I did my research online and, in spite of a couple of negative reviews on this product, I chose to purchase it. It arrived in a well-packaged carton when it was supposed to arrive. I unpacked it, followed the directions and got it up and running. Within an hour of plugging it in, the compressor started to rattle badly. I learned that the compressor on this unit is inside a housing unit that's about the size of a cantaloupe. Internally, it is supported by a few springs. The rattling clearly indicates that one of the springs broke.

Next, I contacted the seller. They directed me to the manufacturer. They offered to send me a new unit and asked me to use the packaging material from the new unit to package up the old one. They paid for the return shipping. I got the new unit and sent off the old one. Again, I followed instructions to a tee. Once plugged in, the second one rattled also just like the first. I contacted the manufacturer and told them I wanted to undo everything and just get my money back. Sunpentown, an apparently jack-leg organization, said that they would send me yet a 3rd unit. I told them I didn't want that. I wanted my money back and to be done with this piece of crap. They agreed to take the unit back but said that I must package it up. I explained to them that I did not keep packing materials on hand which would allow me to package a unit of this size and weight. I even offered to take it somewhere to get it professionally package and shipped if they paid for it. They would not pay for the shipping and would not agree to hold me harmless if something happened to the unit during transport.

So... I am stuck with a unit that cools, but that rattles LOUDLY. It's become a game for us here at home. When it starts rattling, my 2 year old daughter wants to stop the rattle the same way she saw Daddy fix the rattle for the first time she comes in the kitchen and kicks the living crap out of it.

Stay far, far away from anything manufactured or "serviced" by Sunpentown.

After five months of owning this piece of garbage, it just stopped working. Just went dead, for no apparent reason. Rather than honoring their warranty and sending me a replacement, they made me SEND THE UNIT back to them, at a whopping price of almost $40 in postage. (Looking back, I was a complete fool for falling for this.) Then they alerted me that the unit had arrived "damaged" but out of the goodness of their hearts they were willing to send me a RECONDITIONED unit for $70. How long do you think the reconditioned unit would have lasted if a NEW one lasted only five months?

I'm now on a one-man crusade to make sure nobody else makes the mistake of buying these terrible products. They're garbage and the company that sells them is unethical. They dealt with me in very bad faith. Do yourself a favor and look for something more solid, with better craftsmanship and most importantly, a company that STANDS BY ITS PRODUCTS AND ISN'T DEVOTED TO RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS.

I like the look overall, even though the handles seem a little cheap! I kept the fridge for about 48 hours and overall it was just too loud when it cycled on. I called the store where I purchased it and they said they would send out a repair person. I told them, no thank you since I purchased a NEW fridge, not a repaired, refurbished fridge. I must admit, I am sensitive to noises, but when my sister said it was too loud (and nothing bothers her for the most part), I knew something was not right about this fridge. So back to the store it went and I am still looking for the perfect, bottom-freezer fridge.

I have owned this model for 2 years now, and it is a great fridge and there has not been a single problem with it. I am old enough to have had the opportunity to have owned a number of refrigerators in my life. This one is a good solid unit. The handles are metal and rigidly mounted. The seal on my example is more secure than any other I have encountered and it took me by surprise. It takes a good effort to release when opening the door. It is not loud at all, and in fact is as quiet as any I have owned. Perhaps the previous reviewer could have taken his vendor up on their offer of a repair. I recommend it.

White Mountain F69206-X 6-Quart Electric Ice Cream Freezer

During the spring, summer, and fall, I make ice cream a couple times a month. It has been a family tradition for many years. In my youth, mom & dad made ice cream often and Dad had a hand crank White Mountain freezer that lasted for the better part of a quarter century. I have had 2 of the newer White Mountain electric freezers in the past 3 years and 3 replacement motors. What once was a well made American product, is now a Chinese made piece of junk, cleverly disguised as the old reliable White Mountain freezer. Two of the relacement motors stripped the gears on the second batch of cream. Stay away from this freezer until White Mountain decides it will make this high priced product of the quality it once was.

I love this ice cream machine! It makes enough ice cream (6 quarts! not 1 to 1-1/2 quarts like the others) for large gatherings or enough to store for future consumption. It's very simple to operate with the electric motor doing all the work and the Ice Cream is fabulous, smooth and creamy. I put it on a "rag rug" on the kitchen floor where I add the ice/salt. It's a bit noisy, but it's part of the fun. My only complaint is that very few recipes are included with the machine. Solution, purchase a book of ice cream recipes to supplement. Some good ones are: Frozen Desserts : The Definitive Guide to Making Ice Creams, Ices, Sorbets, Gelati, and Other Frozen Delights which gives DETAILED history/information and The Ice Cream Machine Cookbook by Melissa Clark which includes some very creative ice cream combinations.

Recently, a group my son was in had to make over 200 gallons of homeade ice cream. The group would go to local festivals and sell the ice cream to raise money. Anyway, we had about 14 six quart freezers, 4 of them being the White Mountain models. The White Mountain freezers not only froze almost 2x faster than the other models but the ice cream was much more firm. Also, after making all of the ice cream, many of the other models were literally "burnt out" but the White Mountain machines seemed to go on and on showing no signs of wear. These freezers have probably made over 30 gallons of ice cream and still are as good as new. I would highly recommed a White Mountain machine.

Twenty years ago when we got married we received a White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer as a gift. It was so different than any other ice cream freezer we had ever had. The ice cream turns out so smooth and the leftovers stay so smooth and good in the freezer, not turning hard like so many other ice cream freezers we had used. We have never had a problem with it at all, until a month or so ago our daughter dropped the motor on the ground and it broke--so we decided to purchase a new ice cream freezer. We would not purchase any other than the White Mountain. We have made many different flavors--the freezer works great with fruit and nuts, choc. chips,-anything. I'm a novice to Ice Cream making. My family and I did own and operate a Baskin Robbins for about 6 years and I got to visit the dairy where they made the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream. For my money, even though this was an expensive purchase, the White Mountain ice cream maker provides the closest reality to taste and texture that commerical ice creameries produce, given the right recipes. The quality of the paddles or solid and designed to last a VERY long time. True the machine is loud, it also works hard to mix any type of ice cream wanted and does it very, very well. We've made about 20 batches so far and with the exception of 2 of them they all turned out perfect. The 2 that were bad, were pilot error. We also invested in the Ben-n-Jerry recipe book, which I also recommend. It covers everything from Vanilla Bean (yummy) to Cherry Garcia (double yum). For the money you'll end up buying 2-3 of those [inexpensive] ice cream makers and wear them out in no time. We have a large family for get togethers so we use the full 6 quarts, but it will do smaller batches for just 2-3 people with no problem. It cleans up easily with the cylinder being Stainless Steel and the wood paddles add a sense of realizime I love, plus it doesn't taint the ice cream, just like the pro's. A+ to White Mountain.

good fridge. dont like the can dispensor. i dont drink pop or beer. and its a waste of space for me. the design is clevor for someone who does consume canned beverages but for me its a pain. i cant utilize the space.

The product itself is excellent. It works, well!, except for the freezer, which is fairly standard. It's got plenty of room, not much wasted space and was shipped relatively quickly.

However, the packaging was less than impressive. It's got a dent in the door and seems to of been knocked around quite a bit in the shipping process, something that adequate packaging would of prevented, I'm sure.

But I plugged it in, and it works just great and has continued to since the day I plugged it in.

I'm posting this review because of my extreme dissatisfaction with this wine refrigeration product line. Two years ago my husband purchased the Edgestar 28-bottle fridge for me as a Christmas gift. We were so excited with the product that we raved to everyone about it. The following Christmas it was all my parents wanted. We purchased this smaller 16-bottle Edgestar for them. Not two weeks later ours died. My husband is quite handy and called to purchase various parts to repair the unit--over $100 worth--to no avail. We were devastated to throw away a brand new unit just one year after our purchase. I spoke with my parents last night and found to their utter disappointment now theirs has died too--just one year after we purchased it for them. This is TWO units that died immediately after a one-year period! These products are not inexpensive and were a costly investment to preserve our favorite wines. We are disappointed in the quality of Edgestar and have vowed to never purchase again from Compact Appliances. We are also planning to warn all of our wine-loving friends in the wine classes we attend to not purchase the products as well. What a disappointing Christmas!

I bought this cooler because it had the lock. The lock is a joke. A 2 year old could get into this cooler. A simple removal of 2 screws on the bottom of the cooler renders the lock useless. Simply pushing down on the jamb also releases the door. Don't buy this cooler if the lock is important to you!

We bought ours from Home Depot and we love it. The ice maker is where it should be in the freezer compartment and its no sweat to open the drawer and get the cubes. More than we need overnight. Efficient our electric bill dropped when we replaced our 10+ year old Sears machine. Quiet, and it beeps when the door is left open too long as a reminder. We were restrained in the size by the space in the cabinet so had to but according to size. The old machine had water and ice in the door and that's terribly inefficient and the change is absolutely no problem. We use the filtered water from the sink anyhow. Highly recommended, even though we bought the extended contract because we were not familiar with the LG experience. Buy it.

I purchased mine for $375 at HH Gregg. The salesman brought it right out of the store, and helped to load it in the back of the SUV, so there's no damage. It's perfect for under counter height. I had gone thru Overstock for a different wine fridge, it arrived well, the door was busted off, all dented, the box very damaged, so we returned it, and received full money back from Overstock. This is the only wine refrigerator I have found (for under $1,000+) that actually lets you store riesling bottles without putting them in at an angle. By removing a shelf you can even store over-sized champagne bottles.

The shelving is very nice, looks very classy -not sure why some people on other sites have said the shelves are flimsy. Really makes me wonder what the heck they plan to put in this little wine cooler! I think the size is great -almost as high as my kitchen cabinets. The range of temperatures is excellent, as it goes down to 41 for whites and that's a little cooler than some of the other appliances go, but it's exactly what I wanted. Dual temperature control is a wonderful thing!

I thought I wanted one of the newer thermoelectric-style coolers because they allegedly were silent and didn't vibrate your wine (both arguments sound like marketing hype to me after doing a lot of research and I'd REALLY be surprised if my wine is going to be vibrated to the point of ruining it -I'm buying wine to drink, not as an investment), but anyway, I discovered that most of those coolers didn't have a temperature setting as low as I could get with this type.

The refrigerator isn't silent, but it isn't really noisy ... definitely not as noisy as the last one we had (which was only an 18-bottle cooler). It has pretty little blue (they aren't what I'd consider white, as some descriptions say) LED lights that will stay on all the time if you want to show off your wines. I like the way it looks and it seems to intrigue our cats, so the lights go under the PRO category. I would definitely recommend this appliance.

The item arrived in a broken, torn and wet box. The item is dented in at least 5-6 places including the handle which is totally visible.

I am not sure if the item sent to me is new or somebody's return. This is not expected from Amazon especially for an Amazon prime member. I am really disappointed and am now struggling with the replacement .... I don't have a box to ship it back in as the one it came in is totally trashed in shipping. I am hoping I will be allowed to ship this in a box which arrives with the replacement fridge.

What a disaster! Product came with hinge and door handle broken (and according to the manufacturer not fixable). After a hassle talking with the manufacturer, I was redirected to Amazon. Replacement was sent and had exact same damage. What a mess! I had to waste time and energy on this. Had to get someone to help me lift both items into place (100 feet plus stairs) and back to door for return. I have better ways of getting a work out. Absolutely don't waste your time buying this product. The packaging or product design is clearly faulty. Buy a different product from another manufacturer or buy at your local retailer and have them deliver so you know it is not damaged.

Arrived with the door broken off, just like the other reviewer said. It's packaged very thinly, and there dents and what not all over. It still works, and I put the door back on despite the broken pieces.

When the compressor kicks in it's pretty loud and the temperature control is not terribly good.

There's no way it actually holds 38 bottles, some of my cabernet bottles (heavier and slightly larger) don't even fit on the shelf, and in general any slight bottle size variation means you either can't pull a shelf in/out or you can't fit the right number of bottles on it.
