I have had this fridge for 3 and 1/2 years and it has been fantastic. Haven't had a single problem with it. It runs great, it's super quiet, and very easy to clean. Also, really spacious inside and compartments seem to have the perfect amount of space in them for what I need (veggies, fruits, eggs, butter, etc).

One of the things I love most about it is how easy it is to move. I recently remodeled my home and had to move it from the kitchen to the living room and back. The wheels on the bottom allowed me to easily drag it around by myself and didn't make a scratch on the flooring.

I just bought this LG after a horrible Frigidaire experience. I don't put a lot of faith in "just installed" reviews myself, but I can say now that it runs quiet, the shelving does not bow excessively when pressed on to simulate a turkey(I compared them all in the store first GE had to be the worst). The ice maker is noisy only when the cubes drop into the plastic bin. I am thinking of installing a layer of bubble wrap on the bottom to dull the cube impact.

As set from the factory, I measured the top frig shelf area running at ~38'F, the bottom shelf runs at 36'F and the freezer at 1'F.

I will post much later on how this frig is doing good or bad. I opted for the 5 year warranty from Best Buy just in case given the miserable comments on nearly all mfg'rs.

Refrigerator quite noisy. Took awhile to get use to the noise. Ice maker much noisier than my old Kitchen Aid refrigerator. Also, I need to call service as icemaker frosting up and and spewing ice over items in freezer. Would not purchase another LG product. Quite disappointed.

We purchased this refrigerator for our rental home on the mainland. The main control panel broke 1 day before the warranty ended, so they replaced that for free. (Of course the warranty does not cover food spoilage.) Now the ice maker is broken, so I will have to engage a repair man to fix it. I'm very disappointed with my purchase, and will never buy another LG product. Our previous refrigerator lasted 12+ years.

Do not, I repeat do not buy this LG model. Actually, I'd give this 0 stars if I could. After 13 months it stopped working. The temperature controls (inside the refrigerator) stopped working. In other words, I was unable to adjust the temperature. Tried unplugging the unit and nothing worked. Had to have the control panel replaced. Only had a 1 year warranty. But I repeat, this is a dud LG model. Buy it at your own risk.

What is now required is a way to properly dispose the filters in an environment friendly way...possible less plastic so the entire cartridge can decompose in a few months/years instead of centuries.

I've purchased several warranties with Squaretrade over the past couple of years. To be honest, I bought them with the thought that I'm most likely wasting my money because I'm sure this stuff isn't going to break during the coverage period. I was wrong. I've purchased five different warrantees from SquareTrade in the past six years.

Just last month two covered items broke. Our Samsung tablet slide out of it's case and landed on the floor. The glass was shattered. The tablet was only 5 months old. I filed my claim online on a Wednesday. SquareTrade emailed me a UPS paid label, which I affixed to my package and dropped off at my local USP store on Thursday. I was fully expecting to go shopping for a new tablet over the weekend. I received an email on Friday that they had received my package and that they would contact me asap. On the following Monday they sent an email letting me know that the tablet was repaired and on it's way back to me. I received it the next day, Tuesday. Just like new.

The day prior to dropping the tablet, our Whirlpool washer wouldn't spin. I had purchased 5-year coverage from SquareTrade, thinking that with all the computers in everything nowadays, the extra $160 was well worth the cost (and about the same as to what the retail store was offering in price). The machine was 14 months old (two months out of manufacture's warrantee). I filed a claim online and within 24 hours a response came indicating that SquareTrade was looking for a local repair shop. We have three kids 6 years-old and younger and without a working washing machine, the dirty clothes plie up really fast. I decided to call a local Whirlpool authorized repair shop that came out the next morning. He determined that the motor was shot and the replacement cost was more than 50% the cost of the washer (not to mention that it was a two week wait for a new motor!).

I called SquareTrade by 9:30am ET and spoke with a very nice lady. She apologized that I had to pay the repair guy to come out as that is something they do directly. She said SquareTrade would cover that cost for me. She asked me to take a picture of the repair invoice with my phone and email to her, which I did promptly. One hour later she called me back and told me that her adjuster would look at my situation the same day. Before the end of the day she called me again and said that SquareTrade was going to cover the original cost of the machine (plus the $75 repair bill). Two business days later my PayPal account was credited with the entire amount (and a check was sent to me for the $75). It was nice that the same SquareTrade rep called me each time!

The moment that she told me they would honor the warrantee in full, I went to the retailer and bought the same machine (I know, but the repair guy said he has never seen a motor blow in my model of Whirlpool before). I asked the retailer about their extended warrantee, which was 5-years and $80. The process of working thru a claim did not sound as smooth as what I just went thru with SquareTrade. I declined the extra warrantee. I took the machine home, promptly installed it and commenced washing 12 loads. The following day a SquareTrade email arrived with their famous 30% off coupon, and I bought another 5-year warrantee for $109.

This was the part I was looking for, unfortunately the screw to attach it was not included. Makes no sense to me since you need a screw to attach the part. It was not easy to find just the right screw. This is not the fault of the seller I suppose but if you order the part just be aware it is just the part. I have no idea how you would search for the specific screw to fit it.

This was a lot cheaper than the replacements I ordered from Sears in the past, and it seems to be working just fine. Comes in a pretty plain package but you just open it up and pop it in and you're good to go. I'll likely reorder from here when it's time to change the filter again.

I ordered 'Kenmore WF285 Refrigerator Water Filter by Sears' for the amount of $25.12 with shipping and handling in the amount of $4.99 totaling $30.11. I received 'AquaFresh WF285 Refrigerator Replacement Filter by AquaFresh' listed in the amount of $19.29. When I returned this I did receive a refund of $25.12. I was told by my Sears repairman that if I used an unauthorized filter in my refrigerator, it could void my warranty, that is why I ordered the Sears filter.

My freezer has stunk for the last couple of years and I have never been able to figure out why. G.E. refrigerators I have had in the past have never smelled like my Maytag does. I have been using baking soda in both the freezer and fridge to help get rid of the smell but it never fully disappeared. I'm sure you are hear for the same reason I was, your dishwasher is leaki h at the extreme left and right lower corners. If you have a leak in the middle, these will not help. I purchased the splash guard kit allong with a new door gasket. I wanted this thing fixed once, and fixed right. Also, the right side leak was directly onto an electrical enclosure. So, I was not taking any chances.

The new gasket alone did not stop the leaking. I had to use this kit as well. The install is straight forward with instructions included too. I had to fuss with the placment of the tabs before it solved my leak problem. Since then, I have not had an issue.

Worked as described. Fast shipment. Just a little fussy to install just right. Expect about 25-45 minutes to install and test a few times.

Bought this unit back last October and from the beginning have had nothing but issues with it. I have had it serviced 4 times in the last year with now that it is out of warranty by just three weeks and still not working whirlpool has pretty much told me tough you have to pay to have it fixed if we send someone out now.

This saddens me since they claim that there are no recalls on this unit and they haven't had complaints like mine but yet check any of their major retailers on this unit(lowe's, sears) and they are screaming the same problem i am having with not just this unit model but several like it. They have knowledge of the issues with this unit and should not still be selling it to consumers it is unethical. I just have to chalk it up to a lesson learned I suppose.

The main problem with this refrigerator was condensation build up on the magnetic strip of the freezer door. After reading the other reviews I see I'm not alone with this problem. For some reason condensation builds up and water leaks down the middle of the outside of the refrigerator. I'm not sure but that could be the cause of the condensation. When spending this much money on a refrigerator you would think that it would work right.

When whirlpool service the unit they merely replaced the filter tub heater kit which made it work a little. My unit has not made a piece of ice in over a month now with it just being a little over a year old...stay away from this unit and this company if you want quality or to be treated like a important customer cause you will not get either.

Please read reviews on this unit at their retailers website. Lowe's to be exact.

Keep in mind when looking at refrigerators that Whirlpool owns Whirlpool, KitchenAid, and Maytag.

Only advice I would give to anyone thinking of buying this Whirlpool refrigerator is if you buy it you better buy an extended warranty with it

A lot of people don't know why their icemaker doesn't work or stopped working. I figured it out I think -the new design allows the water line to the icemaker to freeze up.

Various brands (we have this Whirlpool, but the Samsungs are the same for example) switched to an icemaker-in-the-door design to free up more freezer shelf space and claim a bigger total cubic feet.

Then they sold it to us, not ready for prime time.

The result reminds me of the Boeing 787 rolling out with the battery/charger operation not tested enough (today the whole fleet is grounded).

But the FAA won't rescue you and me.

After a manual defrost the icemaker started working. I noticed that it froze *AFTER* the bin got full. Easy to figure out that when the water was standing in the line for days, it could freeze.

I reluctantly decided to raise the freezer from -4F to +4F, and am hoping this 8 degrees warmer will do the trick.

But if it doesn't, Whirlpool is going to get tested for their service.

Brita WPRF-100 Refrigerator Replacement Filter

We tried this Brita filter for our Kenmore refrigerator as an alternative to the standard Kenmore/Whirlpool filter replacements.

It is a bit cheaper, but we noticed that the taste was a little less than desirable for the first few days (after letting the required amount of water go through the filter initially for waste). However, the taste improved after several days.

I actually bought one of these from Sears... I was looking for the OEM replacement but they actually carried the Brita brand too. Since they were the same price I went for the Brita. It's been about a month now and it seems fine. Water is crystal clear and tastes good. Same for the ice. I definitely recommend this filter.

I bought my first house with all new appliances about four years ago, and decided to stick with the OEM Whirlpool refrigerator filter the first several times before giving a name brand one a try. I'd heard good things about Brita pitcher filters, so I decided to go with it.

The Whirlpool ones had tasted funny and included a few particles at first; I followed the directions and ran a gallon or two through it right after install to cut down on it. The longest it lasted was usually a couple weeks. But it lasted a few months with this Brita one. My wife drinks water with almost every meal, and she refused to drink it until it had been in use for almost three months, whereas she couldn't tell the difference after a week or two with the Whirlpool filters.

It should be noted that the water tastes great now, so I gave it three stars.

Don't know if I got a bad unit or what, but I'll be going back to the Whirlpool OEM filters the next time the yellow light comes on.

The filter works just as good as the manufacturer one for a lower price you can't find anywhere. Once you install the filter you must throw at least 1 or 2 gallons of water or until the water looks clean of particles from the water dispenser before drinking out of it. After using it for awhile you'll begin to taste cleaner water.
