Danby DAR125SLDD 4.4 cu.ft. All Refrigerator - Spotless Steel

Danby DAR125SLDD 4.4 cu.ft. All Refrigerator - Spotless Steel
  • 4.4 cu. ft. (124.6 litre) capacity compact refrigerator
  • Scratch resistant work-top is a great place to store
  • 2 full shelves and 1 half shelf for maximum storage versatility; Crisper with glass top
  • Automatic defrost, Mechanical thermostat
  • Interior light

I bought this fridge short notice when a defrosting attempt rendered my last beer fridge inoperable, and I felt a little pressured to hit the Go button on it as my tasty 12oz's of Heaven slowly warmed. But I must say I'm not disappointed at all! It's a great size, looks fantastic, isn't as heavy as I thought it would be, is very quiet, and keeps more than 60 bottles of Sam Adams ice cold and within arms reach with room to spare! My original fridge was a Kenmore job, with a pathetic waste-of-space freezer section (which this does not have) that for some unknown reason Sears saw fit to make the freezer floor out of the cooling element. So of course it iced up like you read about, and I, like many a man before me, took the task of removing this ice seriously (it was encroaching on my beer space as it grew!)...and pulled out my trusty, and ridiculously pointy, pocket knife. So after a bath of freon, or what ever the hell they're using these days to cool, washed over me with a snake-like hiss, I proceeded to slam the door and muscle the fridge out to the driveway where it still sits. Luckily my beer supply was low (it pains me to admit this), so I only needed to commandeer a single shelf in the practically useless "food" fridge as the wife calls it. But knowing this arrangement wouldn't last, I needed a new fridge, and fast. So I bit the bullet after reading a few whiny reviews about ridiculously trivial issues (like not getting cool enough, or damaged in shipping; neither of which plague(d) my unit), even springing for the $4 overnight option (Thank you PRIME!), and couldn't be happier. My pregnant wife likes it so much she's decided to throw caution to the wind and resume drinking. Who could resist pulling a frosty beverage from this bad boy and tossing it back at the end of a hard day? Not this guy! And this fridge delivers with style. Only thing I can think of as a drawback is it doesn't keep the ice frozen, but then, giving up room in it for ice when it could be holding more beer is just ludicrous. This scenario actually makes me shudder to consider.

Summary? Kick-ass fridge for the money and if you have Prime, pay the $4 to overnight it just so you can tell your friends you overnighted a FRIDGE for FOUR FREAKING DOLLARS. Then slam back a cold one for emphasis.

We purchased this refrigerator for our outside entertainment bar because of its size and energy efficiency rating. So far we are very satisfied. It is a quiet and maintains internal temperature keeping everything nice and cold. There are plenty of shelving options as they are all adjustable. The door has 10 can holder slots for beer or soda and also has adjustable shelves for bottles of soda or wine. There is a drawer on the bottom perfect for storing garnishes, cheeses or meats. There is plenty of room in the rest of the fridge to fill as you please. The door really is spot resistent, we are not constantly cleaning it! This was a great purchase; we highly recommend this item.

I had my Danby less than 24 hours before the problems started. I had the thermostat set at slightly more than half (probably 6/10) for the first night it was in use. The next day, I discovered that all of my 6 (expensive!) bottled beers on the bottom shelf (above crisper drawer) had frozen, and 3 of them had burst causing beer to go everywhere! Checked the rest of the beverages in the fridge to see if they were also close to bursting, but found those in the middle & top shelves not even beginning to freeze.

After this fiasco, I set the thermostat to about a third of the way up (probably 3/10) so as not to have a repeat incident. After another 6 hours, the stuff on the bottom did not freeze, but was very cold (great!). However, the items on the top shelf were barely even cool to the touch (not great). I proceeded to do a little test with a refrigeration thermometer leaving the thermostat at about one-third. After 30 minutes, the bottom shelf read 37 degrees. I moved it to the top shelf and waited another 30 minutes, and found it showing 54 degrees! A 17 degree difference between top and bottom!!! Not to mention that 37 degrees is WAY too cold especially when the thermostat dial is set so low.

So it seems that I am experiencing the same inconsistent cooling that at least 2 other reviewers are having. Amazon was great about setting up a replacement delivery & pickup. I am willing to try a replacement before calling this fridge a total failure. The replacement is set to arrive tomorrow, so I'll post an update in a few days. Wish me luck!

UPDATE: Received a replacement, and it had the same EXACT issue!!! Started it off with the thermostat at the midway point (most manufacturers recommend this setting), and placed identical thermometers on the top and bottom shelves. After one hour, the top read 55 degrees, and the bottom was at 30!!!! I am willing to accept a few degrees difference, maybe even as much as 6 or 7 tops, but 15 degrees is ridiculous. I would have to accept the top being at nearly 60 just to keep the lower half above freezing. Am sending this one back also (UPS is gonna hate me tomorrow), and am getting the Haier 4.5cu ft one instead. Fingers crossed...

I bought this fridge to make my own mini-kegerator. There are plans on a few sites on the web for this model. After modding, I can fit two 5-gallon kegs, and a C02 tank tight in there. The fridge came as expected, and looks pretty nice. The temp control isn't anything fancy, but not sure what you'd expect on a less expensive mini-fridge.

If you do decide to mod it, you must take care not to hit a coolant line!

Also, I used the cheap overnight shipping option on this using my amazon prime. So worth it. I've read other people may have had problems with shipping damage using ground shipping, but that was not the case for me.

Professional FPUS2698LF Side by Side RefrigeratorFrigidaire FPUS2698L Energy S

Professional FPUS2698LF Side by Side Refrigerator
  • Height
  • Width
  • Depth
  • Weight
  • Color Stainless Steel

The appearance of this fridge is excellent. The stainless look on the sides was a deciding factor in our selection of this fridge and it looks great. The ice/water in door operation is good. When you open the doors the light gently comes on which is a neat touch. So far our food is kept cool and frozen in the respective areas as appropriate. The drawers don't glide as smoothly as they should, but are acceptable.

The one major problem is that this refrigerator makes a high pitched whine constantly when the compressor is running (which is most of the time). We would have chosen another fridge if we'd known about this beforehand. This is not just your typical compressor noise that most refrigerators make. This is that typical noise plus a high pitched noise that we find very irritating.

This is very disappointing since our two previous Frigidaire refigerators worked so well in every respect.

Based on the high pitched noise that this fridge makes I could not recommend this product.

Cooltech Refrigeration 48-inch 1 Shelf Refrigerated Deli Display Case 48" CMPH-48CD

Cooltech Refrigeration 48-inch 1 Shelf Refrigerated Deli Display Case 48' CMPH-48CD
  • 48-Inch Refrigerated Counter Deli Display Case. 48''X30.5''X43'', 305lb.
  • Stainless steel front, top, sides and interior bottom.
  • Well-insulated double-pane thermoglass front.
  • Two sliding glass rear doors.
  • Dual airflow evaporator technology eliminate the need for a drainage connection.

I purchased a merchandiser and dry display case from Cooltech and I am shocked at the poor design and quality of the merchandiser. The racks are ill fitting, the bracketss were rusted (new unit). They attempted to come out and fix it and in the process damaged the unit with dents and dings to the steel and made it look even worse. Really unbelievable.

Haier HVF024BBG 24-Bottle Single-Zone Wine Cellar, Black

Haier HVF024BBG 24-Bottle Single-Zone Wine Cellar, Black
  • Single-zone 24-bottle wine cellar with adjustable electronic thermostat
  • 3 chrome storage racks; 2 half-depth racks; soft interior lighting
  • Dual-function LED display; lock and key; leveling legs for stability
  • Flat see-through glass door; heavy-duty brushed metal handle; work top
  • Measures 23-1/2 by 20 by 30-1/2 inches; 1-year parts-and-labor warranty

Purchase date: Purchased the product from amazon.com in December 2008.

Price: Several web sites were selling the unit for three hundred dollars including amazon. When amazon reduced the price by thirty-six dollars I made my purchase.

Shipping: With the free Super Saver Shipping, the cellar was delivered by UPS in 3 days.

Packaging: The packaging is minimal. There is thin Styrofoam packaging covering each of the four corners and a square piece covering the top. Plus a piece of Styrofoam is inside the door to protect the glass door from the wire shelves. Cardboard covers the four sides and the top. There is no packaging at all covering the bottom of the cellar and there is no Styrofoam covering the sides.

Delivery: I was most concerned about damage to the glass door and the compressor which were not damaged. UPS delivered the cellar by using a dolly with a very long blade that was wider than the cellar. I believe this helped avoid any damage to the bottom of the cellar. (Remember there is no packaging for the bottom.) But, unfortunately, there was damage to one of the sides. I did not notice it until UPS was gone but there was a small tear to one of the sides of the cardboard small enough that it looked like normal wear and tear of shipping and not significant enough to be a concern. But there was a small dent in the side of the cellar. If there were even a thin piece of Styrofoam covering the sides, the damage would have been prevented. I took the easy way out and decided to just keep the cellar.

Cooling: The cellar lets you set your own temperature or you can use the white wine button (which uses a temp of 47 degrees) or the red wine button (which uses a temp of 57 degrees). The compressor turns on when the temperature is 3 degrees more than your setting. It turns off when the temperature is 2 degrees less than your setting but the cellar does continue to get colder. I keep the cellar in a room where the temperature is in the mid 60s and the cellar continues to get another 3 to 4 degrees cooler. So, all together, there is an 8 or 9 degree temperature variation.

Noise: Some of the reviews of various cellars I read complained about the continuous running and noise of their cellar. But this cellar is extremely quiet. I do not notice when the compressor is on. And when cooling, it's on for only a couple of minutes.

Vibration: Since this cellar uses a compressor for cooling I was concerned about the amount of vibration that it created since it can disturb the sediment in the wine bottles. But the compressor in this cellar is bolted to a bracket on the bottom of the unit and there are rubber bushings in between the compressor and the bracket. I did, however, feel a very, very small amount of vibration when the compressor is on. To measure the vibration, I put a glass of water on the cellar and found, to my relief, the water was completely undisturbed. I also watched for vibration when the compressor turns on and when it turns off. The water in the glass does show some vibration more so when it turns off than when it turns on. But this is probably less vibration than when you open or close the cellar.

Warranty: The manual states the warranty for parts and labor is 12 months from the date of purchase. The compressor, condenser and evaporator have a warranty of 5 years from the date of purchase.

This is very nice quality 24 bottle wine fridge. Previously, I owned a similiar-sized Danby which was unreliable and I had extreme difficulty finding anyone to repair. The Haier is much better quality and worth the slightly higher price. Nice features include: digital temperature display, key lock, full door handle, inside light, good quality racks. Also, received very quick delivery from Amazon.

Frankly, I expected more from Haier. This is basically a dorm-fridge, with a glass door, and digital temperature display. It looks very nice, an my wife is thrilled -which is what matters most. It sits on ceramic tile in my TV room, and the noise, while present, is not bothersome. I am a bit less happy with the constant 5-6 degree temperature variation. Needs better insulation, I shudder to think how much electricity its eats!

when i opened the door, very strong plastic smell come out.

and it was broken package when i received it.

After doing research on all the wine cellars, we decided on this Haier 24-bottle wine cellar. It is relatively quiet and does not have a lot of vibration. The product is shipped via UPS. UPS did not ship the wine cellar on the day it was suppose to. On the 3rd day past the delivery date, I had to call up UPS to figure out what happened to the package. When it finally arrived, the packaging was very flimsy and there was a ding on the side panel.

GE Part Number WR60X10129 MOTOR AC/DC FAN

GE Part Number WR60X10129 MOTOR AC/DC FAN
  • REPAIR PART NUMBER WR60X10129
  • REPAIR PART FOR GE, AMANA, HOTPOINT, KENMORE AND MORE
  • PART MEETS ALL OEM QUALITY STANDARDS MANUFACTURED BY A THIRD PARTY

The part came quickly, it was easy to swap out with the old fan, and so far everything is working great. The old fan had become quite noisy, and even after trying to lubricate it, continued to "growl" often. The new fan motor works as it should, and is much quieter. I gave it 4 stars only because it hasn't been in service long--we'll see how it lasts.
