Thermador 491849 Certified Green Refrigerator Water Filter 3 PackWe bought a filter for our Thermador fridge from the company and one filter cost us $70. Kenmore 46-9690 Kenmoreclear! Refrigerator Water Filter

Kenmore 46-9690 Kenmoreclear! Refrigerator Water FilterI hesitated because, though the number is the same as on my filter purchased from Sears, the box was different in the photo on Amazon. After some though decided to take the chance. Well, it came with the updated box (so the one on this amazon photo is not right) BUT, it is the correct product. Sears sells it for $58.98 so I decided to go ahead and get another one to keep for next time. Very pleased with the fast service and the price and the product. Shame on Sears for selling this same thing and almost a $20 markup ! Thank heaven for Amazon!!

This is the first time I have purchased from this company. As long as they keep their prices low I will definetly buy from them again. It is the same exact filter that Sears sells for nearly 3x the price, if they have it in stock. I don't have to waste the gas, time, deal with the mall traffic or hunt down a sales person, it comes right to my door. It fits perfectly, even though changing the filter is a bit of a pain.

You must be sure to pull the door that houses the filter as far down as it will go (don't force it) in order to pull the old filter out and replace the new one.

We bought a new fridge 6 months ago and our change filter light came on. I called Sears where we bought it from and their filters were $59.99 each. I checked Amazon and they were $27.99 plus shipping for the same thing, also new. I purchased 2 from Amazon and only spent $63 total. That is exactly what I would have spent at Sears for just 1!! Thanks Amazon, you are wonderful! We put the product in our fridge a week ago and it is working great!

Whirlpool 4396841 PUR Push Button Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter

Whirlpool 4396841 PUR Push Button Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water FilterWe purchased a new Whirlpool refrigerator earlier this year. The new refrigerator has all the marvelous improvements developed in the last ten years for refrigerators, including a water filter.

The water filter really does deliver better water. However, the water filter seems quite expensive to me. Whirlpool, and other manufacturer's that use this type of filter, recommend the filter be replaced twice a year, whether you need to replace the filter or not.

The filter is relatively easy to replace, but be aware of what happens when you pull the filter. To remove the old filter you push a button next to the filter, typically to the left of the filter. Then pull on the cap covering the filter and pull the filter out. Make a note of how the filter was oriented when you pull it out.

The filter will now begin dripping water, so have a paper towel or small bowl available to let the water drip into. You can either let the filter finish dripping into a sink, or throw it into a plastic bag that you can seal to keep the water from dripping out of the bag. Be sure you remove the cover from the filter before you toss it. On our Whirlpool the cover twists counterclockwise for removal.

Install the filter cover onto the new filter. It takes just a twist to lock it into place. Holding the filter so that the two straight pieces on the end of the filter are vertical, with the open portion of the filter cover oriented on the bottom, slide the new filter straight into the filter cavity until the button on the left clicks to let you know the new filter is locked into place. Note that these instructions are for a Whirlpool, but I believe most other refrigerators are similar. You should be ready to go!

Had I known refrigerator water filters were so expensive I might have gone with a refrigerator without one, though our local water has a lot of chlorine in it (which is filtered out by the filter).

As with many modern conveniences, this water filter represents a convenience that you did not know you needed until you had it. Now that I have it, I am wondering whether I want it since I have to spend a chunk of change each year in filter replacements. Oh well. I guess I can sleep more soundly knowing that the water filter is now removing a bunch of stuff from my water that my body either did not want or need.

Good luck!

Overall we have found this to be a great water filter. But we have had our water tested by a professional, both at the tap, and at the filtered tap on the refrigerator. Both waters tested the same for chlorine content, however, the particle contaminants were greatly reduced by the filter on the refrigerator.

Something to note on your water filter.

The light is merely a timed indicator of when they want you to replace the filter. Think of it as a "countdown timer" that starts as soon as you reset it. It is in no way measuring the amount of water you are consuming... Personally, I used to change out the filter every 6 months when the indicator light came on, but we rarely use the water/ice now, so I haven't changed it (or reset it) in over a year although I probably will soon. I actually cut the first one in half to see how "contaminated" the filter was and to my surprise, it looked like a brand new filter...

The life of a filter depends on a couple of things.

1. The amount of contaminants in your water (well water is typically the worst)

2. The amount of water that passes through the filter

If you have low contaminants and/or use very little filtered water, your filter will last much longer than 6 months. If you pay attention to the amount of water flow and the size of your ice cubes, you can more accurately determine the proper time to replace the filter.

I have county water and we also have installed a "whole house" water filtration system, so I can probably get closer to 2 years out of a filter. Obviously, not everyone has these installed though, just use common sense on when to replace your filter and you'll be fine.

P.S. Why is it more expensive per unit to buy the 3-pack than it is to buy the 2-pack? Am I the only one that found this odd?

Buy Whirlpool 4396841 PUR Push Button Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter Now

Since I had had previous experience with Pur water filters, we purchased a side-by-side water and ice dispenser Whirlpool fridge over a year ago that uses these filters and they have made a huge difference in the quality of our water. We live in Riverview, FL, a suburb of Tampa, and the water here is so foul that I sometimes wonder if I have an odor from it after I shower. Since it smelled that bad coming from the tap I knew I was not going to drink it, cook with it, nor give it to my cats. So, to save us the expense of buying bottled water, we bought the fridge. Yes, the filters are expensive, but they are Pur water filters which, in my opinion, are better than Brita. I would rather have the expense than get sick drinking nasty water. Since I use the filtered water for just about everything, I have to replace my filter more frequently, but it is well worth the cost.

To save a few bucks, I order my filter online and three at a time; this usually saves me $3-5.00 per filter. Just search for the item number of the filter and you will find several places that sell it either as a single, a three-pack, a four-pack or a six-pack. Obviously, the more you buy, the more you save.

I paid almost as much for this as I would have had to pay in the store, and it has never worked since the day I installed it. I kept thinking that maybe it needed to be in awhile and the bad taste would go away, but it has not. Once in awhile it tastes better for a glass or two, but most of the water and ice are terrible. I had a filter in that came with the refrigerator for two years and never had any bad ice or water, and ever since I changed to this one it has all been bad, so there must be something wrong with the filter. It is supposed to be the exact filter that came with my fridge when it was new according to the website, but it does not work the same. I am not entirely sure if it is even new, perhaps they are recycled or maybe it was just defective, but it is too difficult to try to fix it through the internet and the mail, so now I will be forced to go to the local store and buy another after just paying for a new one. If I were you, I would just get your replacements at a local store, if it doesn't work right, at least you can take it back easily and exchange it. I will not order one this way again, I will use a hardware store or department or appliance store.

This filter lasted about 7 months for our family of four. It provides crystal clear and very good tasting drinking water. It's very quick and easy to replace and it can be done in about 30 seconds. The only down side is the cost is a little on the high side and this filter only removes 4 different contaminants. I pay a few more dollars now and get the PUR 4396710 that removes 12 different contaminants including harmful substances like lead, mercury, asbestos. If you want good tasting water then this filter will do the trick. If you want good tasting and healthy water then get the PUR 4396710.

Avanti : BCA5105SG1 24 Beverage Center 5.3 cu. ft. Capacity, Adjustable/Removable Shelving
  • Great space saver!
  • Door reverses
  • Shelves can be removed or adjusted
  • Interior light adds visibility
  • Multiple temperature options

This unit is super noisy!!!! Also, the temperature adjust is very finnicky to adjust. If you're beverages are on the top shelf in front of the fan, they will freeze. If you turn unit warmer, then other drinks are luke warm. The shelves are a pain in the neck to adjust, and they are EXTREMELY FLIMSY. The bow under the weight of just a twelve pack. Overall, I am NOt satisfied with this unit. In fact, it is my second. The first one I got was a lemon, and the fan under the unti stopped working. They sent me a new unit. It ened up breakig too (a different part), so I salvaged a part from the first one to fix it. Oddly, their wine cooler I have (often solod as a companion to this unit) is completely awesome. But, the beverage cooler SUCKS.

First off the instructions for changing the door swing were not well written. The fridge has broken 3 times in 1 year. I'm on my 3rd control board. This is one of the worst products I have ever purchased. I did get the extended warranty, so I guess I'm hosed next year.

This unit came with a newly constructed house that my wife and I purchased in Oct of 2011. The unit ran 24 hours a day, after 4 or 5 months the unit started overheating and stopped cooling at all. Long story short 2 dispatches for repair and replaced compressor, no luck Avanti sent a new unit a few months later. Second unit ran 24 hours a day to keep it at 36 degrees and after about 8 months it's stopped cooling again. Now I need to find a reliable replacement.

Bought this fridge 10 mos ago and have been very pleased with it. It has maintained 38 deg without disruption for that entire time, keeping sodas, wine and beer cold. We have it integrated into a wet bar in our media room. It looks very nice surrounded by cherry cabinetry and granite counter top. Our unit does make noise, but does not disrupt movie/tv watching and we rarely even notice it. The negative reviews are very disconcerting, and I admit I may not have purchased had I read them first. But for our part, this fridge has been perfect.

This appliance in the kitchen is fantastic. Unless you use your dishwasher (DW)everyday this refrig. is a must. Plugs right into the DW opening and is soooo darn handy for many things you want to keep cold.

I was very excited to find a cube refrigerator that doesn't require 1/4 of the internal space for the compressor and an unnecessary freezer. Woohoo Avanti! There were two reviews for this product, but they were mixed: 1/5 and 5/5 stars. I took a gamble, and here's my take.

Pros: The fridge is very light (see cons), and there is ample interior space. Compared to the 1.7 cu ft fridge it was replacing, it felt like twice the space due to no freezer or compressor, and the internal layout is a more useful configuration. I'm actually considering purchasing it again despite my one-star review and the cons below simply because the internal space is 10x more useful.

Cons: The fridge comes in a box with a protective layer of styrofoam, but the styrofoam on four sides is only about 1/4 inch thick. Some protection! One of the back corners of the fridge was slightly dented, but it was a minor cosmetic blemish. The dent could have occurred simply because someone looked at the fridge the wrong way. The stainless steel door is decent, but the black sides, back, and top of the fridge are made of what feels only marginally sturdier than those disposable aluminum cooking pans. The plastic of the interior also feels quite flimsy, but I never got to try it out because the unit did not work and I didn't get to put anything into it.

Also, not a pro or con, but I neglected to look at the product demensions thinking a 1.7 cu ft unit = another 1.7 cu ft unit, but this fridge is taller and skinnier than the "typical" cube refrigerator if that matters to you.

I bought this to use instead of the big fridge I have, because I hated the noise it did, and I don't have much food in the fridge, so I don't need anything big.

This one is very silent (the fan did some noise at the begining, maybe like a desktop computer, but I haven't heard it later).

It's quite cool, so far it's working very good.

Take into account that it doesn't have freezer, so you can't make ice or have froozen things.

I was nervous reading the prior reviews about damage in shipping, but my wife really really wants a silent fridge so I figured I would get this to the office and try it, and use it for myself if it made any hints of noises she might be unhappy about.

First the good news it arrived without major damage. The original manufacturer's packaging is simple corrugated cardboard (20lbs crush or similar) and took a decent beating in transit (not sure if it arrived at eek that way or if FedEx applied during delivery to me). Opening the packaging reveals a similarly skimpy amount of protective styrofoam about 2mm thick around the sides and a 5mm molded top and bottom cap fitting rather snugly. I can see why folks who have had dropped or mistreated boxes saw damage the 2mm syrofoam will NOT protect this unit from side impacts. There was some minor damage, luckily to the "back" of the unit denting the thin aluminum wall, but this did not appear to damage any internals and wont be visible.

Second the so-so news this box is manufactured about as cheaply as is possible given modern technology the Peltier solid-state thermo-electric cooler inside may be gee-whiz futuristic, but the chassis is standard main-land-China technology (not knocking the wizards there, I do admire their ingenuity at building material goods faster and cheaper than seems feasible). Fit of the front door is slightly off so that the plastic door insert rubs as the door is opened and closed, but otherwise the action of the door is smooth and noise-less.

The better news it works, 3 minutes after plugging it in on "high" it is noticeably cooler inside. Given the actual heat transfer physics of a Peltier junction in joules-per-second I would guess this fridge would struggle to take a massive object like a gallon of milk from room-temp down to 40F, but something that starts cool should remain such. Insulation in the box is limited due to the size, however the materials are a good choice (standard nylon and polystyrene) and should be as resistant to stains and mold as any other commercial refrigerator.

Last the best news the device is "silent" as far as I can tell there is a small heat-exchange fan on the back to draw room air across the Peltier junction, even when it is running continuously I cannot hear it from 5 feet away, my Apple MacBook laptop idle fan is louder from the same distance. No rattles, creaks or other aberrations.

So far the fridge is quiet and cool, although I've only had it for two days. It arrived very very damaged, so that it can't stand correctly (rocks back and forth) and is extremely dented. The funny thing is, the box showed no signs of damage. The fridge, however, is partially smashed. I think it's a well functioning fridge, so I'd suggest buying it in store since it arrived in such a bad condition.

Everything went well with this order except for one thing. One of the filter frames of two had a dent in it. It did not affect the filter's usefulness, but had it been hit any harder during shipping it might have. Better shipping could have prevented this.

Whirlpool WRT359SFYF 18.9 Cu. Ft. Stainless Look Top Freezer Refrigerator - Energy Star

Whirlpool WRT359SFYF 18.9 Cu. Ft. Stainless Look Top Freezer Refrigerator - Energy StarOur entire family of adults have now poked our backs and/or heads, and on two occasions blood was drawn. The problem we had was with the enormous depth/ short height of the refrigerator box, low deep shelves, extra forward door thickness, PLUS THE VERY SHARP lower edges of the freezer door handle when the lower door is open. So while you bend down to reach in, you have to remember to stay low getting out -or else OUCH! and maybe blood. You're best to study the front-to-back dimension of this model carefully. If you're shorter than 5'-0", then it's no problem.

Aside from this, there's more noise than usual. There's occasional "metal dropping" noises. The shelves cannot place tall jars unless you take out one of the glass shelves. The plastic bottom skirt simply falls out upon the slightest bump because it's a cheap afterthought appearance thingie.

On the upside, the temperature seems very consistent in both compartments. We got a rebate from the utility company for the CEE Tier 3.

Now hoping that the energy savings over time is true.
