it. There is no additional warranty on the fix. Also, if they claim to have fixed it and it does not work when you get it back, you get to pay to ship it back to them again. If they cannot fix it, they ship you another one -maybe refurb, maybe new -I could not get clarity on what they would replace it with. However, that "other" unit does not come with an additional year of warranty. The person who provided these details on the warranty program is the person that answers the phone at Kalorik. It took no less than five times of being put on hold so that she could go ask someone else for clarity on my warranty questions. She could not email me a complete description of their warranty program, so it is anyone's guess if this program is administered the same way every time.

Bottom line -cheap, shoddy, Chinese made product with some kind of warranty that requires you to pay half as much as the product to ship it to Miami to have it fixed. I would not buy this product again, or recommend it to anyone. Go with a wine refrigerator from a reputable company with written warranty policies.

I would love to have been able to review this item. I really wanted to try it. But, I ordered one that arrived damaged. I ordered a replacement and it arrived more damaged than the first one. Until they can improve the packaging, this will never make it through shipping.

First unit arrived with a cracked doorframe, no issues returning. Second unit worked great for approx 3 weeks, but now will not cool in the lower compartment. Thankfully it decided to break before the end of the Amazon return window as none of the reviews for manufacturer customer service have been positive!

I reviewed this item when I first purchased it, a year ago, and because it was fairly inexpensive, and made in China, along with the fact that the first one they sent was broken, I had a negative view on this

cooler. Oops.....I was wrong. It has run perfectly, done a fine job of caring for my wine, and I sincerely regret doubting it was going to be worth its price. It is. I love the look of this stainless steel beauty with that cool blue light casting a glow on the bottles slumbering safely within it. Next bottle I open, I'll toast to it. It's caring for two 1978 Stag's Leap Cellars Cabernet and doing a perfectly

marvelous job. (update) Well, the thing did end up dying, after all. What a shame, I loved that glow. It still protects bottles, but doesn't chill. RIP, beautiful little cooler.

GE Refrigerator / Freezer Relay Overload WR09X10106

GE Refrigerator / Freezer Relay Overload WR09X10106Great buy awesome product, very happy with this item easy to install and it works great i almost gave up in fixing my freezer . thanks.

i bought 2 and 1 failed within a week.however i will never know as i sold the frige.never bothered to return the bad one.i gave it 4 stars because the compressor could have been overloading it or it could be chineese part.i will never never know.

This was my second attempt to replace the Relay on my GE Profile PSS23MGTE CC side by side fridge. First attempt was ordering a part that looked like the one that came off the fridge and it was not right. I was originally hesitant to go with this part because not only was it a different color, but the connectors looked different as well. Once I got it I was still a little skeptical, but low and behold the replacement part number actually was correct and this got my fridge running again. This was my first large appliance repair, and it couldn't have gone better, except if I just accepted that the replacement part number, even though it looked so different, was actually correct.

Whirlpool GI15NDXXS 15 Undercounter Ice Maker 25 lbs. Ice Storage, 50 lbs. Production: Stainless

Whirlpool GI15NDXXS 15 Undercounter Ice Maker 25 lbs. Ice Storage, 50 lbs. Production: Stainless
  • 25 lbs. Ice Storage
  • 50 lbs. Daily Ice Production
  • Fast Ice
  • Electronic Clean Cycle
  • Flat Reversible Door

The unit has been copied by many different makers under different names. The base unit hasn't changed since the 70's, just new electronic controls. It makes good quality clear ice. After a few years mine started making crunching sounds due to picking up air in the water recirculator.I could live with that. But then the water inlet valve started leaking under the machine where we couldn't see it. My wooden floors were ruined and the sheetrock ceiling below. If you get one put a catch pan like the ones under washing machines under it unless it's in a garage.

I bought this unit after buying another vendor's ice maker that failed over and over. This unit is awesome! It was about double the cost of the other unit, but worth it! I regret trying to save money on the first unit, which had the workmen out about 8 times. This unit (I've had it a few months) has been perfect. Zero sound, great ice, perfectly separated and thick. Well engineered from start to finish. Little ergonomic touches the units just don't have, such as the ice ramping automatically flipping up and down just by opening the door. Ice scoop holder is greatly positioned inside the ice holder on the side, out of the way, but easy to grab and replace. I'm not sure if I'll have the problems some of the other writers have stated in previous reviews, but this unit has been flawless and blows away the cheaper unit I previously bought.

Whirlpool makes Kitchenaid, per my repairman. This Whirlpool model is very much like the Kitchenaid (KUIC 15) I bought in 2010, cost $1500, under-the-counter icemaker, & unfortunately is a piece of junk. I am on my third repair in less than 3 years, have spent over $900 on 2 repairs after the 1 year warranty. It had to be repaired the day they initially installed it, as it didn't work, and they refused give me a new one. Each repair puts it out of service until the part comes in, and then the repairman schedules the visit. My friend also has the same one, except her icemaker door opens differently, and she has had many problems as well. Not worth the expense. The company (Whirlpool) would not stand behind it after 1 year. If you buy any icemaker, I would suggest you buy the extended warranty, because you will use it. I am going to yank out this box of junk, hook up my refrigerator icemaker, and put a cabinet door over the space occupied by this sad piece of American workmanship.

Although I did not buy this using Amazon's website, I decided to write a review here any way. I purchased two of these machines and my brother purchased one as well. All three stopped working in less than one year. The service tech that went to my brother's house told him that these machines have constant problems. Needless to say, I'm now looking on Amazon to find a new one by a different manufacturer.
