I consider this a perfect replacement, even comes with the defrost thermostat. I say this is a "plug & play" replacement / Great replacement !
price was great,a fraction of the cost of using oem part... originally thought it wouldn't be worth having a repair guy come in to fix a 20 year old refrigerator... took a shot with a part available inexpensively and an hour of my time... and maybe it will last another 20 years now

To start with, it wasn't an exact replacement. I did get it to work by re-using the old brackets. It worked great for about 3 weeks, and the upper element burned out, so it's back to manual defrosting with the wife's hair dryer...

This was ordered for a Hotpoint side by side refrigerator. This part was just replaced about 11 months ago at about twice the price.
