It took me a while and surely wasn't as easy as everything all the repair guys made it look on YouTube. Go there first and use patience. I took apart most of the washer and then realized I didn't need to. Depends on which video you watch.

Perfect fit & from what I was quoted by a local service technician, fixing it myself saved my at least $200!! The installation took less than 1 hour, with the last 30+ minutes struggling with the cable affixing the seal to the door frame. This step could have taken 3-5 minutes if I'd had a 3rd hand (or a helper of course). See the following link for repair

My 10yo gasket had holes and I was tired of trying to patch it. I was considering junking the machine but decided to try to put a new seal on. My unit is stacked in a cubby so I knew I did not want to take it all down to remove the top and front and I heard online that some people have successfully replaced all through the main opening.
1. Remove outer spring.
2. Push old seal in towards tub and remove it from water feed tube at 10:00 and spray tube at 12:00 (if you have it)
3. Push old seal all the way into middle of tub exposing the outside edge where it hooks to tub.
4. find bolt on metal ring at 2:00. I used a 9/32 screwdriver socket clamped in a small visegrip plier to loosen bold a couple turns.
5. Once ring is loose, remove ring and set aside.
6. Remove old seal from tub.
7. Take new seal and put some dish soap on inner edge where it will mount on tub.
8. starting at top, place edge of seal over ridge on tub mating the surface. work around tub seating edge as you go (I had my daughter hold the edge I had already done so it would not come off as I worked my way towards the bottom).
9. once seated, while holding edge push outer part of seal into middle of tub so you have room to work (it should now look like it did in step 3 (may need a second set of hands here)
10. slide large ring clamp over seal and set it in groove where it goes. Make sure seal is well positioned, feel around edge with fingers.
11. tighten bolt on ring clam as many turns as you had loosened do not over tighten.
12. pull out seal from middle of tub, using a little dish soap for lubricant re-insert fill tube and spray tube (MAKE SURE upper fill tube is well seated at bottom of dispenser (mine was loose))
13. hook outer part of seal over outer rim and re-install spring removed in step 1. (second set of hands helps here, although I've done it fine myself. use a small tipped screwdriver in each hand to spread spring enough to snap it into groove and finish seal)
No leaks!
I did get some fine gray rubber powder on seal, I think it is from metal drum on spin cycle rubbing against new edge on seal, after the first couple washes I wiped this off and I have not found any more.

Finding parts can be difficult until you discover that there are several makes and models that are essentially the same; in my case Kenmore. Perfect fit and I now have that new washer smell!!!
